I tried their large burrito totally packed with everything literally . When I got home I opened the package to see this massive behemoth. It was so big it was splitting down the middle . It had pretty good flavor . Tons of meat . I think a little too much ham would have preferred more bacon and egg. The restaurant it self is dirty and old some of the chairs are missing backs the tables were dirty the floors look like 100 years old . Just a run down building . Should be cleaner and updated . Cashier intentionally gave us the wrong order at the drive thru! even after she opened the plates to double check after I told her what I had ordered, she went to the back, walked around a little bit, tied up the same bag that she had checked and gave it to us. I waited for a good 15 minutes by the window just waiting for this damn lady. I would've driven back but I was too tired by the time I got home. Food ended up going to waste! I promised myself I'd do another review of Aibertos, after my last disasterous run-in with the drive-thru. I knew, KNEW, that this is one of the better joints in Salem, and I had no intention of passing up a great place because of one bad experience. Before I got a chance to do this, though, I got a letter from the owner of the place, telling me that he was disappointed that I had said bad experience, and told me what changes he was putting into place to prevent this from happening. Specifically, condiments that are runny and goopy will go into their own containers, apparently. I was surprised and gratified that a business owner would look at small negatives and address them, especially considering that this is an outstanding place of business, with consistently excellent reviews, and I'm just one dude who had one bad exchange. Anyways, I went back and got what I know is awesome, which was the carne asada burrito with cheese. Delicious. Very much so. The carne asada remains extremely tasty, with a great blend of spices, and no fat or gristle marring the amazingly texture of the meat. The tortillas are some of the best in Salem, and there was a generous amount of cheese stuffed inside the whole thing. Since the cheese is an extra item I add, I could see them choosing to skimp, but they didn't. This is definitely one of the best places you can go to in Salem. And the fact that the owners take so much pride in their business, refusing to give in to complacency, makes it that much better. I am proud to be a patron here and will continue to be one for years to come. read more

I heard they had Carne Asada Fries and had to come try it out. Drove all the way out from Beaverton. Awesome, to know their open till 5am! I asked for the C.A Fries w/out Guacamole but they mistakenly put some on it. So, I had to ask for them to re-make it. The lady at the register was super nice about it because it was their mistake but the guy that made the food. He didn't look so happy! But he did re-make it. The lady said if they took back my fries they'd throw it away so she asked if I'd like to keep it. Since, I don't eat Guacamole. I gave it to the guy who was behind me waiting on his order. I don't like food wasted!! After received my correctly done C.A Fries. Mmmm It was soooo good! i'll definitely be coming back here again for another order. Last time coming here. Saw their coupon for 2 plates for 10.99 with two sodas. We ordered two plate combos ( mine was carna asada) and two regular size drinks with a large size order of green sauce. We got our drinks and she gave us a regular soda and a large soda and no large green sauce. We used the coupon and asked them again for the green sauce which she then added into the bill but we still had to pay for the large soda we didn't ask for . Then they almost forget the green sauce two more times before we got it. I just came home excited for my carna asada plate and guess what is carnitas .... And it looks gross I don't eat carnitas. I would take it back but they would probably spit in my food. Go to Tony's Taco shop. I went to Aibertos last night for the same thing i get every time, the "Heffe" burrito with extra cheese. Ive been getting that same burrito since it was 11$. I got one not even 2 weeks ago, it cost me 26$. i got one last night, it was smaller than usual and the clerk charged me 29.99 for my burrito. it will be THE LAST BURRITO I EVER GET FROM THEM. I think I just found my new favorite cheap Mexican food hangout. Hubby, daughter and I decided to give Aibertos a try after listening to my friend Ed rant and rave about how delicious they are. I was pleasantly surprised at the fact that their tacos are not pre-formed shells and that the rice and beans are all home made. And for $9.99 you can get 2 combinations + 2 drinks! What a deal!! Their salsas are also pretty darn good. I kept seeing people order this "Chimichanga" type of burrito and it looked so dang good!! That is what I will be ordering on my next visit. The service was VERY fast and friendly. The girl at the counter was very kind and polite, even though she had about 10 folks in line! NOTHING like that "other place" I visited on Monday. You have to love that they turned this burned out, grimy little dyspeptic dung heap of an ancient Taco Bell building, KIA at least 30 years ago, into a place you can feel GREAT about going to when yer jonesin' for Big Ass Burrito Lovin' (US patent pending, all rights reserved). I'm not aware of there being any eateries (or food carts, for that matter) left in the greater Portland Metro area, where you can get burritos of even half the behemoth hefty boys served up 'ere at Aibertos, in the $4 range-- and it's not at all unusual to find smaller, and lesser in every quantifiable respect-- burritos costing twice or even three times that-- cost of living undeniably being a factor.... all the same: advantage Aiberto's , all the way. It bears pointing out that Aibertos also does not go el - cheapo on you by sneaking mostly beans and rice filler into their wraps, the way pretty near EVERYBODY else does (with apologies to the ones that have been doin' it right for many a moon-- like Super Burrito Express!). This place feels like family to me. Their food is always great especially considering how affordable it is. Whenever me and my spouse are hungry and don't know what to get we can always rely on the Aibertos team :) They're almost always open which is honestly a life saver for those nights where you just need your taco fix. Don't come here for the ambience, come here for the amazing food, friendly service and low prices. This used to be a hidden gem, albeit not so hidden necessarily due to its location on Market and Lancaster, but the word is out how good the food is here. The dining room isn't always the cleanest and it could definitely use an update, but that doesn't stop me from coming here anytime I'm in the area. This place has the best Mexican food. They are open 24 hours. So if you need a late night snack this is the go to. I've tried their carne asade fries, Oregon burrito, tacos, and more and every single item was delicious. Their verde sauce is a must on every thing and they also have horchata which is really good. This place has plummeted - a few months ago, I would have recommended it to anyone for a filing, cheap meal. There was always a line, but it was always worth it. Now: I ordered an Oregon burrito, no salsa, cut in half, with green sauce on the side. I recieved an Oregon burrito, not cut, with raw potato, over cooked grisly beef, unmelted cheese, and sour cream. The whole burrito was lukewarm, and the tortilla tasted stale. I don't know if they changed their cook, and the new one has never prepared food before, or if their old cook went blind, but it's awful. read more

Extremely disappointed. We have been coming to Alberto's for years. ESPECIALLY because we ARE from San Diego and we really do like to support this restaurant for that reason because it's the same here in Salem, as it is in SD. We ordered and after almost 20 minutes waiting at the window, the cashier takes our card AFTER waiting that long. Then nothing for another 15 minutes. When she does finally come back after accepting our payment, it turned out that she got our order wrong (she didn't get our complete order) which was 2 bean & cheese burritos, 1 fish burrito & 12 rolled tacos. She took the order for 1 B&C, 1 fish burrito & then 5 rolled tacos. After she gave us the food, we get and it wasn't even luke warm. It was cold. Our food that we waited 40 minutes for was cold & incorrect. It really is a shame. We will not be returning for awhile now due to this experience. With how much money this place makes, I would like to make a few suggestions: Aibertos can absolutely afford to get a new drive thru sign with a screen that shows the order. Please do that update. Not only does it help your customers make sure they order everything, it covers the restaurant because there is no reason for errors and wasted time. Also, the restaurant would also look more appealing and CLEAN if it was painted to look like a classic mexican villa (white with brown trim & the wall painted white as well) vs McDonald's colors. Just food for thought because as we sat there waiting, the more disgusted we were because of the filth of the building itself and that alone is really off putting. Please make these changes. I've been eating here since the late 90's. The last time I ate there I ordered my fav Chile's Rellenos. The Chile's were not cooked, very firm, or raw. My friend was traveling through Salem and asked for directions to Aibertos. She told me the cheese enchiladas cheese wasn't event melted the the Chile in the Chile rellenos was raw. These guys will put nasty greasy french fried potatoes in your burrito after you tell them repeatedly not to. Once in awhile they listen and they substitute the beans for the potatoes like I asked. But throughout the years I have taken home their mistakes so many times that I absolutely will not go back ever again. One time I ordered a side of beans and when I got home the taste was so horrid I had to throw it all away. Only in Oregon will they stuff your burrito full of nasty greasy potatoes. I have never seen that done any place else, not even Mexico. Oregon has such lousy Mexican food that I had to learn how to make my favorite dishes myself.
