Now I understand why Simon's garlic chicken was the most popular order; I couldn't stop eating more than two portions of their crispy sweet chicken. My former date loved their Beef Ho Fun which was more flavorful and less oily, even the noodles were covered in soy sauce well. The Xiao Long Bao was okay; I expected it to be more soupy. It's best to try other dim sum dishes. The service was pleasant at first, but once they got busy it took a long time to flag one of the waiters for a check and takeout boxes. What's nice is that they accept Apple and Google Pay, which you had to go up to the register to scan your phone. Overall, the restaurant was clean and modern. I give this restaurant a 4 starts the food was good the egg rolls were AMAZING. Definitely recommend those. We did not dine in as there was a looonnnggg line so we ordered and picked it up to go. But the food was ready pretty quickly. The ambience when I arrived for pick up was chill. One of the managers was super nice made sure we had everything. Fam and I decided to come here after spending half the day at the exploratorium. Mind you we were soooo hungry and tired but decided to walk the 20min since I've had this place bookmarked for a bit. We get there, it wasn't too busy so they were able to accommodate us and placed us at a table by the window. The interior was modern and very airy, and the hostess and servers were very nice and attentive. On to the food. We ordered their garlic chicken, scallion pancakes, chow mein (?) and the salt and pepper fish. Scallion pancakes was good, although I wouldn't mind a dipping sauce for it. The garlic chicken was great as well. My kids (who are picky eaters) both loved this dish. The noodles, were okay, no complaints, but the vegetables in the noodles were crisp and fresh. Now on to the star of the show-- the salt and pepper fish. Best S&P I've ever had. It was tasty, crispy on the outside and very tender/flaky on the inside. We were seated quickly during peak lunch hours on Sunday and ordered: salt and pepper fish, sesame chicken, pea sprouts, string beans, and fried rice. A highlight was the Salt and Pepper Fish. This came out piping hot and the breading was SO thin and crispy. I hope they never take this off their menu. Their Hong Kong style iced lemon tea was very refreshing and I loved the fresh lemons paired with black tea. Make sure to stab the lemons to get all the lemon juice! String beans had an unexpected spicy kick to it (this isn't usually a spicy dish, so be aware if you have a very low spice tolerance) I'll be back to try more of their Cantonese style dishes like Beef Hor Fun, dim sum, and HK style milk tea. read more

I ordered the Wor Wonton soup expecting a classic, Cantonese-style comfort dish. Instead, the soup contained zucchini, which is not traditional for this dish and significantly altered the flavor. The zucchini released a strong vegetal taste into the broth, which overpowered the soup and affected the flavor of the meat and wontons. The result was a broth that tasted off and unpleasant, and I wasn't able to finish it. I ordered this specifically as comfort food and was disappointed. Because this dish was so heavily modified from the traditional preparation, I no longer feel confident that other menu items wouldn't be similarly altered. I almost want to gatekeeper this place because I love it so much. Located between China Town and North Beach, 606 offers delicious Hong Kong style cuisine. They have Yelp waitlist which makes it easy to snag a table and the ambiance is clean and comfortable. The first time I went here, I tried the salt and pepper chicken wings, simons garlic chicken, bok choy and beef ho fun. The portions are large and flavors are on point. The wings were my favorite. Really delicious Chinese/Hong Kong cuisine! Walked in on a Sunday late afternoon for lunch for 2 and didn't have to wait. We ordered 3 dishes and a bowl of rice to share, and it was plenty of food, had to pack leftovers to take back home. We had Simon's garlic chicken, salt and pepper fish, and the fried tofu with chopped shrimp. All 3 dishes were very good, but my favorite was probably the fried tofu dish. It's doused in a delicious sauce, and the tofu is very soft on the inside. I asked for a side of hot sauce to add to the salt and pepper fish which enhanced it quite a bit. Otherwise by itself without some sauce, the outer layer was a bit dry/bland. We also had the Hong Kong milk tea which was delicious. I wish the portion of it was bigger though with more ice. When it came out, most of the ice was already melted from the heat of the water used to brew the tea. Another small complaint was that I had to remind the waiter twice that we ordered a bowl of rice, so there was quite a delay in the delivery of our one bowl of rice. The food itself is not the usual Hong Kong cafe food with the baked items or toasted white bread with macaroni. Instead, it felt like a modern take on Dim Sum, Hong Kong, and American fusion. That being said, the food was delicious and their Hong Kong milk tea tasted authentic and good! My group really enjoyed the salt & pepper fish, it was crispy yet flavorful and the fish was plump and did not feel dry. The Simon's garlic chicken was also really good and they had a great portion of meat (unless some restaurants that tastes too much like batter and barely any meat). One of the owner, Eugene, was great. He came over to greet us and asked how everything was going. We really appreciate the time and effort of him going around checking to make sure all the guest was enjoying their meals. His hospitality made us feel like a friend visiting another friend's home for dinner. It was such a pleasant experience to hear about how they took over their uncle's restaurant and making it their own. Thers's a new kid in Chinatown, but its history on this busy corner of Broadway and Columbus runs deep. 606 is a new and delicious restaurant from a husband and wife and son team whose families had restaurants in Chinatown, including this very location. (Their 10-year old son gleefully filled water glasses and bussed tables. Such a wonderful family atmosphere. They have spiffed it up a bit but the wraparound windows make for good people watching at the corner of North Beach and Chinatown. Go visit them during their soft-opening. Salt and pepper pork was a heaping pile of flavors. It paired well with a sweet and sour sesame chicken. And, the shrimp chow mein was a standout with large, plump shrimp and wonderfully chewy noodles. The only near-miss were the shanghai dumplings which had great meat filling but very little soup. I am sure they will fix that faux pas before their grand opening. In the meantime, you owe yourself and them a visit. You won't regret it. Portion sizes are very generous. I came by to celebrate a birthday and Lunar New Year with a group of 6 for dinner. I called ahead, was told I'd get a call after a 40-minute wait, and my name and number were taken. However, when we arrived well after the expected wait time, we were told my party was never added to the waitlist; no apology was offered. I ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes before leaving, which left a sour note to wrap up Lunar New Years. That said, I've ordered takeout and also attended a private event hosted by a friend. The interior is well renovated, and it's a comfortable sit-down on the north end of Chinatown! The portions are a bit smaller and prices a bit higher; the dishes are generally elegantly presented, with less oil and sauce compared to many of the no-frills Cantonese spots in Chinatown. I'd recommend the salt and pepper fish, which is perfectly light and flaky -- the beef in the beef chow fun is also tender with just the right amount of sauce. The house fried rice was a little over salted, but if you're looking for dessert, the sesame balls are a great option for sharing. Overall I was unimpressed by both service and management. read more

After I finished eating, a young man introduced himself as the manager and asked me about my meal. He said that the restaurant is still in the family and that the next generation is taking over.
