We had dinner over the weekend and the food, steak , scallops and salad, it was fantastic along with the service and cocktails. I had such high hopes or this beautiful restaurant, but I was disappointed with everything except the potential vibe of this beautiful building. The bartenders had no people skills what so ever. the drinks were a jiggered pour. That's just crazy. If you want a good drink this is not the place, and at the price of $22 dollars? can you actually put some liquor in it? My steak was under seasoned and rare not medium. the Branzinos should be deboned table side and the skin taken off! It was absolutely not worth the money! Went out of his way to not serve us and actually talk poorly about us to other costumers. He was a bald older gentlemen, that being said he was the ONLY one who was not polite. I arrive mid-afternoonon on a Friday. I'll start off by saying the service was very good and attentive which you don't always get between lunch and dinner. The decor is lovely but I was surprised how the noise level easily carrys throughout the restaurant. I have to presume it would be very loud if the diningroom and lounge are full. I had the black and blue burger with french fries. The only taste I got out of the burger was the very heavy blue cheese sauce that competely smothered and overwelmed the burger. The bacon on the burger appeared be candied in a jam(?) that made the slices like a piece of hard candy. Also, I would be surprised if the french fries were not frozen as opposed to fresh cut. Overall, I did not have the experience I was hoping to have this day. However, I am willing to give 9Prime another chance. read more

My husband and I went to 9 Prime for our Wedding Anniversary. Alyssa was our server; she was great. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir; we really enjoyed it. Then we ordered a dozen raw oysters which came with three sauces. We asked Alyssa where the oysters came from; she checked with someone who told her Virginia. Next we ordered the 14 oz strip steaks; loved the seasonings and they were cooked correctly. It was excellent. Alyssa told us we could share the sides so we picked the garlic mashed potatoes and the carrots. When the browned carrots arrived ricotta cheese was added on the side and it added to their flavor. For dessert we had the Chocolate Hazelnut Torte; it was delicious and chocolate candy was added which stated Happy Anniversary. Loved the ambiance. read more

Really do enjoy 9 Prime thus far. They do have some adjustments to make but I think that is pretty normal for a new spot. Price is fine dining and somewhat spot on (pretty comparable to Eddie V's ) but there are also some items like the side of mushrooms that is extremely small for $18.00. Another guest tried the squid ink linguini, which was very good but again small portion, very little seafood and not freshly made/brought in pasta like we were told for $34.00. People took notice from the softer opening that certain prices were raised once they put out the real menu as well. Positive notes, the places is gorgeous! The steaks, pork chop, apps and salads that were had were executed perfectly. Cocktails were delicious, try any of their espresso martinis! I have called on multiple occasions and left messages for a call back. I had left a picture and two books. My father had written regarding Bermuda currency that Pflanze had expressed an interest in in her conversation with my other brother. I never heard back from her nor did I receive a thank you note. I had called to make reservations for a party of eight. But again, no return call just a voicemail. Not thrilled about the customerservice or lack there off. Not sure what to do next. read more

I really want this place to be more than it is. This was our 5th time giving it a chance, it's so hit or miss. As always the ambiance and service was great, however the food is sporadically good. Mushroom toast was delicious but warm at best in temperature. Both our entrees were flavorful, but again temperature was warm to cool. The side of carrots, which we've had 2 previous times, were a completely different flavor. We each had one carrot as they were inedible, tasted as if someone dumped Red Hot on them and they were barely cooked and again not hot. The hazelnut torte for dessert, which was comped by manager bc he knew we weren't happy, was delicious. So at this point, we will go for drinks and dessert. Very underwhelming. A friend ordered her steak medium well and it was served almost rare. The server didn't not come to check to check on us for at least 15 minutes. Sides were served without utensils. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. The ambiance is nice. read more

Ok. So the place is beautiful. It is definitely first class with first class prices. We knew that before we left. There were 4 of us and with the sides, 3 glasses of wine, two cocktails, the bill was 660.00 minus the tip. No dessert. We all tried different steaks- and I have to say that there was minimal difference in them except for the price. Two of us had the grass fed Italian cow, one had kansas city strip, another a strip- all 69 and 79$. And honestly, at home on the grill, what I buy at Costco is just as delicious. Having said that you could eat at the bar- and have one thing and your bill would not be that bad- but well its just not West Chester. I would be surprised if it lasts. But then if you want to splurge, I can see folks going once or twice- and then- well- thats enough. We personally would not go again. The service is impeccable- (well, hardly anyone there) and rather "snooty". It was just not a comfortable dining experience. THe brussels were delicious, the lobster mashed potatoes had three very small pieces on top of it, the truffle fries were an interesting shape but I have had tastier ones elsewhere. The highest praise goes to the smoked goat cheese burrata- awesome. I suppose if I ordered little and had one glass of wine, and tip I could get out of there for 50$ a head. But would I have eaten enough? There is in the basement a "speakeasy" bar which is a private club. Its 2500 a single person per year, or 3750 per couple per year. I guess they are working on getting some music, there is a bar obviously- and light bites. You cnat eat dinner down there- they have about 150 members so far she said. I cant see this getting legs- this is just no the town to embrace these prices andI have lived here for many years. Great place in a city where peeps are used to paying thru the top of their heads- but just not a place to relax and enjoy a friendly atmosphere,. Way to over the top. We had reservations on a Saturday night for 4 at 7:30. We ordered salads, apps, and entrees. Two hours later we only received our salads which were mediocre. We left at 9:30 without receiving the rest of our meal. Horrible service. Bar staff was great as well as the drinks. Pretty inside but will not be going back. read more

Sent this email 3 weeks ago about our experience and have heard zero. Hello,  I wanted to take a moment to send an email regarding our dining expierence on 3/8.  I had been watching and waiting until the opening for months and was able to line a date night up for the wife and I without kids to come excited to try a new steakhouse.  We traveled up from Delaware and I dropped my wife off out front while I parked. She advised me that she was seated and "staring at butts". I figured she meant some art on a wall. Once I entered, the host brought me to where my wife was seated in an alcove booth along side the bar. Immediately I realized what she meant and there was a crowd gathered between the alcove and the bar seats. At seat level, we were staring directly at thier butts. Thier conversation overwhelmed ours. Our waiter came over and greeted us promptly. He clearly was having trouble with the same acoustics we were due to the crowd. More on this later. He recommended some appetizers and mains. The smoked burrata and the Piedmontiese Strip steak were among those recommendations and we did choose both. Along with other items we anxiously awaited our meal.  The crowds I front of us came and went, I guess making for interesting people watching at times. Our appetizers arrived and were delicious. Then came time for our mains. My wifes filet looks great however, as soon as my steak was set down I immediately questioned the food runner as it did not look at all like a strip steak but rather a rib eye. She said it was the strip and walked away. Our waiter then got to us about 5 min after the food delivery and I had elected to not cut into the steak asking him once again if it was the strip steak and he said yes, but would go check. He came back 5 more minutes later and said it was in fact the strip steak. Knowing that I have bought, ordered and cooked many of both strip and rib eye steaks I still did not want to cut into this as I was certian this was not the high end strip I ordered. I waited until a manager came with our bottle of wine and again asked him. He immediately said, not, that is a rib eye. It had been about 15-20 since the food arrived and I had told my wife to enjoy hers. Now the manager offered to re-fire the entire meal and sides but we elected to just have mine done correctly while my wife continued to eat hers. Finally my steak arrived and looked like what I envisioned. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. But if a waiter is going to recommend specific items, then they should certainly know what it looks like as well as any one else expiditing the food. We also received brussels and when I told the waiter we ordered the charred broccolini, he said that was his fault because he was having trouble hearing our order due to the crowds gathered around our table.  We then ordered a desert to split and it was good.  Between the apps, wine, meals, desert and cocktails, we would have thought something would have been done to compensate us for errors that we should not have been responsible to catch. I realize this is new for everyone but basic things like cuts of beef should be part of staff education. If I can pick out the cap, eye, and tail on a ribeye as I pointed out to all the staff, the staff should be able to understand the same things. I've attended pictures of the rib eye and then the stop so you clearly can see the difference in my steaks.  While the end result was good tasting food, the combination of the expierence has us wondering about returning.  Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope, if nothing else, this improves the expierence for others.  Sincerely,  David Aber read more

Expect upscale pricing with mediocre food. I ordered the lobster bisque, and it came out with lobster lump and crème (?) in a bowl and was told "get ready for the show." They poured the bisque into the bowl and WALLAH! That was the "show." I've never seen soup poured into a bowl before. It came out in a steel pitcher so you would THINK the runner would have noticed it wasn't hot. It was served lukewarm. It took more than 10 minutes for a replacement which was mediocre at best. Honestly, the bisque at Zoup in Downingtown is better. Our steaks were just as mediocre. I sear an incredible dry aged ribeye at home. The steaks here were nothing special. I had the filet and my husband had the wet aged strip. They brought the wrong sauce out twice and tried to convince us it was what we ordered. It wasn't. We later found out the chef yelled at the runner and made him cry. We left with a $300+ tab and we could've dined at Pietros where the service and the quality of the food is much better for half the price. What's amazing to me, is that was two weeks ago and the Yelp reviews are showing the issues are still happening. 9 Prime needs to close and retrain the staff before they expect to be successful in this town or anywhere. And it's a shame, because the atmosphere was lovely. read more

We went to 9Prime for the first time this past weekend. I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews here, but my experience was very positive. The service from Tony at the bar was excellent and he makes a great espresso martini. The service from Caroline in the dining room was excellent as well. We tried both strip steaks on the menu and they were both very good and cooked to the perfect temperature. My only real complaint is that there was no complimentary bread and the bread we ordered for $10 was definitely not worth it. They did a great job with the renovation and the ambiance is amazing. Definitely still working out the kinks. The place could be a great addition to town. However, right now they clearly show they need some practice when it comes to the service expected from a steak house of this caliber. The food was good, so if they refine the service they would be on to something. We would recommend trying it but, don't be in a hurry or expect 5 star service. read more

Wanted to love it. Left sort of liking it. The most major issues were how slow they were, the temperature of the food and some food quality. It took almost 30 mins for our drinks to arrive. There were 6 of us and just about everything we got was luke warm to cold. We got the bone marrow and it was just liquified. We did send that back The steaks were good, but nothing amazing.. We paid $840 (without tip) for 6 people. Very overpriced for what you actually get. Positives: beautiful inside, attentive server, arancini and Brussels sprouts (though not hot) tasted delicious. Maybe we'll give it another try a while from now. But for that price point, they need to do better. read more

So much hype preceeded this new steakhouse in West Chester, Pa. Was happy to score a reservation; looking forward to it. The food was decent. Will give it average. Servers pushing and suggesting "best thing I have ever tasted". French onion soup.... Yes the menu described the smoked provolone cheese. But not the fennel in the broth. Not much crouton/bread inside; mainly broth. The flavor is a bit out there for "French onion soup". The smoked burrata... I love burrata, but just too many flavors going on in this dish, in my opinion. Beet salad mediocre. Nothing special about it. Hub liked the Caesar salad, but the bread crumbs tasted like ones I get in the groc store. Bland, nothing special. Lobster Mac and cheese ...great cheesy flavor; portioned to "share 2-3 people.... No. Not really enough for 2; and we both had apps and salad. And the Mac and cheese was COLD. Rib eye was good. But it was not hot when the food got to the table. Cooked a little more that I had asked for. Paid for sauce, bernaise. Didn't need it and it was bland. Hub got filet, au poive sauce was watered down/thin/runny. The firmly didn't have much flavor in my opinion. He got the lobster tail surf and turf with the filet. The lobster tail was the best part of the meal. Twice food runners took our food to table Next to us. Why call them servers when they only take orders? Food runners are ok if they know what they're doing and where they are going. Drinks expensive but just ok. The place Is gorgeous! Ambiance fab! But they need to work on the food stuff. Also... we were in back area behind vault. Tables too Close together. Less than a foot separating tables. If you get up to go to bathroom, your legs are uncomfortably close to the food on the table next to you. They should turn the 2 end tables one turn and make them longer on booth ends. It was awkward getting up to go to the ladies room. It is a gorgeous place; will check it out again after a few months to see how they work out the kinks. read more

Beautiful renovation. Very good food but not great. And a few kinks to be worked out with the service. Servers are nice but seem inexperienced. Meals are expensive and the required purchase of bread seems to throw off the timing of the table service. As someone familiar with the 1st National Bank it was good to see how some of the old bank amenities are incorporated. Beautiful property definitely worth a look. read more
