They make sure the quality of the food and service is top notch! The menus at our table even said "Happy Birthday". Ambiance: very cozy, elegant but fun! Drinks: Up in Smoke (similar to an old fashioned), sandía sipper (sweet and refreshing), vibe check (citrusy and refreshing) Food: scallops are amazing! I'll get right to the point. For a place that features steak, the kitchen had THREE chances to cook a steak and could not do it. The place is beautiful. Cocktails were good. We first ordered the 2 oz A5 Wagyu as an appetizer. It came over cooked but was still good. A cut this high quality is hard to overcook and make bad. I let it go as the chef clearly did not give it the love such a delicate piece of meet needed. $56...was just ok. Not spectacular. This should have been a BIG warning!!! We then ordered the $97 wagyu New York. 16 ounces. Medium rare (like every chef would recommend). Steak came out and I already could tell it was over cooked from the outside. I went straight for the middle with my knife. The server was walking by at that second and she had a look on her face before I said a word. She already knew it was over cooked. No pink in sight! All grey. Our sides came at the same time and now sat to get cold. Second steak came out. Smaller.....Same cut right through the middle. Raw..... does the chef have any pride or even care. THIS IS YOUR SIGNATURE DISH!!! Steak lost it juices. They re-fired the steak to get it closer to medium rare and brought it back out. Texture was off because the steak just went through the battle of its life. Wasn't rested properly before or after cooking. Steak 101. Come on chef... do you hate your customers? WORST PART! No way in hell was that Wagyu!!! Texture was like a 10 dollar steak at sizzler. Complete false advertising/pricing. Wagyu is buttery and cuts easily. I had to saw through both cuts they brought out. Asparagus bland. Mushrooms pretty good. Truffle fries I tasted no truffle. I know the place is new but dang you can't cook a steak! The poor chef in that kitchen has given up and clearly has zero passion for food. I left more sad than anything. Server was amazing!!! I felt so bad for her that the chef decided to sand bag her. Manager took steak off bill thank god. As a write this I still want a perfectly cooked Wagyu. I had one once at Tom Collichios steak house. Was on point! Picture below is for chef. Food was great. Service was great. The atmosphere and design are totally on point. We had many of the dishes but our standouts were actually the starters, appetizers and dessert. The duck pate and steak tartare were great. We also enjoyed the scallops.. Everyone agreed the lemon cheesecake was excellent. Couple of things that could be worked on. Most nice restaurants offer or remind you to validate parking. No mention here and no reminders by staff. I ordered a soda water to enjoy with my 3 tequila shots and they charged me 4.50 and another 4.50 for a refill. Not a deal breaker but after 5 of us spent 800 plus couldn't believe they charge for a refill of soda water. I don't think anybody does that. Also our red wine came after we finished our steak. We ordered the wine ahead of time to enjoy with the steak. Again our fault for not turning the wine away. Overall though everything was great! River Jetty does it again! This place is gorgeous! We came on opening night and to say we were blown away would be an understatement. To get it right on night one- BRAVO! Best meal, cocktails, and experience I've had in a very long time. We ordered several items. The drinks were good, but the food was unremarkable. Nothing stood out. The steak I could easily have made better at home, the Caesar was weird. Most of the food felt greasy and heavy. We took one bite of the Mac and cheese, but it might simply have not been to our taste. They don't validate and made me wait a long time to pay. They also add $4.50 gratuity, so I tipped a bit less, since they don't have to pay out to the staff. Not a problem, because we won't be back. Really nice view though. read more

AMAZING, DELICIOUS & BEAUTIFUL. One of my new favorite restaurants! We came here for lunch and we're immediately amazed by the decor and beauty of the restaurant. The views of the harbor are stunning and they have some beautiful collections of art too! We had some Aperol Spritz's to drink (super refreshing!), followed by oysters (delicious!), cubano sandwich (great!), grilled cheese & tomato basil soup, and short rib ravioli (amazing!). We had a reservation for six people and they put us at a booth that would seat four mature adults or six skinny 20 year olds. so if you are older, request tables, not booths. I didn't see any larger booths in the entire restaurant. They did accommodate us, but it was not ideal. We enjoyed the food. I would give it a month or so to settle in. Not impressed! The restaurant/ambiance was nice, service was above average, but the food was not great. I ordered the Chicken Picatti with a side of Cacio e Pepe. It was tasty, but overly lemony, and the Cacio e Pepe was not Cacio e Pepe. It was more of a lemon pasta. Very little if any pepper. My wife ordered the Dirty Pasta, and it was downright awful. There was no seasoning at all, and whatever sauce they used rendered the pasta nearly inedible. My friend ordered the pot pie, which was impressively presented, and which he liked. And to top it off, they added a 2.5% employee health and benefit fee (which I've learned is a trend now). Isn't that what the tip was for? My recommendation, just raise your prices. read more

We've been to the A in Newport and really liked it, but the A in LBC really raised it to the next level. What a great place! Location can't be beat, environment is an eclectic mix of luxury beach vibes with a great, friendly staff. We were welcomed from the moment we walked up to the host stand to the very last moment at the restaurant. The food, oh the food, it was totally on point. We had the Hamachi Crudo, Fancy Pizza and Arugula Strawberry salad. When I say everything was bomb, I especially mean the pizza, I'm not kidding. We enjoyed everything. To cap us off we had the Chocolate Silk Pie and wow... oh 'em gee. Finally, and back to service, a very special shout out goes to Garrett our server. The guy is a true pro and all around nice guy. He made a great experience, fantastic. Give that man a promotion! Bottom line, A is highly recommended by us for the service, environment and food. I came to the A for my birthday on a Friday night. We didn't have a reservation and the place was packed but luckily we were able to be sat pretty quickly at the bar tables inside. Immediately fell in love with the bar design and view of the harbor. I had the Cacho Pepe and the gin blossom cocktail, both were delicious. Service wise, my server was very sweet, I forgot her name but I mentioned it was my birthday and she surprised me with a birthday dessert and lit candle at the end of my meal. My wife saw a social media post of a chicken pot pie which looked amazing. This caused me to look into "A Restaurant"in LB. I decided it looked like a nice place to take my wife for Valentine's Day dinner. I was concerned about the availability so we celebrated a day early. This place was a 10 out of 10. Service, view, presentation and taste was perfect. Seated immediately on this rainy evening. Our hostess was very helpful and recommended a must have off the happy hour menu. We ordered a couple drinks then went all in. Salad, oysters, spicy yellow fin tuna on a tempura fried eggplant ( unbelievable), fish tacos and carne asada with charred broccoli and potatoes and then an apple tart with ice cream and hot Carmel on the side. Every item was on point my wife's salad was great. Her fish tacos were on a flour tortilla with light tempera batter on the fish. Oysters were perfect with great tasting condiments for added pleasure. My carne asada was perfect. Better than my prior review in Placentia. Everything was great. Justin our server, was great as well. We will be back to check out the chicken pot pie which is only offered on Monday and Tuesday and they will sell out so get there early. I will attach pics of the menu and our plates. It's a little pricey but I think happy hour is the answer to curb the bill. But it is worth every penny! read more

Incredible atmosphere. The most upscale that Long Beach has pulled off yet. It's such a swanky vibe. From the brass-everything bar to the red plush booths; everything is so well done. The service/servers are all top notch. My drinks were perfect. The food however is not quite there yet. I ordered the bone-in ribeye. It is not the level of quality of meat they should be buying. This is not meant to be an insult because I really like this place, but it just reminded me of an average steak you'd get at Outback, but nearly 3x the cost. To be fair to the food, I must say the scallops were perfect. A very unique take on the dish. All that to say, they're just getting started so have to give them time. I absolutely intend to return and will happily go back and "up" this rating if my experience with the food improves. Atmosphere 9.5/10, service 10/10, food 6.5/10. We went on the 10th day of their opening and they were on it! Very good service and the servers knew the menu and offered up great suggestions. Ambiance is different and fun! We sat inside, I think sitting on the patio next time will be fantastic. Cocktails were on point and we had two appetizers and a main to share and that was the perfect amount of food. Pricing is reasonable but you can get fancy with their caviar but we opted for the crudo, octopus and duck bolognese. All so good and will definitely be back! read more
