Located next to the community center and library, this is a lovely spot for coffee or a pastry. My friend and I stopped by Ada's cafe for an afternoon coffee as we made our way back to Palo Alto. I ordered a golden turmeric latte with almond milk while he ordered a macchiato. Both tasted great! There were also lots of pastries available, but none that were gluten free, from what I saw. I love that they employ people with disabilities and give back to the community. It's small inside, so it's standing room only, but there are a couple seats outside around the library where you can sit. Overall, it's a lovely little coffee shop. I like supporting these small businesses, and if I were in the area again, I'd definitely come by here again. read more

Coffee here is okay. We've stopped by a few times after visiting the library next door or Magical Bridge playground with our toddler and we're never blown away by the coffee or food. They're the only food and beverage option really so they stay quite busy - but if I had to choose I probably wouldn't opt for the coffee here. read more

What a wonderful surprise to find this gem of a café and in such a convenient place next to the Mitchell Park library. My friend and I were looking for a cozy place for a leisurely chat with a great cup of coffee and pastry. I found this place on YELP and the reviews as well as the description on Ada's Café website said it all. Speaking with the owner Kathleen Foley-Hughes was an honor and inspiration. The minute I witnessed her interacting with her employees and the smiles on their faces told an amazing story. Best of all, the business is a 501(c)3 non-profit. Especially as we begin the holiday season it was delightful and inspirational for my friend and I, for a brief time, to feel a part of this amazing camaraderie. Not to mention the coffee was superb and the pastries out of this world fresh and scrumptious. Certainly, I look forward to coming here again and again. I've been here a couple of times and wanted to leave a review. The food here is really good! Especially the desserts and froyo! I love the frittata and arugula sandwich since they are filling and full of flavor~! I need to save money, but I keep coming back. Service is always excellent! Wait, where is this? GPS is sending me to -- the library?? No mistake. Ada's is attached to the library but this is no municipally run cafe with plastic-packed cardboard cupcakes. Ada's has real food, made right there. I had a very tasty egg and avocado sandwich on a croissant and this was not some store-bought croissant. I don't know where they got it, but it was unexpected: super fresh, buttery and flaky. The real deal. The rest of our sandwiches were the same: Freshly made from good ingredients. Yes. Go to the library for lunch! Update: Wow, got a very nice reply from Kathleen and learned they hire adults with disabilities. My whole family loves all the pastries here. We come as a family every Sunday and there is something for everyone. My older son loves their cookies and cupcakes when they have them. My youngest enjoys the scones. My husband seems to like everything both savory and sweet. But especially the ham and cheese biscuit warmed up. My favorite is the blueberry scone. I probably should try something different next time I'm there but I can't help but keep choosing the scone because it's so delicious. If you eat there it's also served with cream and jam. They pride themselves on making high quality food and the owner is just lovely. It truly is a labor of love for her and the people that work there. While you're there, you can pop into the library or take a walk to check out Magical Bridge an accessible playground nearby. So far, I have only had a cookie and an Arnold Palmer. Kathleen provided all the chalk artists of the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, with breakfast and lunch. She baked such a lovely spread for both days, with some homemade whipped cream and jam. Everything was so delicious, my favorite was the apple! The lunch was so fresh, I loved the empanadas and cookies. Everyone was so friendly and sweet. One of my fave places to meet friends -- great baked goods, good coffee (with fun mugs if you get it "for here"), eco-friendly serviceware/to-go-ware, and helping a valuable non-profit. Completely separate from their worthy mission of providing employment for those with disabilities, the food, service and ambience here are very good, and the prices reasonable. We've had breakfast here a few times and never been disappointed. Portions are enough that you leave satisfied, it's not giant food as at some places, but I've always found the quality good. In warmer months, there's lots of seating outside and in the adjoining library courtyard. They've recently added a small number of tables indoors which work well during colder days. (Rain is not really an issue because most of their outdoor tables are under a covered part of the library complex.) Your are doing a good deed by supporting their mission but make no mistake, the cafe fully stands on its own in terms of quality, service, and price. read more

Absolutely delightful. Went in for a pleasant Sunday breakfast. The scones were running late so when they came on they were nice and warm and ready to be devoured in all their buttery, crunchy, bursting with blueberries goodness. We just had finished the Wonderful Wendy sandwich and were stuffed but we couldn't resist the smell of the fresh baked goodies. I was wondering why the prices were a bit high--a little ham and cheese pocket pie was $4, scone was $4, sandwich was around $12 (I think), and frittata was over $7, but after reading fellow Yelpers reviews about this non-profit that caters (pun intended) to enhancing the lives of those with developmental disabilities, I am all for it.
