    baklava (one eaten)
    Kevin W.

Came here after an event near Grand Central Market. The reviews were really good online, which piqued my interest. It's a pretty small, low key restaurant, and the only other person there seemed to be an aquaintance of the guy running the restaurant. The owner seemed to be very friendly, and he took our orders and got to work. I ordered a mixed plate, which came with their beef and chicken, rice, pita, soup, tahini, hummus, and a salad. I also grabbed a little box of baklava from the counter, but forgot to take a picture before I already ate one. The baklava was okay, seemed a bit stale and the flavor could've been better. As for the mixed plate, both the meats were a bit dry, but they had good flavor. The sauces added a lot as well, and they complimented the rice very well. The salad was fresh and bright, with a lovely dressing. The hummus was smooth and flavorful, and the soup had a lovely mix of flavors. The owner seemed quite proud of the soup as well, even offering a cup of it to my friend who didn't order the set that came with it. Overall, solid spot. If you're in the area craving halal food, you'll probably have a good time here.

THE FOOOOD IS SOOO GOOOD. Like the quality is fire and you can taste it. Super chill ambiance. Definitely a post concert meal!!! Went here post LA Historic Park to watch Chris Lake. Service is simple and great!

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, my experience was a bit of a letdown! I ordered the lamb kabob wrap and basbousa with honey online. When I arrived at the start of the pick-up window, they had not yet started preparing my order. Additionally, they gave me baklava instead of basbousa. I actually asked twice to confirm that it was the correct item, as I am fairly familiar with the desserts (my spouse is Egyptian-Palestinian, and our cat's name is Basbousa). However, I didn't want to be disrespectful in case I was misguided, so I didn't push a third time. Surely enough, when I got home, my spouse had a good laugh about it. That being said, the baklava was delicious! Unfortunately, I feel like my other order was wrong too.. The meat inside was not kabob meat but more so chunks of meat that were more stringy (see photos for comparison). I'm not sure what to make of it all!

Food was fairly priced, the staff was very on top of making sure we had everything we needed, the ambience was nice very family owned vibes and a prayer video was playing on the tv which was very calming. They make their own hot sauce too! And I was happy with my food very delicious:) I can speak on the chicken/ beef plate and the beef kabob wrap. Thanks again!

This friendly Jordanian restaurant stays open until 10pm. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma combo with fries and a canned soda. The sandwich was full of flavor and it came with a side of garlic sauce to add more flavor. The fries were perfectly crispy just the way I like them.

Came here yesterday and found a piece of sharp plastic in my food. I'm hoping I did not ingest any other pieces.... But this is absolutely scary and not cool

Baklava. I meant to take a picture earlier, but this was all that was left by the time I got my phone out.

Happy National Shawarma Day! To celebrate, I had a shawarma, baklava and pineapple juice. I was told that the Shawarma featured a new recipe for garlic, and the garlic was the uncontested highlight. It paired perfectly with the pickles, and the chicken was floating in that delicious combination. The baklava was also outstanding, well portioned and a good honey rounded it off. Strongly recommend!

Definitely on our list of restaurants to visit again when we're in the area. Ordered: - Hummus Duck 'Nduja - First off, we need to take a moment for the blistered pita. That stuff was soooooo yummy might be my favorite pita I ever consumed. Hummus was also good, nice balance of flavors that complimented each other well. - Grilled Octopus - Had a good amount of chew and wasn't too chewy. Dill flavor was a bit on the strong side but I don't mind it. - Potato Flatbread - Very light and also good. - Slow Roast Lamb Neck Shawarma - Soooo tender fell off the bone so nicely. My favorite dishes were the lamb neck shawarma and the blistered pita. Family style restaurant. We were recommended to order 2 spreads, 3 appetizers, and 1 entree for 3 people. We ended up doing 1 spread, 2 appetizers, and 1 entree and I'm very happy with our decision. We were soooo full after our meal. I think if we did the 2 spread and 3 appetizers as recommend we wouldn't be able to eat the entree at all. Seems like a really popular celebration restaurant (saw many graduations). We did make a reservation and I would recommend doing that. All tables were filled when we were there, not sure how the walk in situation is. Music is a bit loud inside the restaurant but I don't think it was as bad as Bestia. The outside patio was good though in my opinion. I didn't feel like i was yelling across the table to talk on the patio.

The tagine in particular was a pleasant surprise; I almost never order chicken, I can cook it plenty fine at home. The only nit to pick: Bavel please change up the playlist; I enjoy Bad Bunny as much as the next person, but the same 4 songs were on repeat all night long.

We ordered the two-person combo, which was about $95 per person and included all the appetizers they recommended, plus two skewers each, with additional upcharges for certain protein choices like beef. On top of that, we each got drinks that were around $15-20 each, and after parking and a 20% tip, the final bill came out to roughly $350 for two people. I normally don't focus too much on pricing at restaurants, but the final bill on this one had me do a double glance. I get that you're in the LA Arts District and paying for the location and ambiance, but the pricing seems a bit excessive. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd honestly love to come back and bring friends because the restaurant itself is nice and the food was genuinely good. At the same time, I do feel like I can get similar quality food in a similar comfortable environment for a fraction of the price.

Their arayes are a must -- it's basically like a lahmajun with two pieces pressed together, and it's insanely good. I usually go all in and order the tabbouleh, babaganoush, a pound of lula kebab, and shish kebab. Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Not an everyday order, but when you're in the mood for it, it hits. If you dine in, the indoor decor is super nice and really gives that authentic Mediterranean vibe. They also play a lot of 90s music, which somehow fits perfectly and adds to the whole experience. I've dined in plenty of times and the service is always solid -- staff is friendly and attentive. Just a heads up, food can take a little longer sometimes, but that's because they're always busy and everything is made fresh, so it's worth the wait. I've also done takeout here more times than I can count -- probably over 100 orders at this point -- which says everything. This is easily one of my go-to spots and I keep coming back for a reason.

From the moment we arrived, the vibe felt off. The host who seated us (who later turned out to also be a server) left us at the table, and no one approached us for about 10 minutes. When a server finally came over, the first thing she said was "Ready? Ready?", no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We were never brought water. I had to ask a busser for it because the server walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us, and chose to ignore us. The food runner was also rude, he dropped the plates on the table without saying a single word. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked on us. No "How is everything?" No "Do you need anything?" Nothing at all. Meanwhile, we noticed that nearby tables were being greeted, checked on, and treated kindly. When we asked for the check, the server literally threw it on the table without saying a word. The experience was so bad that we decided not to leave a tip; Something we never do, especially since we truly value good service and I personally work in the restaurant industry. I don't know if the treatment had anything to do with how we looked or how we were dressed, but I've never felt so ignored and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. The food may be fine, but the service completely ruins the experience. I would not return or recommend this place.

And the fried chicken was AMAZING. Shwarma that is breaded with an amazing mixture and fried. Genius! The plates also came with hummus topped with whole chickpeas (YUM), dilled rice, a cabbage salad and other greens, grilled pita bread, olives and my personal favorite, pickled radishes. Many reviews describe them as beets (which I also love) but these are radishes and they pair so well with the rich meat. An umami bomb!
