My family and I returned to 85C Bakery yesterday, after eating lunch at Firehouse Subs. We always enjoy the pastries at 85C, since they are always fresh and tasty. On this trip, we picked-up a Strawberry Tart, Mango Tart, Mangotale, Red Bean Bread, Taro Roll, Cheese Dog and a Guava Danish. I devoured the Strawberry Tart in the car, before we left the parking lot. It was that good! The store is always neat and tidy. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The location is modern, convenient, and store is fully stocked with breads/buns/cakes. It represents the 85 Degrees Bakery Cafe brand pretty well. It's normally very packed inside since they have a spacious area to sit and enjoy foods/beverages at the tables. Service is usually straightforward and smooth here. Unfortunately, for today, they will only get 3-stars from me. Young cashier is still in training when it comes to applying app rewards. A senior employee assisted. I came specifically to redeem my app rewards free CR Drink/beverage and asked about which beverage qualifies and they did say I can pick any, but I wasn't able to get my free drink today because the employees weren't able apply the freebie for me. Their system didn't recognize the free offer which got me disappointed. They couldn't apply the free rewards for my Sea Salt Iced Coffee. I also asked about which alternative other beverages I can redeem. No solid answers. I dislike holding up the line here. App seems to be poorly designed to integrate with their onsite systems these days. I decided to purchase the Sea Salt Iced Coffee instead, but I was unhappy about it. I really wanted to redeem my free beverage if they could apply the offer to my order. I ended up buying a pack of multigrain wheat toast, blueberry muffin, coffee cake muffin, two pork sung buns, etc. Felt weird today. The spot isn't bad, but wow, it sets a new impression here. By the way, my receipt showed that I purchased the coffee at 9:49am, but they didn't ring that item up for $4 special summertime promo either, so I ended up paying full price. read more

This location is a joke and the worst 85c location I have visited. Their bakery items are good, but their workers seem to have their expectations misaligned. I ordered a jasmine sea salt, and it's only 10 minutes after I inquired about it they told me they didn't have jasmine tea. Apparently this information wasn't important enough to relay to the customer while ordering, nor was it of importance to tell the customer at any point. The customer next to me was also in the same boat as me about this jasmine green tea, and the workers kept walking away from us. The customer said to me, "I'm trying to get a refund but they keep walking away." The workers spent time conversing with one another and making free drinks for a friend (assumingly because he approached them at the side, telling the employees drinks--which they made instantly--and I didn't see him pay), which delayed the paid customers. Extremely dissatisfied and I'm aghast that this is the type of employee expectation they have. read more

Got my favorite deluxe chocolate mousse sliced cake- as good as I remember , the strawberry cream salted bread- too much cream, bottled milk tea- very sweet but quite good. I ended encountering this one girl who always looks like she hates her job with Squidward attitude when I ask one question about their promotion. I was able to get what I wanted like the matcha pen from buying matcha items and redeeming rewards app deals. All the pastries and buns remain the same decent quality. Their cafe drinks are a tad bit too sweet for me. Prefer to ask them to lower the sweetness next time. It's a smaller and clean location with a few seats and restroom available. When you walk into 85°C, everything looks absolutely delicious! We were on a mission to find a birthday cake but weren't sure which flavor to choose. The cakes are beautiful and it was hard to pick just one--we couldn't resist taking pictures; they're almost too pretty to eat! We tried the Mango Cream Brulee and the Black Forest Cherry--both were wonderfully tasty and sweet without being overly rich. The cake itself was light and fluffy; if you've had Asian-style cakes, these are just like that. Christian, who helped us with our order for next week, told us the cakes are baked fresh right there, which makes them even better. We ultimately decided on two 8" round cakes: Mango Cream Brulee and Deluxe Strawberry Cream. The cream on top is so fluffy it almost looks like marshmallows. My mom and I decided to go to 85C Bakery for us to spend our time there. They have all sorts of bakery items that you can choose from. You can basically grab a tray and select any food you like. Honestly, it's fairly cheap going here compared to most cafe places. They have pastries, cakes, and drinks. The inside is also nice too, but many people don't seem to work here. Probably because they don't offer WiFi here but you can ask. I say this because it looks like a place for you to work or study, but at the same time, they probably don't provide that atmosphere for that. You wanna ask to make sure. I still say that it's still a good place to hangout though. I didn't really eat anything here besides the boba I got because I ate breakfast this morning. I love 85 degrees for their pasties and drinks! Everything was pretty much stocked on a weekday morning, which was so convenient. I had my go-to sea salt matcha latte and the sea salt coffee. 85 has always been one of our favorite bakeries, We were so upset when the closed the location in Milpitas. Fremont is the next closest 85 to us, so when we're in the Pacific Commons plaza, we always stop by even if we're only picking up a few things or just getting a drink. I'm glad that they are always pretty staffed regardless of the day we're here. There's always a person restocking the baked goods, a person making drinks, and a person at the register. I've never had an issue with any of the employees especially since sometimes we do ask about the ingredients of the drinks and some of the baked goods. I'm allergic to coconut so it's become pretty common for me to ask cafes or restaurants if they put coconut in any of their products. I can really only think of 2 downsides: 1) If you go 1-2 hours before closing, there isn't much left to purchase in terms of the baked goods. 2) Drinks take a little while to wait for especially when there's only 1 person making drinks. Other than that, I would always come back to this location since it's super convenient and it's in a great location with other things in the area. read more

I came in over the weekend just to try the sea salt caramel coffee. I've always liked pre-blended coffees so this one was on my list of to tries here. I ordered the cold version. The sea salt caramel coffee provides an interesting and distinctive taste. In addition to the cream in which popularized in Asian drink spots that are often used seen here, the coffee is mixed in with caramelized sugar and creamer. The caramelized sugar provides a distinctive taste versus regular sugar. The drink is a 4 out of 5 for me. In the age where cold brews are seen everywhere, it is nice to have something different every now and then. Most of the pastries inside are self served so don't be expecting people to be greeting you, but if you don't mind it like myself, it's a pretty cool spot to just get what you need and go! :) read more

I feel a bit reluctant coming to this place lately since I have noticed a consistent decline in customer service. I am not sure if it is because there are not enough employees or trainings need to be revisited. Another update! Unfortunately the 85 degrees app rewards isn't as good as it used to be. The monthly deal has gotten worse over the years. This is why we've gone less often. But when we do go, we often go to this 85 degrees and it's ok. Parking is still as bad as it was before as it shares the parking lot of other popular lunch spots. Service has been okay. Some good, some mediocre. Drinks have been hit or miss. They do have seating inside so you could hang out if you'd like. Very disappointing customer service experience One staff member was unnecessarily rude. despite another employee giving her instructions for my order twice, she was packing it incorrectly. When I walked up to politely remind her--while holding my child and other stuff (note - this was after waiting for sometime, while the staff was helping customers who came after me) --she responded dismissively. Instead of handing me the packaged cakes, she placed them on the far other side of the counter without saying a word and walked away. A simple "Here you go, thank you, have a nice day" would have been enough. We always stop in for a few buns, and wind up walking out with a whole bag full instead. Pricing is very reasonable and their bun sizes are often pretty large. But at this location Genesis had a horrible customer service attitude. She asked me if I wanted a box to which I replied Yes and then she bagged up my items. Absolutely delicious!! A great hangout place with friends at pacific commons as well as a great place to study and chill. They have a very well priced bakery section where they offer goods like garlic cheese bread as well as more sweet bakery desserts. However, the lights above the bakery section display case are both neither cooling nor heating, so your goods there are mostly room temperature. They also have larger cakes you can order there. They accept both cash and card, there is a kiosk where you can order drinks but for cash and bakery goods you order at the cashier. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte as well as two baked goods. It took exactly five minutes for my latte to come out which is not bad!! The matcha balances out the strawberry flavor very well and it was a descent price for the size and quality of the drink.
