My family loves the breads, treats, and drinks from 85C Bakery. This is a Taiwanese chain and they have very distinct types of bread that you can't find anywhere else. I personally really like their mashed potato croissants. And now the bad part: after our last visit, even before we had made it home I got a call from my credit card company. Someone at 85C used my credit card information to try to buy jewelry online. I am almost certain that it was the petit young cashier lady that helped us that day since she seemed very nervous and had asked me to swipe my credit card a second time supposedly because the chip reader was not working. Wife and I just got back from our first visit here and I have to say it was a very good experience. She had a Ham and Cheese Croissant type thingee (not really a Croissant, nor was it advertised as such). For a cupla bucks a steal, as was my Hawaiian thingee with Chicken, cheese, tomato sauce, pineapple, over a sweetish bread (cupla bucks). Also tried a bread stuffed with Chocolate chips that was delish warmed up in our Microwave, wife's cheese Danish VERY good, have a $5 Valilla Cake for after dinner tonight. So I go and order milk tea and they also don't have that out either! If you are going to open at 7am you should at least be ready for customers. I just tasted the red velvet cake that my husband went out and surprised me with. To my surprise I was very satisfied with the way the food taste, the texture and the presentation of the product. I've seen many complaints on here that indicate that the place was dirty, my husband said the place was immaculate. I see the people say the people are rude, but he said the people there were extremely friendly and courteous and took the time to show different items and make suggestions as well. My suggestion is, go try it yourself, see what you like and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. This is our go to bakery if we want a little treat. We've tried almost every sweet baked good in the self-service area and have about 10 favorites. Love the taro lattes! The 85 degree coffee is a delight and skillfully balanced between rich, roasted, smooth, creamy and sweet. Not a fan of the salted/sea salt...menu here or anywhere so can't speak to these. I appreciate the app and rewards system because it encourages me to try items I haven't tried before. read more

Great new opening of this bakery chain! I didn't realize they were already open until I saw their huge sign outdoors. It's smaller than the Carrollton location but the pastries and cakes are all just as great. The employees I talked to are all new and young, so they were still learning the ins and outs, but incredibly friendly. Parking lot is shared with nearby Ranch 99 and Daiso in the same plaza so be careful of people randomly walking around when driving/parking. The food is good. The drinks are good too but the sea salt drinks are made inconsistently. Sometimes just right and great, sometimes just too much salt. Also it takes too long to get the drinks out. The front of the store smells like garbage. The trash can inside is overflowing, meanwhile there are employees sitting at customers' tables on their phones. I don't understand why employees can't treat customers with respect at this location. I have stopped here today and got SCREAMED just upon entering the door. It has been a disappointing experience at this location. Our first visit was lackluster from the available selection to the long line at checkout. We figured it was due to the Saturday morning rush. Our second visit was the same dwindling selection and extended long line to checkout. It was a Sunday morning. Our third visit was on a late Monday morning for the sea salt 85 degrees coffee that's $0.85 on Mondays (not sure how long the special will last). There was fewer offerings and the lines were even longer. The supervisor suggested we bag our own pastries if we wanted the line to move faster. He had several staff that did not show up for work. We're excited for this location. We hope they work their kinks out and have more available pastries to purchase. The marbled taro bun is the best in the area with the warm, soft bread filled with slightly sweetened creaminess of the taro. The coffee bread along with the mocha bread have a distinct, flavorful coffee and mocha tastes, respectively. We've liked EVERYTHING we've tried at the bakery to varying degrees and would get them all again. So, here's to them getting the staffing, planning, and managing in order. My mom went buck wild with the tongs while I held the tray for her -- the pastries were all fluffy fresh and not too sweet -- they also stay fresh the day after which is great! This 85 bakery location has less options than the one in Carrollton. They also run out of their most popular items pretty quickly, so I either end up going to 99 cent ranch next door or go to Mozart on K street. That being said, the bread is always fresh and the lines are definitely shorter at this location than in Carrollton! read more

Ok seriously, every time my family makes the long drive here, I end up throwing my diet out the window!!! The baked goods are so tasty!!!! And very affordable! I once came in with $13 and got 6 pastries in a box to take home and a tea as well if I remember correctly!. Took 10 mins for them to make 1 sea salt coffee on a day with slow/average business. Also, they overfilled my coffee and the cup was all sticky. Finally an 85 opened closer to where I am! This location is a lot smaller and cozier than the one in Carrollton. I LOVE how this one has the pork sung pastry unlike the Carrollton one. One of my favorites here! Or anywhere really. I thought it was weird how when you order your drink you have to awkwardly get it in between the right register and the side glass partition thing. A very minor thing here but definitely a change from the Carrollton one other then its size. Although it's smaller it's not as crowded which is better for me in my opinion lol. Typically this is one of my favorite stops for dessert especially the mango pana and the jelly cup because of how fresh and flavorful they are. They're also typically packaged well. Unfortunately today I purchased six and no lids were placed on them. It was a mess when I got home. When I called the store about it they nonchalantly replied, "We ran out of the lids."
