Please read the reviews carefully for this business because you may have a similar experience if you choose to proceed with hiring them. I hired Advanced Moving and Storage last year to move my household across the country. I did not receive all my items until 3.5 weeks AFTER the delivery window had already closed. When my items did arrive, many things were broken. I guess this expected during a multistate move. The company cut me a small check for this damage. What I was not expecting and have not been reimbursed for was THEFT. Several sealed boxes were opened and expensive items removed before being delivered to my new location. Advanced Moving is taking no responsibility for this. Although the men loading the truck were polite on the day of the move and I was happy with their service, now that I look back on their comments on what cool collectable things I had, I should have been more wary. If you decide to proceed with Advanced Moving, I would recommend 1. Rent a larger vehicle to move your most valued items because you don't want Advanced Moving having their hands on it and possibly stealing from you. 2. Purchase all the extra insurance possible foryour move because your personal belongings will be damaged or STOLEN and you may want to replace them. 3. Have a contigency plan in case your items are delayed for long periods of time. You may have a stay in a hotel or live on take out and paper plates for a month before your necessary household itmes arrive. 4. Just pay a little extra money to hire a more reputable moving company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!!!!!! They will give you a quote then tell you maybe you should have a little extra cash on hand in cash the job goes over but then they tell you that you have to the cash on hand for whatever time it took to load the truck. Then they make you give them the cash before they unload. They will not give you a receipt for the cash you give either. Then they refuse to give you a refund. They crew was late both days and they took their time and even left the job site while still on the clock and took many smoke breaks, and a lot of sitting around. They draw out every little thing even taking one box at a time just to get as much money out of you as possible. To top it off they also damaged my wall and broke my thermostat while here and that is a separate claim process to get reimbursed for that - I'm sure they will follow thru on that too since they have been so honest till this point. Yeah right! Update: Lies, Lies, Lies. First of all this is an old account before I was married - hence the different last name genius. My husband was not arrested- lets see the police report?? People get pretty mad when you steal over $750 from them. NO, matter what you say they guys took 10 hours to load and unload total 7.25 first day and 3 hours the second day. The second day started the clock at 2:45 and stopped when then finished unloading the first truck and we started the clock again at 6 after the second truck arrived the guys finished unloading at 7:30 and took them another 11 min to fold blankets. You charged for 14.5 and I was told I would receive a refund for any used time. Which was also a lie. Your whole crew agreed with me on what the actual time was- 10 hours. They also mentioned you do this all the time - like the surgeon that you quoted $15K and ended up charging over $20K. So clearly is a normal business practice of yours and no doubt why you are not part of the Better Business Bureau. I can go on and on, but clearly you are just trying to save you reputation but if you look at the other reviews I am not the first to report this and and I sure not the last. Maybe you should just try doing honest business. Also, your workers were also smoking pot with us- an in case you haven't heard it's legal in IL now. How many of those workers are illegal workers?? You know the ones you have do all your dirty work for you since you weren't even on the job site and wouldn't even get on the phone to speak with me directly until I took the phone out of your employees hand. THE WORST!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Our house was packed on 7/26/19 with a promised 3-12 business day window for our things to arrive beginning 8/9/19 when we closed on our new home. I contacted them 8/8 just to make sure everything was on schedule and was advised by a customer service rep that they were "really behind" and things would not be shipped til 8/18. That was the last time I was ever allowed to speak with anyone besides dispatch. 8/17 rolls around and, again, just giving them a call to get an update (since they are not prompted to let us know where a truck load of everything we own is on their own) this time I was informed that one driver had quit and 2 others took unscheduled vacation. Another few weeks go by and they came up with an excuse that the driver who was scheduled needed to clear his logs and would be out to us soon. After that the truck breaks down, after that he makes it to Oklahoma City but the truck was broken down for 4 days (with no phone call to us to let us know). Well we finally got our things on 9/23 nearly 2 months after our house was loaded up. Please, please, please pay the extra money for Atlas or Mayflower or any other big name moving company out there. Team was on time for schedule move time. Team took a quick tour of the house and items to be moved. Movers started and finished in a reasonable time. Occasionally the movers were on their cell phones which was a distraction to my total move experience. A few items had minor damage to the items, but overall a great experience. My wife thought this group would save us 300-400 for a local move. This ended up costing us over a $1000..and still counting. Boxes are missing, other boxes were delivered that were not ours and the items broken...and I'd be okay with all of this if not for the smugness and arrogance of dispatch and order taker. I get moves take a bit longer than maybe an estimate, but they were WAYYYY over (even though we had EVERYTHING boxed..and even helped moved boxes both out and in... and the movers had absolutely no regard for keeping either of the houses clean. My experience with Advanced Moving was first rate. The drivers showed up on time and didn't begin the fee window until they were at the door (I've had other movers who start charging the second they leave their facility). The move was very efficient and the movers had all necessary equipment to ensure my furniture was transported safely. They also provided wardrobe boxes for my clothing at no extra cost. The transport to my new place was handled efficiently and they set up all of my furniture exactly as requested. The movers were professional and courteous throughout the process and the entire move was done well within the three hour window (as an aside, three hours is the minimum, but the fee charged by Advanced was less than those of other local movers from which I received quotes). read more

Then called and said the firm date was June 3 and I would get a call the night before with thr exact time. No call, so I call them and was told the truck left yesterday and would be here June 8 or 9. I call Tyler and he trys to blame it on new help and then says dont judge us on this little issue. I requested my furniture on May 14th in the second week of April. If you must use this moving company: 1) Pay more for extra insurance coverage. Both my boyfriend and I used Advanced Moving & Storage last month. Picked my stuff up on the 19th in the evening, and moved me into the new place the 20th in the morning. Both moves were super fast and the guys were friendly and professional. Boyfriend moved his stuff in a one day move a week later and again, they were super fast and took good care with everything, including a large wardrobe that barely fit through the door. They ended up being finished a hour early so we didn't have to pay as much. The moving co-coordinator was very helpful with all my questions and always received a prompt reply. NONONONONONONONO!!! Run do not walk to another mover. If Yelp offered a no-star option I would use it. The average 3 star review on yelp led me to give Advanced a try. I have experienced some horrific moves but this one was the worst. Sue in the office seemed very professional and their estimate of 3 guys, 5 hours, $875 total seemed very reasonable for our 930 square foot 1 bedroom + tiny nursery condo. We also decided to rent crates instead of getting boxes and that was included in the quote. Stephen delivered the crates almost an hour late on the scheduled date a week before the move. This was almost a serious problem as our condo is very strict about time windows for reserving the freight elevator. I called Sue several times and she said she would call Stephen, and that he would call me, but neither call happened. Skip to our moving morning and the guys were on time, dealt with our condo staff politely, and then proceeded to take OVER 5 HOURS to load our furniture, crates (stacked on wheeled dollies) & maybe 5 boxes onto the truck. And my husband worked with them the whole time so they really had a 4 man crew!!! Our move was not over until 8pm. It was awful. And while furniture assembly is included in the cost they didn't have time to assemble our furniture because they were seriously late for another job. I have no idea how Sue could have so grossly underestimated the time and muscle needed for our move. According to my husband, 2 of our 3 movers were also really inexperienced & from the few hours I spent with them it seemed like my husband directed not only where things should go but how they should get there & basically project managed the move with the 3 movers following his lead. The cherry on this crap sundae was that Sue called the Monday following our Saturday move & claimed that we hadn't paid the $124 for the crate rental, and that they wouldn't pick up the crates unless we paid it - meaning we would accrue more charges from the outfit that rented Advanced the crates. Arguing about the foregoing did NOTHING to change her mind. So we had to pay it. Basically, STAY AWAY. If anything goes wrong with your move, its your problem in Advanced's world. read more

Thieves. They don't honor their quoted price. What they do is hold all your bedroom furniture ransom until you pay them more money. They say there are more boxes than what they quoted and they want another $400 or so. They make you run to the cash station for cash. Did this to me and a friend of mine within 3 months of each other. Update to owners reply: This was not a phone quote, they came to my house then gave me a written quote. If I have the option of giving 0 star, I would do that ! We had moving delivery scheduled early of last December (2017). Few days before the delivery, they informed us the total weight estimation increased from 4000 LBs to 7000 LBs, we need to pay the moving fee of 7000LBs ($1600 extra) upone the arrival of the truck, then they would move the furnitures into our house. If we don't pay the required amout, they would not deliver. We tried to get their justification for the change, they just told us it was by visual estimation. They promised they will refund the money if they find out the total weight is less than 4000 LBs ( they would weigh the truck before and after to find out exact weight of our furnitures). It turned out our total furnitues weight were less than 4000 LBs ! I thought they would give us refund ($1600) soon. But after numerous phone calls to follow up with them about refund, up to now in April, 2018, I still cann't have my refund back ! They always have excuse about the delay, such as accountant is not in the office, the refund is being processed.. blah blah Definitely not recommend this company! read more

My review is a composite of 2 experiences I've had with this company. The first: (a year ago) We were moving most of our stuff from a first floor greystone in Chicago out to their storage facility in the burbs on a fairly pleasant July day. It was warm, but not the kind of butt-drenching sweat that one can expect in the middle of a Chicago summer. The movers were basically on time, but that was about the only positive to the whole experience. From there, they were slow, they complained, were relatively disorganized in their moving methods (i.e. didn't really know how to deal with moving a large wardrobe out and down 5 steps). I tried to pitch in to speed things along (we were being charged by the hour after all) and was told to "relax, we'll take care of it". All in all, with a quick stop to drop off a few furniture pieces at our new residence, and with unloading at the storage facility, I was out a hefty chunk of change, as well as having a fairly damaged wardrobe. Moreover, my experience at the storage facility was less than sparkling. The staff was somewhat rude, and I was told I was not allowed to move any of my own things given that it was a liability for them. I told them I would sign a waiver or whatever, because I wasn't okay with how slowly things were going and I wanted to speed things up (again, hourly charges here). This experience made me hate moving even more than I already do, if that was even possible. I would give it less than 1 star if Yelp allowed. The second: (today) As you can imagine, I had some major apprehensions working with this company again. Given that the majority of our items were in their storage facility, working with them was certainly the most convenient option. After a fair amount of convincing from the office manager, Sue, that things are different now than they were a year ago, as well as a competitive quote that was better than other companies, I decided to work with them again. Today, we moved back to the city from the burbs, removing all of our items from the storage facility, as well as some large pieces of furniture from our current residence. The truck was here exactly when we were told it would be. The movers were efficient, courteous, and well organized. The monster wardrobe that was such a hassle a year ago was still a difficult piece to move, but they managed moving it up an entire flight of steep stairs without causing additional damage. Also, the company will be sending out their furniture repairman to fix whatever damage exists on the wardrobe at no charge to us. The move finished exactly on time, so we didn't incur any additional charges. All-in-all, I was very pleased both with my correspondence with the office staff, as well as working with their movers. There was an obvious attention to the details this time around, and I felt very well taken care of as a customer. Overall, I would give them 4 or 5 stars for the experience. I realize this is a long review, but it's been something of a saga with this company. Advanced was great! The guys showed up on time, they were professional, and very fast. They even hoisted my couch out of my sliding glass door on the 4th story balcony down to ground level. I'm honestly not sure what to say, at first Advanced Moving and Storage seemed like a godsend after being scammed by a first moving company. Our stuff was being held hostage in a Chicago warehouse by the first moving company and we hired Advanced to pick it up and deliver it to us in California. They were great, retaping boxes, taking good inventory notes, wrapping furniture and disassembling furniture the first movers didn't. But we were told we'd have our stuff by the end of the month at the latest (3 weeks) but as the days turned to weeks, suddenly the truck had problems and had to be worked on. Maybe they'd even have to buy a new truck, it was another 3 weeks before we got our stuff. During this time we were sleeping on mattresses on the floor, and didn't have anywhere to sit for almost 2 months! We had to buy basic things to just make the apartment livable which was an expense we really couldn't afford. They missed every deadline they set. It wasn't on the truck when they said it would be (even after the delay). The delivery window was wrong each time they set it. When it did arrive, I watched it get unpacked from the semi, it was packed tight but not well. Even the driver remarked on the bad packing. Our water cooler had been placed sideways next to the couch, soaking it! So it was a mixed bag overall. They were good at answering the phone and giving updates, but the experience was still very frustrating with the delays and missed deadlines. read more

DO NOT USE. I bought extra insurance. Worthless as they deny doing it. The movers got rid of a marble tabletop they broke. Then they claimed it never existed. There was much more damage to a couch, dining table and chest. They offered one hundred dollars and I still have yet to see a check for it. Great Moving Company, I recommend them 100%! I moved to Chicago from Washington state last May and used a different moving company, it was my first cross country move. During the first move the previous moving company I had used damaged my things, broke my new TV and was very rude. I had a nightmare of an experience and was so afraid of any future moves. Then my job ended in Chicago just a few weeks ago and it was time to move back to Washington state I was so afraid of moving again because of my first experience. I found this moving company and got a VERY good rate, I was so nervous but knew it had to be done. The day of the move Adam and John showed up to move my things and I could not believe how great they were, I told Adam of my previous experience and her made sure that everything was protected. I could not have been any happier with my movers. I received all of my items in Washington state within a week of being home and not ONE thing broke or damaged! Never ever use this company. Still have not received re-reimbursement for damaged and "lost" items, and it has been about 2 years now. They do not care if they damage your things, they will find every excuse in the book for reasons not to reimburse you for lost/stolen items. We even paid for the extra insurance which is just a money grabbing ploy. There are so many items missing, boxes were opened, and items were removed from them. Even items that were hidden purposely in containers, or inside items were taken out and stolen. This place will rip you off and charge you for it. they moved us on December of 2021 to there warehouse were my furniture was to be placed a wooden crates then 5 months later they move me into our new house that my furniture was damaged and broken and missing my tools from my tool bag that was open and my dishwasher that was never delivered to my new house and they took apart my stainless steel refrigerator into pieces that are missing they charged me 10,000 for the del and storage way to much and very terrible service and they denied all my claims that I submitted af all the money I pa for this terrible service don't use them now I have to take legal action against them there not worth your time or your money or aggravation for all of this they lie they cheat and they stole from my belongings and ruined my furniture that they said they had carpenters to fix and repair my refrigerator and my new snowblower and lawnmower that are all broken by there incompetent workers very bad avoid and don't use them! you'll thank me later!!! read more

After reviewing almost every moving company in the suburbanland area, we trusted our move to Advanced Moving & Storage because of a highly satisfactory experience my Aunt had with them. They were affordable without being cheap and were very honest about how they are working on improving their reputation. I asked them about what I had read and was guaranteed a positive experience! Which it was!! I give them 5 stars on keeping my furniture and both houses in a damage free state during the move out and move in. So why 4 stars? I give them 4 stars because I feel like they could work on their efficiencies. Something I will communicate to them as well. But wanted to give them a good review here for people looking for affordable, reliable movers without researching 12 companies like I did. Efficiencies: - Money order or cash the day of move to make payment. Okay, but hard to manage considering you are working off an estimate and moves are expensive. We made this work but I think it would be better to even charge my credit card for half of the estimate the week leading up to the move and then settling up for the balance at the end of the move. Even if cash or money order. Or, personal check considering my credit card would also be on file for back-up. - Paperwork - one mover takes time away from the grunt work to do the paperwork and settle up money with you. Again, it would be more efficient if we did this at the end versus being part of the time the clock is ticking on the move. He had to get payment from me before unloading the truck so again "estimating" how long the unload would take. Really? Lets just unload and settle up. If you use my policy above to secure 50% of the move estimate before move day then you could eliminate this process and settle up at the end. That is what the movers we used in 2006 did when we moved from the city to the suburbs. There was not breaks in the move to do paperwork and call corporate. - Loading trucks - I would recommend putting wardrobe boxes on the truck last so they come off first. That way there is sufficient time to unpack them as the wardrobe boxes must be back on the truck before they movers leave. When the house gets more crowded with boxes and furniture it is hard to get wardrobe boxes to the rooms where they need to be unpacked. Other than a few things to improve efficiencies the experience was very positive. They wrap every piece of furniture to protect it and protect the interior walk ways of your house too. They all spoke English and were very polite and accommodating. Thank you for working hard to make our move a positive experience! I think with the right efficiency improvement you will be able to get a lot of satisfactory customers. Just remember, the clock is ticking from the time the truck arrives until it leaves. read more

Very Poor service ,the only part of the entire experience that was somewhat professional was the quoting... With a huge flaw there as well. The quote was issued by the owners Son who did a brief walk through our home and did not take good notes and inventory. I told the guy what size truck was used when we moved in and they still sent a 1990 something piece of junk truck with limited moving blankets. The truck was not loaded by like items and things shifted causing damages. We had requested that our kitchen be packed up and the day of the move the movers had no moving boxes and I had to rush to pack my own kitchen. The movers were unorganized and they took 8.5 hours to move out of our townhouse with a crew of 4. One of the crew members did nothing but label product and he was not a good leader. At the delivery side the company sent a 3 week experienced driver who had issues with the truck and it broke down at my storage complex and in order to make the delivery and not block the drive way I called my Father in Law to come and jump start the moving truck and the driver new nothing about what to do. Thank goodness we are in transportation so we knew how to react. We lost time on the unloading due to the truck breaking down and the owner and admin were indignant and ungrateful that we had jump started their truck, they offered us a $25.00 discount for our time. The unloading was a disaster ,the moving company hired day labor un-loaders who get paid cash and do not care about the goods they unload. The storage locker we rented was not stacked correctly and it was an overall bad experience. I wish I had saw the Yelp rating first, I never would have used Advance Moving. The attitude of the owner was so unprofessional, look things happen but to be treated so rude is unprofessional. As a conclusion, I have been moved with my career 5 times and moved 11 times by moving companies in total, I know something about moving. This company was AWFUL! read more

This company is honestly deserving of no stars. Please save yourself many headaches and use someone else. Big mistake! Others have said "worst moving experience ever" and it was for us as well. This was an 8th long distance move. When they arrive, they put your belongings in small trucks to go store your things if the one semi trailer they own is already in use. Do not be fooled by the nice estimator they send out, nor their ad. We were told a certain delivery window and after they have our household goods it becomes an entire month for delivery. Then upon delivery, our large Plasma TV is not in the shipment. It was forgotten they told us and then delivered weeks later. Many things were broken, some smaller items were never found. Their driver even tried to hide one of the broken items as he took it off the truck, be we clearly called it out. Filing a claim was ignored for many months upon end until after nine months threatening to involve a lawyer, suddenly we get a reply. Several weeks after that, finally a claim check arrives to total 10% of the claimed amount. There is much more I could share including rude and unprofessional management as well as packing/moving people actually sharing that their boss is not trustworthy. Unreal! We used this company for a move from Chicago to Florida and there were logistics problems all over the place but the clincher was they broke about $1500 worth of our stuff including big screen tv, strung us along for 6 months delaying our check and then after constant lies from their management sent us a check for $75!!!!!!!!! We had the misfortune to choose this company to ship our household goods to California. We moved in June, requested our stuff at the end of July and received them in October! When they finally delivered, they had forgotten our two large sofas, and they are now refusing to deliver them to us (although delivery for them had been fully paid). They have not returned calls and we have filed a complaint through the FMCSA. Oh, and their website has the 'AMSA' and "Promover' logos on it - they're not members! I have a letter from AMSA to that effect. We are so frustrated, have incurred so much extra unnecessary additional expense and heartache - it's been a nightmare. This moving company is awful. The quote for 3 hours x 1 truck x 3 men was 400 dollars. We had a queen bed, dresser, night stand, a couch, love seat, and approximately 20 boxes of stuff. The move was from one high rise apartment to another high rise apartment half an hour away. They were supposed to show up at 9 am. They were two hours late with no explanation. They moved unbelievably slow. It would take them 15 minutes to move 3 boxes to the truck. I can't prove it but I am pretty sure they were running out the clock and taking lots of breaks. Bottom line: It took them 8 hours. They are hourly so of course that increased the cost from 400 to 700 dollars. Some other charming things: 1. They brought cans of ice tea and coke with them and then left the trash at our place to pick up. 2. When they moved us into the new apartment, they were going to leave without assembling the couch. I had to ask them and they did it only begrudgingly. 3. They assembled the bed frame incorrectly. The bed slates were bolted in upside down. We had to reassemble the bed ourselves. read more

The office staff was very responsive- until after the move was completed. The physical move began with packing - and I never knew that you could pack garage items with wine glasses, but you can and guess heat happens ?- the glass items shatter.. Again and Again upon arrival In Green Bay did we find box after box filled with random items that the "professional packers " were paid to complete- Let me begin with the packers- house smelled like cigarettes after 5 min. and that was the upside. They ran out of boxes and materials to pack the rest of our house to return at 7 am Saturday .. no one showed up until 10.00am- 2 people still had a great deal to pack into boxes and then load the whole truck !!! I have twin 6 year old children - the truck was to be loaded by 1:00pm..... 9:00pm they pulled out- Boxes were strewn everywhere- holes in the walls, gouges you name it- Then the lead packer/ mover quits that night after loading our truck- so there goes the only employee that seemed to have any authority- lost faith in Advanced Moving very early on, but again, we are all held hostage by the moving company's- to note- the Wisconsin team of movers that unpacked the truck were the A team compared to the nonsense in Illinois- We are still emptying boxes of broken plates and glasses- I would never recommend this moving company- and I really wanted to believe in them , as they are family owned- I am not even going to submit a loss document for the broken items- lesson learned- the cheapest quote does not mean the best- They were super friendly and the Wisconsin movers ROCKED !!! read more

This was the most terrible experience I have ever had. The move was set up for Saturday between 1-3 pm at 2:45 I was called and told my crew had came in and quit. No solutions no compromises said they could do my move on Monday they don't work on Sundays. On Sunday we moved ourselves read more

This review is a continuation of an earlier review that completes my transaction with tihs company (i.e. I finally got the insurance claim). I can't give them ZERO stars and I would if I could. This company is not reputable. They delivered by items 13 days AFTER the agreed upon (contracted date). They offered nothing to compensate me for the fact that I had to live in a hotel fort 13 days. The pointed to the contract clause that says they are not responsible for delays. In this case they claimed they couldn't get a repair part for their truck. The damages that they did to my furniture totaled more than $3,000. The resolved the claim to their satisfaction to the tune of $251, after 7 months. They gave me $10 to repair a leg they broke off the bedroom dresser. I urge you to avoid doing business with this moving company if you value your goods. read more
