Was so looking forward to a bagel breakfast- ordered the #1 lox / capers / sprouts, looked so good, but when I bit into it (and took out the onions ) it was a disproportionate amount of cream cheese (alot ) with a disproportionate amount of salmon (a paper thin slice) , the only thing that salvaged those 3 stars (in the rating) was the fresh squeezed juice (orange - lemon-ginger-carrot) . Now it's not the establishments fault, but the parking is only 24 minutes- WTF City of Long Beach? read more

I stayed at a hotel exactly 1/2 a mile away from this bagel shop and wasn't sure of the parking situation so i decided to walk there. Super easy to find! I went in the morning and noticed the line was long! The line grew longer and longer. Enjoyed my bagel and cream cheese and I even ordered a latte! I purchased the dozen and a tub of cream cheese and I'm so glad that I did! Super delicious combo and I can't wait to go back when I'm craving bagels! read more

The Asiago and cheese bagel with bacon egg and cheese is quite good. I've never had this type of bagel,l and it was so crispy and delicious. Lots of flavor with the cheese. Really fresh as well. 5th Ave bagel has tons of options. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is also nice. Outdoor seating is perfect for a nice day. Prices are so reasonable. Definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Consistently delish and thoughtfully made bagels. A dependable bagel place with a wide variety of drinks, a kind and helpful staff and a cozy vibe. I get the heavenly veggie- I got it one time and I haven't needed to try anything else it's just so exactly what I want always. I wish I knew their names- but the girl with the curly hair the the other young girl who's always on bagel duty deserve a raise. They actually make the bagels sooooooooooo good and they're so beyond kind to everyone. I sincerely hope those girls make more than minimum wage, because they be making those bagels like they get paid 25 an hour. read more

Inside the place has many tables. I came in the morning time and it was busy. They do have a large variety of flavors. Service: friendly and attentive. Ordered a dozen bagels. And a sandwich. Why the 5 stars? I found all the bagels savory. I had everything, sesame, onion. Here were my reasons: 1. They are seasoned perfectly, right amount of salt and sugar. They tasted a robust in flavor. A bagel should be slightly savory and can even have a little sour tang from well-fermented dough. 2. They have the right amount of chew. Both in the crust and crumb (see also #4 below), and chewy and "bagel-y". 3. Good bagel should have a crust that is at minimum golden browned, or darker (they were all perfect). 4. They toast up with a grainy crispness. IMO a good bagel should toast up with an even crispiness, almost like you are grilling a sandwich on a flat top grill and be uniformly crispy from being slightly chewy and dense. They had all that and more. 5. Cream cheese was full of flavor as the other spreads I tried. I'm pretty picky about my bagels. There are lots of chains that don't do bagels well, so my search for great bagels in Long Beach complete. read more

My coworker told me of this place and we walked here during lunch so I can try it. It was so so delicious! I got the veggie deluxe and added chicken. It was so so good, but next time I probably will definitely skip the cream cheese because that bagel sandwich of mine must've been 1000 calories. It was so huge I actually shared some of it to my other coworker so they can try it. Like most food places in LB, it's pricey for a bagel sandwich but I think it was worth it! It was so good! I would come during breakfast time to try other bagel sandwich and their chai latte! read more

Super soft bagels. Turns out a ny style bagel that's pretty dense and hard to chew isn't the greatest. I found these bagels to be slightly above average taste but texture was fantastic. They make for a great sandwich being really soft and light. egg and cheese on a sesame I found to be pretty bland with almost no flavor. Not to say it was bad but I couldn't taste the cheese at all and the egg was unseasoned. Maybe a pinch of salt and pepper would do it justice. (This was my first time there and maybe it was offered on the side. But placing a Togo order I didn't know I'd need to ask) I could really only taste the bagel which I wish was slightly more toasted. It was more warmed than toasted. Bacon egg and cheese croissant. This was a bit better and I'd recommend to just about anyone. Croissant was huge and buttery. Again light texture just like the bagel. The bacon and croissant amplified this one again the egg did very little and the cheese was basically nonexistent. A little seasoning on the eggs and this would 100% be a go to. For not it's just ok and I'd go back if I was in the mood. read more

Inside the place has a few tables. I came in the afternoon after lunch time was empty, not surprising for a bagel place, with a bunch of the bagel stock depleted. They do have a large variety of flavors. Service: friendly and attentive. Ordered a dozen bagels. So why 3 stars? I found all the bagels underwhelming. I had everything, sesame, onion. Here were my issues: 1. They are slightly underseasoned somehow, maybe not enough salt or too much sugar or something. They tasted a little flat. A bagel should not taste sweet; it should be slightly savory and can even have a little sour tang from well-fermented dough but never taste flat. 2. They don't have the right amount of chew. These aren't chewy enough, both in the crust and crumb (see also #4 below), more bready than dense and chewy and "bagel-y". 3. Good bagel should have a crust that is at minimum golden browned, or darker (they were all pretty pale, Slightly undercooked but not raw). 4. They toast up with a grainy crispness, like the crumb is drying up. I'm really glad I finally came here! I'll probably come here for lunch now from time to time... perfect walking distance and I've been really happy with the food here. The food is ready in fairly quick and reasonable time. I had a blueberry bagel with cream cheese one day and it was delicious. Good amount of cream cheese and toasted perfectly. Next time I tried the 5th Ave Special which is what I understand to be a lox bagel. I was reallllly happy with it, I think partly cuz I was skeptical and not sure if I'd even like it. It was SO good. Not cheap, but I mean you're buying salmon and stuff. Totally worth it I'd say. I keep thinking about it lol. No complaints at all so far. I'll be back for sure. read more

What I got: - Tuna salad on jalapeño cheese bagel: $6.99 Lettuce, tuna, tomato, cucumber and red onion. Honestly pretty decent, borderline large, bagels, stuffed with the tuna salad. Definitely worth the money and the bagel was fresh. Got a side of pickle with it, which is awesome. It's a pretty sizeable handful and I'm glad it comes precut in half. - 5th Avenue on Asiago bagel: $8.99 Lox, cream cheese, tomato, purple/red onion, capers, served open face. Again, pretty good bagels; not dense or hard. You get a good amount of lox on there's a thick spread of cream cheese, good amount of purple onions, and thick slice of tomatoes. - Freshly squeezed orange juice (large; 24 Oz; 681 ml): $4.50 This was worth it. Tasted pretty fresh, no additional sugar, and a good quantity. Definitely recommend! COVID-19 guidelines were roughly followed, which is why I'm giving this place four stars. Everyone wore masks and they require it for entry - that was stellar -, but the one star loss was because of the lack of social distancing being followed or clear markers for where to wait for pick-up for ordering. There's no dine-in, but they have some seats available outside for Al fresco dining. Service takes a while; there's one person taking the orders, another making the drinks, and a third handling the food. I'll be going back for more for sure and if you're in the area, craving bagels, this is a good mum-and-pop small business to support. read more

I have been here twice and this time was even better than the first. Right as you walk in it's a feel at home sensation with the set up. It's a perfect eatery for bagel lovers in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Service was exceptional with friendly cashiers which made it easy to order.Right away I ordered a jalapeño cheese turkey bagel with the works and let me tell you it did not disappoint. The freshness of the bagel which included the turkey, avocado, mayo, mustard along with provolone, lettuce, pickles, and tomato and the alfalfa sprouts was a nice surprise crunch to the sandwich. I will definitely be back one of the best bagel sandwiches I've had in years. Do yourself a favor and check them out and if your local go walk over to them. read more

On an early walk in a brisk cloudful Saturday morning, I find 5th Ave Bagelry. Originally from New Jersey, I take a chance on finding a satisfying bagel meal. Customer service is good; even with a seemingly busy morning, the employees seem to be working efficiently. I don't wait long for the meal. The Heavenly Veggie Deluxe tastes good! The meal is to savor bite by bite, and I prefer to eat one bagel half at a time. The red onions give the meal a necessary zest. Seasoning balances the Avocado texture. Tomatoes make the meal juicier while adding a subtle sweet flavor. The Vegan cream cheese is a solid base which makes the bagel more comfortable to eat. All the ingredients mesh so well together. The pickle is a boost of food juice flavor inbetween bagel halves that makes the flavors of the bagel more present, to me. read more

I placed my oder the day before online, pick up set for 7:10am. Ive never ordered from here before and wasn't sure how this would go. I lucked out and got the corner parking spot, ran in, told them my name and I was back out the door in a flash!! The bagels were fresh, the cream cheese was GONE so thats a good sign of how tasty it was. Now a dozen bagels for $30 bucks felt steep, but i guess that's how it goes these days. I like grabbing a bagel here to-go every once in a while because there is such a variety and its location. It's pretty packed in the morning but the line moves fairly fast. Plenty of seatings if you want to sit and eat too. The bagels are decent - I like the lox bagel and breakfast bagel. I was disappointed that my last breakfast bagel was burnt though and I didn't find out until I got home. It's a shame because I know they see the bagel before they wrap it, but still decided to give it to their customers. Honestly I just pulled off the burnt sections and will probably come back again in the future because of its location, but just wanted other customers to be aware. read more

Dropped in this cute lil bagel shop while visiting my favorite coffee spot! Don't judge!!! It was crowded. They have many bagel choices. We got a cinnamon bagel. A breakfast bagel with cheese and egg, and a Strawberry smoothie. Bagel-3 /5- has honey and butter added, but it was hard to find. The bagel was Def basic. Little to no flavor but fresh. Sandwich- 4/5-the breakfast sandwich was pretty delish. Big and meaty with fluffy egg. Smoothie-3/5 - It was good and fresh. Basically, this spot is a quick neighborhood stop with solid fresh choices for breakfast or lunch. Parking is limited, but there is a garage 2 minutes from the door. If you are in the Downtown Long Beach area, give them a try. read more

Can't believe it's been over 4 years since my last review here! I was a little disappointed with that visit and I knew it would be a while before I returned, but my bf is a big fan of bagels and bagel sandwiches, so he's frequented 5th Ave. I decided to finally revisit yesterday, and I'm glad I did! We wanted something easy to eat while we brought our dog to run around at a recently re-opened dog beach, and bagel sandwiches sounded perfect. I ended up getting the same thing I ordered before, the Fifth Avenue: lox, cream cheese, tomato, onion, capers with added sprouts on a wheat everything bagel. There were more pieces of smoked salmon than my previous order and every ingredient tasted fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich, as did bf with his customized bagel with light jalapeño cream cheese and pepper lemon seasoning. The staff was really friendly and efficient. One was managing the register, another prepared the sandwiches and a third the drinks. I've had better iced coffee elsewhere, but at least they have a variety of beverages to choose from. It was nice to see other customers coming in to place orders, but respecting physical distance with masks. I will definitely be back to support this small business again in the near future! read more

I ordered 1 Doz. Assorted Bagels to take for mtg in SFV. They were huge, were so delicious, super fresh & they asked if I wanted them sliced. They sliced them w/o a charge. I was taking them to a group that included many Jewish ladies & several asked where i had gotten them as they liked them. sadly for them they're not local to Lb ! read more

The line looks long outside, as there are no reservations, but it moves quickly since they hold everybody to a pretty strict 2-hour time limit. The drinks are good, the cups are cute, and everyone is festive. It's an all-around fun experience. I think because of this, you do pay a premium price tag for food and drinks that are just good or okay. I think it's something that is worth the visit if you've never been and you enjoy getting into the Christmas spirit. I think that outside of the pop-up, The Ordinarie is a fun spot to check out in Long Beach. It't not a pillar of the food scene if you're a tourist, but it is a good, late night spot if you work in the industry nearby. They have a great late-night menu with a killer smash burger.

I had difficulty cutting through the crust with a knife. There is a lot of cayenne in their hollandaise sauce, not my favorite version. The thick slice of tomato was the highlight. Side of bacon $6 for two measly pieces - overcooked and too crunchy. I could tell the bacon would have been good if it was more on the meaty/chewy side. This came with a potato pancake which was like mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and then fried. Service was okay, I think because it was pretty busy. They may need more staff to help the servers with drink refills and to check in more frequently. Lastly, our table was very wobbly and we had to fix it with sugar packets otherwise our drinks would have toppled.

We had the grilled artichoke, chicken piccata, and the cioppino. All very very delightful. During our dining experience I needed to use the restroom. The smell in their bathroom was amazing. Probably one of the best smelling restrooms I had ever. When I was leaving, I politely ask the hostess if she knew what the name of the smell was bc it was so awesome. She wasn't telling me the exact name. She essentially told me the essence. While in the middle of her talking, a female manager aggressively told us that they were not aloud to tell patrons the scent. Hey, I get it, but as a person who was a manager for one of the highest ranking upscale casual dining restaurants, who has worked in 5 star resorts, knowing how to provide kindness to both guests and staff, this manager did not present those skills. This manager was quite frankly disrespectful not only to her staff, but to me. There is a way to handle situations without embarrassing your staff member and making them feel small and showcasing your flex of power to a diner who was about to drop hundreds for a dinner in our volatile economy. This manager did NOT handle this appropriately. Like i said, she was rude, extremely aggressive to respond, and not once smiled and said, "I'm so glad you love it. It's our secret to get you to come back." She did try to say it was a secret, but seriously... with the way she treated her staff.... I think she better focus on hospitality rather than the scent in the bathroom. After this interaction, I actually watched and observed the manager during the remaining time of our dinner. I wanted to see how she interacted with her staff. I wanted to see if she knew how to manage without flexing on her staff bc obviously she doesn't know that words matter and what you say and how you say it can make or break your staff's entire night which can reflect on how they treat their guests. I get this is lengthy over a restroom scent, but as a person who thrives on seeing the beauty in how a management team can make a huge impact on the success of a company, if she's openly rude and aggressive to me and her hostess, how is she with the rest of the staff and guests? Just a little food for thought. I will say, that interaction totally changed my view for the remaining time of our dinner. I truly hope that the female manager who was working last night June 1 reads this and changes the way she handles situations. From what I saw and experienced, she needs to take a step back and regroup. She needs to be retrained on how to treat her staff, how to smile with kindness, and how to kindly make a joke about the scent kindly with laughter rather than an attack on her staff. To the hostess: I'm sorry you had to be treated that way. You were incredibly kind from upon greeting us even to the very end. You're awesome. I'll return back, but I do hope next time, the manager from last night is on a better wave length as the people who help create her position. There are a lot of great managers out there willing to take that place.

Was here yesterday but decided to come back one more time before writing a review because I thought there was no way it could be as good as yesterday. It did not disappoint. I've had the 5th Avenue, prosciutto, and the pizza bagel sandwiches over the last two days as well as the "the works", garlic, Asiago cheese, Hawaiian and spinach parmesan bagels. All of them were good but if you are only trying one today start with the 5th Avenue!! I've had lox bagels before but this was on another level. Smoked salmon, capers, tomatoes, cream cheese and I don't know what the heck they do to the onions but THE best onions I've had on a bagel. If you're here I'm the morning get the orange juice, and for lunch try the smoothies (summer chills I liked the best so far.). The prices are amazing, the bagels are great and the staff and owner are the best. It does tend to get super busy right now but it's well worth the wait. Try it, you'll thank me later. read more
