Confused and Disappointed First, I love the decor. Very friendly and welcoming. One thing that drew my eye was the nice selection of draft beers. However, why would they spend so much on the beer and not be open for dinner? Confusing. Second - went there for lunch and had a burger made from a frozen patty and frozen french fries. There appeared to be nothing on the lunch menu that was house made. Not like when this place was Railroad Cafe. And the service was abysmal. We saw our server when she took our order (10 minutes after we were seated), then when our food was served (also the only time my iced tea was refilled). 1 star for the staff, they were good. 1 star for the decor. Food gets 1 star because it was mediocre. It wasn't awful but it wasn't worth the bill. Hubby ordered steak and eggs. He said his steak was the worst he has ever had. I ordered to share chicken and waffles and a cup of fruit. I like a crispy waffle but they had already put syrup so it was soft and the chicken was dry. Best cup of fruit ever presented for any restaurant I have ordered from. The option of fresh OJ was nice. It was good. But a tab of almost $50!!! Not worth it. I might go back and try lunch options, but no time soon. I did like the decor. Great job on that! First visit and I'll be back. Went with a girlfriend for brunch on Friday mid morning. Hardly any wait for a table or food. Staff was friendly, welcoming, attentive, and helpful with suggestions/recommendations. I never felt like we were left waiting or unattended. I'd say great customer service and that's important when eating out. Good variety on the menu. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with some customization. Overall my dish was good. I wasn't too keen on the cheddar cheese added (reminded me of Kraft singles but I can't imagine they'd use that), but next time I'll order without cheese. The country potatoes on the side were delicious and the fresh squeezed OJ is WONDERFUL (fresh and not just labeled fresh). Reviewers are on point. This place cleaned up nicely. I appreciated the new decor and updated appearance. Eclectic but tastefully decorated. Also, VERY clean! 6 of us were here for Mother's Day. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! They sat us quickly on the patio and allowed our puppy to join us. We live in Oregon and were traveling through to see my Mom for the day and couldn't leave our dog in the car because of the heat. The food was great and the peach mimosa...AWESOME! I had such a difficult time finding a good place for us to all meet without the expensive overpriced buffets that are common on Mothers Day, so this was a welcome surprise! We'll be back!! read more

My wife and I had not gone there recently so we decided to get a quick evening sandwich. I ordered a tuna on white bread with fries. One slice was like a rock. I was not even going to complain, just took it off and ate with open faced. The waiter walked by and asked "how is everything?" I picked up a piece of the bread and said feel it. He took it and left. I had almost finished eating by now. He returned with two slices of bread which I replied too late, I am done now. He turned and left. In August of 2016 we moved here from San Leandro. 10 months later we still go back to our old favorite, Elio's, in San Leandro at least once a week. There are not many restaurants that open early in Livermore and serve a great breakfast. Brick Cafe has met our high expectations for breakfast. I had the Chilaquiles, my husband had the Southern Scramble. Both meals were flavorful and not greasy (very important to us). I loved the spicy green salsa on the Chilaquiles. I don't review much but I really wanted to give the new owners a shout out. they have some big shoes to fill being livermore doesn't have too many good breakfast joints. we came on their first open sunday and they were packed! I don't think they realized that a lot of folks have been waiting for them to open. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my wife ordered the eggs benedict. we waited almost and hour for our food. the food was pretty good but I felt the execution could have been better. all the staff and owners working really hard to keep up with the demand. I decided to use the ladies room first but when I came out, my husband is still standing by the door. Ordered the salmon sandwich a with fruit- the watermelon was the worst looking watermelon I've ever seen- the salmon sandwich was delicious. My mom ordered the Thai chicken salad which consisted of mixed green topped with dry grilled chicken breast and two egg rolls- reminded me of something you'd get at a fast food restaurant. Brick Cafe knows how to breakfast! Their omelets and waffles are on point, and you can tell that their ingredients are fresh. Their fruits are sweet and ripe, and this makes a big difference for me when I order waffles or pancakes. Also, you can pretty much have your eggs any way you want and they'll do it for you. Yayayays :). It's such a cute restaurant with the right atmosphere and with a great variety of quality food; highly recommend! The service is good too. Every time I go everyone's super friendly and the manager seems to genuinely care about her customers. I guess the only thing is to expect them to be packed on weekends. We walked right in and were seated just before 10am. We were promptly asked for our drink order and received them in a few minutes. I enjoyed the decor and out server was pleasant and gracious without being overly chummy. The food arrived almost as quickly as we expected but was delivered with an apology. We did have to have my daughters BLAT remade as it had mayo on it though she requested it without. The error was fixed in less than 2 minutes! I just don't understand how the people who arrived at least 10 minutes after us got their food & drinks before us AND we had the same server. They should offer flavored creamer for the coffee. The waffle was obviously prepared earlier in the day, the chicken was some yucky frozen chicken tender, and the syrup tasted watered down....and I'm not opposed to the cheap fake stuff. I ordered eggs, French toast and bacon. The only thing they got right was the two over easy eggs. Asked about the corned beef hash and the waiter said it was 'canned'. Went on to recommend the linguisa hash...only to learn it was from a can too. I will pay for quality food, not frozen and canned stuff I can make at home and doctor it up to taste good. read more

I am so happy that I found this really nice local bar and restaurant. The bartender and the waitresses are so nice and welcoming. It's great going in a place where the staff recognizes you.
