I have came here a few times now, so I can give a real review! So I LOVE poke bowls. I am always searching for a new one that is better than the rest. This place is not what I would consider a "Hot Spot" for poke....but here is what I DID find here that makes it a stand out place. Most poke places only have poke bowls, maybe a few sushi rolls, or raw sushi-esque items along with musubis , but this place has 3 other bowls that are fully cooked. So if you have kids that are too young to eat raw fish, or just someone who isn't a raw fan, you can choose cooked chicken, grilled salmon, or sriracha shrimp. They offer2 kinds of musubis as well as 3 types of hand rolls, and miso soup. The poke has quite a wide variety of protein options, as most other poke places. They also have a variety of spicy options (my FAVE), as well as 4 base options. The usuals are the salad, white rice, and brown rice. But here's a new one I have only encountered here; Kelp Noodles! These noodles have a bit of a crispness like that of a cucumber, but this is a low carb/no carb option. Kelp noodles have a nutritional value as well. If you enjoy a bowl but you have a small appetite, they offer mini bowls! If you need something to fit your budget, this place starts with a mini bowl of chicken for under $9. The mini poke bowl comes with 1 protein. If you want 2 scoops, it is under $15, their 3 scoops is under $17. Not a bad price at all. If you want 5 scoops, you can and it is still comparable to other poke places. So you can find a bowl in your budget. Area to improve or expand upon would be the drinks. I love the pick your drink fountains where you can choose diet, or zero option since I am diabetic. But they have canned drinks and 4 lemonade/juice options. Another thing to consider would be a dessert option too. All in all, I will definitely be returning! read more

Ahipoki is one of my favorite spots to eat! The interior is clean and comfortable. The service is casual, you come up to the bar and order from there. I always get the 2 scoop poke bowl with the plain tuna and salmon, then have them add the sauces right after. You can add all the toppings you want and one scoop of crab is free in addition to the two fish. The spam mutsubi is also fantastic and made fresh! My husband has celiac and they have plenty of gluten free options and sauces which is much appreciated! I highly recommend and will continue to come back. read more

So glad to have another poke restaurant in Elk Grove! They have lots of options on their menu and their prices are very comparable to Fish and Things. I had a 2 scoop bowl and they packed it in with toppings! I like that the crab salad was included in the prize and they were even nice enough to give me two scoops - upon request. They aren't skimpy with their portions! The sauces were all really good and the fish tasted really fresh. I ordered my husband a few spam musubis and they made them fresh. Literally put the spam on the grill, seared it and then assembled the rest. It was nice to see they put time and effort in their products. This is my first visit to Ahipoki and I've been excited to try it. First, the not so good but it's kind of important, the salmon was overcooked and dry. I had the grilled salmon bowl. Now onto everything positive. Even though it was dry, it was really flavorful. It was a huge piece of salmon, they definitely do not skimp. You get so many choices of bases, toppings and sauces! I also really enjoyed their spam misubi. For the price, you get much more than some poke places in the area. The food came out fast and the order was all correct. I would definitely go back but maybe try something different. read more

What a nice addition to this plaza! The staff were really friendly and offered samples of the fish before ordering. We got the 2 scoop bowl. We got the salmon, tuna, blazing salmon, and glazed salmon. All of them were fresh and did not have a fishy smell. There are so many toppings to choose from but I love the toppings. The house sauce went well with the plain salmon. For the drink, we got the tropical. Very tasty and not too sweet! We got it to go but next time we will sit inside. There are a bunch of tables. I ordered pick up, so it might have been slightly better had I seen they forgot some items. First, the protein scoops, are as mentioned before by others, super duper tiny! I would say that two scoops is less than 1/2 cup for sure. I also did not see any cucumbers, green onions or masago in my bowl. Super bummed!! I love masago and it's not carried at most poki spots in EG so believe me when I say it was not there. Both the rice and greens bases are super small too. It just all looks so sad in the huge container they provide. Last, I thought I paid extra for one sauce on the side, didn't see that but it could have been mixed in. Again, might have been a better review if I was there to make sure what I wanted was added, but I shouldn't have to be. I don't think I'll give them a try again. Found my new favorite poke spot! The serving size here is huge, definitely worth your $$$. Both times I've gone this week, I've gotten the 2 scoop poke bowl and I am always stuffed after. I love that they put enough sauce on the poke to dress it but not so much that it drowns the rice that comes with it. The container it comes with is huge so everything is spread out enough for you to eat what you want without having to dig for a certain topping. I usually stick to the same poke spots because raw fish isn't something to mess with. This time I made an exception because they had a $10 off coupon on the app for first time users. My experience wasn't great, for starters I think they are very skimpy with the rice and fish portion it was barely enough to fill the bottom of the plastic dish they use. I got brown rice instead of white rice and my rice was definitely either old or under cooked because it was a little crunchy. The fish was okish and the hand rolls I got were soggy and just not enjoyable. I probably won't be going back again. Aloha poke is my best recommendation for poke! They are very good. read more

First time trying Ahipoki and it was so delicious! I ordered the Hawaiian bowl (which comes with chicken) and I added one scoop of spicy tuna for an additional upcharge of around $6. My bowl came out to around $18 total before tax. You can customize your bowl however you like. The portions are quite generous and it is alot of food. The crab salad and seaweed salad in my bowl was very yummy. Their sauces are great. I ordered ahead of time on Yelp and my food was ready for pickup on the shelf. Quick and easy. Great location that opened up in Elk Grove. Conveniently located right near the Costco, it's a great spot to pick up a quick lunch. They haven't been too busy out of the few times I've been, but the line will get a bit long if you come during a rush. With that being said, service is still fast and super friendly! The option to build your own bowl is great, they have great topping selections and poke selections. Everything tasted fresh and they will let you sample some things you aren't sure about. We also tried out the musubis they have, which were quite the delightful little snack. Definitely come get yourself a quick meal here! There's a fair amount of seating in the restaurant, but they also make it super easy for you to do takeout (which is my recommendation). J was happy to find out we have another poke bowl joint in elk grove because a girl loves her options! I walked in and was surprised to see they also served handrolls and unagi musubis. But I had my mind set on a bowl so I knew I would be making another trip back here. I told the employee I'll get the 2 portions with half brown rice and half salad. But wait a minute.. did she just whip out a FLAT to-go container for my poke bowl?? Umm, interesting, but oh well. I would understand if it was an inventory move, seeing as how most of their menu items would be packed on a flat surface rather than a bowl. Well, anyways, I picked two proteins - some tuna one and the sweet glazed salmon - with sweet soy sauce and garlic sauce, edamame, cucumbers, sesame seeds, and unagi sauce. Everything tasted good and the salmon tasted so much better than the tuna. But my main problem here is the portion size of the fish. They seem to have given me 2-3 tablespoons of each, whereas other places would give about 1/3 of a cup! Honestly, I felt cheated by this. This newly opened Elk Grove location of the fast growing Ahipoki franchise is a good choice for some healthy grinds brah. It is located in the expanding The Ridge shopping center that includes Costco, Olive Garden, Buffalo Wild Wings, and an Amazon Fresh unopened location. It is spanking clean and simple, with a "Puzzle Food" concept of BYO bowls, starting with a base carb (rice, brown rice, noodles, or half and half), ( you get a small scoop of macaroni included) fresh poke fish bits toppings, or 4 grilled proteins, add a variety of sauce options ( you can mix multiple) and pick as many toppings to go with it t all. The size of the "bowl" is pretty generous. My FaveRel (favorite relative) and I both opted for a grilled protein. FaveRel got Grilled Beef ($13.95) and I grilled Salmon ($16.95) if memory serves right, but check the menu here on Yelp. FaveRel being a purest, went with white rice base, grilled beef, and Tobiko (crunchy flying fish roe). I went brown rice, grilled salmon, a mixed citrus ponzu sauce with a creamy mayo sauce, with toppings including kimchi, edamame, artificial crab salad, mango bits, sprouts, topped with sesame seeds and dried onion bits. It was pretty Ono Brah! ( or in Cali speak, nom nom delish bruh!) Poke originated in Hawaii centuries ago, as bits of fish, sea salt, seaweed and kukui nuts for a fisherman's meal. It expanded with the multi-cultural influences of modern Hawaii, and finally hit the mainland US with an explosion about 10-15 years ago with poke shops mostly in California, but spreading eastward. Ahipoki has about 24 locations clustered in greater Phoenix, SoCal mainly in the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys along with LBC and Huntington Beach, and in 4 NorCal locations in Roseville, Sac, Stockton and now Elk Grove. None in the greater Bay Area ( although there are plenty of Poke houses there) or in Los Angeles proper. This location appears to be a Family run location. First time coming here since it opened. We received a warm welcome from two gentlemen. While my husband used the bathroom, they kept handing me samples of the poke! No one's ever done that before lol so it was nice. We ended up ordering two custom poke bowls. You get to choose your base, protein, then any toppings you want. The only thing I would say is that they didn't have a lot of selections when it comes to the sauces. I like ponzu sauce and I didn't see that option. As for pokes, they had flavors that other places don't. One was called luau poke which had avocados in them. We took our foods to go but the place is pretty quiet. When an employee finally did walk out they completely ignored me, the only customer there.... I had never been to this location before so I was asking questions about their items and sauces and the employee was very short and rude. Then when it was time to check out she rang me up and walked away to the back before I even swiped my card and never came back. Tonight we placed an order for Ahipoki and I was so excited to try a new place. Unfortunately for the price it was not the best quality. The order was placed online and when we arrived to pick it up, we were told after the order was packed they had no white rice and substituted it for brown, which in theory if you're out of something you should confirm with the customer if that's a good replacement due to restrictions we would have opted for salad, but we weren't given the option. Also, ordered a spam musubi, it was substituted with brown rice when we would have opted not to have it. Unfortunately the brown rice was horrible, it was either not cooked fully, or it was the bottom of the barrel for the rice cooker. I wanted to love this place but for the price and the quality of food, it unfortunately is a lower star for us. Next time you're out of something please confirm with the customer on appropriate substitutions especially with people who have restrictions. read more

If you're not a fan of raw proteins they do have a few grilled options, we had the grilled salmon and Hawaiian bbq chicken (both were delicious and filling). If you don't like loud and crowded restaurants this is also the place to go! The service was a tad bit slow but nothing to the extent it would prevent us from returning. Poke was great at this location. This is probably the most affordable poke i've been to where quality isn't a compromise. I've always appreciated other ahipoki location's so it's no surprise to me that this location had great poke! Service was quick easy and simple. Decided to try this new poke place out. I came in on a late Monday afternoon and ordered a 3 scoop bowl with white rice. The place is clean, quaint, and modern. A nice dining atmosphere. The service was alright and the workers provided decent portion sizes. The poke was not the best I have had and there was some unasked-for edamame in my bowl due to accidental ingredient mixing when the worker was scooping my ingredients. The worker also used the same spoon for multiple toppings, which is not great. Nonetheless, it was an average poke place. read more
