We watched 3 employees play paramedic to a man who looked like he had been severely beaten or in a car accident. They had bloody paper towels in their bare hands and instead of putting it in the dumpster they were next to, they took it inside past everyone at the drive in. Not to mention we were asked to hold (not a big deal, they were going through a lot), but then asked if we were waiting, and when we said we were two employees got in a fight over who was going to take our order, but no one actually did. When I called the manager to tell him, he didn't know what was going on, and told me that he would call an ambulance "after I'm done cooking these orders." When I told him we wouldn't be back because it wasn't sanitary, he said they were always sanitary, but didn't have an answer when I asked how putting bare hands on blood was sanitary. read more

First time in spokane and a few people recommended this place. So decided to go last night 930pm. This Star is just for them being open late around that area. Drive thru customer service needs definitely a tuning especially for the supervisor (older woman) that took our order. Should of left our order behind due to the bad vibes. Got our order and damn was the burgers terrible. Fries was perfectly cooked but was toooo salty. The Huckleberry shake was ok (d lish was way better) and chocolate shake (gave my sister diarhea). Wasted my money and threw the food away. Should a took the extra time and went to town instead. Will never come back, never recommend to family and friends. I stopped in before the Great White concert but won't stop there again. The gal behind the counter, who had red hair didn't know anything about their food. I asked if the tater tots were crispy & she said; Um.. I don't know. I then asked if the curly fries were seasoned & she said; Um.. I don't know, but I can tell you that they are red. Came here a couple of times, has been relatively consistent aside from one missing burger. Worker was understanding when we came back, didn't ask for a receipt or any other proof. Food isn't groundbreaking but is nostalgic and relatively fresh. Doesn't get soggy after some time. Fries portions have been generous most times. Always crispy. I may be in the minority but I do live me some zips. The crinkle fries and twist ice cream cones are my very favorite but I don't mind the burgers either. I always look forward to when we get to stop in. Today, everyone seemed pretty grumpy and most of the table tops were dirty. I carry clorox wipes in my purse so I just wiped a table down. Went into the drive in with a friend who has been living in Alabama and really wanted to have Zips burgers, as she remembered them from when she lived here. When we ordered at the drive-through, they told us it was going to be 20 minutes for two burgers, no fries no nothing. Since it was her only chance on the trip to get her zips burgers, we waited over 20 minutes, got to the window and paid. After waiting about five more minutes, The window person told us it was going to be at least another 20 minutes. We requested a refund and discussed, and told her we would not be back. She said "we're busy" was her only explanation. If she would've told us it was going to be an hour when we ordered, we certainly would have not bothered. I felt really bad for the five or six cars that were left behind me in line. They too had undoubtedly been lied to at the point of order and were going to find out about the next unreasonable delay after they paid for their order. The food here is what you would expect and always done right. I also love that they are open 24hrs at the drive through AND lobby. They also get the details right like having jalapeño catsup available if you want to kick up the spice a bit. Eh, not great. I ordered the halibut sandwich with a side of fried mushrooms to go. Both were hot but just ok. I left feeling I could have spent my time and money better. The service here was more underwhelming than the food. The drive through was really busy but not the inside counter. Two of us were standing there waiting for our food. Zip's is a made to order chow drive up known for off the flattop (griddle) items and fries kind of place. When I was young we called this genre "Greasy Spoons". I ordered the hotdog with grilled onions, mustard and relish. It was decent and hot. Nothing great but an average dog. I enjoyed it! The servers were nice and seemed to really care. I know what you're thinking...sounds at least 3-Star? But the bathroom was filthy and workers were standing around. Folks that's gross!!! Multiple times now, I've come to this location and these young employees make up their owns rules. They will close and hour early, stop serving ice cream an hour early, stop serving breakfast with ten minute until 11am because "they already have enough breakfast orders in". They do not adhere to the rules and operational needs of Zips. I am disgusted and disappointed with the lack of proper customer service. First time at ZIP's Drive-In. Had the cheeseburger, family got a "tub" of curly fries (a very generous portion). Kids got the grilled chicken sandwich. All was flavorful. Have to comment that the fries were voted the "best" fries with consideration of crispness, spice flavor, and temperature. Our food arrived hot and fresh, which is so important when you get fries. Dipping sauces were flavorful, and family enjoyed the jalapeño flavored ketchup and ranch. I'd return again if we return to the Spokane area. read more

Well I'm not from the area but visit about once a month for work at the Air Force Base. I decided to give Zips a chance to redeem themselves from my last visit . All I can say is they failed again. I ordered a fish sandwich which was OK. I ordered the onion rings and they were terrible. Old cooking oil is not good to cook onion rings in and other things. I have an extensive background managing fast food restaurants and can tell when cooking oil needs to be changed. The appearance of the employees needs attention , kid with baseball hat turned around backwards sure don't present a good impression for customers . No thank you for your business and liked like none of the employees wanted to either help customers or be there. . It is a shame that these folks don't care . I did on a positive note see the kitchen personnel change gloves and use sanitizer often. Kudos to them . I will not be back to this location I hope they can improve but looking at other comments posted here this one has a history of poor quality and service. read more

I can't believe we just got charged 18.00 for this meal. It was literally 3 fish sticks and 8?onion rings. The fish tasted like it had been fried 3 times. Pure rubbish and the onion rings were so salty I ate one and one only. I have been to the zips in Cheney and it was amazing. I will never go here again. I've known 3 people who have worked at 3 different zips in spokane. I know what standards they have. Without a doubt this is the worst zips I have ever been to. I honestly have no idea why I keep going back thinking it's going to be any different. I don't know if it's just a different owner, bad management, or what. The customer service is terrible, I get one to two word responses, I am not greeted at the window. I am told what I owe for the food and that's about it. I have asked for NO pickles every single time I go there and every single time there's pickles on my burger. I ask for a strawberry banana shake, I get peanut butter chocolate. I ask for ranch, I get fry sauce. If you live in airway heights, or are just staying here in a hotel, I urge you to go to the zips just 10 minutes away on 3rd avenue. Dinner with a show. My husband and I frequent zips often but we've had to stop eating inside and do take out. The food taste 10x better when you eat there but you will hear staff having a knock down drag out at the register infront of god and everybody with no shame. An older man who I believe is manger but I wouldn't know bc he doesn't wear a name tag or have small talk with you (no matter how nice you are, if you're the only person there or how much you tip). That man is rude to customers and treats his employees horribly. On 3 July I waited just shy of 20 minutes with only two cars in front of me in the drive thru after placing my order for a tub of onion rings (I was already in a hurry so I didn't inspect my food before pulling back into traffic), and when I tried to eat them, I was greeted with a cold, doughy congealed blob of grease that I paid $12 for. Had I not already been several miles away before reaching in to the tub, I would've gone back in and poured it out onto the counter in front of all the other patrons before demanding a refund. If this laziness and lack of care goes into their food, I shudder to think how many people have gotten food-borne illness from their under cooked meat products. I will never be back to this Zip's unless it is completely restaffed, and highly recommend anyone else stay away. Its fast food, and I know a lot of people that like zips, but I am not one of them. I know a lot of college students that swear by zips, but I prefer more to my burger. Their toppings are limited, and that's my main complaint. Their burgers didn't taste overly greasy, but they lacked the flavor I wanted, because they didn't have the topping options I am used to. I'm usually a fan of Zips!!! My husband and I were running late on our way out of town so we opted to stop for breakfast sandwiches and now I'm sick to my stomach (not from the food) and still hungry! My husband likes croissant breakfast sandwiches so he got one of those and said it was alright but more greasy than usual, I didn't get a picture of his because he was too hungry not to eat it anyway. Now let's talk about the nasty food they served me....first of all I asked for NO egg just sausage and cheese on an English Muffin, BTW having a English muffin instead of a regular hamburger bun makes it a "deluxe" sandwich which costs more. What I actually got was a stale English muffin that had not been toasted with not one but two eggs and what appeared to resemble cheese? As I was taking the eggs off (that I didn't want in the first place) I found an extra special crunchy gift hidden in the middle thank goodness I didn't take a bite. It's a shame that all Zips owners are not held to similar standards in order to maintain their franchise. I gave one start cause at least my hubby got to eat.
