Great place. Had a lot of fun here even as an adult. Just a bunch of rooms with interactive mini games in them, and you can climb thru different levels of the same room so nothing really gets stale. The first few levels can feel a little silly cause they're ridiculously simple, but the higher levels get fun fast. Avoid the busiest times to avoid crowds. Each mini game is like 2 minutes tops, but if there's no one waiting, you can keep playing the next level. All the tech worked pretty seamlessly and nothing was broken. It's pretty much like a real life video game simulation, love the many features that comes with visiting. (Reservation in advance recommended) Pricing: 60 Minutes: $30 per player 90 Minutes: $40 per player (Perfect for first timers in my opinion to try out all the games) Staff here is very informative and friendly. They walked us through locker rooms for storage and how our electronic wristbands work. Very informative and easy to use and definitely a "futuristic" style towards Activate. LOVE IT! My wife took me here for my birthday and it was the absolute BEST. We had such a blast interacting/playing with each room. The options are just endless when it comes to what to play and how to play. It's mainly co-op games along with 2+ player games. You can choose "versus" games as well where you compete against each other. As a couple, there's plenty of teamwork games that my wife and I tried. I'd say that we work very well together due to how our games went. Most games we played were very successful and very fun. Our team bonding definitely increased after playing games together. Since we're both very competitive, we played some versus games as well to compete against each other. They were extremely fun and very fulfilling. I recommend wearing comfortable clothes as some games, if not most games require some kind of movement. My husband and I went on a day date and spent an hour here. We had a BLAST. It's a great place for dates, small groups, and to bring older kids. The staff was friendly and explained how everything worked thoroughly. Once we paid up, someone showed us how to navigate the game rooms. They even have free lockers to store your things. There were about a dozen game rooms (some closed for maintenance). Most of them have collaborate or opponent options and each game had 2-7 different versions. You pick the version you want to play (there is a quick summary/explanation for each one) and then enter the game rooms games last 1-2 minutes. While inside, you can keep leveling up until you want to exit or another group is waiting to play. You have a wristband which records your points and you can see your standing on a scoreboard. You can also redeem coins for merch. The games were all so fun. Our favorites were the grid and hide and seek. Because each room has 2-7 games and 10 levels for each, you could play forever. We are already planning on our next visit. Please be advised, you get so sweaty! Bring water. Extremely fun activity that is great for dates, family outings, and friendly hangouts. There are many challenge rooms, with each room having different themes. These games are designed for groups of 2 to 5 players. My husband and I visited, just the 2 of us, and we had a blast. We booked the 90 minute experience, which felt like the perfect amount of time to try out all of the games that we were interested in. Each person has to set up a profile with a player name. This can be done either at the facility or beforehand. Once you check in, everyone gets a tracking wristband that is used to scan into the challenge rooms and keep track of your score. The staff were very friendly and informative. We received a quick tour of the place before playing the games. There is a locker room to store your stuff, and a different wristband is used to access your assigned locker. Wearing comfortable sneakers and clothing is a must. A good chunk of the games will require moving around and being physically active. There is the perfect balance of dynamic games focusing on mental vs physical abilities. Most of the games are teambuilding games where we have to work together to complete the game levels. There are also some games where we can compete against each other. Some of my favorite rooms are Mega Grid, Portals, Strike, and Hoops. I highly recommend checking out this high-tech active gaming facility if you haven't yet. Activate is an immersive and interactive gaming experience located The District in Tustin. There are multiple locations across the country and the world. There's ample free parking on-site at the mall. There are 13 rooms that offer different game options. Even within each room there are different kinds of games so there is lots of variety. There are free lockers to put your stuff in while you play, but you can also carry things like phones around. Some games require running around a lot so you should wear closed toe shoes. Games range from laser, floor tile, basketball, and more. When it is very busy you can put your name on the queue until the current group finishes. Some of the games were very short when it got really busy, basically like 30 seconds so not really a game at all before we had to exit the room. The rooms also don't have an easy way to tell if it's occupied so you have to peak into a dark room to see if there are shadows of people inside. I would've preferred a light that signifies that it's occupied so it's easier to tell. The games also start immediately after you enter the room and the game instructions aren't always clear. It's similar to recently-opened Hijinx Hotel in Irvine in that each of the rooms has a different objective and you work with your team to achieve it. I think I prefer Hijinx Hotel more because their games are funner and the experience is better, but this is still a fun and family-friendly event. read more

This place was actually really fun! The downside is there's a limit of 5 people per room, which didn't really work well with our party of 6. We ended up having to split up into groups of 3/3. We also learned the hard way that a 4/2 split didn't work since the games wouldn't activate with just a 2 person group. I recommend wearing gym clothes cause you will be activate - they also have lockers for free to store your items. Time starts when you start your first game - so plan accordingly! Favorite rooms: Laser room and mega grid. Most games only last 1-2 minutes so there's not much of a wait time if there is another group inside. But time moves quickly!!! I am completely obsessed with Activate! I was seeing videos online and was fearful it was just online hype or good marketing tactics, however it was even better than expected! I highly suggest you book ahead, as they sell out often. Once arrived, we checked in, got assigned a locker for our valuables, got our activate wristbands that are needed to create a profile, earn points and play games. Nick showed us around and gave us the rules. There are multiple activity rooms and each one is equally as cool and unique! Every room has multiple versions of a game, including team games and competition. It felt like the possibilities were endless. We booked 1 hour, and while it did feel like enough time, I wanted more and cannot wait to come back! They have prizes you can win and even a league with worldwide tournaments. I also loved the photo area (just wish it wasn't near the bathroom). 2 things that would be a nice bonus is a little cooler AC and hand sanitizer after the rooms. I did not expect myself to have this much fun. There are SO many rooms to choose from, all of which require different skills -- mobility, intelligence, accuracy, speed, and agility. My favorite rooms were the mega grid and mega laser. I believe my group tried all but one and those were the ones we continuously went back to. We went as a group of four but you can have up to five which is definitely more efficient for select games. They have lockers where you can keep all your belongings and they give you a wristband to keep track of your stats and scan to play games. The vibe is very similar, but because it's officially summertime, it was particularly crowded with kids and young adults. I was concerned that my 8 year old daughter may not enjoy some of the activities and while I was surprised she was scared of the Mission Impossible (dodging lasers) room, she really enjoyed all the other games. We are glad that we did the one hour session because the 90 minute might've been a little bit too long for us. Lots of different rooms with different activities spanning over from shooting baskets, throwing balls, touching screens, some of them also including different activities with sensors on the ground. Overall, it is actually really fun and interactive, and it was a fun time. It was also cool that there were prizes at the very end that we could redeem if you wanted to. When we first checked in the team members were super nice and went through the whole process. They gave us a wristband for the lockers on the side room. And once we were all done, we then registered our white bracelets that were for the games and also that was what had our tags and usernames attached to them. Can't wait to come back. Hope prices don't skyrocket as the months go on. My group of 7 split into a group of 4 and a group of 3 and just rotated depending on our energy levels. There were tons of children running around so it was chaotic but expected as it's a weekend. Also some rooms smelled like maple syrup.. Who is eating pancakes at 4 pm?! The downside is you get through 1 level before you have to step out for the next group, but your game is saved on your wristband so you can resume later without having to restart at level 1. I've already visited twice with friends to celebrate their birthday. The first time we came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was filled with large groups of kids - the wait times for each game room was long and the place was noisy. The second time we came on a Saturday night and the experience was much better. You are able to activate the next level of a game from within the room if no one is waiting outside. It's such a fun concept - and no, it's not another Escape Room. It does take figuring out puzzles and patterns but each game room is about 60s of an experience. Activate is located inside Tustin District and so there's a good amount of parking. It's their opening weekend and so they had a $5 per person deal for an hour game. We had a group of 8 people, but each room is 2-5 people so we split up and swapped around. Upon arrival, you receive a wristband that you register to the email you signed with the waiver. They give you a wristband that connects to the room you want to plan the game in. They also give a wristband for the group for a locker where you can keep your stuff. There's a ton of different rooms with a good amount of different games. They're co-op games as well as competitive. My groups favorite was the mega grid and mega laser. Each room screen tells you the objective of the game but I found it a bit confusing. If there's another group inside, you have to wait until they're done. Most of the games were around 1-2 minute long so it went by really quick. We were able to go around to the different rooms a get a ton of different games in! I did find that it did get crowded and a bit confusing. It's opening weekend but some of the screens and games weren't working. The workers also seemed a bit frazzled with the crowd and we had to wait at the end to even turn in the wristbands. After two to three games, my friends and I were super hot and sweaty and it didn't seem they had AC blowing hard so it heat up really fast. They also didn't allow us to bring water inside and their only water fountains. Weren't working so we were dehydrated from all the running! It was overall a really cool experience!! But I was glad that it didn't matter the age, that this place is for everyone. We had a great time playing their assortment of games. I only wish we had more time to be honest. Since it was opening weekend, things were a bit confusing--lots of kids, some noticeable body odor, no AC, and the water fountains weren't working. That said, the concept is super fun! We really enjoyed the Mega Grid, Grid, and Laser games--those are definitely where your money is worth it. Some of the other games were just okay; in a few rooms, screens weren't working or the game pieces weren't very responsive. It would be really cool if they had an adult night, because there were a lot of kids when we went. Compared to RGB Run, Activate has a lot more variety with the Laser and Mega Grid games, with different levels and game modes within the rooms. I just wish the facilities--like the AC and water fountains--were better. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars. It's really fun, but some games feel more geared toward kids and aren't worth the time. Super happy to have an Activate so close to me now, and I truly hope they're here to stay! I don't have to fly out of state (or out of the country!) to go to one anymore. Activate at the Tustin District is an excellent venue for friends and families of all ages, at about $30/person per one hour session. I enjoy the experience every time I play, whether 60 minutes or 90 minutes, and I always look forward to going here with friends. Activate provides bursts of exercise and mental engagement since each game is between one to several minutes long, depending on how well you do and if you can continue when no one is waiting for your game. Others describe Activate as an immersive and interactive video game, or real-life "The Floor is Lava" haha. The timer for your group starts as soon as you scan into your first game and press "START" on that screen, so be mindful of the time when taking breaks and waiting in lines throughout your session. I believe it's five players max per group, so it'll be a cool way to hangout and bond. You'll definitely be running and jumping around, so be prepared to sweat and drink plenty of water and/or electrolytes. I love that the rooms and their respective games include physical challenges, puzzle-solving, and quick thinking and reflexes. Multiple levels (from 1-10), modes (collaborative, vs, and 1-vs-all), and styles (different methods or goals) create lots of opportunities to experience fun and change up the intensity. My favorite rooms are Grid, Mega Grid, Laser, Mega Laser, Hide, and Press. You get individual wristbands for scanning into games and checking your account, and then one separate, different colored one for a group locker to store your belongings. You earn points after winning games, and you can redeem prizes with those points. The staff here are chipper and chill, and I really appreciate that they seem to like what they do here. After eating dinner with friends in this plaza we went to walk around and found Activate. After that, I started getting advertisements on social media and thought "Why not?". So we made a reservation for a Tuesday evening for a group of 4 for 1-hour...just to try it out. This was a lot of fun! The staff are so friendly, and they go over the entire process with you - from registration, to explaining how to review each of the games and what to expect in each room. We had so much fun and the hour flew by! If you're a intend to come more than once, your profile for each visit and you rack up points each time you successfully get through a room level. With enough points you get to claim fun prizes that range from sticker packs to extra play time, all the way up to bigger prizes like wireless headphones and even a Switch 2! Here's a few tips to have a fun (and hopefully injury-free) first experience: - Wear athletic clothing! You will be moving a lot. - Wear proper shoes! I wore my Vans since if lift in them...I would recommend going for something with more impact cushioning. - Don't feel silly bringing a water bottle with you. I saw groups leave their waters outside the room during their gameplay, and trust me we ALL GET IT. - If you're bundled up, use the lockers to store what you need. It warms up fast once you start playing! This location is great! Ample parking in the surrounding lots and great food spots just outside to treat yourself after.
