They are all wonderful nice ladies that work there. So welcoming and helpful when you arrive. Would recommend an appointment but they also take walk-ins if they are not busy. $15 for a haircut, shampoo, and a short massage - BEST DEAL IN TOWN! While waiting for them to get a haircut, I got a 15 minute massage for only $10! I was expecting to just sit in a barber chair and get a massage sitting up, but they had a massage chair and I sat on that and got a great deep tissue massage. Went here to try a new haircut place and would say over great service! I was recommended to be cut by Lani as she does fades and lines up the front. She did an amazing job, for someone as myself who has a Widows peak, curly hair, and not so straight hairline in the front, I would say getting a haircut for myself can be difficult. So anyone cutting my hair is given a challenge to prove their skills!! For Lani cutting my hair for the first time she did overall a great job. She was careful how she cut and made sure I was satisfied before I left. There was a concern after I left the sides were not so even where she cut, and my shape up was not as straight as I wanted by my forehead at the front. I've been a customer of A's Barber Shop since 1999. A's sister, Dee, has been my barber at A's for all of those 18 years. Before that, I never had a regular barber. There is something comforting about having your hair cut by the same person for almost 20 years. Dee knows exactly how to cut my hair. It beats having to explain what you want each time. The shop is about a 10 minute drive from my office. They have parking but for some reason, I always park on King Street. The staff is friendly and they seem to like working together. If you're after a simple military cut and clean fade, then A's Barber Shop is probably fine, but if you're like me and need some actually attention and styling, then be warned... stay away. I booked "A" on a recommendation, but got the bait and switch when I arrived, and ended up with "D". That was the second sign that this wasn't going to go well. The first was... well, it's a $15 haircut. Also the guy ahead of me was getting sheered like a sheep. I had a mind to run for it but decorum got the better of me and I stayed to honor my appointment. After about a 15 second pre-cut "interview" where my stylist looked at me like I was speaking Martian when I tried to explain "not too short", the process began... Maybe 10 minutes later I got a look at myself in the mirror... I suddenly had a flash back to being a 12-year old kid again, mortified that my grandpa's barber sheared my lovely locks down to the roots. All my previous styling was gone. Any regard to what might look good on me specifically was ignored. It was a "cut by numbers" hatchet job that undoubtably operates on volume. If I were going to Iraq tomorrow I'd be ready, but instead, I'll be wearing a hat for a month while I wait for it to be long enough for my usual stylist back home to fix it. read more

My grandfather was a barber by trade. He always would make me sweep the hair to "pay" for my haircuts. God bless him, he's in heaven and smiling at me because I found this place. My old coworker first told me about A's many moons ago. "Ask for 'A' she's hot" he said. Wasn't quite sure that he was coming here for a haircut or something else. Lo and behold, this place is legit. It's a perfect mix of my grandfather's barbershop and the Thai Kardashians. Because of the ambiguousness of pretty Thai women cutting hair in the Koreamoku area, this place has a certain vibe that attracts 40-something Korean bar habitues. I think they would pay 20 dollars if they were offered a beer. These are the same kinds of guys who say they go to Hooters for the wings. Protip: Call ahead for an appointment or you will wait a long time outside like the dog you are. I have a low maintenance haircut. No. 2 clippers even length all away around my balding skull. I love A's Baber shop. Its a place where you can come and get a no frills haircut. I always call in advance to make an appointment with the person who always cuts my hair, & her name is Tammy. She is so wonderful and nice. You know when she is in demand when during your haircut, the phone rings and 4 of the 5 times its for her. She loves talking to you while getting your haircut and she remembers the details to of since last time you came. I love that about her. I normally get the fade and keep it longer on the top. sometimes shorter if its during the summer, and longer during the little bit colder parts of the year. She always gets it right every time I go. For $15, you get a haircut, rinse and massage. I sometimes don't opt for the massage because I always on the move. You can not go wrong. They have a little parking lot in the back that I think holds three cars. Tons of street parking during the week end. Free street parking after 6pm Monday - Saturday. The staff is very nice and always nothing but polite. They just moved location a couple of stores down but please don't hesitate to get your hair cut here. You won't regret the finished product! I always get nervous when I get my haircut from a new barber because it looks bad when I get a bad haircut. Dee listened to me attentively when I communicated how I wanted my haircut. I came across this quaint establishment through a friend that shares the common interest of saving a few bucks. The shop is nestled nicely between Mediterraneo and Choon Chun on the right-hand side of South King Street across from Tsunami's. The parking situation requires a bit of skillful driving, due to the fact that the parking lot entrance is a narrow five foot in width driveway that is hidden directly to the left of the shop. Once you have avoided a fender bender from slowing down on the always hectic road of South King Street, then you must navigate to the small pool-size parking lot which only accommodates four cars. Two of the stalls are reserved for A's clientele. If you ride your bike, there is a convenient and sturdy bike rack immediately in front of the shop's doors. Once you have situated your mode of transportation, you enter a humble barber shop, where you will be greeted with a sweet hello, sincere smile and irresistible invitation to wait a few minutes for the next available stylists. At first the atmosphere of the shop is a bit intimidating and foreign. The stylists continue to chatter in their Thai dialectic and seem to be gossiping cheerfully. It makes you wonder if they are talking about you, but I can't be that vain. Besides the foreign conversations that are consistently interrupted by the ringing of the phone, you will notice the floor covered with hair. This a sign of a highly efficient and heavy traffic barber shop, but I find this somewhat gross (reason I dropped it down one star). Although I see the girls take a few minutes to sweep, the hair is endless much like the amount of customers coming and going throughout the day. It seems that these women never get a break, but somehow they keep their smiles and friendly attitudes. I'm not a big expert on hair cuts, but I have only been disappointed with one hair cut I received here. Two things keep me returning to A's Barber Shop, and parking is definitely not one of them. The first thing is the hair cuts are only $15, second the shoulder massage after a hair cut is heavenly. Nothing beats a long day of work followed with a combination of a clean cut and relaxed shoulders. For future prospective clients of A's Barber Shop, please be warned that the shop is constantly busy and may sometimes require an appointment, but they seem to do their best accommodate. Can't beat $15 for a quality haircut and happy ending (and by "happy ending," I'm talking about the massage at the end... so get your mind out of the gutter). Although... hmmmmmmmm... that's not a bad idea... nevermind. #movingon I've been coming here off and on for a few years. I've had the fine ladies here hook me up with a skin fade, shadow fade, line up, and I've also had them cut my hair while I grew it out... pretty much runs the gamut. I've never left this place disappointed. I will say that I have had better skin fades from various barbershops who specialize in that particular cut (although not by much; you will get a quality and tight fade from this joint). But in totality, I haven't had a better haircutting experience anywhere on the island... which is why I've continued to come back and, as a whole, this is my go-to spot and I'll continue to come back for all my cutting needs. The ladies are all friendly and welcoming. You'll just have to bear with the fact that their English may not be entirely discernible all the time. But that's totally cool, because they're sweet ladies, and on top of that they also look like they know how to have a good time. They do quality work; and it's at a very reasonable price. Bad experience. Made me feel very uncomfortable speaking in tjeir language and they only spoke to the older men there, probably married men too. They were saying that Playboy came in the mail and they give it to.the old man customer that was there. They did my cut so fast, they missed hairs behind my ears. On top of that I gave them $40.0p by accident and they didn't even say anything when tje cut is only $16.00...i only had $40.00 and I live 5 minutes away. When i got home i had nothing. I have a problem with cutting my hair. I'm really frightful to see how my hair would turn up so I would often wait until my hair was really long. I also am kind of an introvert so most salons/barbershops intimidate me. I chose to man up today after waiting 8 months for my next haircut and chose this barber shop. Walked in and I got seated by Apple (or "A" for short). She and her coworkers are really funny. REALLY. I laughed a lot. It made me happy and feel more comfortable. She was really helpful with my haircut. She cut it WAY better than I thought I would have wanted to be. She really knows her stuff. =) After rinsing off my hair, she even gave me an AWESOME neck massage! I was really tense today so that helped unnerve me! I think that's why I was singing enthusiastically later on in the westbound traffic jam. LOL 5/5 would recommend. I am definitely coming back again when I need another haircut! =) read more

I am very impressed by how well the ladies at this barber shop can cut hair! I work downtown so I used to get my hair cut at Mojo's, but ever since they raised the price of their haircuts to $35, I decided I need to find a shop that does good cuts for a fair price. I found A's on Yelp and decided to make an appointment, and I was not disappointed at all. These ladies are very talented and can even do great fades and gentleman's cuts! They are all very friendly and even give you a quick rinse and neck and shoulder massage after cutting your hair. I have gotten haircuts from Lani and Auntie V multiple times now, and both of them are great and always give me an awesome cut! I'm used to SuperCuts or GreatClips but am not forever spoiled. Walked in and they say me right away. I explained how I wanted the cut and she started. The things that distinguished this cut from others are...1) the attention to detail. She trimmed and nipped and tucked at the cut for a good 20 minutes. I'm used to being rushed out of the seat. After the cut she offered a complimentary rinse so I didn't have to rush home and wash. Nice service. Lastly she did a short shoulder and neck massage which felt nice. Also complimentary. All for $15 bucks! They knew I was not local so she really didn't have to go the extra mile but did anyway. Very pleasant group of ladies. I've been looking for a good barber shop in the area and tried A's Barber Shop today; I won't have to keep looking. My haircut was great, I didn't feel like I was rushed through, the staff were all very friendly and there was no wait. I had Pat cut my hair and give me a little massage at the end all for $15 dollars! Be sure to give them a nice tip, they are most certainly worth a little extra for how nice the service was. Great find! Found on Yelp. True Barbershop. Brought my son. They took there time and the cut just like he asked. Cut, shave, and short massage...$20. If it's your first time, drive up slow. Parking is behind the building. Just passed the shop is a tiny driveway. If you miss it, you'll have to go around the block for a second try. Not a problem. Located in front of the old tsunami and close to kyungs seafood. The only parking I know of is street parking. Doesn't matter because theirs a lot of street parking available. Very friendly staff. $13 for a men's style haircut...can't beat that. The ladies at A's Barber Shop are really friendly and you never feel like they're rushing through the cut to get you out of there. You can call ahead to make an appointment, but I usually just drop by and they're able to accommodate. Note, there are 2 locations on King Street, but they are only a few stores down from each other and if one can't take you, they'll call the other to see if anyone is available. As others stated, they will give you a quick shoulder rub after your haircut and rinse. Albeit quick, it's a nice little touch that not all places offer and depending on who you get, can be enough to loosen the tension from sitting at a computer all day. Finished work early and needing a haircut badly, decided to pop in to A's. The parking was somewhat of an issue. I had to make couple of drive-bys before finding a free meter. It was around 2 PM and there was only one other guy getting a haircut so I was seated fairly quickly. The lady that cut my hair was the oldest of the 4 working. I basically told her how I wanted my haircut and she went to work. The haircut was done very well. She was extremely detailed and meticulous. After the cut, she shampooed my hair then styled it for me. Then followed a 3-5 minute neck/shoulder massage. The cut was $15 so I left her a $20. Besides the parking issue, only other complaint was that the place gets pretty hectic. The phones rang constantly and the ladies working there kept yapping non-stop in Thai. Used to go to super cuts and pay $24 for a cut any cut but mine is a buzz and yep still $24 just a cut no rinse shampoo nothing and not including tip.
