It's my first time coming to the sushi spot near the movie theater and 24 hour fitness. This facility is very nice on the inside and the bathrooms are also whelm maintained. One of my friends happen to know the owner and he was very kind to our table. The sushi deserves a five star all in it by itself. I wasn't too impressed with my Tongatsu ramen. I'm used to having my Ramen really spicy and this tasted a little bit more milky and creamy. Otherwise this is a very nice spot. I would return here. The prices are also very reasonable.

Had lunch here again with my son after so many years... and they still didn't disappoint. The restaurant has been renovated. No more sushi boat and no more fish tank in the front. Just a very open restaurant with great lighting. Service is great as always. We ordered a few appetizers and the yakisoba veggies are always so good! Stir fried noodles.. taste the same never changed. Their rolls are good to me because of the crispy shrimp inside their rolls! Different from other sushi spots! I hope they never change that.

I have been here a couple times and the food has consistently been fresh and delicious. The sesame chicken is always tender and crispy. There was a good amount of chicken as well. The New Osaka Roll was delicious as well and there was no fishy taste or smell. The presentation was appealing and the rolls were cut in uniform. The katsu curry don was amazing. The meat was tender and the gravy was very rich and tasty. Our waiter was also very attentive and checked up on us multiple times. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some delicious Japanese food!

Ordered through DoorDash this time: Sesame chicken donburi (sesame chicken bowl over white rice) Teryaki sauce was in a container on the side (this is a new change since previous owners which I appreciate because the chicken stayed crispy) This is one of my favorite dishes at this place, simple, tasty, and the teryaki sauce is a joy of its own. In terms of service I didn't go into the restaurant this time but I've been a customer for over 10 years and it's always a friendly and a bit more intimate because it's a smaller restaurant with a casual ambiance.

Yes, I'm back again and with the whole family this time. Celebrated my daughter's bday and she was craving for sushi. She had a long day of school and training and Osaka was the perfect way to end the day - good food, great service! We had 2 Sashimi Bowl on top of our usual rolls. The fish served was so fresh. Great presentation, too!! My son had a ginger chicken bowl and it was delightful! Will be back again...like next week hahaha Thank you Chefs and our awesome host Evan for the extra attention and service.

My family has been coming here for ages. It might be under new ownership but don't let that sway you- they still got it! We went here tonight for dinner and the teriyaki salmon dinner, which comes with rice, salad, a bean sprout salad and miso soup, tasted just as I remembered from my days coming here under the original ownership. The gyoza app was tasty and I'm looking forward to the ramen I took out to go for lunch tomorrow. The complimentary edamame was a nice touch. The place is decorated a little differently but looks lively, and they kept the same layout with the seaparate sushi bar and dining room area. Thanks for another delicious dinner with the fam!

We actually made it here for my birthday dinner after driving a long nine hours down south & back home visiting family. This particular restaurant had been recently changed & has new ownership which we think is quite a blessing bc we've liked this particular Japanese restaurant for so many years before & it is so close to home! What made this day pretty special may be bc of our waitress Whitney who complimented my wife & me bc we were matching clothing wise. My coral polo golf shirt against my wife's bright coral/white/lavender printed summer dress. Yes! I guess you can say it was bc we were celebrating my momentous milestone bday! Anywho, I showed Whitney my driver's license to prove it was my bday that day! She would have taken our word for it she said! Oh I guess I forgot to mention if it's your birthday they do a complimentary birthday sushi roll (chef's choice). We could have ordered to go bc it was such a long day already but my wife insisted that we eat in the restaurant bc she feels the experience of eating at home with a to go box just doesn't cut it. Seriously! It was all good bc I ordered a personal favorite of mine: chirashi. Wow it was crazy huge when I was served it bc of the amount of raw fish in there was incredibly generous. Even my wife was impressed & she knew I was too by my facial expression. She had her usual double salad no rice with salmon shioyaki & she was pleased. When they brought out the free birthday sushi roll bc I requested all fish my wife was happy. It was the one kind of sushi roll she can eat bc there was no rice! At least there was extra raw sashimi added to the birthday roll bc we were told they don't normally make complimentary bday rolls like that. I was pleasantly satiated. Whitney our waitress was so kind & asked if she can place a candle on the sushi & we said no need but said thank you. She's funny:-) After we asked for a box to go bc the chirashi literally filled me up! She also asked if she can bring some ice cream but again we said no! She really was trying to make my bday a special celebration!!! Anyway we will be back! We were so blessed with Whitney as our waitress who normally works Wednesday & Fridays. She mentioned someone called in sick so she was their replacement! Lucky for us! She worked on a rare Sunday! My wife said if we owned a restaurant we would want Whitney be working there bc of her bubbly & personable personality that is perfect for an awesome waitress. Yes this restaurant is so lucky & so are we!!! Thanks Whitney you made my birthday special! I had to update my review to five stars for sure after our most positive experience there yesterday! You can count on me for that!!!

It's been 14 years and probably a few change of ownerships over those years, but the "New" Osaka Sushi is not what it used to be. It's way better!! The sushi rolls are well put together, tasted fresh, didn't skimp on the ingredients, and reasonably priced. The Bento's, and appetizers are pretty good and good sized. I would have to recommend the Chicken Karaage, very well made and tastes great. The place was clean and refreshed, and the staff was really nice and fast. Their lunch special was a great deal and really worth it. Just hope thy keep it long term. Overall, this place has turned a new leaf with the new ownership. Great place and I will be back again.

Exterior of New Osaka Sushi in the Laguna Village Shopping Center in Sacramento.

Hearty combination entrées prepared with an emphasis on authentic Japanese flair, New Osaka Sushi is a traditional Japanese restaurant located in the Laguna Village Shopping Center in the southern part of Sacramento, just across the border from Elk Grove. Suburbia is very much the name of the game here, as service is attentive and detail-oriented, and the food is tasty, plentiful, and, most importantly, affordable, which is especially important when dining with a large group. This is exactly what our party of fifteen were looking for when we were looking for a place to dine at when visiting relatives over the recent holiday season. A local Sacramento resident suggested we go to New Osaka Sushi for dinner as they have a dining room that can accommodate a large party and their menu was accessible enough that no matter what we wanted they had an option on their menu for someone to order it. Sitting near the rear of their dining room over two extended tables we were already served with plenty of glasses of water and cups for hot water for those who requested it. The menu at New Osaka Sushi is separated into categories including Appetizer, Salad & Green, Veggie Rolls, Non-Raw Rolls, Gluten Free Sushi Rolls, Sushi Rolls, Special Rolls, Hand Rolls, Donburi, Sashimi, Nigiri, Special Dishes from the Sushi Bar, Special Combos, Lunch Combos, 2-Item Combos, Dinner Entrées, Ramen, Udon, Platter Tray Specials, Kid's Meals, and their Beverage menu. Since we were split into two groups, each table decided to order two rolls to split among their table, and our table ordered their So Good Roll, which was filled with Tempura Lobster, Hamachi and topped with Avocado, Crab Meat, Unagi Sauce, Mayo Sauce, Green Onion and Masago; and their 49ers Roll which was filled with Tempura Shrimp, Spicy Tuna, Cucumber, and topped with Crab Meat, Salmon, Special Sauce, Black Tobiko, Red Tobiko, Tempura Bits, Green Onion, and served with Deep Fried Jalapeños on the side. For our dinner entrées, the price point for their 2-Item Combos is what had most in our party intrigued and for good reason as the cost was a very reasonable $19.75. With an option of 2 entrées to select from nine options, with three options being sold at an additional cost of one dollar, I ordered their Beef Teriyaki and Sesame Chicken entrées, as the latter came highly recommended by a fellow diner who suggested we try this restaurant out in the first place. Others ordered the same combo with varying entrée options including their Chicken Teriyaki, Tempura Combo and 4 piece Sashimi, which does cost an additional dollar, but they do give you the option of what fish you would like to order. Our rolls would come out first and they were both delightfully plated and deliciously composed thanks to the plentiful amounts of masago and sauce on each roll. I really liked the deep-fried jalapeño slices that accompanied our 49ers Roll and our So Good Roll had a lot of flavor thanks to what we assume is fresh lobster judging by the shell that came with the plate in its presentation. This would get us started for our main course, which would be a number of bento boxes filled with plenty of food. The teriyaki steak was nicely cooked as it was thinly sliced and grilled and covered for the most part with teriyaki sauce. The star was in fact their sesame chicken, as when eaten fresh it was crispy crunchy and flavorful with every bite. Served with a nice side salad and even extra bowls of miso soup, this meal was as filling as we imagined it would be. And then they were nice enough to serve the young children ordering their kid's meal in our party, a complimentary scoop of ice cream, and when an adult diner in our party asked if there was any more they could offer our group, they happily obliged. Our bill came in just under $400 with automatic gratuity included, and the meal felt both affordable and generous, as most of our party had plenty to take home for another meal. With excellent service and a wide variety of Japanese dishes to suit every taste, New Osaka Sushi is a strong option for locals looking for quality food at a reasonable price. We can't wait to return one day soon.

5 Star for service 5 star for lunch menu specials and price My mom has been coming here for lunch on the weekdays because the weekday lunch menu specials are such a great price for what you get. It was not full house but at least half full during lunch. We ordered 4 items and shared everything. Ate half and took half home. Karaage- the fried chicken bites were huge, juicy and a great portion for $6. It was piping hot and dark meat, just the way I love it! Dipping sauce- not so good. Maybe ask for spicy mayo or mayo instead. The sauce was bland. I don't know what it was. Osaka roll- delicious! The exact types of fish we like. Asked for light rice and it was the perfect amount of rice. Agedashi tofu- piping hot, perfect crunch and chew. Big portion for $5. Sauce was the same as the karaage. It was bland. Don't know what to sub it for. Tonkatsu ramen- big portion- 2 thick and big slices of tonkatsu pork. The pork slices are usually thin and small at other places. List of veggies and ramen. The broth was bland. If the broth was not flavorful, if the broth was more flavorful, it would be a hit. Cannot complain for an eight dollar bowl of Ramen. I would keep coming back to this place, regardless for all the other delicious dishes. Very clean!!

    Ivan C.

Decided to try their lunch specials. They offered ramen for $10.95. Tonkatsu, tempura, and seafood ramen were the same price. I decided to try the Tonkatsu ramen. It wasn't super flavorful. I did like the bbq pork that came with the ramen. The chicken kaarage was bigger than expected. It was very meaty. The dipping sauce reminded me of an unagi sauce or something similar. Staff were very friendly.

The curry is so aromatic with the warm spices and the katsu is perfectly battered and cooked.

The Volcano Roll was packed with flavor and had just the right balance of crunch, spice, and creamy goodness. What really made the experience even better was the friendly and attentive staff. I ordered through DoorDash for pickup, and the process was quick and seamless. My order was ready on time, carefully prepared, and just as fresh as if it had been made right in front of me. If you're looking for fresh, delicious sushi with outstanding customer service, I highly recommend Ebisu. Whether you dine in or order pickup, you won't be disappointed. Everything exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to come back!

For the bento box, I usually get the mixed tempura as one of my choices, but because i couldn't decide between one the protein, my two choices were Beef teriyaki and Chicken teriyaki. With the entrees and bento boxes, miso soup is served. It seems more watered down than it's been in the past, but it's still good, and a soothing starter. The beef and chicken teriyaki is served in thin strips and is nice and tender. The salad was a bit bitter, and their dressing is creamy and on the sweet side. We chose a couple of rolls with our meal. The I-5 roll and the Sacramento roll. They seemed almost the same, and was recommended because it was suppose to be the most similar to the California roll, but I think I'm going to stick with the Lobster roll the next time. There is also a specialty menu that looks really good!

Then we opted for our next meal which was the sea steak delicious ahi tuna seared with ponzu sauce and the crisps of the noodle like veggie not sure the name was a good balance with the acidity of the ponzu and seared flavor of the tuna was divine. Next it comes with two rolls we ordered the SPICY JOHNNY roll and ANNIE roll loved both of them. Wish they added a few more rolls to choose from. But what we did choose was perfect. Next was dessert fried cheesecake was just enough sweetness. Not pictured had a strawberry and caramel drizzle. The only thing I wish was that the sushi chefs had more customer service along with our waitress. The sushi chef asked what sushi we wanted but never asked if we wanted or needed anything else or even talked to us at all. We ordered wine and she only came with one glass which doesn't make sense since I said we would like the same thing. Great place for families, date night.

We saw Mizuki and decided to give it a try. First off, the rolls were 50% off! So of course we each got a roll. We all loved them. I also got the taste of Himalaya which is salmon over a salt rock! Such a fun and delicious experience. The service was great. We were greeted and sat right away. Waters were promptly brought to our table as well. I would definitely recommend this location. I did have a poor experience at their other location previously; however, with this being such a great experience, I am going to give their second location another try.

Worst service we've experienced, both dining in and ordering takeout…read more The food has always been very good, but one female server has consistently been rude whenever she's waited on us. The last time we dined in, my husband politely asked for spicy mayo a second time after she forgot to bring it with our food. She rolled her eyes at him, then came back and tossed the container of spicy mayo onto our table. We didn't say anything because we wanted to be respectful to the chefs and didn't want to make a scene. Our takeout experiences haven't been much better. On one order, they forgot an entire container that was part of our meal, so we had to drive back to get it. They called to let us know they had forgotten it but also told us we needed to arrive within 10 minutes because they were closing. They also regularly forget the spicy mayo on takeout orders, even though they charge extra for it, while it's provided at no extra cost when dining in. My husband and I used to come here regularly because we genuinely loved the food, but after multiple disappointing experiences with the service, we decided it wasn't worth coming back. The food is good, but good food isn't enough when you're consistently treated poorly. I'd rather chew a jean jacket than pay to be disrespected.
