We chose this place based on yelp and google. Our server was a young man named Jan. He was knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. He was friendly and took good care of us. I had the burger and it was delicious! That's saying something since I'm not a big meat eater. My hubby had salmon and couscous. He said it was good. We topped our meal with blackberry crème brûlée. It was so good! Definitely recommend. Choose to walk in and find your own table rather than wait.

I love this place! We came here 3x when visiting Anchorage. The first night and the last night twice! lol. 49th was the only place open late and it had tons of seating, from the indoor dining, bar dining, roof top dining to the casual outdoor food truck area. The first night we dined in their bar area, which is first come first serve. They were super busy even at 9pm! We ordered the seafood chowder, it was thick, had some salmon pieces in it. A real seafood chowder and not just clams, it was tasty. For me, I ordered their king salmon with couscous, some veggies, and a tzatziki sauce. It was good. I liked mine better than my friends who ordered a parm crusted halibut, and lots of vegetables. Hers was a bit dry. My old fashion that I got was terrible. It was all watered down and horribly made. Someone needs bartending classes. Stick with their beers or house made hard seltzers or sparkling water. I did get their frontier grapefruit sparkling water and it was awesome. Our second time, I really wanted a reindeer sausage, and to my luck, they had one at the food truck area. We like the food truck area better, it was laid back, live music, some bar games, nice weather outside and even an ice cream truck too. The sausage came with caramelized onions and bacon. It satisfied my reindeer sausage cravings. For drinks, I got their tundra berry (blackberry cloudberry) hard seltzer and it was so good! I loved it. We came back after dinner and I got their other 2 hard seltzers, glacier gold (pineapple white strawberry) and tropic chill (guava raspberry). I could only drink half of each since I was so full from dinner. But I enjoyed it and wish they sold it in California! One of the best hard seltzers I've had. It's so bubbly and you can taste fruit without it being sweet. I'll definitely come back if I were in Alaska.

Great bar food, and service was pretty fast for a busy Friday afternoon. I tried the yak burger and the s'mores dessert to share with the table. Plenty of tv's so ideal for a sports night. Very thematic if you want to immerse yourself in the Alaska sports bar scene. Food was great for bar food

We grabbed some lunch at 49th State Brewing. First level is first come, first serve. Second level- check in with the host. Usually a wait. Service is great. Friendly and fast. Everyone seems to be from another country so pretty interesting. They have everything to drink. We tried a couple of their beers- both were great. Food was good. Their Yak burger is amazing! Never tried Yak before but loved the burger. Caesar salad was tasty. Added salmon and it was pretty dry but still good. Beautifully decorated. They even have a little fire pit inside. Very cool. Great view of the sound, as well.

If I could recommend one place to go in Anchorage, I think this would be it. I have been here multiple times now and have never been disappointed. They have great food and great service and the atmosphere is so Alaskan and perfect for a vacation. They have a huge bar just for drinks. Huge menu of delicious food. And indoor and outdoor seating with a great view of the water.

Good customer service, good view, nice ambiance. Halibut sandwich was quite dry, we were told it was juicy... Good sodas, the getting enjoyed it. The fish and chips is all the hype, very yummy and flakey! The grilled cheese was good, the bread was harder than I thought though. I'd recommend this for groups and it's in a great part of downtown. It's good for Alaska, the food overall for the group was 7/10.

Pros: -friendly staff -cozy ambience -fun beer flavors and unique Alaskan food items -honestly, some of the best food we have had while in Anchorage (many other spots are underwhelming) Cons: -food isn't as great / juicy as the staff and locals make it out to be -long wait times for food -menu for flights is confusing and lack of pricing makes it difficult to gauge your cost Despite the cons, I still think this place has some of the best food in the area. I would highly recommend you stick to the top items like fried halibut (get three because they are small) because it was amazing and grab some chowder! Other items like the crab burger were dry.

We had to stop by given all the recommendations we got when arriving in Alaska! I was a bit skeptical being vegetarian if we'd find much to eat. They had a few options and they did them really well. The street corn and Spicy Buddha bowl were both vegan and so good! The bowl in particular is huge! The bowl is not spicy contrary to its title. You can get the chili powder on the side. Could be shared between two people. Tables are hard to get but the first floor has open seating if you can snag some spots. We were on a 1 hour waitlist for Tuesday night! Decided to just sit along the wall, which is sort of like bar seating. A bit challenging to balance plates on small wooden ledges. Also hard to figure out who our server was or where to get a menu. Once we visited the front checkin they noted a server would join us soon. Normally wait staff brings you water or refills glasses. Here we had water bottles at the table but had to request cups. Again, just took more time to track down a server and get things. The restaurant is spacious with an upstairs level and private party room. Feels like a mix between a rustic bar and tavern.

Today we had an awesome lunch at 49th st brewing. We arrived at the location and noticed a line out the door....not good. We waited to give our name and was told it would be at least a half hour wait, I said that's fine and we went into the bar for a drink. We were given a buzzer. I went to taste a beer and in no more than 5 min I got a message that our table was ready.... Great news. Adam was our waiter who took great care of us. He was patient and educated us about the menu. I ordered the roasted salmon over couscous which was delicious. My wife had the halibut fish n chips which was soo delicious. Our friends ordered the fish tacos which were amazing and the Halibut burger which they both enjoyed! Everything was amazing and delicious!

Pano from rooftop, 4 stories up. Awesome industrial view.

Always a good time. What's better than having a beer or two on a Friday afternoon on the rooftop. We didn't have any food, so I can't opine. Overall an excellent afternoon in the sun and 70°+.

Best view for a dinner ever!!!! Got the halibut and the Crab grilled cheese. The crab grilled cheese is definitely a must try, but it is heavy. Very good though. The halibut! Delicious...... (hate to put this in a review, you won't go wrong getting the halibut but F street Bar wins on which I thought was best- and it's way cheaper- but you don't have the view at F street bar) so WIN/WIN. Either way. I can't wait to come back to 49th state brewery and enjoy more food and more view! Oh the bread pudding!!!! Finally found a good one. This is the best bread pudding I have had in years!!! Order it

Cool brewery. Lots of levels with amazing views. Convenient location. Plenty of seating. They even have merch. You can also grab their beers in store. So if don't want to stay and eat can still swing by yo grab their beers. We sat at too level. There are many different ones and lots of great scenery. The flowers are beautiful. We ordered beer that was okay. Also had a Paloma that was meh. Ordered the flatbread with reindeer sausage and some other meat and that was tasty. Mac and cheese was also good. A great place for a meal or just to hang for sure. Service was amazing. Very accommodating and super friendly!!!

Huge, vibrant brewpub with a water view and outdoor patio. Lots of interesting beers and cocktails. We sat on the upper patio at the bar - bartender was friendly and helpful. It did start raining while we were there and unfortunately the bar does not have any cover to it, but it added to the experience. We had a salmon bowl and the crab grilled cheese. Both were huge portions and delicious, salmon chowder that came with the crab grilled cheese was especially delicious!

I had checked their menu online while waiting to be checked in at the hotel. We ordered a chowder flight, a bowl of the Sea Harvest chowder, a side of bread, a house salad with added salmon, and stuffed mushrooms. Since these were already pre cooked or starters & salad, our food came out quickly. All were very good. My only complaint was the added salmon for the salad was only available in 6oz. It was huge. I wish they would offer half that size. That 6oz portion was also $1 more than the price of the house salad. I did not see that on the menu; it may have been in fine print.

With our reservation, we were seated pretty quickly, and I thought the restaurant had a cute nautical feel inside. I ordered a cider, and Colby ordered a glass of wine. For our appetizer, we shared the chowder sampler, which, being from Cape Cod, I had never seen before. The presentation was super cute, with each chowder served in its own tiny mug. All three were delicious and tasted freshly made. For my meal, I ordered the fish & chips, which were very good. I was a little disappointed that one piece of fish was missing batter on one side, but overall everything was still quite tasty. The bathrooms were clean, and I found the staff to be generally friendly, aside from a few comments that we chose to let slide. Overall, this was a really nice spot for local seafood, and there is plenty of free parking outside. We would definitely recommend it if you're looking for fresh seafood while visiting Anchorage.

Most often, I leave a steak house thinking I could make a better steak for a fraction of the price at home. This was not the case here. The service was also good, which is a nice change for the area. We live here and quite frankly, the service in the Anchorage area is usually pretty marginal. So, that was a pleasant surprise. However, the sides are quite expensive and billed as "family style" but they are a single serving really. The exception was the Parker House rolls which I think came out 5 to an order. They were pulled apart and the sides of the rolls were dry, as if they had been plated up and set under a heat lamp for too long. The risotto was prepared incorrectly. It was mushy with no hint of the classic al dente. I think if they can't take the time to cook that dish correctly, they should consider taking it off the menu as it is a marker for a good meal in my opinion. The wedge salad was pretty standard fare, with a couple of heirloom tomato slices that were also mushy (although, I can forgive that given where we live as the lettuce was crisp and nice) The other side we ordered was a special, fiddlehead ferns, served braised. They were tasty, and the best non steak item we had, but a small portion and, I think $23, which seemed quite expensive. I think the next time we go, we will just share a steak with a glass of wine and skip the overpriced 15-25 side dishes.

The beverage menu is very well done, with great cocktails and thoughtful mocktails that felt just as crafted. For food, our starters set a high bar; the pork buns, pickles, and octopus were all flavorful and well prepared. The ramen itself was delicious and hits the spot in the Alaska weather, with deep, tasty broths and bold flavors throughout. The Dark Horse was especially good. Besides this, everything else was great so I did not deduct any stars. Let me explain. We were a party of 4 and just arriving from NY, we were hungry. We walked in at about 4:30-4:45. We asked for a table for 4. We were told the wait will be over an hour. They asked if we would like to sit at the bar area, same food and probably would get service quicker. I said sure. We both want to look for a table and there were none, so I just told the staff that we will go to the bar area and wait while having a drink. We were given a buzzer. We came across a Maria bar table with a nice couple sitting there, and 2 open seats. I asked if we could sit there and they said of course. They then Deb moved over 2 seats arguing gave us 4 seats. I was do thankful for them being so nice that I picked up their bar tab. I noticed that the dining area has at least 5 open tables for 4 and 1 for 6+. I went up to the desk and told them this. We had a great time with Marco and our new friends next to us. I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab which was outstanding. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. We ordered iced tea and it was good which some places serve water it's okay so i would have been happy only drinking water which I normally have a hard time doing. I started off with a cup of clam chowder especially when I am in a city that is by the ocean and know for seafood. It was a good cup of chowder (thinking it in a Boston accent). The bread was delicious. They had king salmon on the menu so I had to get it. It was fresh and had a great taste. My wife had the roasted chicken Dijon. She said the chicken was moist and had a good flavor. Our waiter was attentive and the place had a great view of the bay.

I don't like writing this and just think it was a flawed recipe, others may like it. My first trip…read moreto Anchorage I ate here three times it was sooo good (mostly halibut cheeks). Ordered the halibut cheeks this week and could not have been more disappointed. Friend the same but with scallops. Why would you pan fry them in Asiago cheese? It makes no sense, over powered the delicate halibut cheeks and scallops let alone way overcooked them. Severely disappointed. Waiter and atmosphere and was great, not his fault. That being said, everything else here I have ever had is delicious. I would return here for sure but just don't order newish seafood cheese combo dishes. Drinks, ambiance, service, view all amazing per usual.

First time trying this place; will not come back! Had a 4:15pm reservation, got seated, and it took…read morewell over 15min for anyone to come around to take our drink order. In addition to that, took about an hour for our salads and appetizers to come out. The waiter was beyond slow, and kept telling us how awful his 1st week had been and how the restaurant had run out of most of the food menu and some drinks. We had to ask for water (twice) because he kept getting sidetracked (mind you, there were probably about 2 other groups on the restaurant side). The steaks were overcooked and didn't have much flavor. Honestly, the sides were probably the only decent part of the meal (almost another 50min after salads). By this time; patience was running thin all around. When asked where their bathrooms were located; the woman (presumably a manager of some sort) proceeds to tell us about having 3 restrooms in the restaurant and how one had a hole in the wall because someone punched a hole in it (because it was Father's Day)?! and she just did her best to cover it with a piece of paper because she's not a contractor, what the heck does my knowing any of that useless information have to do with where the bathroom was located? (Still wondering...) We were definitely not impressed with this place; we asked for our desserts "to go" and they still got our order wrong. Oh- and apparently everyone else was offered bread as they waited, yet my group was not. Definitely, do not recommended, unless you're not hungry and have 1/2 a day to waste. Save your time and money; go someplace else!
