This restaurant is top notch! There are so many varieties to chose from and the food is super good! Whether you visit the restaurant for lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed. Food, wine/cocktails and desserts are really good! The inside of the restaurant has a good amount of tables and booths for seating. Also has a bar area. It has a casual dress code and atmosphere, but the look and feel inside makes it appear to be upscale. Parking is available in the lot in front or the garage behind the restaurant. The staff is always friendly and helpful and never rushes you to finish your visit. read more

I had the shrimp & grits. As tasty of a meal as I have ever eaten. Generous portions. I couldn't eat all of my meal. Wanted to lick the plate My wife loves ribs. She was impressed with the ribs which just fell off the bone. The slaws taste just exploded in her mouth. Also ton of fries. Really really inexpensive for all the food you get. The atmospheres and service were very good, but unfortunately the food does not live up to the hype. The pork chop was undercooked and hard to chew. Rainbow trout was good, and the top chop salad was delicious too - but nothing more than what you could get at a fast food restaurant. Overall, it's an underwhelming experience. But you can consider coming if you want a nice dining environment for business/family dinner UPDATE (1/25/2020) We came back a couple month later to give the restaurant another try. We ordered smoked salmon for appetizer (amazing!), baby prime ribs, North Carolina Trout and Blackened Mahi Mahi (special) as main dishes. We really enjoyed all of our dishes! I am pretty critical when it comes to food, but the prime ribs really hit the spot, and the fries were heavenly! The seafoods were good too - very fresh. Service was fantastic as well. Mother's Day 2023 We decided to come to 131 Main (South Park location) for Mother's Day because I couldn't get reservations at Bricktops. I'm glad that didn't work out because parking hasn't been great at BT for a minute. The 131 Main in Blakeney was another choice which we also go to, but I couldn't get an earlier time for my reservation, so I booked at the South Park location - they normally always have availability. The service was great - took longer to pay for my meal, but I didn't have to wait for our table - they walked me right over to the table once we arrived for the reservation. Ambiance A little too dim for my preference at both locations- especially, if you want to take pictures inside. Food I do think the prices were marked up for the Mother's Day crowd and they also removed the sides off of the menu - which I didn't like, but our waitress was well versed on the menu. Also, I didn't care for the Mother's Day options or the $45 halibut, so I opted for the rainbow trout/blackened for $30. That price was marked $6 higher than normal, but I still ordered. When I get this at the Blakeney location, it's never season as well for the blackened option. I figured I'd give it a go at this location. So glad I did. This was the best blackened rainbow trout I've ever tried. My kale quinoa salad was also great. My white cheddar grits were too creamy for my preference - I like mine a little firmer, but it was still good. The cornbread was cooked to perfection. It's often not fully cooked on the inside or over cooked - not today - perfect. My mother enjoyed everything on her plate. She normally orders the half rack of ribs, but today - they only offered the full rack and this was at 1:30PM. So, they fully took advantage of the extra business flowing their way. :o/. Also - if you order the green beans - be prepared for the Al dente texture - which the older crowd may not appreciate, lol. Overall - the best visit so far out of the 10+ times I've been and I do recommend 131 to everyone I know. read more

We went for our anniversary. The service was amazing. Very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious. My husband had the ribeye and I had the blackened chicken pasta (little spicy but delicious). It was good but not that great. We orderedthe their special Sea bass and Prime Rib. The fish was done well; I chose non-blackened. The prime rib was so so. The comparable quality was ok. They added seasoning that was not appealing. If you have good meat, keep the seasoning simple. The service was not great. Not as attentive as the other location. They forgot my wine, have to ask three times. I like the service and the ambiance of the Ballantyne location better. read more

Fabulous food, wonderful ambiance and Amanda, our server was an absolute pleasure. Every staff member was so polite, professional and pleasant! On to the food. The shrimp cocktail was divine, fresh, huge, crisp and you know it was not frozen! I'm from Maryland, had to try the crab cakes. Some of the best I have ever had. My husband had the halibut. It was firm, fresh and so white and creamy. Our Old Fashioned cocktails, some of the best ever. Took home a slice of the key lime pie. It was huge. My favorite part was the Graham cracker crust. 131 Main is the best. It can be a little too social for an intimate engagement, but that's not a problem for me. The food is fantastic and their specials are always on point. Get the artichoke appetizer, when in season. I've tried everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. Went there on a recommendation. It's very, very new. It's a good steak house with.... Well, that was a 1.5 years ago or so. I have been here 3 or four times since then. You see I have to come out to Charlotte for a week or two every month or so. They have a nice small bourbon list, cocktails, and other top shelf luxuries. Also a smallish list of beer but mostly industrial. This place is very nice and a bit spendy. The fresh caught Halibut is 35 bucks. The grilled halibut is flaky and delicious. The roasted Brussel sprouts were nice also. Pan fried corn bread with hunny, hunny!the cornbread itself is very tasty with a hint of japanos. Then drizzle hunny. Wonderful. I eat in the bar as I'm mostly alone. I'm told the menus are the same between the dining room and bar. Tonight they have some nice jazz playing in the bar. Cool man! read more

The service was excellent, cannot fault them at all. The restaurant is VERY loud and we could not hear one another nor the server telling us about the specials. The food was less than stellar. We had the wedge salad which was fine, a bit small and did not have what we are accustomed to from other restaurants, but ok. We all had the 8 ounce barrel cut fillets, ordered at medium. They were served and based on our experience at other steak houses, this was NOT 8 ounces, but 6. Also, it was not medium, but medium-well to well done as it tasted like a roast, not a steak and there was zero pink in the meat. It was a disappointing food experience for all of us and I doubt we would go back. read more

Impeccable service. Make sure you have a reservation. We lucked out and got a table in the bar area. We thought we'd be able to sit outside, but there was some confusion on their website--to sit outside you can only get a drink and appetizer. What impressed me most was when the server asked if our entrees were perfect and I said no, mine was too spicy, she asked me what I would like instead. My husband and I have visited this restaurant on several occasions. The ambiance and the service are always amazing. Every meal option has been amazing so far. You must try the cornbread appetizer to start, I love the Trout and the chicken pasta as my favorite entree options. I've been to 131 Main several times and have not been disappointed. I HIGHLY recommend the smoked salmon, wedge salad, big island ribeye and the strawberry short cake to finish it off. Every bite is just pure delight. It's the perfect meal in my opinion! I also have to say that the service is what makes this place special. All of the servers, whether your primary one or not, are attentive and very knowledgeable about their menu. They're also personable, which adds an extra nice touch. Tonight, I had the pleasure of meeting the manager Krista and our server Serena. Krista is a phenomenal manager and makes sure her customers have nothing short of an outstanding experience. Serena was very sweet and also made sure we were taken care of. We never had to ask for refills or play the searching game wondering if we would ever be helped. The attention to detail is top notch. Another thing I love about this place is just the vibe in general. You can come dressed up for a nice date night (like we did) or come dressed down in some jeans. HIGHLY recommend 131 MAIN for a celebration, date night or just a very nice meal. The service is TOP-NOTCH, our server was Serena and she was so accommodating and made sure our experience was the absolute best it could be and the manager also stopped by to take care of anything we would need. 131 Main is a sit-down, nice dinner, 4.5. I can't give it a 5 just because it's not on the level of some of my favorites, but know that this is a 4 star that is really meant to be higher. The portions are large- I've had the cornbread, the steak Maui, any number of sides and apps, etc. All good to very good (though, notably, nothing "great"). Service is great, drinks are stiff. They run some deals too - certain locations allow you to bring a bottle or two for the table, this one had a half price wine night - nice to see a fancy restaurant try different things. It will be a hair more expensive than some places that I think are nicer - but I won't hesitate to come here for after work drinks or a dinner/lunch with clients. Would recommend. read more

Having been to the 131 Main on East Blvd a few times (that's now closed), we decided to check out the new 131 Main by SouthPark Mall. We went on a Saturday night and were seated right away. The interior felt very familiar; it resembled the other restaurant we had been to. It feels like an updated version of an old-timey restaurant that my family would have gone to back in the 1970s for special occasions, with its woody decor and low, intimate lighting. We decided to try their reasonably priced specialty martinis to start. I had the 131 MAINiac (get it?). It was a combination of Southern Comfort, Amaretto, Peach Schnapps, and Sour Mix. I was hesitant with the Southern Comfort being in there (I remember doing SoCo with Lime shots in college and they weren't really mild). This drink was deliciously sweet, though. I'd order it again. My partner tried the Pearfection - Grey Goose La Poire, St. Germaine Elderflower, Pineapple Juice, and Sour Mix. He said it was really strong. I tasted it; it really was. A heavy pour of the vodka. Haha. Well, he got his money's worth! The menu was pretty much the same as we had remembered, even though a few years had passed. We started by splitting an order (side?) of the kale salad, because that's always delicious. Our server even brought it out to us on two plates (she was awesome). I ordered the pork chop. I didn't remember it coming in one humongous chunk, though. I thought it was butterflied or something. Anyway, it was massive. I ended up sharing it (along with some smashed potatoes) with my partner because he still looked a little hungry after his crab cakes and asparagus. All in all, it was a delicious meal. It just feels like a few details would make the experience even more special, like offering two sides with each meat, since the accompaniments are usually on the small side (e.g., asparagus). And/or offering a small starter salad or bread with the pricey dinners. Something to make customers feel like they don't have to order everything piecemeal and watch it add up on their check. read more

First - I need to do a better job with my photos. Ambiance was lovely my my midday anniversary lunch. Food is good- all of! All of it. Service was also good- from the entrance to the exit We enjoyed ahi tuna appetizer, fresh, flavorful and nice portion. I had prime rib sandwich with season vegetable which was braised red cabbage in balsamic reduction. My husband wanted my whole sandwich, shared. He took over my au jus though. I think he's coming back to eat this without me. Heard him raving about it to his mom on the phone. He ordered chicken sandwich with fries- these are my all time favorite shoestring fries. His sandwich was also quite nice, flavorful well cooked. We took home banana pie- for our dessert. So glad we did, wonderful sweet treat to complete our evening. We are great fans of Hillstone restaurant in Orlando and when we walked into 131 Main in Charlotte we couldn't believe the similarities. After a little digital searching we found that while they are not affiliated, previous Management of hillstone started 131 main. And they nailed it. Many of our Hillstone favorites are on the menu like the deviled eggs and grilled artichokes. There is outdoor seating. The bar area is fun with creative cocktails. The dining area is comfortable and creates a warm and inviting ambience. We had a range of entrees that will bring us back again. We especially loved the ribs, P&G slaw and fries. We paid attention to the waiters and waitresses across the restaurant and let me tell you they work as a team. They are courteous, helpful, engaging and make sure you have everything you need. I, like so many others, were sad to see 131 Main close in Dilworth a few years ago. Since then I have missed them because I don't live near their other two locations. So, needless to say when I heard they were opening in Southpark I was thrilled! After watching their progress, I was able to visit opening week and this new location does not disappoint. From the decor to service, everything was spectacular. The menu remains consistent with their other locations, with some amazing specials each day.
