Terrible service. Just terrible. 25 minutes for someone to take a drink order. It's like they instruct the servers to not make eye contact. Then the food took another half hour to arrive, and the restaurant had maybe 25% of the tables occupied. The food was typical diner quality. Bacon was crisp, but fries were soggy. If we didn't have to wait the better part of an hour for it, we probably would have liked it better. There are FAR better choices for breakfast or lunch in town. read more

Disappointed, but not surprised. We had breakfast and were underwhelmed. It took over 20 minutes to get our order, and there were only six other people in there. I had the basic two scrambled eggs, sausage links, and country potatoes. The eggs were decent, but the potatoes were precooked and cold. The sausage was cheap, frozen sausage that was cold when I got it. I also had wheat toast that was barely toasted. My girlfriend ordered the eggs Benedict with the country potatoes. The entire meal was cold. She said it was like they forgot it, and the eggs weren't even fully cooked. My husband and I are not picky eaters. We eat everything and are polite to servers and don't complain too much but this visit was just plain awful. We walked in, we were greeted kindly and were sat in the back area. We thought that it being crowded in there would be a great thing and we were utterly wrong. Our sever took our orders in a reasonable time manner but we ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for our food. He didn't check in on us to let us know why it was taking so long or to make sure we needed anything else. It seemed like people around us as well were waiting a long time too. They were not understaffed that day that I can see but I wasn't too sure if the kitchen staff was or was not. We got our food before some people who were waiting there longer than we were. When we got our food, it was as if the food was sitting out for a long period of time, and then my husbands order was wrong. The sever gave him a menu to double check and my husband proved him wrong and the sever basically said "It's not on the menu but it's how that comes," it sounded like he put the order in wrong but didn't admit to it. It would of been fine, but he made an excuse. There is no way that what you order doesn't come out as stated. Because we waited so long, we didn't bother complain about the basically cold food. We mention to the sever we want the meal taken off since it was not what we ordered and he comes back with -2.99 off the bill when that was not what we agreed to. We have tried just about every breakfast place here in Livermore and after giving this place a try I can honestly say we won't be searching any further for our go to breakfast spot! Went with the family(4 of us!) before a weekly Costco visit. Kids wanted pancakes, wife had an omelet with the option of having grilled vegetables which was cool. I had the 3 cheese scramble, with a fruit bowl on the side. Staff was very friendly, and also extremely busy so I tried not to be a pain in the arsse. I felt bad I had to ask for the items we ordered because I knew they were so busy. Perhaps if I come back to this place, I should choose a time when it's not so busy. and the $72 tab for 2 adults, and 2 children was a little bit more than what I wanted to spend. This was my first visit to the Brick Cafe and was quite pleased. All of the breakfast items looked wonderful but we came in at lunch time. When I saw the "Impossible Burger" on the menu I looked no further. It was absolutely mouth watering. The side salad I ordered with it was better than expected for a small side salad too including hard boiled eggs and cucumbers. Rating 5 for food! Yum! We were a group of 7 so service was a bit slow. It took 10 minutes for anyone to come take our drink order and the drinks came out after some of the food. However, once the food started coming out, it came out quickly and everything was as ordered. Our server was very friendly and made sure to check in once we got everything. Rating 3 for service just because it took so long to get noticed and get our order. I'm definitely going back even if it's to order food to go. There is a full bar and counter so a place to wait and relax after work for ordering something to go. It's a bit noisy inside when full, but quiets down once half the restaurant leaves. read more

This is definitely a step, no, 3 steps up from prior owners. Very clean , open , and fresh! Really enjoyed the atmosphere . I had the waffle combination with over easy eggs and bacon. Fresh Berry Brioche French toast all the way! We also ordered a veggie omelette. The staff was nice. I always feel good eating at a restaurant where servers seem to be happy. Our sever was on it. We've been here twice now. For Breakfast. First time a few weeks ago I had the Caprese Omelette and my wife had the Strawberry and Banana Waffle. We sat at the counter. The service was very efficient, food came out about when you figured it should and the waitress was friendly. The Omelet was really tasty. Not too much cheese, just right. The potatoes were cooked well but to my taste could have been cooked a bit more. The Waffle was average in taste. The strawberries were a little sad. Maybe not as fresh as they could have been. The second time - 11/13 - we went back because it was pretty good and has an interesting breakfast menu. My Wife ordered the Eggs Benedict and I had the Waffle Combo. Eggs over medium and Sausage links. It was almost empty - likely due to the Camp Fire smoke in the air. Sitting at a booth, it took about 15 minutes to get our food. That was too long in any case. I didn't get asked for a refill even as my waiter brought out food to some folks next to us who came in after we ordered. When the waffle came out he brought out the large plate with the two eggs and two really small links about 3 inches long. No waffle. I asked hime where is the waffle? "It's coming"... It did come out - about as long as it takes to cook a waffle - later. Poor planning for a simple meal.. The Benedict sauce was too tart. I don't think there was any paprika or red pepper in it but a lot of lemon... not very tasty. The Waffle was fluffy and good but the meal was far too expensive for the portions especially considering the tiny sausage links.. My suggestion is to order the unique items and pay up, they might be tastier. For a breakfast combo type breakfast, especially with the kiddies, you can't beat Nation's at about half the cost. Have whatever you want fast and easy.. Although there is no real atmosphere there, you do get fresh food, cooked in front of you as you ordered for less. We may go back for dinner to try it. But Posada is THE choice in this center... and Mel's (although about the same prices) or Nation's is a better value. read more

Heard good things about this place, so we thought we'd give it a try. We sat down and our drink order was immediately taken. One in our party ordered water and coffee and only received the water. Had to ask another waitress for the coffee. As we sat there, had to ask for refills. There seems to be a lack of training or coordination from the wait staff. Looked like mass confusion. After several minutes, our order was taken. Waited another 30 or so minutes and had to ask about our order. We asked one of waitresses to check on our order. She says OK and then we never hear from her. Still waiting, asked another waitress and she said it would be right out. That is about the time we packed up and left. Waiting for an order more than 40 minutes reflects poorly on the restaurant staff. Other customers came into the restaurant after us and received their orders. Service was terrible. Needless to say, we will not be returning and will not recommend this restaurant. read more

Chicken waffle is with chicken strips so if you think you'll get a piece a breast meat then don't order it. The green tea matcha pancakes was dry, bland and doughy. The French toast was pretty good. We ordered a kids one for my 7 year old daughter which was more than enough. Their so called fresh squeezed OJ tasted like SunnyD that's watered down. I don't think I would come here again unless it's the only closest breakfast place around. read more

I had not been here in a long time. Came this morning and ordered Garden Benedict with hashbrowns and a bowl of fruit. When served, On top of the bowl of fruit was a piece of pineapple completely brown and with outside thorns on it. The Benedict seemed cold. When I asked for more hollandaise it was brought to me in a small dish and it was stone cold. I had to get up and ask him to heat the hollandaise. The waiter said they only serve it cold because if you heated it the eggs would separate. Never heard of such a crazy thing. I still asked him to heat it. He did in the microwave and half of it was rather scrambled. It was the worst Benedict I've ever had. We asked for crispy hashbrowns and they were not crispy at all. We asked for an English muffin toasted well and it was not. No quality control at all. Best part was the coffee. We will not be back. If you can't make a good breakfast you won't be around much longer. Note; Very few customers. That should have been our hint. read more

This is our second visit to the new Brick Cafe, we were hoping that it would be better than the first, but I can't really say that it was. It's not the worst restaurant in town, but the service leaves much to be desired. Service is not great. Both times, we wait a long time to get out order taken, drinks refilled, check paid, etc. We saw multiple tables around us grumbling about the same issue. I don't recommend the hashbrowns. They cut the potato shreds VERY thick and usually aren't cooked anywhere close to crispy. The country potatoes are much better. The main dishes aren't terrible, but there is quite a bit of variation in portion size. I had an egg scramble and my husband order the huevos rancheros. The huevos rancheros portion was much smaller than the an egg scramble. The people who work there are nice, just still seem unorganized. read more

Went here for an early lunch today (our first time there). We were greeted promptly and with a friendly smile. Not sure what we wanted yet so we weren't rushed. I asked about the coffee while ordering so the waiter brought me a half a cup just to try it out along with my first choice of drink to go along with my Brick Burger and fries. My wife ordered the House Salad (large). The both of us really enjoyed our lunch. Thumbs up to the waiter who answered our questions about breakfast, dinner and beer on Tap also up coming changes to be made on the menu. I really liked that Brick Burger as well as my wife liked her fresh salad. Oh, and the coffee, that was good too. read more

The food was great, but service was very bad. One server walked past us when we entered, and said someone will be right with you. . He was eating as he walked. We were seated almost 10 minutes before we got menus or water. 2 servers were eating at the counter, and the hostess who i believe was still on duty was tasting their food. at least 3 servers asked "is everything ok," but we had to ask for more coffee. We finished the meal and waited, but no one brought the check, so we had to ask. Most servers were young, and none had any idea of how to do their job. Obviously they lack training. My husband and I came back to Brick Café and I'm glad we did! We were quickly seated on a Sunday around 1030 in the morning. Our server, William was great! He was attentive & very friendly. Although the coffee could use a little more flavor, the Bloody Mary's are very good! Now, for the food choices, I chose the California burger with french fries and the burger was awesome! I would order that burger again! The fries are more like shoestring and were crunchy, and very tasty! My husband had, for the second time, the smoked salmon Benedict; it's awesome! This is more of a PSA at the end.. Rave to Landon, the server at Brick Cafe this afternoon, I'm sorry people are mean but you are very friendly!!!! Walk in, sit at the bar. An older couple come up and ask to speak with him. Give him so many compliments and say how amazing he was. 15 minutes later.. a family comes in. Mom in the front with her daughter. Pre teenish son wearing head phones ignoring everything, father is following far behind (probably dreading what's about to happen) I had a hunch from that.. They sit down. Servers greets them. With asking what they want to drink. Mom replies. With attitude "we'll take waters all around." (That's when I knew I was right) Mom gets her food.. could not hear everything but "IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN IT CAME LIKE THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE ORDERED IT" (rolling her eyes all over the place looking crazy) and sending it back. Being hella rude. After a few times back at the table the Server is feeling defeated!!! I tell him to hang in there and giggle. He realized I seen what was happening. At that point, we were about to be leaving but he appreciated I noticed and was on his side as he did nothing wrong and encouraged him to hang in there and he had this.. I am glad you are amazing at your job and able to hold it together. 833 Brick Cafe is a great breakfast option in Livermore! I made reservations for a large group of moms for the first day of school, and after hearing several mixed review this before a reservation and I was really wondering how this place is going to turn out. Well, I have to say I had a great experience, and all of the negative reviews I had heard previously must be from groups who had either caught them on a bad day, or possibly when they were brand new and having growing pains. The decor is kind of homey, and cute. If you are expecting Metropolitan and fancy this definitely isn't it. There are bricks, or faux bricks and license plates all over the wall, a couple of large wooden tables in the middle, some tall tables and booths. The food is pretty darn good. I ordered eggs benedict, and while I have definitely had better hollandaise sauce the hashbrowns were really truly delicious. Their mimosas were excellent too! Service was just all right. The woman who greeted us, and then also took care of our bill was very friendly. Our server wasn't friendly, but she also wasn't rude. Just kind of meh. No big deal, though. I will definitely be returning to 833 Brick Cafe with my own family, and of course groups of friends. I hope this place sticks around! read more

Things must be straightening out here, based on the previous posts where service and food were largely panned. I had a very nice huevos rancheros breakfast, with a *huge* cup of coffee. Service was very attentive, but not overly so. Just right. I really like the choice of roasted veggies as a side at breakfast. Folks, I believe that we have a locally owned and operated eatery in Livermore. I personally applaud that, and encourage your patronage. And, for the record, I paid for my meal, and was provided zero incentive to write this, beyond my own desire to do so. I never understand why some psuedo-foodies try so hard to be so pretentious (see early reviews). read more
