I was surprised to still see one in Southern California still open. I thought most of them closed up domestically. I still see one or two when I travel abroad. Not sure why this place is located where it is but I drove out here when I was nearby for the nostalgia at eating at one. I ordered a burger combo and a hotdog. The hotdog was ok, nothing special. The burger was good and very old school. I like old school burgers with a plain bun, the usual condiments like tomato's and pickles, and a beef patty or two. The decor inside was pretty cool with old school A&W items like lunch boxes for sale. Their is a patio outside to sit and eat. They have a drive thru and a decent sized parking lot. Not a bad place to stop into on your way up the 38 through Mentone, toward the mountains. And, you MUST try the A&W root beer that they have on draft! Yup, draft, not through a fountain machine. Avoid this place at all costs, you would be better off going to the McDonald's down the street. I came here with high hopes and immediately upon entering the building, I was greeted with a filthy disorganized environment, the food we ordered was dry and hard and all around unappetizing. When I ordered we were told we could keep the mug that came with the order and paid extra for it. When we left the building and took the mug we paid for with us, one of the employees started screaming at us through the drive through window as we were getting into our car, that we were "stealing" the mug and ran out to us proclaiming that we were not allowed to take the mug. After explaining to him that we paid for the mug and the cashier who rang us up told us we could keep it upon ordering, he said that wasn't true and violently wrenched the mug out of my wife's hand through the car window, bending her wrist backwards. Food is the way it's always been. Do not go in the drive thru if they are busy, they just forget about the drive thru. It took 46 minutes in the drive thru, and there were only 4 cars in front of me, that's unheard of! It's not an isolated issue. If they are busy then just go inside. Found this location close to my work and was excited to get my root beer fix and lunch. I was looking forward to having the fried cheese curds. The root beer did not disappoint but the cheese curds were mostly greasy clumps of breading. The burger was stale with decomposing wilted lettuce. Better than In-and-Out. Unlike may fast food places today A&W still cooks your food to order, meaning it has not been sitting in a warmer for hours. A&W I remember stopping at this location coming down from the mountains when I was a little kid. With that nostalgia, I started taking my kids when we came to visit as my home was being built close to this location. The food was OK but they had a five dollar deal with a burger and root beer float, so I figured that was an acceptable value. I got it for the float! After moving into our new home I came to this location a couple more times, and the last time they had gotten rid of their five dollar deal. The cheapest meal was almost $10 and that did not include a root beer float, only a soda option. Well, I got the expensive meal and I requested fresh fries and when I pulled out of the drive-through realized that, after a very lengthy wait, I got nasty old fries. I took the food home to my wife and returned to the location to request replacement fries at which time they argued with me! These fools even lied and told me that they watched fresh fries being put into my bag the first trip, which really upset me. Then the supervisor wound up treating me incredibly poorly and basically argued with me about how wrong I was. She lied to me and then made me wait nearly 15 minutes for a single order of replacement fries. I went to the website and filed a negative review for customer feedback and was never contacted. I contacted them again and was also ignored for a second time. I will never return. Stopped by this location on the way back down from Big Bear because I haven't seen one of these in so long. I got the double cheeseburger "papa burger" and it was very good. Very juicy, fresh toppings and a good amount of sauce. We also got some of the cheese curds and they were fantastic! Basically mini bite sized mozzarella sticks. To top it all off I got the A&W root beer float. Overall is was pretty good, but I think the soda might have been a little flat? Inside only 1customer a head of me The staff about 6workers There 2 in kitchen 4 out front ..the ones out front are just talking walking slower then turtles and the boys in kitchen lost.. there seems to be no type of management in this place.. if I seen my night crew working like this I'd definitely talk to them about it or find a new crew . The chili cheese fries were the same as the burger. I wouldn't get them again but then again but that's my personal opinion since I liked the plain fries better. The fries along with the cheese curds were very crispy and very delicious. It almost seemed as if they perfected the fry. Now on to the chicken tenders. Oh my they were so good. They were nice and hot just like everything else. My girlfriend said they were probably the best she's ever had and that they were really juicy. I thought she was over exaggerating until I took a bite. They were really good and juicy it's crazy she was debating getting a burger or the tenders but ended up going with the tenders which I'm glad. We'll most likely return just for those they were that good. The ice cream was average too. Only downside was tue lobby was closed it was past 9, so I expected it to be closed or expected it to close at 10 which kind of sucked since the trip was a bit long. The employees were extremely rude in refusing to answer the speaker-I said "Hello -Hello" over and over and they couldn't be bothered to respond until 7 minutes had passed! I stopped into this A & W on my way back from Big Bear. Having grown up in Canada, A & W is everywhere. This fine fast food is in our airports and in nearly every town in AB. The burgers North of the border: Teen Burger, Mozzarella Burger, Grandpa Burger, and more! This family of burgers is nearly as popular as In n Out in SoCal! This place has such potential. This place is a jewel to the Eastern region of Inland Empire. First time here, I had a Root Beer float. It was delicious! I can tell this place was a local fave upon entering as there was a line and the foot traffic was non-stop. Shocking enough, it was still busy considering their parking was under remodel. The interior decor reminded me of the 1980's, but I expected it to look this way since main scheme of colors are orange and brown. Customer service was excellent. Bathrooms were clean. I remembered having A&W root beer and a burger every time we we done fishing. I wanted to give my son the same experience. Not so much. Let's go down the list of negative marks. First glance the store was dirty outside and inside. Trash on the outdoor window ledges. The inside was even worse. Trash on the floors. Towels on the floor in the cooking area. The restaurant smelled like a dirty mop bucket. I would seriously have the people who grade restaurants stop by this place. The service was horrible. 20 minutes to get our food.
