This is my go to spot when I'm up early in the morning and looking to get a quick breakfast before adventuring out on the town (usually on the weekends). I've had the ham/egg/cheese croissant sandwich, the bagel with lox and the pizza bagel as well as the Vietnamese coffee. Everything is always fresh and reasonably priced. I placed my oder the day before online, pick up set for 7:10am. Ive never ordered from here before and wasn't sure how this would go. I lucked out and got the corner parking spot, ran in, told them my name and I was back out the door in a flash!! Breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day. I am always looking for new places to try. About two weeks ago I found 5th Ave Bagelry and decided to try them, I guess they have only been open a couple of months. I have since visited them three times. To be honest, I had another morning bagel place I frequented (a lot closer to my house), but everything just seems so much fresher and I think better quality at this establishment, really. I won't say the name of my other morning bagel place (or my post will get deleted) but I used to think the tomatoes were on the cheaper side and the onions seemed older because I got more of the inside rind of the onion. I don't know if anyone will even understand what I mean. I was never truly happy and I always thought when I got the lox and bagel something seemed off about the taste, but I kept going back. I also think the bagels here seem tastier and fresher, but I'm sure fresher may not be the case as I'm sure they all make the bagels on the same day, but something about their bagels do taste better. read more

Food was super tasty. We got the turkey bagel sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich on a sun dried tomato bagel. Also tried their Thai tea and a chocolate muffin. Everything down to the very last crumb was delicious. Their bagels are hearty and an excellent flavor. I came here with my friend and I ordered the fifth Avenue bagel sandwich while she ordered the simply veggie. The portions were huge. I really enjoyed my bagel and took half of it home too. I'm a huge fan of this mom and pop bagelry in Long Beach. Their bagels are baked daily. I've been here many times, and from what I see, their best sellers are Blueberry Bagels and Salt Bagels. I love to order with Cream Cheese spread. They also have baked croissant (limited) and fresh squeezed orange juice. One time, a buddy recommended that I try their jalapeno spread. Turned out it's just regular cream cheese with chopped jalapeno. If you prefer your bagel with a slight kick, this spread may be for you. Note: Ask for the stamp card. After ten orders, you can get one for free. WHAT I USUALLY ORDER: SALT BAGEL WITH SPREAD - I love my bagel toasted. The slight burnt texture provides a bit of a crunch and toasty flavor. I also love how they are very generous with the cream cheese on the bagel. I think the total cost came out to around $3, which is a healthier alternative than McDonald's. read more

We tried two of the bagel sandwiches: turkey cheese and an open-faced veggie, both on jalepeno cheese bagels. Would give zero stars if possible. Watched a guy working there bring out fresh bagels to add to the display of all the bagels. He dropped one on the floor. He picked it up. I was curious as to what he would do with it and thought surely he would throw it away, but instead he looked around and put it right on top of all the other fresh bagels to sell to unknowing customers. This was behind the counter where everyone is walking around and the floor is dirty. Absolutely disgusting. Will never go here again. The food is ok but this place is not clean. Best bagelry I've ever tried! So glad it's walking distance for me. Brandon is super attentive and friendly. I go in regularly and have been helped by others (one who really just didn't seem to be paying attention at all) - Brandon is the best. I've not tried their sandwiches, but people are always there - it is definitely a local favorite. Ambiance is casual and usually busy - come early if you want to have a wider selection of bagels as they do run out. Also, it gets really warm inside. If your waiting in line, whether it's hot or cold outside, be ready to sweat. I get a baker's dozen and freeze the bagels to enjoy over a couple of weeks. My personal favorites are the Asiago spinach and the pesto. We regularly get the salt, egg, and the sun dried tomato bagels. we also love their veggie cream cheese. Not a fan of their cheddar - literally, just a plain bagel with a slice of melted cheddar on it. But their jalapeño cheddar is okay. Like I said, I freeze them. They really do keep nicely - I warm them in a toaster oven and they come out crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. LOVE THESE BAGELS. The reason I'm not giving five stars is every time I'm there, it takes an abnormally long time. When there is a long line, it makes sense. But most of the time there might be only 1-2 other people and it takes 20 minutes to get a bagel. I recognize they are also receiving online orders, but it can be frustrating to wait a long time for a single bagel. Pretty dang good bagels. They offer a wide variety of bagels from plain and poppy seed to jalapeño cheddar. This is a great spot to grab a quick bite but you should plan on getting here early because they sell out fast! When we arrived around 11am they were out of most of the bagels. We shared the heavenly veggie and a Thai tea and it was great. Will probably plan on visiting earlier next time so we can try their other bagels read more

The workers were nice though and answered any questions we had. I got my order pretty fast but it was just 3 bagels and 3 sides of cream cheese- one of which was their honey walnut but the 3oz tub wasn't filled all the way and even had a diced jalapeño in it. Besides that the bagels I got were mediocre: Onion, Garlic and Cinnamon Sugar. My boyfriends order on the other hand took around 30-40 minutes for his chicken bacon bagel sandwich which was somewhat cold when he got it and when his order was finally done that's when a worker came up to us and asked "what we were waiting for." read more

I went in today and let them know they only gave me half of my order just 2 days ago. they offered no apology and no regret. Fine. if i had time i would have gone back that day. I lived in the apartments above this bagelry for over three years. I wasn't aware of it at first, when I finally saw it and decided to try it out one day it changed my everyday life. For the most part this spot was my go to for food before I went to work every day. However, it was a lot more than that. They have a huge menu with smoothies, baked goods and even sandwiches. My go to was a jalapeno cheese, chocolate chip and everything bagel. The bagels are good with just cream cheese or if you're feeling fancy as I would sometimes you can get it with eggs and bacon. Just a coffee and bagel would get me through to lunch most days and I am grateful for that. The staff was ever changing. The tall girl and the girl with rad hair(at some point) I would see every time I came. Service was fast and always got my order correct. They even walk up to you when its done. I miss hanging out front and people watching. The inside is cool too and has great art in progress. Prices for menu items are more than fair and the quality is good. They will sell out on some days because by the time its near closing time, nothing will be left so come early. I am grateful for this place and service to downtown area.
