    Nachos with Steak 4-24
    Holli A.

I love this place!!! I wish I would have stopped here, a long time ago. Now I know what I was missing.. The Chambord margaritas a bartender's ... Their Happy Hour is really good the drinks are great. The food options are diverse, there is something for everyone. I love the Nachos/Tostados, Tacos, and fries are really tasty. The salsas accompanying the food are paired well. I would definitely love to go have brunch there in the near future.

Happy hour at Z Tejas hasn't disappointed me yet. 3-6 happy hour half price margs, $5 quesadilla, $5 chips with queso guacamole and salsa. That's really why I come here. Service is always great. Me and a friend sat on the patio and the fans were just what we needed. If you have a large group (6 people) their patio has a nice "booth" for you all to gather. Nice atmosphere, beautiful restaurant, amazing food. Count me in again, and again.

Guacamole, queso and salsa with chips. And, mini cornbread skillets!

We came here and enjoyed lunch on a Friday. Service was attentive and it's very tastefully decorated (love the huge front door!). The food was incredible. I really enjoyed every bit of it. The queso was perfectly creamy and the cornbread skillets were such a fun surprise to receive! The beef barbacoa enchiladas were a perfect portion and I left just a little left on the plate after filling up from the rest of the meal. Highly recommend and would love to return during future visits on Chandler!

Gorgonzola New York Strip - 1/10 Terrible cut, old Gorgonzola, no seasoning and missing onion sauce like described Would not recommend.

Z'Tejas has always been a favorite of ours however this las meal there was just terrible. Pretty sure this place has lost their mojo:( They did a remodel where they expanded their bar area. I understand why now because this place definitely is only somewhere I wanna go for drinks and maybe an app. We went for our big 25 year anniversary and I was super excited because this is where we always went for special days back in the day and we always loved it, but unfortunately this time not so much. I ordered the Gorgonzola with caramelized onion sauce steak with veggies and this one definitely miss the mark. Neither items were at all seasoned and were both totally bland. On top of that, the Gorgonzola on the steak seemed extremely old and they didn't even put caramelized onion sauce on the plate. Pretty sure they didn't even use a drop of salt or pepper to season the steak or vegetables. Plus the steak was a terrible cut with tons of fat and gristle. I could hardly eat any of it! It was like eating steak at a Denny's I didn't want to complain because we had a fantastic server, Marcileno, who was running around without any help. He told us they had understaffed that day, and he was doing his best to keep up with everything.. he was very attentive and though he suggested the steak, I don't believe that was his fault and it was definitely the chef. On top of that this place is supposed to be known for their wonderful very frozen margaritas and yet ours came out like wet slushy's. Sure they still tasted good, but just not what they used to be. My husband ordered the Diablo pasta. He said it was good, but he needed to spice it up with habaneros and add a lot of extra salt to season. Z'Tejas has has always been a staple for our family, but unfortunately, I think they're cutting some corners. Doubt we'll be back anytime soon after that horrendous meal.

If I can see the back of the Coke machine from the dining room, the designer has given up.

I don't know what happened to this place. There were four of us for dinner, three of us had been to this and other Z'Tejas' before. We don't know what happened. The food was mostly the same. It was fine. But, the decor. Ugh. They doubled the size of the bar and then, in our opinion, completely downgraded the dining room decor. The tables and chairs looked like IKEA. The furniture was light-colored, and bland. One person described it as a Chipotle with servers. I thought it looked like a Tex-Mex Denny's. That's not a dig, because I love Denny's, but it's not the Z'Tejas that I remember. After speaking with other people, the general consensus is that we didn't like the "vibe". And, if I can see the back of the Coke machine from the dining area, you're crossing the line into counter-order take-out. So, 2-stars for a Tex-Mex restaurant, 3-stars for a diner-style place, and 4-starts for bar. To sum up, I would not bring a date here.

Starting with the service, we had a very friendly maitre'd and an excellent most-likely-the owner doing a bit of everything including running our food. Our waiter Hasan was absolutely incredible, friendly, and above and beyond from start to finish. The restaurant itself is well kept and clean, with a very beautiful wall mural. The real winner though was the food. The menu was full of excellent sounding choices, but our picks were so aromatic and tasted even better. From my chorizo meatloaf, to my mom's chile relleno, to our queso appetizer, everything was full of flavors, and a party in your mouth. We got two desserts to go, and they were equally pleasing. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fine dining meal at a casual tex mex style place.

I've been coming to this restaurant since 2013 when I moved to Phoenix. I go to this restaurant at least 3 times a month. The frozen Chambord margaritas are the best margaritas in the city. The catfish beignets and z salad yummy. They recently remodeled .,,it is so beautiful. We usually sit at the bar, but sometimes we sit at a table. I've even rented there private dining room for a party. The service is excellent. The staff are nice boy and it's , good place t to watch TV and catch some sporting games if your eating at the bar. Our Ztejas is the one in Chandler on the Ray Rd.

5 star service! I walked in and was IMMEDIATELY greeted by the manager George. Per usual I sat at the bar and he immediately gave me menus and made me a frozen chambord (YES!). Lauren was my bartender and she was so sweet and nice. They got me my own little mini corn bread with butter (complimentary). For lunch I got the catfish beignet, SO good and fresh. What a great experience. Thank you George and Lauren. I've been a fan of Ztejas for a long time and after new ownership I was displeased. I am glad I came in and had lunch because seeing a lot of the OG menu items come back; like the jerk chicken salad and Diablo pasta, I WILL be back!

Great dinner with friends! We all licked our plates clean. I overly enjoyed the ahi tuna salad. Patio was very well conditioned with misters. Nice ambiance and helpful staff.

I finally made it here before leaving Phoenix. Came for a business meeting & although we had to meet/eat around the renovations, our overall visit was good. Kenneth moved around our table quickly to ensure he was providing us with good service. Our table was filled with appetizers mostly Catfish Beignets, Cornbread & cocktails. My Mimosa had an unexpected swimmer which the Manager apologizes for - again renovations were present - made me a new one at the table. For 6 people our bill came right under $100, no complaints there.

I never made it over there but I have been to the Chandler location four times since they've opened and had a lovely experience every time. First was during restaurant week and it was so fun to try a variety of items for a very reasonable price. I loved the Chicharron guacamole, chicken enchiladas, and flan. The texture of the flan was clumpy but the flavor was amazing and I love that there was pineapple compote on top. I don't think I've ever had flan that way. Maitland was our server the first time and we were in such a hurry to make it to other plans and she did an amazing job ensuring we had the best experience in the shortest amount of time. I've also sat at the bar to enjoy the all day happy hour, which is such a great deal! Steven was attentive and thorough and helped facilitate when other guests were getting a little excited at the bar area. I have since tried a number of other menu items and I think the fajitas and corn cake are still my favorite! Sidenote: you can add an extra side of corn cake for $3 - highly recommend! This place basically turns into a nightclub after 7 PM on Friday and Saturday night. There are men dressed up in robot suits wandering all over the establishment dancing with the guests. There are guests dancing in the open space between booths and tables and the energy is out of this world! There were even women doing the limbo through the robots' legs lol! I died! My only suggestion for improvement would be to not serve the rice, beans, and corn cake on the sizzling plate of the fajitas because the plate is so hot that the beans, rice, and corn cake burn which is not an enjoyable flavor or texture for me. I have since started asking for that to be served on the side and I enjoy it much better!

Since this was a delivery order I cannot speak to the dine in atmosphere or service, but the food was packaged really well and everything arrived intact and still fresh. It was clean, the staff responded quickly to me, but I was the only person at lunchtime on the restaurant side, and there were only two people on the bar side. Despite that it was loud. They need sound attenuation, My server was prompt, and freely shared her menu favorites when I asked. Sadly I'm not really a mole fan, her recommendation, but did try the enchiladas divorciadas. First the chips and salsa... the salsa was basically puréed tomatoes. No heat at all. Just some salt. I asked for something spicier and the server found me some habanero salsa. That was tasty, but it probably had very little habanero in it. Again, no better than a low-med heat. I grew up across the southwest so to me that was disappointing. The enchiladas? I really wanted to like this place but honestly? It was unseasoned boiled and shredded chicken, wrapped in a raw / untoasted tortilla. And drowned in some that was not enchilada sauce. The red sauce tasted like tomato sauce. I'm used to red sauce being pepper based. The spicier and more roasted the better. No pepper discernible. The green sauce tasted like it had a hint of green Chiles but mostly tomatillo. Also boring but better than the red. Neither was good. I ate it, I was hungry and it wasn't greasy, but... this was a midwestern spice-hating simulacrum of an enchilada. No bueno, demasiada aburrida. So to sum it up; decent but slightly loud facility, wonderful server, and I would say forgettable food but the reality is it was unforgettably boring.
