Came out and gave me an estimate...explained the roof was in such good shape for its age and explained the work that needed to be done. Some loose tiles, cracked tiles and some missing ones. A roof leak was discovered by another tradesman working on my house (second floor ceiling was soft when he was replacing the ceiling fan), thus a tile roof leak. However, the ceiling paint hadn't discolored. I called a few roofing companies for quotes, all told me the hip was leaking, needed to be repaired with underlayment, weather blocking etc. It appears the leaking hip did not have weather blocking on it due to it not being required by code when my original roof was installed. To fix the one hip with the leak the other roofing company was $945. I asked for a price to install weather blocker on all the remaining roof hips to prolong the life of the roof and he wasn't interested in quoting the job. I had my base price of $945. A Step Above, Jeremie Eubank came by quoted the leak, and was on the same page as me with regard to protecting the longevity of my roof. His hard working crew, which is mostly family repaired the leak (remove the tiles, battens, underlayment; install new underlayment, battens; reinstall field tile and replace broken tiles and install weather blocking on all roof hips, ridge joints sealed and painted, sealed pipe flashings) for the sum of $1700. A total of 9 roof hips are now protected with weather blocking, one of the roof hips had a leak that is now repaired and guaranteed not to leak for 2 years, Great people, great service, hope I don't need them again but if I do they are my only call. read more

Had a different roofing company come out to give me a quote, the guy went up on the roof, took pictures and sent me a quote for $700 to fix everything. Jeremy, from A Step Above, came out and went up to inspect the roof. While he was up there he fixed most of the damage and didn't charge me for it. Selected A Step Above to repair three places where my roof was leaking. They responded promptly to my call and let me know that the owner's son Jay would be out to take a look at things. They gave me an idea of when he would arrive and he called the day of the quote to verify that he would be out later. He also called to say when he was on his way and he was right on time. He was very professional and used booties in the house and wore a mask. He went up on the roof and showed me pictures of the areas that needed help. He explained the specifics of what would need to be done and seemed very capable and informed. He also mentioned that the workers would follow OSHA safety procedures which I appreciated. Jay's dad, the owner, called me later to go over a quote for the work and emailed details. The price was very reasonable. Jay scheduled the work around my schedule which was very appreciated. The workers showed up on time and worked steadily. Everything looked super after they were done and they did a really nice job of cleaning up! I would definitely recommend this company. We were very happy with Allen M. from A Step Above Roofing. The roof at our lake house was coming off in sections in high winds. We decided to replace our roof with a steel roof instead of a standard composition roof because of the lifetime warranty. Jeremie responded quickly to my inquiry, was out to evaluate my roof the next day and had my repair scheduled soon after. He was good about communicating with me every step of the way, explaining everything that he did and even sent me before, during and after pictures of his work. I felt like he was very reasonably priced. And he seemed honest. There was one part of the fix, sealing the ridge caps and pipe flashings, that he basically told me didn't HAVE to be done, they weren't in terrible condition, but could probably stand to be done while he was at it. I felt like other roofing contractors may have tried to upsale me on that, like "Oh you have to get this done right now" (I did end up having him do that, but I appreciated that he was honest about it and gave me the choice.)
