The first time I ate here, it was for lunch. Tip - this place is very popular for lunch. I had a turkey burger and it was probably one of the best I've ever had. Well seasoned and just super mouth watering. I decided to try dinner tonight and ordered the lean turkey meatloaf with garlic parmesan mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Tip - this place is not as popular for dinner! Unfortunately, this meal wasn't as great as the first. It was good, it just wasn't great. I'm not sure if the lean turkey meatloaf was too lean or if the entire meal needed more seasoning but I had to use salt - twice - I typically never use salt (even once). Ate here for the first time at 7 pm on a Saturday night. I wanted something healthy but didn't feel like going to true food kitchen or local foods. The place was moderately busy, we were seated right away. Ordered the white sangria and it was really refreshing. We started our meal by ordering the tomato mozzarella basil appetizer which was drizzled with balsamic and sprinkled with sea salt- YUM. They didn't skimp on the basil which I appreciated. I ordered the super food bowl with shrimp and loved it. Really enjoyed the miso dressing, wish it came with more than 5 shrimp though. Sunday brunch review. Order at the counter and seat yourself. That system always freaks me out a little because if it's busy, there are no tables! When we came at 12:30pm, we were surprised to see that it was pretty packed since it was raining outside. Luckily we were able to catch some people leaving and swooped in. I ordered the chicken and waffles ($10.95) since it seemed to be a popular item among yelpers. It was decent but not as good as I expected. The chicken was well seasoned though which was nice. I've been trying to stay fit for Christmas next month so it's been hard to abstain from the good unhealthy stuff; however, Adair Kitchen is the best of both worlds! Yummy and healthy options. Adorable space near the Galleria for brunch or a coffee chat with some friends. As with most places in the Galleria area, food is pricey, but Adair Kitchen serves up some hit-or-miss dishes. Shrimp Super Foods Bowl - 5.0/5.0. This was incredible, and full of deliciousness. It felt like a next-level, healthier Chipotle burrito bowl. I loved the combination of whole grain rice + kale in both texture and temperature (the cooled kale against the warm rice). The shrimp was well seasoned, juicy, and not skimped out on in quantity. The ginger-miso dressing was tasty, although I'll probably ask for it on the side next time to control how much is added. Banana multigrain pancakes (blueberries added) - 3.5/5.0. I wanted to like these, I really did. You get a fat stack of pancakes with syrup and whipped cream. I thought the pancakes were made with bananas, but rather, you got about 4 banana slices on top of the pancakes. The actual pancakes were pretty mediocre; not too fluffy or flavorful. Love Adair Kitchen!! I love the openness of the restaurant and how you can see the kitchen from the front door. You go in, walk up and order, and then find your seating. When it's busy, which it was when I was there, it can be kind of a pain waiting on a table but overall it's no big deal. I ordered their Blackened Shrimp and Goat Cheese Salad and a cup of the Lemon Artichoke Soup. The soup was very unique tasting, which is why I ordered it so I was quite pleased with that. I thought the salad was absolutely phenomenal. It was the perfect balance of goat cheese, dressing, vegetables. Just awesome. I've been here several times so when a neighbor suggested breakfast it seemed like a great idea- not. Complete with circus music the avocado toast breakfast was bullet proof you could not cut it. The staff seemed offended by my suggestion that a watered paper towel was not sufficient for cleaning as pieces of the food were still left from the previous guest so at my insistence the staff came back with cleaner that he smartly told me cures cancer-REALLY DUDE. Moral of the story is... I'd dosey doe around this restaurant anytime! It's a little tight getting around the chairs in there but the bright side is, there's enough seating for everyone my dear :) I stopped in over the weekend while house shopping in the area and fell in LOVE. Came during lunch hours when they were busy for brunch. Thought I try their chicken and waffles since I saw a great picture of it. The line started outside the door and it was difficult finding a table. Stood around and finally was able to grab a table. Service and the atmosphere of the place was definitely a great place to hang out and have lunch. This review is going to be solely on the food itself. I was impressed with the presentation of the dish, you have you waffle, with breaded chicken tenders topped with powder sugar, sliced strawberries and drizzled with syrup. First starting with the waffle itself. I was surprised that there was already syrup poured on it compared to a dipping sauce. I felt that the waffle itself lacked plenty of flavor. It served more as a plain bread taste and filler than a nice pairing with the chicken. The combination of the powder sugar and sweetness of the strawberries sort of made it a little better to make up for the plain waffle taste. However I was forcing myself to have a bite while struggling to find additional syrup to give it more flavor. Onto the chicken tender. I'm a huge chicken critique and had my fare share of plenty of chicken, that I can say this chicken did not do me any justice. It was simply a plain tasting lightly battered chicken tender trying to find its way with the sweetness of the strawberries. The battering and seasoning of the chicken needs much more work. Overall experience in food only, 3/5 which I do not recommend trying this dish unless you're ready for a disappointment. It's definitely no where near Breakfast Klub or Jupiter Pizza and Waffles. To put this in short, you're better off making some blueberry frozen Eggo's and buying Popeye's chicken and pairing it with a bite of syrup and that would taste so much more fulfilling. I would still give this place a shot, but you may be better off trying something else. read more

I actually usually really love this place! When I came back from maternity leave I was so eager to get over here and get their food again. I'm a usual fish taco fan! Well, to my disappointment the fish came out really dry. I would not have been able to eat it had I not requested extra fish sauce. Maybe a fluke? A week later went for chicken and waffles. Blah! It felt like my chicken had been fried that morning, put in the fridge, then fried again. It was so stale! Still, I was determined I loved it here so those had to be flukes. Went for dinner with a friend, which is a different environment than lunch. Our appetizer came out within a minute of our main course. How very frustrating! Here we are, months later, I went back for fish tacos and received the same poor quality, and less beans. Accompanied by frustration from the young man delivering our food because we ordered an entre to go and he wasn't so sure he believed us so he needed to see our receipt... umm sure, it just confirmed what we said. Everyone here is usually very friendly. Extremely friendly, in fact. That one server was the first time in my years here I've experienced that, so I don't think it's a regular thing. I honestly feel like this is one of the more reliable cafe-style restaurants in the city. Average coffee, average cocktail quality, fresh foods, decent breakfast options, tortilla soup is pretty awful, the ceviche is great aside the stale chips they serve it with (and trust me they are MIIIIGHTY consistent with those stale chips!). The Enchiladas are usually my go-to around dinner time and the 'build your own bowl' (or salad) is my lunch favorite. Waitress: friendly Drink: dark and stormy. Delicious Appetizer: pimento 3 cheese. Delicious (little bit spicy... which I liked) Meal: salad with "medium" salmon as the added protein. But t came out so OVER COOKED that I picked it up with my forefinger and thumbs and broke it in half. They quickly (very quickly) rectified this with a new much more "medium cooked" salmon steak. Salad was "alright." Friend ordered chicken and waffles and it was pretty good. I personally liked the fried chicken I tried. She didn't. Other friend ordered kale salad and it was "good" Bathroom: HIGHEST urinal ever. Thought I was going to have to lay my junk on it. After dinner used the stall, and there was NO TOILET PAPER... only a stack of high quality durable paper napkins. Can we say HARSH.!? I tore this in half and it sounds like paper tearing. I must have ordered the wrong thing because most other people seem to like it here and I've been wanting to come for ages. I ended up getting a breakfast taco with chorizo and avocado. It was ground beef not chorizo! And unseasoned at that, with a tiny sliver of avocado. And the salsa was actually warm stewed tomatoes and onions(??). Super strange since we're in Houston where breakfast tacos and salsa are a standard breakfast food. I wish I had taken a picture of the brown beef, it was so strange and gross. Its been awhile since the last visit and realize I need to come back more often. I enjoy the general open atmosphere and design. To me its casual comfortable and has a good base support of clients from the area/neighborhood. The menu is very nicely priced and cheap for the area, but not cheap on the quality of food. Two thumbs up for bang for the buck. Then menu has a nice assortment of apps, salads, sides and entrees all very flexible to swap out what sides you would like. Service could be quicker once seated but attentive once initial consultation was performed. I'm looking forward to trying out the breakfast menu. Awesome "breath of fresh air" to Houston. This place I wish we had more of them in Houston. It's kind of like it doesn't belong in clutch city, or if it did it should be in the Heights or something. Great place that serves breakfast, lunch or dinner. Word of caution, if you are headed up there for lunch, get there before 11:15, order your food and watch the Memorial Cougs pour in, otherwise you won't find a table. Breakfast here is fresh, ranging from Parfait, great coffee, pancakes, eggs, etc. Lunch: salads (shrimp and goat cheese salad is awesome), sandwiches (or "sandos" as the kids say). Haven't been here for dinner, but I'll bet its good. They got a bar so I'm sure dinner would be great here, although to me it's more of a lunch place.... Reminds me of a place you'd find on the east or west coast. They have juices as well (like mean green juices, not apple juice). Check it out and careful of the cougs. read more

I arrived in Nikes and after placing my order in the line, selfishly perched myself into a booth seat with an ample and entertaining view of many hungry folk. The next fifteen minutes were some of the longest of my life, especially since my girl got her waffles in about a minute. If you're dining with multiple, I suggest ordering on one ticket so that all the food comes out at once. But finally and after what seemed like hours of eying a steamy, steel kitchen window and waiters gliding across the floor, my moment came and before me was a feast of skillet eggs, creamy hash, and fruit to feel better. Came here for lunch on a Saturday, and while there were some positives, I came away disappointed and probably won't be back. I got the buffalo burger (with cheese, since you have to pay $1 extra to get cheese here) on the recommendation of the cashier and my friends got the honey mustard + avocado chicken sandwich and the salmon + farro plate. Overall, the general impression was that the food was bland/underseasoned and not worth the price. In particular, my buffalo burger was nothing special and tasted about as bland as a fast food burger. I can only imagine how it would have tasted without cheese! The fries also were fairly bland even though there was some kind of seasoning on them. But on a positive note, the line moved quickly and the food came out very quickly. And delicious. Tried several different options, a majority had avocado. And let's be honest, we can't complain about avocado. Great cocktails, as well and a very witty named juice menu. The food presentation was nice and the servers were fairly attentive for an order/seat yourself type of place. The side of fresh fruit I ordered had a hint of mint that was very unexpected and welcomed. Avocado mash was excellent and I paired it with egg whites on top.
