The ambience is delightful. We had a reservation for six people and they put us at a booth that would seat four mature adults or six skinny 20 year olds. so if you are older, request tables, not booths. I didn't see any larger booths in the entire restaurant. They did accommodate us, but it was not ideal. We enjoyed the food. I would give it a month or so to settle in. I definitely will check out the bar for nibbles and drinks. read more

Not impressed! The restaurant/ambiance was nice, service was above average, but the food was not great. I ordered the Chicken Picatti with a side of Cacio e Pepe. It was tasty, but overly lemony, and the Cacio e Pepe was not Cacio e Pepe. It was more of a lemon pasta. Very little if any pepper. My wife ordered the Dirty Pasta, and it was downright awful. There was no seasoning at all, and whatever sauce they used rendered the pasta nearly inedible. My friend ordered the pot pie, which was impressively presented, and which he liked. And to top it off, they added a 2.5% employee health and benefit fee (which I've learned is a trend now). Isn't that what the tip was for? My recommendation, just raise your prices. read more

Incredible atmosphere. The most upscale that Long Beach has pulled off yet. It's such a swanky vibe. From the brass-everything bar to the red plush booths; everything is so well done. The service/servers are all top notch. My drinks were perfect. The food however is not quite there yet. I ordered the bone-in ribeye. It is not the level of quality of meat they should be buying. This is not meant to be an insult because I really like this place, but it just reminded me of an average steak you'd get at Outback, but nearly 3x the cost. To be fair to the food, I must say the scallops were perfect. A very unique take on the dish. All that to say, they're just getting started so have to give them time. I absolutely intend to return and will happily go back and "up" this rating if my experience with the food improves. Atmosphere 9.5/10, service 10/10, food 6.5/10. We went on the 10th day of their opening and they were on it! Very good service and the servers knew the menu and offered up great suggestions. Ambiance is different and fun! We sat inside, I think sitting on the patio next time will be fantastic. Cocktails were on point and we had two appetizers and a main to share and that was the perfect amount of food. Pricing is reasonable but you can get fancy with their caviar but we opted for the crudo, octopus and duck bolognese. All so good and will definitely be back! read more

My wife saw a social media post of a chicken pot pie which looked amazing. This caused me to look into "A Restaurant"in LB. I decided it looked like a nice place to take my wife for Valentine's Day dinner. I was concerned about the availability so we celebrated a day early. This place was a 10 out of 10. Service, view, presentation and taste was perfect. Seated immediately on this rainy evening. Our hostess was very helpful and recommended a must have off the happy hour menu. We ordered a couple drinks then went all in. Salad, oysters, spicy yellow fin tuna on a tempura fried eggplant ( unbelievable), fish tacos and carne asada with charred broccoli and potatoes and then an apple tart with ice cream and hot Carmel on the side. Every item was on point my wife's salad was great. Her fish tacos were on a flour tortilla with light tempera batter on the fish. Oysters were perfect with great tasting condiments for added pleasure. My carne asada was perfect. Better than my prior review in Placentia. Everything was great. Justin our server, was great as well. We will be back to check out the chicken pot pie which is only offered on Monday and Tuesday and they will sell out so get there early. I will attach pics of the menu and our plates. It's a little pricey but I think happy hour is the answer to curb the bill. But it is worth every penny! read more

I recently went to APH for brunch I had called before we got there just to verify the wait time and which version of the menu they'll have at that time and the staff was so polite and so nice when answering my questions. We were sat next to the window, which was a really beautiful view of the docks at LB we started off with some Aperol spritzers and a whipped feta dip with pita bread which was amazing. I ended up ordering the half a rack of lamb with potatoes puree and my sister got the Caesar salad with lobster. My sister really enjoyed her salad. She kept talking about how fresh the lobster was. For me I really enjoyed the lamb chops and the sauce that came with it. What I didn't enjoy as much was the saffron spaetzle that came with the lamb chops. It had no flavor like zero zilch I couldn't even taste salt. It was just pasta in an unknown sauce, in the end I didn't eat it, but I enjoyed the potato purée. Besides the spaetzle, I wasn't expecting for the chairs to have wheels on them and to be so low compared to the table so that was a bit different but it didn't impede me from enjoying my meal or the view. Other than that, our waitress was so kind and warm and I will be back. It was nice. read more

Had a really great time with my family here, we shared a few of the appetizers (the spicy tuna bites were our favorite!) and shared a few of the entrees family style. Our server Hannah recommended the chicken picatta with the cacio pasta instead of the mashed potatoes and it was great! The most inattentive service I've seen in a while. The lucky thing is I am not sensitive to gluten, but just prefer not to eat flour, as if I actually were sensitive to Gluten, it could have ended up bad. I made it very clear to the new, inexperienced, and incompetent waitress that I don't want any flour or at least whole wheat. I asked specifically for a non-wheat bun for my expensive (small filet and crab) benedict, and I got a regular bun. I asked if the Sopes had flour. First she came and said they didn't and two minutes later she admitted she lied, and said she will ask again (and they did). I asked instead for the Hamachi Crudo, a flourless dish usually, and one where the menu doesn't mention it's breaded and fried, but she didn't think for a second and sent it over. And talk about the benedict, the one thing we didn't return (I just didn't eat the bread) - one of the eggs was runny, but the other was overcooked, the Filet was 3 oz at best, and the crab negligable. On paper they have a unique menu, but in reality, this place is as bad as it gets. ---- Update - I upped this from 1 to 3 stars, because the restaurant did everything they could to truly apologize about this. I probably won't come back, but still - kudos. Not every restaurant out there owns to their mistakes, and these guys definitely did. read more

Came here for lunch just to try something different in the area. We were given seats pretty fast since there wasn't a huge lunch rush. Our waitress was very nice and attentive right off the bat. She asked us what we wanted to drink and if we had decided on appetizers. We placed our drink (water & hot water) order in and proceeded to decide on an appetizer. The spicy yellowfin tuna popped out to us but we also wanted to get an honest opinion on the duck pate before we ordered anything. The waitress persuaded us to get the tuna and that's what we got. She also suggested the burger and the lobster salad for our entrees and that's what we got. Every item she selected was on point and packed with flavor. The avocado aioli that comes with the salad was amazing, the tuna was light but not too light and refreshing. My burger was your standard American cheese burger with blue cheese & cheddar I think that the quality of the ingredients is what set it apart. I came here for my anniversary as my boyfriend and I had seen many videos giving this place a good name. Starting with the host, he was so sweet and just had a great attitude! He sat us in very romantic spot and presented us with anniversary menus which I had never seen before. Our server was Jenna - she gave us the best service I had ever had! And I used to be in the industry myself for about 7 years so my expectations can be pretty high. She had the most positive attitude, the warmest demeanor, and just made us feel so special! Met my wife for drinks and stayed for dinner at A. This spot never disappoints with good drinks, very good apps, great entrees and excellent service. Truly, the best service in LB might be at A PCH. Very attentive but not overly pushy or hovering. Always there when you need them but never in the way - spot on! My one suggestion is to improve the beer selection with some of Long Beach's finest microbrews, of which there are many, and when I mentioned to our server she grabbed me a pen and paper and asked me to write them down so she could bring them to the bar manager. I have no doubt she will. Plus a top 5 location over looking the boats at Naples harbor. Great ambiance worth a visit and you'll want to go back. A gets an A! read more
