Too bad this owner can't hire decent employees or keep their products stocked! I went thru the drive thru today. The employees wouldn't even respond to the speaker for 7 minutes! And by the time they did, there were cars behind me so I could not get out of line after finding out they had no Root Beer and NO drinks! They are out of C02 so can dispense no drinks!! The employees were extremely rude in refusing to answer the speaker-I said "Hello -Hello" over and over and they couldn't be bothered to respond until 7 minutes had passed! This is ridiculous-so I had to sit in their incredibly slow drive thru line for 20 minutes just to get out of there! I was going to order food as well as 1/2 gallon of diet root beer to go. But how can you trust a restaurant to prepare your food when they don't even care enough to keep C02 stocked? It will be a long time before I return. Note to Katelyn F-I removed your comment. It had no basis in reality. I suspect you are a friend of one of the rude employees. I'm sure you couldn't have heard anything I said, as we all had our engines running. I stopped into this A & W on my way back from Big Bear. Having grown up in Canada, A & W is everywhere. This fine fast food is in our airports and in nearly every town in AB. The burgers North of the border: Teen Burger, Mozzarella Burger, Grandpa Burger, and more! This family of burgers is nearly as popular as In n Out in SoCal! This place has such potential. Our family came into the restaurant today, and ordered what seemed to be a pretty decent meal. I wasn't expecting to pay so much for a meal so such a small size. I have to admit, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the fries were delicious. The cheese curds were ok, I forgot to ask my wife how they were, and the hot dogs seemed overcooked. This place is a jewel to the Eastern region of Inland Empire. First time here, I had a Root Beer float. It was delicious! I can tell this place was a local fave upon entering as there was a line and the foot traffic was non-stop. Shocking enough, it was still busy considering their parking was under remodel. The interior decor reminded me of the 1980's, but I expected it to look this way since main scheme of colors are orange and brown. Customer service was excellent. Bathrooms were clean. When I was younger I remembered that A+W restuarants were everywhere, serving rootbeer floats, burgers and good food fast. But as time has passed, more and more of these places have disappeared. So when I passed by this one, all that nostalgic memories of when I was a little kid started coming back to me, and I just had to stop here to experience what I enjoyed so many years ago. Due to Covid-19, only the drive through was open, and there were several cars in front of us and behind us. Fortunately it moved pretty fast. Ordered a papa burger combo, upgraded the sides to chili cheese fries and a regular size rootbeer float. As well as a bacon double cheeseburger with upgraded cheese curds and a rootbeer float. Drove up to angelus oaks to enjoy the view and the cooler weather up there. Smells were amazing. i was really looking forward to devouring my burger and sides and rootbeer float. Imagine my disappointment though. I know what A+W rootbeer tastes like (lots of sugar), and i know what vanilla ice cream tastes like (even more sugar). But when they were both combined into the float imagine my dismay when it had no taste. It was a thick slurry of bland somewhat cold drink. Not good at all. The burger was huge, hard to get the entire thing in my mouth. Just all this juice coming off of it and making a mess. But again, just like the rootbeer float, had no flavor. Couldnt even taste the bacon, which is odd. Cuz bacon usually makes everything better... The fries were mushy. Had no utensils so was using my fingers to pick them up. And they were easily smushed into nothingness as I tried picking them up. And just covered in grease. Cheese curds were good. Hard crunchy outside, and cheesy gooiness on the inside. But I can see why there aren't so many of these restaurants anymore. Places like in and out pack more flavors. 5 guys fries are something to experience. burger kings, mcdonalds, and carls jr have such better prices. For those 2 upgraded combos, bill came out to $33.65. And I wouldnt mind paying that kind of price, if the burgers were gourmet, or even tasted good. Definitely not worth it. And their star feature, the rootbeer float is disappointing. If I was going to drink all those calories, I would ast least expect it to have some taste to it. But it didnt. It's sad that A+W was such a great place to go get some good food at a cheap price so many years ago. But as with many nostalgic things, the best days of A+W is definitely behind it, and it serves only as a nostalgic memory for so many people who use to come here as a child... read more

I remembered having A&W root beer and a burger every time we we done fishing. I wanted to give my son the same experience. Not so much. Let's go down the list of negative marks. First glance the store was dirty outside and inside. Trash on the outdoor window ledges. The inside was even worse. Trash on the floors. Towels on the floor in the cooking area. The restaurant smelled like a dirty mop bucket. I would seriously have the people who grade restaurants stop by this place. The service was horrible. 20 minutes to get our food. And only my son and I were in the dining area. The entire staff were young kids just dragging their feet. It was the worst experience I ever had. I had to play it off so my son could leave with a positive memory. If the owner is reading this. Maybe you should randomly drop in and see your workers not working. Was excited to see a billboard for this as we haven't seen an A&W in California in years. It is near the University of Redlands, no dine-in, but take out & drive thru. Super nice employees, and it really was one of the better fast food meals we have had in years. Great coney dogs & burgers, and outstanding cheese curds - and of course the best root beer. I expected so much from this restaurant especially when being made to wait 45min-an hour to get your food. The ads on the wall seemed very intriguing, but the food was tiny. Not only that, it looked like jack in the box. The fries were salty, my daughters chicken tenders were more like fried flour tenders rather than chicken. Just sat in the drive thru for 22 MINUTES. Stuck in line with no way out. Ridiculous! No apology at the window and my food was soggy.

I don't normally write reviews to complain, but my god... I ask for a number 2 large with onion rings and a rootbeer, ketchup only on the burger... a number 3 large with fries and a rootbeer, no tomato... a large order of cheese curds... Each item gets acknowledged and then repeated back incorrectly (to which I correct the items with no issue, knowing the drive-thru is packed and they are busy). My dash cam has the footage of me going, "I bet she messed up my order" as I pulled forward to wait. I get to the window and the lady dressed in the same pants my wife wears to bed starts reading me back the wrong order. I say "nope... number 2 and number 3... please make sure it's ketchup only and no tomato like I mentioned... and then there were the large cheese curds" to which she has to go and let the kitchen know... no problem... but she obviously didn't ring it up right to begin with. I get handed one wrong drink (a freeze which I was apparently charged for an upgrade without asking), one correct drink, and another drink I was apparently charged for without asking (another freeze). OK, whatever... I can handle some ice cream even if I didn't want or order it. Please just give me food so I can get on with my day. Then, I get my order and had a feeling I should check my burger... which was the exact opposite of what I ordered. Luckily, the swap was pretty easy and there's a full burger in the trash can in the lobby to account for the mistake. Overall, the fries and onion rings were cold by the time I got to them and the cheese curds were chewy. I drove out of my way and passed a DQ to go here... and won't be doing that ever again. Literally, every portion of my order was incorrect... both meals and the forgotten curds plus the mystery freeze. So many good memories of this place as a kid... but, won't be making the same with my kids after my last two experiences were awful. Every time I'm near Redlands, stopping at this A&W is a must. The fresh made root beer on its own is worth stopping for. I'd also recommend any of their burgers, spicy cheese curds and of course their root beer floats! The folks who work inside are also always friendly and courteous. Give this place a try! There was, per my wife, a free root beer float available for whatever reason and on the internet it said until 8:00 pm today...the 6th. So I went with her and she was told they weren't doing it. So she talked to another guy who said they did it until1500 today. Both stories were bogus. I other words they were not real good a lying. Just came in to the mentone A & W for some local favorites and just found out that under the hometown favorites menu section, the favorites are gone!! The reason I recieved was that the food items were not American enough!! These food items have been a family favorites for years!! Also alot of the condiments are gone as well and my kids were sad to see the toy machines gone!! So sad to see a local favorite food location lose it's identity!! I now have no reason to make the drive from Beaumont anymore!! I can go to the location in cabazon if I wanna eat from the corporate menu!!
