As we got served more and more people were coming in. The restaurant was being manned by the mom ( who was the delicious cook) and the son who was attending to everyone with speedy service. Beef rib eye (32oz) is a lot for two people. Comes with bone marrow and sea salt to sprinkle on. Great char and flavor making it a good staple. The cornbread and cheddar & chive potatoes were ordinary. Nothing special. Loved the jalapeno addition to the cornbread. Service/Ambiance: Service is serviceable. Servers are friendly as expected with an establishment as this. Ambiance is bright and lively. Plenty of natural light. There are kitchen bar seats you can sit at where you can watch the kitchen staff cook, literally. Overall, a great tasting meal. It met my high expectations. One thing I can say though is that as time goes by, the food in La just keeps getting better and better. While this place may have had showstopping pizza in 2018, a lot of other places have really upped their food game as well. But that's the great thing about innovation. We have places like this we can look at as staples, and then some new place just goes and outdoes it. I like bestia though. We had to get the mac and cheese balls since it was Hoppy Hour! I also didn't realize that on Wednesdays, the double smash burgers are half off. I'll definitely remember that for next time. After we ordered, the food came out quicker than I expected. It was a nice surprise. I think the first item came out about 10 minutes after our initial order. The mac and cheese balls came out hot, which was great. The breading made them super crispy and gave a nice crunch that balanced really well with the softer, chewier mac and cheese inside. I was glad the inside wasn't too runny since that would have made it like lava! I didn't see a cheese pull this time, but next time I'll try again to see if I can catch one. It was a great start to the meal. The burgers came out shortly after we finished the mac and cheese balls. I totally forgot that the truffle fries came with sauce. I should have asked for the sauce on the side, but it wasn't a problem that it was added on top of the fries. It just made them get soggy a bit faster, but that's no problem; it just means I've got to work faster! The burger was good and came out super juicy. I asked for it medium, and it looked about medium, so no complaints here! I never realized before, but the bread was so fluffy... it was a super pillowy bun with a nice bounce to it. It definitely helped balance out the meatiness of the patty. The hint of tomato gave it a nice, refreshing bite and really helped cut through the richness of the meat. The onions also added a nice sweetness to the burger, which was appreciated. I also snuck a bite of the ribbed potatoes, and they were good as well. They were a bit crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside, with just a touch of saltiness. I also stole a pickle from the double smash and realized I probably should have asked for pickles on my burger, but I'll remember that for my next visit!

The only other time we saw her was after we flagged down another staff member because our fries were lukewarm. Unfortunately, the replacement fries were also lukewarm, so I'm thinking fries just aren't their specialty. I ordered the Al Pastor fish tacos. They were good, but nothing really stood out or made me want to order them again. I'm willing to give Eureka! another try because everyone has an off day. Hopefully the service is better next time, and I'll update my review if it is.

We also finished the meal with amazing desserts, including the lemon dessert and a caramel dessert, both of which were outstanding. To top it all off, the coffees were great at the end of dinner. We came for dinner but they were able to accommodate us with sandwiches from the lunch menu. We had a vegan in our group and our server offered recommendations for sandwich options and sides. The menu has a wide variety of choices including plant based, gluten free and vegan options. So many of the choices sounded good. I didn't want anything too heavy so I narrowed down to the little gem Caesar salad and added grilled chicken. It was the right portion and what set it apart was the nested little gem leaves dusted with finely shaved Parmesan. I tasted the farmhouse beets that one person ordered and the blend of arugula and beets with candied pecans and feta was the perfect balance of flavor and texture. The one member of our group that didn't care for her meal ordered the Thai ginger salad and they didn't charge for it when she mentioned it was spicer than she expected. The space has a great vibe. There's outdoor seating and the interior space is very open and has a lot of window space and light. There's also ample bar seating. They can also accommodate groups. The server charged us all individually for what we ordered which was very accommodating and really appreciated. It was a great dining experience overall.
