I'm the middle of somewhere is where you're going to find this gem. We found this place on Yelp and SO glad we decided to eat here. It was a Sunday so they had their Sunday brunch menu which was small compared to your typical restaurant. But as a side note: the smaller the menu, the better your chances are of better food: and they definitely did not disappoint! Our group had a mixture of orders: kids chicken strips, bacon cheeseburger, chicken fried steak with chorizo gravy (yes, you read that correctly: chorizo gravy...and it was awesome), and of course your BLT! Everything was delicious! The decor was so beautiful. Out back you can go sit outside as the kids run around, running off their energy. This is a beautiful place inside and out with a interesting conmection to TX history...Although I love the ambience here, my dining experience was not as satisfying. On my visit I had the 10oz ribeye that came slightly overcooked unusally thin for a ribeye, and the price was a bit too steep..The mashed potatoe side was served cold and only in large family size portions. My husband got the 16oz ribeye that was also overcooked and overpriced..Honestly, for the money spent we could have had better ribeye steaks at Outback Steakhouse, with more pratcal side sizes to suit our individual tastes with a little money left over...I hope 2920 Roadhouse can tweak their menu portions and prices a bit as I would like to give it a second chance. read more

Food was really good, service was excellent, and ambience was quiet and relaxing. The view ... with lots of huge, old spreading oaks ... is beautiful. But, A La Carte pricing at a "roadhouse" seemed weird and wrong. On a related note, from a marketing perspective, choosing to call the place a "roadhouse" seems a mistake. This isn't a "beer, burgers and fries ... and paper napkins" kind of place. They must have put a ton of money into it, and it would more aptly be termed "better dining". They chose "roadhouse", I believe, in homage to the history of the property ... which is truly interesting and indeed "Historic". The name though is misleading. Would I go back? Sure! But, probably not in shorts, a t-shirt, and flip flops. read more

Friendliness was really good and all staff was welcoming and professional. The menu font difficult to read. You are advertising a Roadhouse and attempting to have a high dollar dining experience. I feel like you have to earn the right to charge $55 for a steak. Awkward upstairs seating and you need to be prepared for the stairway. Food was fresh and tasted pretty good. Servers were friendly and helpful. They had run out of a couple of brunch menu items by 1pm on a Sunday. The grounds are beautiful but the indoor dining area was a bit awkward in layout and didn't really give us an ambience to enjoy the view. We will go back to try the dinner menu. read more

Had a very nice meal. The staff was extremely friendly and top level service. I had the chicken fried steak which was very tender. My only complaint was the gravy had an odd flavor like uncooked flour added at the end. My wife had the smoked meatloaf and was out of this world and perfect. We had a good dining experience. The qual was tasty and moist not dried out. The shrimp was good and the bacon was not raw like most restaurants. The monkey bread which was complementary was to die for. My husband had a bourbon and seven which was more like a triple. 3 stars only because of service. God love em. The owners want to be good. They simply can't seem to find serving staff to help them get there. We continue to go because it's close to home and the food is always good. But if there are more than 3 tables being served at once the wait staff become disorganized and flustered quickly because of their lack of experience. They do have one server that seems to be experienced but she does double duty at the bar and cannot be everywhere. My suggestion is to put her over training the other servers and teaching them how to sell the restaurant by suggesting an alcoholic beverage, appetizer, and end with a suggestion for dessert. Give inanities for doing so like a contest to motivate them. Finally, have a designated hostess in place to greet and seat patrons when they walk in instead of leaving them unattended forcing them to peak in at the bar to see if anyone is working the front. The hostess can also tell patrons "bye" as they leave instead of letting them walk out without as much as a thank you. You can do it 2920. Stop putting your money into websites and events, and invest in servers. They are the salesmen of your restaurant. read more

The food - no complaint. In fact, it was very good. Went today at 12:45 pm for lunch. Place wasn't busy. Two tables with 2 patrons each. My server Heidi came and took my drink order to which I said, "Hey I'm ready to order." Not sure why I had the feeling the service would be slow. Unfortunately, I was spot on. I ordered the Mr. B's Bad Ass Burger and set my stop watch. My food arrived 20 minutes later. Why did it take so long? There's only a total of 4 patrons sitting on 2 separate tables. The burger did not disappoint. Served on a sour dough bun and it included deep fried jalapenos (nice touch) along with fresh toppings. The burger no doubt is 5-star. I had dinner here about a year ago when it first opened, so yeah I could see it could potential have service issues when it first opened. But this is Friday afternoon at roughly 12:45...and a year later. I may come back and if I do, I'll call my order ahead of time so it can be ready when I arrive. read more

My husband and I decided to visit the restaurant a few weeks ago, as we'd seen it driving by several times. We checked it out online and it looked nice with good food. We were disappointed. The food wasn't all that great, the service was not that great. We went for brunch on a Sunday mid-morning. We both ordered breakfast. The restaurant was not crowded. They had tables occupied but not crowded. The decor was nice and the inside was nice. Once we were seated it took awhile for someone to come greet us and take our drink order. Then the drinks (water) took awhile to get. Then the waitress finally came back to take our order. We both ordered breakfast. That took forever. In the meantime, while waiting, a few other employees (women) were walking in and out of the back door a few times. Obviously they went out to smoke because when they walked by our table they reeked of smoke smell. Once came by and checked on us and the smell was awful. Just want you want to smell when waiting on your food at a decent restaurant (or so you think). If the employees are on duty and they are going to be interacting with customers they should not be smoking. No one wants to smell smoke when they pass by or while you are eating your food. Once we finally got our food, it was just ok. We were disappointed because it looked like a nice place, but the food and service (and smoke smell) did not agree with us. I would highly recommend it! There's weren't enough stars to really represent how awesome this place was. I had the pork chop - to die for - so moist. The rice that came with my sons's salmon was awesome too. Grilled salmon was tasty. The starter dinner rolls with honey butter were soft and melt in your mouth. Service was extremely slow and the waitress acted like she had never done this before. No refills on drinks unless you could flag her down and wait again. Food was okay, they forgot the gravy and was nothing to rave about. We ordered the $48 ribeye steak and it looked like it was cooked in a stainless steel pan (no grill marks and no taste) and it was stringy and hard to cut. They said it was cooked over an open fire using 3 different woods...NOT! The salmon was good. All the sides were cold or at best tepid. Monkey bread was terrible. We were overcharged for the dessert. You cannot get a signal for your phone in the business and when complained the employees said they could not get reception, either. Asked for the wifi code they gave us one that was not correct. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the dessert was fantastic. We drove 30 miles to eat there and highly disappointed after spending $130.00. IF YOU LIKE STEAK---DO NOT GO! read more

Me and my husband just moved out here to Hockley, Tx. 6weeks ago. My husband is a 30yr. Executive chef so we went to 2920 Roadhouse reatraunt to try it out. The service was terrible and the food was horrible. After re wards, we ordered coffee which was old and tepid. We asked for a piece of cake. A brownie came out and THAT was terrible..I told this woman who was sitting at the front on her cell phone ,which she had been for the entire time we were and she responded sarcastically with," Sorry to hear" and got right back on her cell phone. Turns out, she was the owner!! Needless to say, we will never go back and I highly recommend you dont waste your time or money. read more

This is the third time we've eaten here - the other two times we had decent meals and service. Tonight was terrible - well, except for the steak, which my husband said was excellent. The parking lot was nearly empty and there were only a few tables in the first dining room being used - yet we were taken to an empty room and seated there (by the time we left, there were two other tables being used but still many tables in the main room empty). After ordering, our meals took nearly 1/2 hour to be brought out by someone other than our waitress. For the next 10 minutes, she was doing something at a computer while we needed water/tea refills and condiments. My husband finally waved her over but by the time she brought what we'd asked for, we were finished eating. When I said she should have checked sooner, she simply said "okay" and walked away - then came back a minute later and apologized, saying they were having computer problems. We overhead another table comment that the bartender must have died - they waited a very long time for drinks and the third table in the room was seated shortly after us and they'd only received bread by the time we left an hour later!. As we left, we explained our disappointment to the manager - she apologized briefly and said she hoped we'd come back but her attitude was very lackadaisical and uninterested. This was my birthday dinner celebration - sure wish I'd chosen a different place! read more

My mom and I stopped by here on Friday for lunch and this is by far some of the best authentic country cooking. My mom got the burger made from brisket and pulled pork and there's just no words! I've never had a meat patty melt in my mouth. I got the brisket grilled cheese with the fries that was to die for. I cannot wait to go back here. Misty was our server and bartender and she was so kind. Coming to eat here is like coming to eat at somebody's house which is the cherry on top of the wonderful food. The history of the house was fun to read about. Not to forgot to mention sitting outside is like sitting on somebody's property and eating. I can't say enough of this place. Loved the place. From the wait staff to the owner we were taken care of and treated great. Even our dog was welcomed. The loaded baked fries were excellent as well as the Granny Smith apple desert. My husband and I visited on a Friday night for date night for our first time. We dressed up, about like business casual thinking it was a little fancier based on the menu pricing and what they served. When we arrived, the grounds are just beautiful and quiet. I would not have been upset to wait if we could sit outside. We were seated right away which was great! As we were seated, I noticed we were surrounded by couples and families but most people were dressed for a burger joint. Some kids had basketball jerseys on from a school game. I felt way over dressed and several people were starring at us which was kind of weird. We ordered wine for our date night but the only wine selections were from about 3 local Texas wineries, 1 glass was the cost of the full bottle at HEB. I would have preferred more to choose from for the prices but we had 2 glasses each so it was not that bad. Our poor waitress ended up spilling her tray of 7-8 full wine glasses all over herself. She unfortunately did not return the tray and bring new glasses for the people she was serving. She served us 2 half full glasses from the ones she salvaged. That was disappointing. Not sure we even got what we ordered but we didn't want to cause a scene and she was so busy. Everything is served a la cart so there is a price for literally everything. Even green beans or mashed potatoes are an additional $6 each. A salad does come with your meal. They were very basic salads. Definitely iceburg lettuce and carrot slivers only. No tomato, onion or mixed greens. Just not what we expected. The complimentary monkey bread was fun and good but too much pimento cheese. Good but very rich. We ordered and split the fried asparagus and green been appetizer as our side. My husbands steak was good and my prawns were good but the presentation wasn't very appealing with just the meat, no garnishing . We may return sometime in the future. Maybe for a lunch or brunch. We ate here last night and had their special which was a garden salad, gumbo and dessert. The gumbo was very good. We shall go back again and try other things. It's nice to have something other than Mexican food to choose from and the atmosphere was casual and relaxing. We definitely will go back again. read more
