During the heatwave last week, our downstairs AC unit started leaking water and I asked ABS to trouble shoot, Dennis and Bob came over the next day and found out that coils need to be replaced. We hired them for the repair and they did a great job! Bob is the owner and the installer/repairman, he knows his stuff and he takes good care of his customers. It took Bob and Richard working really hard (3 hours straight) to put in the new coils yesterday, and our AC is working beautifully now. We recently had our entire home remodeled, which also included new heating and air. We looked at multiple companies and got competitive bids before finalizing our decision with ABS. Ben (the sales rep) took his time walking through the project and even made suggestions to the general contractor about how we could save money by doing something different than what the general contractor had planned! When I bought my home 10 years ago, it didn't have AC. With the most recent heat wave, I decided to bite the bullet and have it installed. I'm so glad I did and that I chose ABS to do the work! These guys are amazing! The owner Bob is as polite, articulate, and knowledgable an engineer as I have met. They took almost an hour to meticulously go thru the equipment in a classic engineering elimination method and were able to narrow the problem down to a clogged pipe which they then cleared. Listening to Bob instructing and discussing the approach with his apprentice was eye-opening and encouraging. On a second furnace which also needed to be looked at, they found the fixed the problem quickly. Also, they took the time to install a sheet metal filter retainer in the intake vent for this furnace. On the way out they checked the first furnace again, and seeing that it was still not functional, they spent another half-hour (for a total of 2 hours!) and fixed it. I believe it will stay fixed. I don't intend to use any other HVAC techs ever again! read more

They came and did a diagnose on my heater and stated the board was the failed component. They charged me $170. I then told them to order the board. Two weeks went by and I still had not heard from them. I called them again and they gave me an appointment date for the installation . A day later they called me and stated that the board they ordered got used for another client and that they would have to reorder it again. As of now my heater has been out of commission for a month. I told them to cancel my request because the amount of time it was taking was ridiculous. I ordered the correct board myself and had it delivered in only 2 days. If this place didn't want to do the repair they should have just told me instead of making up stories and excuses. Terrible service and rude receptionists. read more

I hired ABS Heating and Air Conditioning to replace my 23-year-old heater and install an electronic air cleaner. They arrived on time and promptly installed my new heater. I had gotten a bid from Bob a few months earlier and he suggested, that since my heater was still working, why replace it now. He recommended waiting to replace the heater when the cost of repairing it didn't make sense. I appropriated that logic and his honest and demeanor. In my mind, that's when Bob became my HVAC man! Bob had recommended that I replace my broken 80% efficient gas heater with a new 80% dual stage heater, as they are tried and an true technology, unlike the 95% efficient models that can malfunction much more often and cost more to repair. The dual stage heater is cheaper to operate and will save money on electricity. The 80% one are also cheaper to buy and that's nice! His crew was professional and left our home clean! They also installed a new communicating thermostat I supplied. The whole team is nice to work with, very cordial. Bob was very honest with me and did not try to sell me on a high priced heater, even when it was inquiring about them. He steered me in the right direction and his bid was reasonably priced. Even though you may only need a heating or cooling service infrequently, it is great to find one that is competent, reliable and easy to do business with. In 2006, ABS installed my furnace and air conditioner, they also replaced all the duct and vent works under my house. More than 7 years later, I phoned the owner, Bob Hall , to come for a service on the furnace and mentioned to him that the air flow in the duct work was not equal on all the rooms. A few days later, he had guys crawling under my house to adjust the air flow- this service was done at no charge. Great service- definitely recommended. read more

I am very impressed with this business. Initially one of the employees came to me to fix my furnace and made a wring diagnosis, I waited for part for 4 days and when the part arrived he came to install it with the owner of this business Bob. Right of the bat Bob new that it was jot the correct diagnosis, figured it out and got me the part I needed at his cost right the way, also discounted the visit because of mistake. Now, summer came and we turned on air conditioning and there was no old air. I thought that since it I was the same unit that the part was replaced on my be they did something to stop my air conditioning from working. Bob came the next day on time and figured out that the fuse blew up he was also teaching someone the ropes. He fixed it within 10 min and did not charge me for anything even this was not something that they did wrong first time. A friend recommended ABC to me and I was so impressed with not only their professionalism, but their AMAZING customer service. There was a bit of a miscommunication during the initial installation but they owned it and came back to fix it at no charge. During that time, they found we had a yellow jacket nest in the attic and a severe leakage from our soft water tank under the house, both of which we had no idea of and could have caused more damage if not addressed. I also had them come out to inspect the air flow in my condo and they didn't charge me for the service call because, as the tech said "I didn't do anything to fix it so I'm not going to charge you." I hope this posting doesn't cause a problem with the tech, but I wanted to call it out as most companies would charge you. This left me with a huge respect for ABC and how they believe in customer service. I can't imagine using any other company for my HVAC needs and would recommend them to anyone!!! read more

ABS Heating and Air came to rescue on short notice, same day on a friday afternoon, while other area companies could not come until next wednesday( 5 days later!).Bob and Dennis rapidly diagnosed I would need to replace a motor unit of furnace( that is no longer being produced).Over the weekend I was able to locate such motor unit on line and ordered it by next day shipping. Once I got it, Diana and Trish helped to get Dennis to come back and installed it same day.Amazing service and professionalism. I have the highest trust and regard to ABS. read more

Our air conditioner went out recently and Bob the owner of ABS came out to take a look. He was very professional and on time. He explained the diagnostics and he determined that I had a bad capacitor. He installed it and also topped off my Freon as it was low. He is very detailed and meticulous with his work. I had some rattling noises coming from the fan and he tightened every screw to get it to stop rattling. My AC has not worked better! I definitely would recommend ABS. read more

On a neighbor's recommendation (thank you Linda!) I called out ABS Heating and Air Conditioning (408-238-7178) to fix my main house A/C unit which failed on Tuesday evening (July 2) (105 degrees that day!). I called several other companies as well, but ABS was able to come first. They came out today, the 4th of July. No extra fee for that. My capacitor had gone out on the unit. Repair cost was $85 for the service call plus the part. Up and running again! The Service Tech was Michael Bartlett who was professional, informative, and very efficient in the repair. Graduation party with 40 guests...and no AC!!! Yikes. Called ABS because of the excellent Yelp reviews and like everyone they were slammed due to the heat wave. But unlike all the other guys, they actually called me back and scheduled the visit. The guests are gone but the problem wasn't...or so we thought. Bob Hall to the rescue. He had us up and running in no time. Turns out it was the classic case of "I took my car into the shop and when they started it up...nothing was wrong." Our old HVAC unit was starting to require service so it was time to change. We talked with several companies, but ABS ended up with the job. The first thing that impressed me was Bob's collaborative attitude. He listened and incorporated my input into a solution. He's the owner, salesman, and chief installer. He does have some knowledgeable guys on his crew as well. They worked hard and got the job done well. One thing that made me laugh was that one of the other bidders wanted to park a crane on my front lawn to bring in a new HVAC unit and remove the old one. Bob's crew just disassembled the old unit on site and put a couple of pipes through the undercarriage of the new unit and walked it into my back yard. Simple, direct and no B.S. Bob's bid was not the lowest, but it was less than half of the highest bid, which included a lot of bells and whistles I didn't need. The only criticism I have is that phone messages were not always promptly returned. I think it's because this company runs lean and is understaffed in that area. But if you want a good job from a company that doesn't try to snow you with an army of suited sales people, ABS is a good choice. read more

ABS recently replaced an air conditioning/heating unit downstairs of my condo on Agnew road, not mine. Yet, I feel compelled to write this review. I had a long running problem with downstair's air conditioning unit. I live on the top unit of a condo complex. The downstairs air conditioning unit has its compressor installed on top of my roof, and the heat/cooling exchange unit is mounted right underneath my floor. Both the compressor and the exchanger were near my master bedroom. When the unit was running, which is most of the year (the tenant runs the unit no matter it's 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s outside - it's kept on a constant temperature). The vibration shook the wooden frame of my bedroom so much that it generates a low frequency but loud humming noise between 54-64 decibels, making my bedroom sound like an industrial machine room. I was unable to sleep in my bedroom, even in my living room sofa. It was pure torture. I bought some coil isolators to put underneath the compressor on the roof, the problem alleviated somewhat but I still had to ask the tenants to turn off the air conditioning at night in order to fall asleep. They usually turn it off round 11:30pm, but past 12:00am, or sometimes past 1:30am during the weekends. I had to wear a $300 Bose Noise Cancelling headphone constantly in order to fall asleep. When ABS came to replace the old air conditioning unit, including the exchanger, I asked if they can do something to isolate the exchanger from the floor of my bedroom. They said they would try, if there is enough space between my floor and the drop ceiling of the downstairs unit. They also said they would put the waffle rubbers if there is room. Well, whatever they did worked! It has been a week and I hear just minor humming from my bedroom when downstairs turns on the new air conditioning unit. Apparently the ABS crew has taken my plead into consideration and addressed the problem. Whatever they did was Godsend! I no longer need to wear the noise cancelling headphone on my bed. Thank you so, so very much! You vastly improved the quality of my life and I can't thank you enough! The ABS crew has gone beyond the call of duty to help, and you deserve a huge praise! read more

Needed to get my heater checked and repaired. Called the office in December 2017 and was told they wont be able to come out for 2 weeks or so due to the holidays. Since my heater had a short in the system I decided due to the reviews here to wait it out. The owner showed up in January of this year and seemed fine and know what he was doing telling me the elecrical brain of the unit needs to be replaced. He said the unit would be around $500. and that i could find lower cost units online but they would be unreliable. I said ok go ahead order the unit and set a time for repair. On the day of repair he came out again and told me the unit was no longer being made and in his many years of work, never had a company turn their back on him for not helping find a replacement unit. I told him wel, then check the online units you told me about and get one of those. He recommended replacing the whole heater system as there were no more parts for this system. I told him ok let me know about the part or give me a quote about a whole new heating system. I am still waiting. Also I had him clean out a wall heater in a apartment I owned and the charge was very high. Called another heating company, they found the unit replaced it for $345 installed and ready to go. read more

ABS Heating was recommended by a friend and I am so glad I called! Our heating went out (in winter, of course!) and I was surprised when they said they'd come out right away the very next morning between 9 and 11. Sure enough, Bob arrived during that time and assessed the situation. I needed a new blower and they could get one in just a few hours coming from Oakland. They then installed it later that day and but that wasn't the only issue my heater was having. Anyways, it was fixed the next day and they were so apologetic that it took longer than they anticipated. I was just happy they got it up and running again in less than 28 hours and at a very affordable cost! Bob and his crew were courteous, professional, timely, and super nice. They really seemed to care and obviously knew what they were doing. I can't begin to describe how happy I am with this company!
