I had the beef & chicken teriyaki combo. The beef had some overly hard/chewy parts but it was an enjoyable meal in general. The chicken was cooked well. Service was overall fine. I had to ask for things a couple times repeatedly. So although they seemed to be forgetful, service was friendly. I ordered the 2-Item dinner combo and selected the Chicken Karaage and Sesame Chicken for $19,75. The miso soup was served with a soup spoon which indicated this is an Americanized Japanese restaurant. Although the food was not traditional Japanese food, it was decent. The server did not know that "nasubi" is Japanese eggplant when discussing options for tempura. There was a request for the broccoli tempura to be substituted with zucchini, however the server had to be reminded of the substitution as broccoli tempura was served. Complimentary cucumber, seaweed, and ginger salad was served. It was delicious as the seaweed complimented the cumber well and the ginger provided additional flavor. The sesame chicken and karaage was cooked perfectly and was not overcooked. Additional sauce for the sesame chicken was provided. The karaage was very flavorful. The dinner combo also included a spicy bean sprout salad which complimented the chicken and rice well. It was very busy on a Sunday during dinnertime. It's my first time coming to the sushi spot near the movie theater and 24 hour fitness. This facility is very nice on the inside and the bathrooms are also whelm maintained. One of my friends happen to know the owner and he was very kind to our table. The sushi deserves a five star all in it by itself. I wasn't too impressed with my Tongatsu ramen. I have been here a couple times and the food has consistently been fresh and delicious. The sesame chicken is always tender and crispy. There was a good amount of chicken as well. The New Osaka Roll was delicious as well and there was no fishy taste or smell. The presentation was appealing and the rolls were cut in uniform. The katsu curry don was amazing. The meat was tender and the gravy was very rich and tasty. Our waiter was also very attentive and checked up on us multiple times. We went here tonight for dinner and the teriyaki salmon dinner, which comes with rice, salad, a bean sprout salad and miso soup, tasted just as I remembered from my days coming here under the original ownership. The gyoza app was tasty and I'm looking forward to the ramen I took out to go for lunch tomorrow. The complimentary edamame was a nice touch. The place is decorated a little differently but looks lively, and they kept the same layout with the seaparate sushi bar and dining room area. It's been 14 years and probably a few change of ownerships over those years, but the "New" Osaka Sushi is not what it used to be. It's way better!! The sushi rolls are well put together, tasted fresh, didn't skimp on the ingredients, and reasonably priced. The Bento's, and appetizers are pretty good and good sized. I would have to recommend the Chicken Karaage, very well made and tastes great. The place was clean and refreshed, and the staff was really nice and fast. Hearty combination entrées prepared with an emphasis on authentic Japanese flair, New Osaka Sushi is a traditional Japanese restaurant located in the Laguna Village Shopping Center in the southern part of Sacramento, just across the border from Elk Grove. Suburbia is very much the name of the game here, as service is attentive and detail-oriented, and the food is tasty, plentiful, and, most importantly, affordable, which is especially important when dining with a large group. This is exactly what our party of fifteen were looking for when we were looking for a place to dine at when visiting relatives over the recent holiday season. A local Sacramento resident suggested we go to New Osaka Sushi for dinner as they have a dining room that can accommodate a large party and their menu was accessible enough that no matter what we wanted they had an option on their menu for someone to order it. Sitting near the rear of their dining room over two extended tables we were already served with plenty of glasses of water and cups for hot water for those who requested it. The menu at New Osaka Sushi is separated into categories including Appetizer, Salad & Green, Veggie Rolls, Non-Raw Rolls, Gluten Free Sushi Rolls, Sushi Rolls, Special Rolls, Hand Rolls, Donburi, Sashimi, Nigiri, Special Dishes from the Sushi Bar, Special Combos, Lunch Combos, 2-Item Combos, Dinner Entrées, Ramen, Udon, Platter Tray Specials, Kid's Meals, and their Beverage menu. Since we were split into two groups, each table decided to order two rolls to split among their table, and our table ordered their So Good Roll, which was filled with Tempura Lobster, Hamachi and topped with Avocado, Crab Meat, Unagi Sauce, Mayo Sauce, Green Onion and Masago; and their 49ers Roll which was filled with Tempura Shrimp, Spicy Tuna, Cucumber, and topped with Crab Meat, Salmon, Special Sauce, Black Tobiko, Red Tobiko, Tempura Bits, Green Onion, and served with Deep Fried Jalapeños on the side. For our dinner entrées, the price point for their 2-Item Combos is what had most in our party intrigued and for good reason as the cost was a very reasonable $19.75. With an option of 2 entrées to select from nine options, with three options being sold at an additional cost of one dollar, I ordered their Beef Teriyaki and Sesame Chicken entrées, as the latter came highly recommended by a fellow diner who suggested we try this restaurant out in the first place. Others ordered the same combo with varying entrée options including their Chicken Teriyaki, Tempura Combo and 4 piece Sashimi, which does cost an additional dollar, but they do give you the option of what fish you would like to order. Our rolls would come out first and they were both delightfully plated and deliciously composed thanks to the plentiful amounts of masago and sauce on each roll. I really liked the deep-fried jalapeño slices that accompanied our 49ers Roll and our So Good Roll had a lot of flavor thanks to what we assume is fresh lobster judging by the shell that came with the plate in its presentation. This would get us started for our main course, which would be a number of bento boxes filled with plenty of food. The teriyaki steak was nicely cooked as it was thinly sliced and grilled and covered for the most part with teriyaki sauce. The star was in fact their sesame chicken, as when eaten fresh it was crispy crunchy and flavorful with every bite. Served with a nice side salad and even extra bowls of miso soup, this meal was as filling as we imagined it would be. And then they were nice enough to serve the young children ordering their kid's meal in our party, a complimentary scoop of ice cream, and when an adult diner in our party asked if there was any more they could offer our group, they happily obliged. Our bill came in just under $400 with automatic gratuity included, and the meal felt both affordable and generous, as most of our party had plenty to take home for another meal. With excellent service and a wide variety of Japanese dishes to suit every taste, New Osaka Sushi is a strong option for locals looking for quality food at a reasonable price. The broth was bland. If the broth was not flavorful, if the broth was more flavorful, it would be a hit. Cannot complain for an eight dollar bowl of Ramen. I've been a fan since attending high school through my '13-'17 years and it was a common place for my friends and I to come and have some good food. Nostalgia aside I have always enjoyed their level of sushi for the value it provided. As an adult attending this restaurant I don't worry too much about service unless it is egregiously terrible or is bad comparative to how well they like to advertise it. Prior to the renovation, Osaka had some subpar service, the same could not be said for New Osaka. When I finally visited for the first time after changing management I was definitely wow-ed! They definitely had a great hand in making my overall experience the best! Visually it looks the same but you can tell by the atmosphere of the new front of house staff that they care quite a bit more about how they are represented by how attentive they are. I haven't been back to Osaka Sushi in about 7 years!! They're now "New Osaka" and bring fresh, new menu items. What's crazy is that the prices have remained the same. I remember coming in high school thinking that $22 for a roll was asinine, but now the most expensive roll is STILL $22 meanwhile other sushi restaurants have rolls heading upwards towards low $30s. Their appetizers also fall under the $10 range! How did they do it?? Their portion sizes are still HUUUGE as well. The Sesame Chicken ($19.75) and Chicken Katsu Curry ($21) are definitely big enough for two meals and are soooo good and filling. Something about Osaka is that they definitely have the best sesame chicken! For sushi bar items we tried their Garlic Salmon, Dancing Scallop, 8 piece sashimi, New Osaka Roll, and Jordan Roll. The fish for the garlic salmon, dancing scallop, and sashimi were soooo smooth and velvety. Good thick cuts as well! I liked the New Osaka Roll but after a few bites it became too sweet for me. Definitely not a roll I'd be able to finish by myself, so I'd recommend family-styling it! Service was amazing. This place never misses! Every time we come here, the food is unreal and the presentation is just as impressive as the flavors. Everything looks like art and tastes even better. Huge shoutout to Chef Jackie, absolute legend! The rolls are always perfectly balanced, fresh, and packed with flavor. Super friendly staff. I came here for lunch with my niece. We ordered three sushi rolls and gyoza to share. I have not been here for years. I didn't enjoy the sushi I had years ago but noticed that it was newly grand opening, so gave it another try. To my surprise, the sushi rolls was pretty good but the food took a while to come out. Weird, because, we were the only customer around. But started to get busy after our food arrived. It's a decent restaurant, there's a bunch of tables to accommodate small and large groups. They even have a big bar area. After our meal, the waitress came by to let me know that my niece can get a complementary ice cream. Every child gets free ice cream! Omg, had to update my review!! Though Osaka Sushi has always been good, it is even better than before! Tonight we came in for our favorite dish, Sesame Chicken. We all got an ample portion of chicken, crispy and fresh! Service was friendly and efficient. The decor and overall appearance of the restaurant was the area that has most recently been improved. The old aquarium up front has been removed, the tables and chairs have been replaced with new ones, and the walls have been repainted. These upgrades were needed and they make a huge difference. We were so impressed!! We will definitely be in even more often than before. Osaka Sushi is our favorite restaurant in Elk Grove. Also, glad the restaurant is open seven days a week again! read more

We were here in this plaza charging my e-car. They had a wooden board outside advertising lunch specials so we stopped in. I cannot pass up a deal. Haha. We ended up getting the seafood ramen and the tonkatsu ramen, and split the rainbow roll. All these were on the lunch specials menu. The lunch specials are only M-F and dine-in. Food came out quickly. First the roll. It was solid and a good appetizer. Fish tasted fresh. The noodles/ramen came out next. It was a steaming bowl of hot noodles. My seafood bowl came with imitation crab, scallops, shrimp, fish cakes and onions, in addition to noodles. Broth was ok. I compared the broths between the seafood and tonkotsu and they were similar. I think - based on the menu - it's supposed to be the same. But the tonkotsu was def more meaty and the seafood was slightly fishy. I know this isn't solely a ramen place so I didn't expect it to be amazing. It was fine for a sushi place. I just find a bowl of noodles comforting. The tonkatsu had a full soft boiled egg, cut in half, a few pieces of char sui pork, corn, and onions. I would prob get this one next time. The place was probably a little more than half full. Since moving to SoCal, I've yet to find a place that makes sesame chicken like this. If you're looking for solid sesame chicken, this is the place to go! :) I was a bit confused at first with the name change and new owners, but it's great to know the same chefs are still here. My mom had a dentist appointment in the shopping center and I was hungry by the time she got out. I wanted something good, warm and comforting. I was thinking chinese then saw New Osaka. Looked at the menu and saw they had lunch specials and we were in time for them. We were greeted warmly as we came in and seated immediately. Looking back I wish we had go different ramen but that's okay. I love tempura. Now the tempura. I wish the batter was seasoned as well as the dipping sauce. So kind of bland but came out hot hot, one shrimp ( best tempura shrimp ever), two sweet potato, one zucchini and one broccoli. Now this pork bone ramen broth. I would order the broth alone. So clean in taste. No scum(if you know you know). So rich and flavor. Best ramen broth ever. My mom didn't care for the noodles as they are a thicker chew I didn't mind, but I do like softer noodles. I think its more a fresh vs dried. The new Osaka roll. So beautiful in flavors great shrimp tempura, you taste the crab beautiful fatty salmon. But super light not heavy. The new Ownership is absolutely shining. I've been here a handful of times now. The first time was a few years ago and my experience wasn't great. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't impress me as some place I'd want to return to. I heard about the changes and decided to give it a try again. Every time I've been here since, 3-4 times now, it's been a great experience. The food is really good! Tonight I had the chicken katsu curry plate and it was SO good. I've had their lobster hand roll, also very good, and I definitely recommend the poki salad! It's big enough for an entree (for me). I even love their hot tea. The entire staff is great. They're always so kind and the food is always out quickly. Surprisingly, it's not busy even with the new owners. This is my favorite restaurant on the entire planet. I've been going here for as long as I can remember. I get the same thing every time: sesame chicken and agedashi tofu. A classic staple - unparalleled flavor. Service has only gotten better over the years. I had a friend with a serious gluten sensitivity and the staff were highly accommodating. Nothing short of impressive. And with the New Osaka Sushi, they took it up a notch with the decor, TV's, and menu. 11/10. I will be back next month...maybe a couple times! read more

Went for early dinner and found out it's under new ownership. The furniture has changed but they still have the fish tank. The service was great and the food did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. They are open for lunch and dinner. They also have lunch specials too. read more

First time here and it did not disappoint. The tuna pizza and dancing scallop were my favorite, and the sashimi pieces were thick and yummy. Chef special sushi rolls were also good, I have no complaints. Amazing service with friendly staff! read more
