Great service, draft beers, and the bacon cheeseburger was perfect, came on a Monday night and was able to sit in a corner booth and just relax -- great for conversations and catching up with friends.

The food here was absolutely phenomenal. We arrived during happy hour so we got a discount on oysters, chips and dip and beers. We also delighted in the big ass pretzel which is actually named because it is the largest pretzel I've ever seen and it was delicious and tender and soft. Our meals were quickly served, and we had our dog with us so we were outside on the patio, the ambience was lovely, and the only complaint I have is that there were a many flies who came toward our food during the main course.

I'm glad we decided to stop by and try this place! We were seated at a high top by the bar, and our server/bartender Hunter was awesome. The bar was full and there were two high top tables, but Hunter remained attentive to everyone. For appetizers, we ordered a dozen oysters and a simple salad. We thought it was really nice they split it in half for us without us even asking and made it easier to share. The flavor of the wings were delicious and the burger was good as well. Fries were fresh cut! So good too. Overall, it's a great place to stop by for dinner and drinks.

There is no restaurant that comes even close to 1608 Crafthouse in the culinary masterpieces created by the head chef/owner Kevin, Each Tuesday I look forward to the new menu choices offered. His version of what most other restaurants offer turns them from ordinary to special. A good example is the hot dog entree served around holidays. The Nathan's dogs are apple smoked bacon wrapped offered on a split brioche roll with ox tail chili and a sprinkling of grated cheese atop. They're served with fresh cut fries that have been brined & double fried. I don't feel the slightest bit guilty about the calorie count when they offer this amazing dish. I'll actually call ahead to check and see if it's on the menu. This week, having been sick, I was so afraid I would miss a new menu item I wanted so much to try. Last night I felt good enough to go but called ahead to make sure they still had the new offering. YES!! I hadn't missed it. The dish was chef's version of Spaghetti Alla Narano with local squash, garlic, basil, Romano cheese, butter & pepper flakes. It was the most amazing thing I've ever tasted! Offered on the menu as an appetizer, it was a small plate. So I also ordered another of my favorites, Squash Blossoms very lightly tempura battered & stuffed with house made pimento cheese and a drizzle of white sauce. Oh how I would love for the spaghetti to be served as an entree. I could eat it every night. I hope it's still on the menu when my pescatarian son comes down to visit this month. Although I had been on antibiotics for a week I still have laryngitis, especially when I talk very long. And I love to talk. But bartender Matt's always perfectly made Bourbon Smash soothed my throat. For beer lovers the restaurant always offers a plentiful variety of craft beers. Although not a beer drinker I do love to see the variety and special cans my beer drinking friends order. Always count on a new fresh catch & wing offering each week. What other restaurants offer as an ordinary fish entree, chef makes creative and special. I almost never fail to try each new limited offering fresh catch menu option. Local & quality ingredients are used. It certainly adds to the freshness of the fish and seafood to be so close to the Chesapeake Bay. The restaurant's decor is tailored to its offerings. Televisions are strategically placed. Lining the wall to the bathrooms are framed published articles on the restaurant & banners of awards won. It's very well laid out and to me seems to have 4 distinct areas. There's a large area of table & booths perfect for families and large groups. An ample bar with a television at each side of the bar itself provides good viewing access from all seats at the bar. Several high topped tables complete this area of the restaurant. Then there's the area I consider in between the other two, which is where I prefer to sit. I favor one of the two tables in front on the fireplace, regardless of the time of year. Across from these tables are two high top tables, which the bartender, rather than a server, waits on. So the restaurant obviously considers them part of the bar section. The popular covered outside seating area is also available. After dinner I enjoy moving to the bar to visit with friends & talk baseball or football with the bar crowd. The restaurant is located in a small multiuse center on the east side of Pleasure House Road between its intersection with Independence & Northampton Boulevards. Hours are 7 days a week, closing at 9pm Monday - Thursday, 10pm on Friday & Saturday and 5pm on Sunday. Openings are 3pm Monday - Friday. noon on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, A weekend brunch with new menu items each week is enjoyed by many. They close on major holiday such as Memorial Day and the 4th of July. The Happy Hour Menu ends at 6pm. As you must be able to tell, 1608 Crafthouse is my favorite restaurant. Their creative entrees are a thing of beauty & taste.

Had seen this restaurant featured on the top 100 Yelp list and wanted to give it a try and it was overall a great experience! Food: Giant pretzel: huge and still delicious. Since it was brunch time we were able to get a side of the maple butter and caramel sauce along with the beer cheese and honey mustard that normally comes with the pretzel. I would not get the maple butter again or the caramel sauce. The caramel sauce had too much of a boozy flavor for my taste and the maple butter was blah. Mexican chiiqulies was so good! Loved all the flavors in this dish! Roasted sweet potatoes were absolutely cooked well and I love when something simple is done well! Margarita was prepared well and nice and strong! Service: Excellent and kind all around from the hostess to our server! Ambiance: Nice inside with tables and booths! Not overly large but also has a patio lounge.

We popped into this place on a whim while on a roadtrip. We are generally have a very kosher diet and don't eat pork. After checking the menu and seeing it was filled with pork items I thought we might not have many options to choose from. Our server jumped in and highlighted items that would work with our dietary needs. He also let us know they would make adjustments if needed. We ended up ordering the breakfast burrito (a special item on the brunch menu) , and a soft shell crab sandwich! Everything was delicious and oversized! We had plenty to eat and enough to share and take home! The fries are seasoned very well and the house made honey mustard is delicious!!! 4 stars for great service and delicious food!!!

Friendly service for sure. A definite 5. Ambiance could use some help, the lighting is too low that it feels stuffy and dated. There aren't a lot of wall decor. Definitely a 2 for ambiance. We ordered chili with pork rinds. Must have been an off day since the pork rinds were under seasoned and not fresh from fryer temperature hot. It made the rinds tough and not crispy. We also ordered lamb burger. Seems that there is some vinegary taste to it. Not a huge fan. The tangy chicken was the best. Very well seasoned, came with sunny side egg and gravy. Food was a solid 3.

We loved our service here! The waitress was incredibly helpfulC friendly and patient with our larger party. She was able to recommend items from the brunch menu, she gave us her favorite foods to try and she was great at describing the foods so we could make a good decision. The ambiance is nicely decorated to match the vibe of the menu and its name being a craft house. The art in the bathroom was not just art but an ode to food information as it was packed with facts and beautiful art. We had an about a 30 min wait but it went fast and the food and service did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their foods, we tried a lot of items from the brunch menu simply because we know this place will switch the options up. Mimosa flight: favorite was the pineapple, least favorite was the orange juice. The Big A** Pretzel was like a bagel consistency and even had like everything bagel seasoning. The cheese sauce served with it was incredibly delicious. The Bone Marrow was excellent- the toasted bread was perfect and the Rockefeller oysters were cooked perfectly. Some of the other items not pictured were more from the brunch menu and we all agree it was a 5/5 experience and would love to return when in town.

We sat outside Monday night to enjoy the fall weather. We were greeted by our server, who was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered 2 bourbon honey cocktails. They were very strong but good. For our appetizer, we had a dozen oysters and luckily the chef accommodated our request of having them steamed. The basil mignonette paired perfectly with them. For our entrées, we both had the 14oz Ribeye with the roasted bone marrow. Let me tell you, this was the best taste experience I've had in my entire life. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. The blu cheese really took it to the next level. I highly recommend you try this establishment.

Probably one of the most unassuming places you'll visit but with outstanding food and better service. I've been to many local restaurants in many different states and this place ranks among the top. We opted to order poutine with ox tail for the table and it was excellent. Then, as my main course, I went with the shrimp and grits. Holly cow! Easily one of the best I've ever had. Which includes NO! Every dish ordered did not disappoint. Oh, did I mention the desserts are delicious! Also, just as important, the selection of bourbons, beer and cocktails is fantastic! I can't forget to mention the amazing service we had from Sharon. We visited this place on a whim to celebrate and I'm so glad we did. Do yourself a favor and give the place your patronage!

Came here on a whim as this place is crazy close to my parents house. It was a whim that I'm so glad we went for. First off, the beer selection is great. They're not a dedicated beer facility as their food stands out all on its own, but they come fairly close with a very healthy selection of good beers. When you walk in the ambiance doesn't really have much of a theme going on. It's somewhat just "there" as the layout is kind of odd. I still think I haven't gone to the left of the building when you enter. There's a dark spot that I can't put a finger to what is there. Anyway, the service has been very good so far. The servers are very friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. The first time I went, I had a special and the 2nd time I went I had a burger. I don't know what it is about burgers, but it's just hard to make them "phenomenal". The burger was good, but in comparison to the first time I went, it's clear that if you order here, go for something on the specials menu. It may be a bit pricey, but you'll get your money's worth. Also if you have certain needs (no red meat, etc), I'd highly suggest asking what the food you're ordering has in it. My dad ordered fish but the broth the fish sat in contained a meat in it that he didn't want. It wasn't a make or break deal for him but it's something that others may not find acceptable. I also like the little kids entertainment package they give for the little one. It all comes in a little metal lunchbox that is just a nice touch. Overall, good place to eat at and give a try. If you're a beer fan like myself, do yourself a favor and make this a mandatory to try! Wow, needed to kill 18 hours before a flight and stumbled across this spot. Didn't look like much so I had a good feeling about it... Food was some gourmet chit, not like foo foo ugh ugh stuff but like really really damn good stuff. I had the fish and chips, very non traditional composition, being from the Southwest I'd never had drum before, very very good stuff and I've never been a fan of chutney style stuff but there was this awesome little pickley sweet crunchy delishesness on the side that had me begging like an orphan, "more please". My companion had the Shrimp and grits and was equally enamored by his fare... We had a couple of local brews as well, both were awesome... waitress was awesome, friendly, informative, and knowledgeable about the local scene and everything in it... had a great experience, really hope I get a chance to go back for another round. read more

Had dinner here last night && it was amazing! We had Valentines Day dinner at another restaurant the chef was working at and couldn't wait until his new place was open! They have awesome cocktails with a focus on whiskey...I got the 1608 julep and my bf got one with brown sugar in it...both really strong and good! Lamb meatballs for small plates, out of this world, best I've had. I ordered the ribeye with bone marrow, again very good and cooked perfectly. Bf got the cheeseburger stuffed with white American cheese, which was awesome also. So, the menu isn't crazy extensive, which I love, because it makes you feel as though everything will be done to perfection. You have a handful of appetizers, entrees, and desserts to choose from. HUGE beer selection if that's your thing. And decor fits the theme, very rustic pub-like atmosphere with a bar area. Seating to accommodate large parties and a nice patio section. They have daily changes in oysters, fish, and gelato flavors too which is nice - it was tuna last night. Service was quick and our waitress knew everything about the menu. We pretty much ordered everything she recommended. The manager was great as well, very attentive. I love sweets and I love cocktails, so I typically judge a place on both. The star of the show was dessert...omg, white chocolate pretzel sugar cookie freakin skillet. With salted caramel and vanilla bean gelato. We shared it, but next time, I'm getting my own skillet. This place was great. I saw it had nice reviews during my visit to Virginia Beach for work, so I thought I'd give it a try. This place is tucked away in a little plaza. It's hard to notice unless you are paying attention. It wasn't crowded on a Tuesday evening so my colleagues and I were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was really knowledgeable about the menu and she was able to answer all of our question giving excellent descriptions of the plates we were considering. I ordered the Oyster and lamb burger. Don't be deceived, the oyster means "oyster mushrooms". They are ground up and added to the lamb ground, so you never see them. It was delicious. My other colleague got the burger and he loved it. He said he would definitely come back there for the burger. The chicken plate was also really good. It's a lot of food and you will have some left over or wasted. Maybe share it if you can. Lastly, the fries were really good. We tried old bay and sriracha. You couldn't really notice the sriracha on them because it was very subtle so don't look for a strong kick. Overall, highly recommended. The food is fresh and the drinks are all good! read more

Quaint little restaurant with cool decor. Wide variety of drinks and specials. Unique food with local produce as a main staple. Not a very big menu, but the quality makes up for that. Lamb oyster burger had the oysters mixed in with the burger. My son enjoyed the earthy taste. Shrimp and grits were perfectly done. Mac and cheese was a delight with all kinds of goodies. This was the best "quick stop for a burger" ever. Food: terrific, drinks: awesome, service: so great. We sat outside and even still the atmosphere was lacking but as soon as our drinks and apps came we were happy. We got there at 3:15, at the start of their happy hour (3-6) on a Saturday. So not busy, great price. I had the pork rinds with chili. Oh my goodness they were perfect. My table mates had the poutine, pork burger with sausage and bacon, bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on top, and were equally happy. The "well drinks" include a house vodka and house whiskey - win. The desserts We had a bread pudding which had choc chips instead of raisins, which is how all of life should be. Delicious. My brother ordered the grilled PB&J sandwich which was even better somehow. We were just so so happy with everything. Just a great solid meal on a nice day with friends. What more can you ask for? What a gem this place is!!!! Farm to table which I always enjoy and a casual atmosphere with good drinks! I got the oysters for an appetizer and they were delicious as was the cocktail sauce that they came with. Ordered the charcuterie board for my dinner and everything was delicious, seriously delicious. Tons of different beers available and the service was good. One thing I would wish for is a few more healthy options for the menu but what they do have is pretty darn good! read more

We have stopped in a couple of times since they popped up near family. We were originally disappointed to see that Manninos left, because we would frequent them quite often, but we were pleasantly surprised the day we decided to pop in! They have an awesome craft beer menu and offer a couple of different types of flights if you'd like to sample several. Let me just say, if you like burgers, you NEED to order theirs! It is stuffed with cheese, and wrapped in crispy bacon! Who wouldn't LOVE that! It comes with homemade fries as well. My boyfriends ordered the chicken and waffles from their brunch menu the last time we were in - it was served with a bourbon maple syrup, sooo good! It's a great place to hang out with friends and family and perfect for grabbing a couple drinks too! read more

So glad we decided to come here for Sunday Brunch! It was exceptionally delicious and different! When we go out I tend to be a creature if habit, I order the same things or close variations of what I like. However I made a challenge to myself to try something different or unexpected for me. That's exactly what I did here! We got a flight of each mimosas and bloody Mary's and they were great! I liked the cider mimosa with the cinnamon sugared rim and out of the bloodys I liked the kicker or the jalapeño one. I ordered the chilquilias which was tortilla chips under pork shoulder, pico, avacado, and a over easy egg. It was so freaking good! I ate ever last bite! My only compliant was the chips were soggy bc all of the heavenly yummy toppings. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to have that crunch to chnage up the texture of the dish. My boyfriend had the shrimp and grits and I thought it was better then anything else. The broth had so much flavor and the grits where the best I've had. His only compliant was the description on the menu, it didn't list sautéed onions and there was yes onions that my non onion eating boyfriend had to pick out and gave to me. I would come here over and over again bc the food is so great and there was no insane wait time fr Sunday brunch. read more

My sister and I were looking for a place to do brunch on a Saturday. We searched around on yelp of course, and we found this place. We showed up around 1 o'clock and we were welcomed right away. They had a lot of good stuff on the menu, a lot of it affordable for brunch. We had two different types of menus though, so that was a bit confusing. Maybe we were given a brunch only menu and a full expansive menu, but my sis missed a whole lot of what I was describing to her. The restaurant has a homey feel with boxes of beer around the perimeter. We didn't sit at the bar, but it sounded like the bartenders were super nice. My sister and I shared a flight of mimosas and a flight of Bloody Marys. We ordered shrimp and grits, Poutine (her first time trying it--yay ox tail), and the really delicious lamb burger. We loved every piece of food and were impressed by our waitress, Katie. I don't live in the area, but I'm pretty sure that my sister will return. I would definitely not mind going back! read more

Nice ambiance. Chicken sandwich was a tender, definitely not a frozen patty, Huge chunk. Lamb meatball was delicious, great flavor, not overdone and had great portion to breadcrumbs. It was very unique in a good way to have it with the grits! Scallops dish was good in separate pieces, ie scallops, pork belly, fried green tomato. A gastro-pub, fairly common on the West Coast, this one of a few I've found in Virginia Beach. They have a nice selection of craft beers, a unique menu and a friendly atmosphere. There are a few TVs but it doesn't feel like a sports bar. The food was good as was the beer I tried, a locally brewed Belgian blonde. read more

Stopped here to grab some lunch after seeing the reviews here. I've got to say we were disappointed. The wait staff was very nice and attentive but that didn't compensate for the food preparation. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries. The burger was smaller than I expected and the roll was over toasted, making it dry. The fries would have had potential if they hadn't been cooked to being on the verge of being burned. My companion had the fried green tomato BLT with fries. The cranberry bread for the sandwich was toasted too much and almost crumbled when you took a bite. It would have been much better untoasted. The fries for her dish were also almost burned. We were hoping,to have a new place to grab lunch or dinner but doubt that we will return since both meals weren't very good. read more

We went here on a whim based on reviews I saw. When we got there we were the only ones there but it got packed as time passed by. We ordered a flight of mimosas to start off and while I'm not a drinker at all, one of them ended up being perfect for me. I highly recommend getting the peach agave mimosa, it was amazing!!! The other two had two much alcohol in them (I'm super lightweight) so I didn't really like them. The fourth one was a regular house mimosa. As for food, I ordered the lasagna and while it was really good, I think it had way too much cheese on it. I really wish it had more veggies or meat in it. It was also smaller than I expected and I was still kind of hungry after eating it. Since my fiancé didn't really like his burger or his drink, I don't know if we'd ever go back though (*the rating I gave is based on only my experience and not his). It didn't blow me away but it's worth giving it a try! read more

Wow, this place has great food, really fresh salad, and delicious desserts. We're so tired of brew pubs that have mediocre or worse food offerings. They also carry some really good beers on tap according to my husband and son. For me, the ice tea was good. read more

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed this one. We were out with our new puppy and wanted to grab a bite at a dog friendly place in the area. 1608 Crafthouse welcomes dogs on their outdoor patio (our pup weighed in at 3 lbs today and he stayed nestled in his stroller so idk how much it counts, but I'm sure it counts). We started by ordering a local cider it was happy hour on a Sunday at 2 something but bc it was Sunday it's happy hour all day. The cider was made locally in Hampton and needless to say the was delicious. For food I ordered the Benedict my girlfriend order the poutine fries and focaccia pizza. Both orders were fresh, hot, and full of flavor. read more

5 stars all the way! This was a last minute stop before our flight from a very long work week. Initial thought was this is a dive bar but oh what an awesome surprise and treat we were in for. Fries, scallops n grits, salad and charred shisito peppers is all it took along with mikes drink (titos) and a whiskey mule! We stopped here on the last leg of a road trip, looking for a place with good food that was also pet friendly, and we're so glad this is the place we chose. The fire pit was on and it was a mild evening, so it was really nice on the patio. We started with the happy hour oyster special, which was great. I ordered the the lamb oyster mushroom burger, and it was phenomenal. Super flavorful and cooked just right. My husband had the lamb meatballs and poutine fries, also delicious. There were solid kids menu options, too. Great beer selection; we even got a growler to take some home with us. Shout out to Dan M in particular, but the whole wait staff was polite and friendly, very welcoming to us, our kids, and our dog. Conveniently located right off the bridge from US 13, and a great way to get us started on the last few hours of our trip. read more

This was my second time going to 1608 Crafthouse and let me tell you, again they did NOT disappoint! It's not all fancy inside, but it's clean and tidy! To start, the service has been STELLAR! I am a biggie on service and both times the waitresses, Liz and Emily nailed it. Great energy, attentive and efficient! Literally smiled the entire time, and both times we had a party of 7! Onto the drinks, I'm not a beer drinker, but they have wine and cocktail options which I love one of the Chardonnay's they carry. Now for the showstopper....FOOD! Ok, I'm a creature of habit so both times I've gotten the blackened fish and scallops. Both times, great portions, well seasoned and delicious! The party I was with however have tried the Asiago chicken pasta...scrumptious, Pulled pork...mouthwatering...burgers, pizza, soup...literally no lie, EVERYTHING was delicious! Worth the trek from beachfront! The peanut butter dark chocolate brownie. I usually write chronologically but OMG do not miss this situation. So delicious. The idea was to share 2 desserts but I am not sorry for scarfing the brownie and ice cream down mostly on my own. My gf and mom shared the bread pudding -- I am not a bread pudding person but they enjoyed it. The dranks are STRONG folks. Pace yourselves. I had a Mike's Drink, and at the halfway point I went ahead and decided that was my limit. Gf had a margarita, drank it all and felt like the room was spinning. Server asked if we'd like another - no thank you sir! For apps, we shared the charcuterie plate and the fried green tomatoes sans bacon. The charcuterie (great sharing for the 5 of us) was pepperoni, serrano ham, and andouille; pickled onions, cucumbers, and string beans; mozzarella, hummus, honey, and EXCELLENT pimento. I am not a pimento person. With very nice focaccia. When the focaccia ran out, I ate the pimento with my son's fries. Fried green tomatoes were tasty and served with crab and some nice greens that made me feel better about the rest of my meal. Mom had the bacon cheeseburger; Dad had the pork belly; gf had the fried green tomato BLT, which looked amazing; I had the scallops and succotash with grits. Yummmmmmmmmmm. (Our toddler had chicken fingers and fries.) Very casual. Excellent if you have little ones. They get to enjoy the cutest lunch box filled with crayons and such. read more

We ate here by accident because the restaurant we wanted to go to is closed in Monday's. The server was exceptional and really expressed her passion for the food and the way it was prepared. She was on point, food was delicious. Had dry packed scallop on top of a nice thick fish filet. Burgers were amazing too! read more

Stopped by here because we had two pups with us and they were dog friendly, and wow! Not only was the service really good and the waitresses really friendly, but the food was equally as good. We were seated in the patio and they were more than accommodating with pulling tables together for the 5 of us. We arrived during happy hour which was awesome. Their beer selection (which features breweries in a 250 mile radius) had a huge selection. The waitress recommend a beer which didn't disappoint! We split a few of the happy hour small plates and they were delicious. If you are thinking the big ass pretzel is a small plate, think again!!! It was huge!!! The patio is nice when it's a good temperature, and the inside look roomy as well. I only wish it was closer to where I live because I would frequent this place! read more

Came for Sunday brunch, happy to see they weren't overly crowded. Able to seat our large group, had great kids options, and patio seating. I have had Habit's burgers, chicken sandwich, and salad along with all of their side options, and I think they have a good thing going. My husband and I recently visited Virginia Beach for business. A friend recommended Crafthouse for a quick bite. A little off the beaten path but worth the drive. We were seated when a the manager came up and introduced himself and proceeded to explain the owners desire to use as many local purveyors as possible and the freshest of ingredients. We asked him for suggestions for first time diners. He surprisingly suggested the least expensive thing on the menu, the bacon cheeseburger. When I asked why he said when you see the love and attention paid to this burger you will understand the rest of the menu. It was heaven. After a few beers and dessert we were ready to leave when the manager approached with a small cup and two spoons. He just placed it in front of us and said this should be on everybody"s bucket list. It was a berry gelatto that caressed the taste buds. The reason I wrote this is this guy knew we were from Baltimore. We would be in town two maybe three times a year, yet were treated like longtime customers. If someone knows where this level of hospitality exists, in a resort area, please let us know. Probably my first and last time coming here since I'm visiting from Nevada. But the food was decent. I got the smoked meatloaf Benedict which I thought was a little bit small. I think they should work on ensuring to give you better portions for the price that you pay. Just that alone cost me about $20, and while it was delicious, I expect to be full after paying that amount. My buddy got the tri tip, and a cookie skillet. He was still really hungry after the tri tip, and ordered the cookie skillet for dessert. The cookie skillet smelled and tasted amazing. Probably the best thing that they had to offer. But this place is very pricey, my friends meal with just those two items ran him about $40. In my opinion, this place is overpriced with small portions. The food took a while to come out, and the service was subpar. I think it would be better if they added some toast or potatoes to their brunch items. read more

My recent visit to 1608 Craft House left me utterly dismayed and thoroughly displeased. Upon ordering a simple burger, I anticipated a reasonable wait time. However, what ensued was an excruciating hour-long ordeal with still no sign of my meal. The blatant disregard for timeliness and customer satisfaction was evident, as the server made no discernible effort to address the delay or offer any form of compensation for the inconvenience caused. What truly exacerbated the situation was the nonchalant attitude displayed by the server, who seemed completely indifferent to my plight. Their lack of concern and failure to acknowledge the issue only served to heighten my frustration and disappointment. But maybe he was also frustrated as he knew the cooks were as slow as molasses. Who knows? It's baffling how a restaurant can operate with such blatant disregard for basic customer service principles. read more

Went there on NYE and all four of us ordered burgers. They were awesome. The beer selection was fantastic and the bottle of wine was very delicious. Emily was our waitress and she was very efficient and SUPER knowledgeable about anything on the menu, as well as on the beer list. The prices are reasonable, $14 for bacon cheeseburger with fries. Most top-shelf beers were $6-$8 (some were even 16 oz'ers). Menu said that over 90% of their craft beers were from within 250 miles of VA Beach. And, they serve cans because it is better for the environment. Those two things were pretty neat if you think about the reasons they go to these lengths. I stop by here whenever I'm on this side of VB. The food is amazing- hearty, comfort food perfect for this time of year. My favorites are the lamb meatballs with grits and the pork chops. Consistently delicious. The beer choice is the best, as is the service. The only reason I don't give another star is the place is not that comfortable. It's clean but, beside the booths, the chairs aren't that comfortable. Also, there are too many menus! We each got four! I have to applaud the creativity and flavors presented at this restaurant. I ordered a chicken and French toast entree with bourbon and strawberry jam and it was absolutely delicious!! The portion was huge, they offered butter and syrup, and kept the drinks flowing as well. Service can be slow, especially for brunch on the weekends. They occasionally have specials where they change up/add to the menu. They also have a jumbo mimosa that an experience in itself. Just bring a handful of your friends and enjoy brunch to the fullest lol. The ambiance is very relaxed and staff is very friendly. Lots of parking and close to town center. There was little to no wait, because we arrived…read moreright as they were opening. ;) We chose this restaurant for one of our breakfast outings because 1. it was close to our hotel (about a 10-15 minute drive from the Oceanfront) and 2. it is dog-friendly. The both of us, well three of us if you count the dog, enjoyed our meals. I went with the doggy-style version of the Chicken n Waffles. This take on the classic dish included: a bacon-infused waffle, fried chicken thigh, sausage gravy, candied bacon, and bourbon maple syrup. Overall, I enjoyed the dish with the small exceptions that the batter made the waffle really heavy for my personal tastes. I'm more of a fan of light, fluffy waffles. Unfortunately, I did not know this at the time, but the kitchen puts the syrup on the waffle for you. Personally, I like to add my own syrup because I do not like too much syrup on my waffles (and pancakes). However, those two minor issues did not take away from the dish. Also, the other aspects of the dish made up for those minor inconveniences. My partner ordered the Pongo, which was served with a fried chicken thigh, cheddar biscuit, scrambled egg, sausage gravy, house potatoes. If you are a fan of Bloody Marys, the restaurant has a selection of 4 or 5 interesting Bloody Marys. I went with the Porky's Revenge, which had bacon-infused vodka, Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix and a bacon-dusted rim. Both of us were quite pleased with our selections. Also, come here hungry because the serving sizes are quite large. Because of the large serving sizes, I thought the prices were relatively fair compared to other places the area. Actually, I would change "fair" to "generous". Both of our dishes were about 17 bucks with the 4ish dollar 'doggy style' add on. Generally speaking, our waitress was really on the ball. Although we were sitting outside, she frequently checked in us and was very professional while being funny. Hopefully, we can make another stop here during our next Va. Beach vacation adventure.
