The place has no respect for your time, took time 35 minutes to take my coffee order. And close to an hour until the food came out. Oh I had to tell the front desk twice to send someone to take my order. They took my food order and never took my drinks order. Tables to my left and my right got service within minutes. I don't like to assume but if you look a certain way, you'll get service, if you're darker skin, take your business elsewhere. Going through my unfinished reviews, I'm ashamed to admit that there are quite a few in the queue that have sat there languishing for sometime. 7 Mile Kitchen here, for example, we ate at over three years ago and I've just been sitting on my notes for it ever since. Which is a shame, because we had quite a good experience on our visit. Now, I'm not sure why I decided that I wanted to go to a hotel restaurant at the time. I imagine that I was looking for somewhere with 4+ stars to meet my father and this place stood out among the other Yelp reviews. Sitting down, we had our pick of spots, as there is a large interior dining room, along with where we chose, by the outside bar on the patio overlooking the pool. On a gorgeous afternoon in Southern California, it doesn't really get much more peaceful and enjoyable as that. We started with the Tater Tot Poutine. Perfectly fried to a nice crispiness before being coated in rich curds and salty gravy. Normally you would have to wrap something in bacon and serve it with a side of sausage gravy to make it this tasty. And I don't care how old you are, when tater tots are cooked this well, you can easily enjoy them. Also as an appetizer was some Fried Pizza Dough, which was about what you'd expect. The bread itself was okay, mainly serving as a way to enjoy the Garlic Oil served alongside. I chose the Wild "Shroom" Pizza, a delicious blend of salty prosciutto, earthy mushrooms and cream sauce, and topped with that peppery tinge of arugula. It was a big hit around the table. My wife selected the Steak Frites, which came with Shoestring Fries and an Arugula Salad. She disliked the steak itself, finding the herb sauce it was basted in a bit overwhelming (she's always been a butter and salt only kind of steak eater). But, the fries were still well cooked and arugula is always a plus. Our son had the BBQ Smoked Wings, which he devoured pretty handily. I think he would have preferred them in Buffalo Sauce, but he has yet to meet a wing he didn't like. All in all, a pretty excellent meal enjoyed in a very nice atmosphere. I'm not sure if 7 Mile Kitchen is really a place to add to the list of our standard go-to's, driving out to a hotel for dinner is not usually something you'd think of doing regularly. Still, with the food as good as it was and the atmosphere as pleasant as we found it, it does warrant a return trip and given that chance. read more

We always have a great experience for breakfast when we stay at the Sheraton Carlsbad. The kids meals fill the kids up and prices are so reasonable. Over anything else, service is too notch. We were pleasantly surprised to see Henry again this year and he remembered our famiky! We came here during an off-peak weekend with the kids to celebrate a birthday at the hotel and enjoy a quiet weekend away from home. The resort was pretty empty overall, so we were very surprised at the great level of service we received at the restaurant which wasn't fully staffed due to the low season I assume. Our server, Henry was fantastic. He was kind, accurate, and attentive. We got dinner level service at breakfast! We really enjoyed our meal - the food was great quality with good portions and well prepared. The prices are a bit on the high side as you might expect at resorts, but not crazy. Truly exceptional in every respect. Visited 7 Mile multiple times over six days, ranging from late morning until closing. Often with a larger group, was ever-impressed by the staff, particularly at the bar. Mike, Matt and Dana are notably great bartenders and, really, hosts at this establishment. Dana went above and beyond on numerous occasions to ensure our group had what they needed...including those extras that really make a difference. The food was great, the beverages were great, and the service was perfect. I confess that I particularly enjoyed witnessing the interactions among the broader team...bartenders, hosts, waitstaff, etc....without question, a group that has fun, understands their collective charge as it relates to providing service to hotel guests, and, importantly, supports one another. read more

Our family had a great time celebrating birthdays at 7 Mile. The outdoor seating area was great and allowed our children to explore but all within view of where we were sitting. Food was tasty. We got the artichoke pizza and the 7 Mile burger and both were cooked perfectly. Great desserts finished off our meal nicely. Our server, Raymond, was informative, patient, and pleasant to talk with. Overall we had a wonderful experience. Great ambiance, great service. We started off with the smoked wings. They were good, nothing crazy but the blue cheese dressing was perfect. We had old fashioned and the cocktails were perfectly crafted. The kids had the mac n cheese and it was super yummy! Not a drop left. My husband and I shared the OG burger and Pepperoni pizza and they both were cooked to perfection and incredible! We went down to SoCal for my HS friend's wedding and decided to make it into a weeklong family trip. I needed to find a place for our usual "family gathering" for both my parents & my in-laws - this place had raving reviews on Yelp and was pretty close to our AirBnB so we decided to make a reservation here. We ended up sharing a bunch of dishes: - Fried calamari - Meatball - BLAT sandwich - Pastrami burger - NY steak - Pappardelle (bolognese) - IPA battered fish and chips No complaints about the food and service was great but it was extremely hard to flag down our waiter for some reason...we finally was able to get our dessert order in only to find out that they were sold out of cheesecake. So instead he gave us an extra scoop of ice cream (mango passion fruit) in addition to London fog with the fudge brownie. We never have super high expectations of hotel restaurants and this place was no exception. It's a good place for a big gathering since it's spacious and has a nice ambience, though. read more
