The salmon bagel tasted very burnt and smelled off. The onions looked black (pictured) and possibly spoiled. I politely raised my concern, but the situation was handled very poorly. There was no attempt to resolve the issue -- no offer to remake/ replace it, or provide a refund. Instead, I was met with rude behavior and weird looks that made me feel uncomfortable for even bringing it up, like it was somehow my fault their food tasted bad. Very disappointing experience and definitely not worth the price.

While traveling through Auburn with my strictly vegan friend, I searched Yelp for lunch options that would work for both of us and Zola's seemed like a good fit. She selected the Zola Bowl, which was flavorful and satisfying. I chose the Roasted Veggie Panini, which had creamy cheese, sweet roasted vegetables, and crunchy, delicious bread. We liked the food so much that we stopped there the second day and ordered the exact same items. It's a small cafe with local art and some local jewelry for sale as well. There are a few outdoor seats, which were great for a beautiful, sunny day. Order at the counter and the food will be brought out to you. It's a casual cafe where you bus your own table. I highly recommend it.

I wanted a light lunch so I decided to stop by here because I pass by it all the time. I ordered the chicken panini. The food was so bland, sauce on the side would not have helped this meal. The salad wasn't even good to me. SMH heard the coffee was good but I will not be returning. Even the service was awkward. I was not get greeted at all she was just looking at me. I will not be coming back!

I've been going to Zola's cafe for almost 6 years now. Their coffee has always been on point, and the baked goods are just awesome. I never thought to post a review until now. The current owner, Matt, introduced some changes. I only recently discovered that Matt makes some of the best soup you can get in Auburn. Or anywhere really. There's always great artwork on the walls, and fine tunes on the wire. But during these cold months, let me tell you - a bowl of any soup that Matt makes is going to warm your bones and feed your soul. They have nice salads too. Grab your bestie and make it a date.

The previous reviews put it as a top contender for breakfast as we were passing thru town. First, I would call this a coffee shop with food and not a 'cafe'. Like any other coffee shop, step up to the counter, order, sit and wait for your name to be called. But unlike other shops the food isn't premade processed food that get reheated to order. The egg and hashbrown burrito I got was pretty good. I have never had a burrito made on a panini press and I can say it's a great way to do it! The flavor was good even though the potatoes had a little burned flavor. I did not like the salsa, it tasted like Pace from a jar.

Visited on a Sunday for brunch time with a couple of friends and we spent about 2 hours here. They did not kick us out and let us enjoy our time here. When you arrive, you can sit wherever you like and their menus are available right at the front of the register. After you order, they will deliver your food and/or drink to you. Inside was spacious, with some outdoor seating. They even have a couch by the fireplace if youre just there to hangout and enjoy your coffee. For coffee, I ordered a latte. Creamy with a good taste of espresso. For food, I ordered a Eggplant Panini and although it look small, it was actually very filling. Could only eat half and took the rest home. I have to say to this day, I am still craving that sandwich. Their foccacia bread is so unique and tasted so well with the sandwich, I need to go back when I have time to. It was that good. My friends also ordered a panini and have finished theirs. Also noted that they loved theirs as well. Sadly, I did not write the names of them down. Overall, I definitely recommend. A good place to sit down, enjoy a cup of coffee and/od catch up with friends.

This was a great spot to grab a light lunch and some coffee! The hubs and I were driving through the area and needed lunch and coffee and this hit those requirements. My husband ordered make your own sandwich and got it with turkey, mayo, tomato, pickle on focaccia and he loved it! I had a bite and it was good! The side salad and ranch was also delicious. He had an iced latte too which was delicious. I had a minestrone soup and it was so yummy as well as the caramel coffee. Service was quick and efficient, as well as friendly. They have tables inside and outside as well as a couch and comfortable chair area to sit. They have other foods such as pastries, breakfast items and sweets and lots more coffee drinks.

This place is great! Its a good place to come and hang out with friends or your partner. They have great coffee and really good food! Today i tried their new menu and got the French dip with Braised Portabella Mushrooms and it was so delicious! You can taste the horseradish spread that they use, and it pairs well with the flavors of the sandwich, especially when you dip it in the broth it comes with.

We enjoyed the spot for Sunday morning, coffee, and breakfast. We were able to sit outside and joy the end of summer. Good coffee options. I ordered the Zola bowl with vegan sausage for breakfast.it was tasty and very filling. I would order again. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. A place you can relax and enjoy.

Loved it. Would have given them a 5 if the clam chowder were a little thicker. Great flavor but just more of a brothy soup. Which may have been her goal. I ordered to go 1/2 quiche ( lovely crust) and soup for under $9.00 approximate. I ordered a famous salted caramel cupcake which I will eat in a moment. Parking in back was easy. Gals were kind and friendly. Will go back again and again especially for quiche. They put a little garnish in box that was a tiny and yummy salad with CREAMY dallop of dressing with foccacia bread~ ! What a delight. If the cafe reads this review, I hope they know I loved all very much. I just like a thicker clam chowder, my personal thing. Drove by today and decided to stop. The outside was appealing. Never been to Zola's. Had the chicken pannini and it was delicious. Bread was crunching, chicken tender. I also had a 32oz iced palmogranite white tea. She made it with loose leaf tea. I didn't have to add any sweatner. My brother had the BLT and he said ir was really good. I would difinitely make the trip down from Federal way to eat there again. read more

Came to Zola's while on a work trip. They have a huge selection of baked breakfast goodies and have some seasonal items as well. I ordered an Americano and a gingerbread muffin (seasonal) and everything was fantastic! They use quality coffee and the muffin was soft, crunchy on top, and absolutely delicious. Looking forward to coming back in a couple of months when I'm in town again. read more

I really want to love this place, but no can do. I am in Auburn for work somewhat regularly and have relied on Zola for a quick bite or caffeine boost. It's always disappointing. My last visit: "hi, I would like a 12 ounce tea". Server: "our teas come in 16 ounce cups". Me "yeah, but I like my drinks stronger so can I have a 12 ounce please?". Server, "no,our tea comes in a 16 ounce cup". Um, so like okay "can I get my tea in a 16 ounce cup without 4 ounces of the water you typically put in?". Didn't happen. Poured out the excess water in their bus tub. They were super busy so my food took a while which I understand but my to go quiche and salad were handed to me with no fork or napkin. Not usually a problem, but neither item was available at their self-serve station. Yet again, I got to ask the barista, "uh, could I please get a napkin?". She told me I would get a napkin when my food was served. I vainly attempted to explain to her I already had my food without a fork or napkin. No response. I wanted to go take the money I had put in the tip jar out. That's how bad it was. If you're headed to Auburn, bring your own food. This place is pathetic. read more

Came here with a friend on a Friday morning and was happy to see they weren't super busy. We ordered 2 breakfast burritos and added meat and veggies. The burritos were pretty good but they were so big we couldn't finish them! They gave us sour cream and salsa too which was nice. Definitely worth the price we paid. I saw that they had vegan muffins for about $2-3 and I was really intrigued. I ordered a dark chocolate mocha and it was pretty good. The place was pretty clean. The couch was SO comfortable. They have plenty of seating to choose from and really cool art all over the walls. Nothing too crazy different about this place but I would probably come here again! read more

I come to Zolas to study and enjoy a cup of tasty coffee. I enjoy the friendly and outgoing environment that brings me back to zolas almost everyday. Zolas is not like any other cafe it has more than coffee with milk and sugar. This place offers a variety of great drinks as well as food.this is definitely a place to go if your looking for a new hangout spot. read more

Great little cozy diner complete with outdoor seating and a grand piano just outside of the front door. Quiche is on point. Above average choices of food and drink, Has a Mediterranean feel to it. extremely friendly staff. Owner Zola is fun to chat it up with while waiting for your food which is really quick to cafe wait reasonable. Free WiFi. The first time I went to Zolas I really loved it. At first I thought it was pricey, but considering that everything is homemade and fresh, can justify the price. It seems that service is great only when the owner is in. Other times, the people there are kind of slow in preparing your food. I find it kind of long to wait 20 to 30 minutes for a sandwich and a cup of soup. Doesnt take me that long to make a sanwich. The chick at the register was distracted on her damn phone texting. Having worked customer service for 8+ years one thing you should never do is stop listening to your customers to answer a text. There are a total of 10 people who were already here when I got here and ive now been waiting for 20 minutes. This sandwich better be good. I would probably only come back when Zola is in. The food is good and coffee is great. Only reason I keep coming back. But they definitely need to work on their time management and making aure staff isnt texting. Especially when a customer is ordering. read more

Visiting from out of town and found this place on Yelp, was looking for an almond milk latte. I ended up ordering americano with splash of almond milk. I was charged .50 for almond milk, which is ridiculous considering it was literally a splash. Not steamed, just plain. Felt like I was overcharged and coffee was sub par. SLOW - so slow. Most of the time there is more conversation behind that counter then there is getting food ready. What a great little place in Auburn! Great ambience! We were just passing through and wanted to find a nice place to start the day. So glad we found Zola's! Helpful and friendly service. We both chose the oatmeal. The mocha and vanilla latte were smooth and creamy, just the way we like them :) Oatmeal very tasty! Hubby in addition had a morning glory muffin, which was moist and flavorful. Hope this little gem lasts! read more

We visited this place on a Wednesday night about 5:30pm. Servers were really friendly, and made recommendations for coffee. I ordered what was basically a peppermint mocha and a focaccia panini with chicken and peppers. Both were really good - the sandwich was huge! I ate one half and took the other half home for my hubs. My friend and I ordered two 12 oz. coffees, and two entrees, and it came to $26. I give this 4 stars instead of 5 because the service was pretty slow. That could be because of the time of our visit - later in the day. Overall, a great little gem in Auburn, one I will definitely be going back to! read more

The best place to relax in Auburn. Most of the food, to my knowledge, is made on site, and the prices are reasonable. I can easily get a well rounded lunch and beverage for around $8-$11. Try the focaccia pizza if you're on a budget. The staff give excellent recommendations. read more

I went to Zola's for the first time today, and loved it!! The art on the walls and quality live music really makes this place casual and inviting. The staff was super kind and thoughtful as well!! This is a local coffee shop that is neat, clean and cute. They offer gluten free pastries, as well as some 2000's pop punk nostalgia playing throughout. The salad was made of leafy greens rather than nasty hard pieces of romaine, which is the number one reason we will be returning. Customer service was awesome, and it was nice to see a guy behind the counter. read more

Fantastic! I appreciate the great quality of the coffee, delicious sandwiches and consistently friendly service that I receive at Zola's. Tables provide a great place to meet with friends or for business. The comfy couch, love-seat and easy chair provide a cozy seating area in front of the fireplace - perfect for a visit or a quick read . Don't miss the art by local artists displayed throughout the space. I recommend the roasted veggie panini (eye-rolling delicious! ) and cappuccino with the perfect cap of foam. read more

The drinks never tasted bad here which is a great sign as I have been to other theaters that have the fountain drink machines that have a bunch of options but it doesn't taste good. The seats here are more comfortable and spacious too. The membership here is pretty great too and even if you don't do the paid version, you get a free drink on your birthday which is nice.

While we were waiting in line to weigh our strawberries, we noticed the staff member at the scale zeroing out the container for the customers ahead of us so they wouldn't be charged for the basket/box itself. She even explained it out loud, which we thought was considerate. However, when it was our turn, she did not zero out the scale. We didn't say anything at the time and assumed maybe it was an honest mistake. What felt disheartening was that immediately after we paid and stepped aside, she zeroed out the scale again for the customer right behind us. My friends, who are of Hispanic ancestry, felt very uncomfortable and singled out by the interaction. I don't want to accuse anyone of racism or say this was intentional, because I don't know that. But I do think it's worth sharing because these kinds of small differences in treatment can really affect how people feel in a space. Our overall experience was okay, but that checkout interaction left a bad impression.

I really, really want to give Zola's a good review, because let's be honest there aren't many cute, unique options in the main drag in downtown Auburn, and we live in walking distance which is nice. However, every time I come here I get the worst vibes from the employees. It's almost like they resent anyone who walks in the door. Which is typically fine, because I am not here for the smiles but rather the yummy coffee and food. Today, it took a turn for the worse. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon at 2:45. Instead of greeting us w a friendly hello, an irritated barista yelled from the back counter "You can't order food anymore because we close at 3". Um... ok? I wasn't planning on ordering food, but whatever. So we walk up to the counter to scope out the menu, and the younger barista throws her hands up at her coworker who is cleaning the food display. The other coworker says to her "I'm sorry, we still have to make coffee" to which the younger worker throws her hands towards the (I'm guessing) freshly cleaned espresso machine as if since she had already cleaned it she couldn't be bothered to make us coffee. So I say, "is there a problem? do we need to go somewhere else?", and the other coworker says "yes, i'm sorry it's just we are trying to clean". I am really curious how the owner would feel about paying multiple employees (there were three staff members there) wages while they are turning away sales. It's really sad and disheartening that this is what is becoming of customer service. I just wanted a latte man. read more

I've been meaning to stop in this corner cafe since I moved to Auburn. Finally did a pitstop there before my colour fix at the tattoo shop. Loved this place! It's like my old stomping grounds in Freemont neighborhood in Seattle! (desparate homesick for my bohemian corner cafes with design character and art!) Got to meet Zola herself, she is refreshing, fun and upbeat. Sometimes u'll go to a store where the owner works and they're burnt out and u don't even know why ur still handing them your hard earned money. This cafe has a large fireplace, art displayed by artist friends of her's on sale, and photography as well!! So fun, I will b going back to buy larger items, but could only indulge with a cute fun photo to frame for my kitchen! Coffee was good, just the way I ordered it. Fantastic service and such a friendly staff! The overall environment was enjoyable, and there's something special about supporting small family restaurants. The food selection was excellent--wholesome and satisfying. The cafe's decor added to the welcoming atmosphere, and I especially appreciate when local businesses showcase local art--it adds a unique touch and supports the community's creativity. Mid morning and we were looking for something local and options were somewhat limited. We were happy to find Zola's and we knew at least we could have very good coffee. Happy to report they had some very good food options. My breakfast burrito special with ham was served hot off the grill and it was perfect. Hubby and kid liked their muffins.
