Sushi time with my kids so we decided to try Kintaro. Nice location with convenient parking. We were greeted promptly and sat right away We ordered the fried calamari for an appetizer. The calamari came with a dipping sauce. It tasted great and the portion was generous. For our main course we had the king, queen and the bay scallop roll. Everything tasted delicious and we satisfied our sushi craving. I noticed their bento box being served to another table and it looked pretty big and delicious; I have to try that next time. When we are super busy and need to order takeout, this is our to go order place. We've had takeout meals several times over the past couple of years. We've always walked in and made our order to go. The food has always been fresh and consistent. The people working here have always been cordial and helpful. It's a shared parking lot with other businesses. Ample parking but can get tricky on peak times. Eating out has gotten very expensive. I'm positive restaurant owners are feeling the expenses on their end as well. This is an easy place to access and park for free and the sushi was good if you like a lot of sauces and toppings. My katsudon lacked flavor in its dashi sauce and pork cutlet, and the ratio of rice to katsu is far out of proportion, meaning it was so much more rice than one could eat. Unfair to the restaurant, I've recently returned from Japan where the donburi is much more meat and much less rice. The sukiyaki lacked flavor and the beef was not the thin sukiyaki slices and grade. Both dishes had a number of other toppings not typically included with these dishes and while it made a beautiful presentation, it didn't really add to its taste. read more

Decided to have dinner out tonight and we selected Kintaro sushi bar. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated pretty quickly. Experience took a little down turn from there but hopefully this review will help take it to 5 stars. Once seated it took about 10 minutes before anyone came over and offered water. We made sure to have our orders ready since it looked like this was going to be what we were going to expect moving forward and we were right. My plate of food and the sushi came out right under 10 minutes but my husband's plate came well after I was halfway through my plate of food. Right before he got his food a gal came over to ask how we were doing. I mentioned that my husband was still waiting on his plate. She said, oh yes, we are behind on Bento box orders". Here comes my suggestions. If you have 2 ppl eating and both plates won't be done at the same time, I would advise of the possible wait time for both meals to come out together so they can make that decision of eating while the other person watches. Second suggestion, communication is key, at one point my husband believed his plate was given to a near by table or he was forgotten about because when my plate was dropped off there was no mention that there would be a delay on his food. Now for the food. My noodle plate was very very good. The amount of veggies and shrimp were perfect for the amount of noodles. And the portion was huge. The sushi roll was to die for. I forgot the name but I think it was flaming roll. My husband ordered the sesame chicken bento box and it was loaded. He said it was very good. I've dined here a few times now. It's usually one of the go to spots when I come in town to visit because they have Yakisoba noodles. The portion of the noodles are huge and can definitely feed two. I tried the potato and vegetable croquet for the first time and it was good. My favorite sushi roll here is the baked salmon roll. They do not have fried rice, unfortunately. They have a nice bar selection, including red wine. The music was really good when I dined in as they had R&B playing in the background. Our service was fast, our food came out rather quickly. I was only able to finish about 1/3 of the box. 5/5 - Shrimp Yakisoba: pan-fried noodles with stir-fried broccoli, carrots, cabbage, onions, and zucchini, topped with sesame seeds. The good: The place was clean. The mediocre: The food was just meh. The most promising Bon Bons (snow crab wrapped in sake) was hampered by a strong fish taste from the salmon. The two rolls we ordered just didn't have a flavor profile. At least grocery store sushi is good or bad. This was neither. The bad: 1) The service. Very inconsistent. Very attentive when our waitress wasn't around. When she was there, service suffered. 2) The aftershocks (my toilet would definitely give this place no stars). 3) The rice used in the rolls was oddly quite cold. Like it was put in the walk in cooler too long to cool down. Rice is a supporting cast member and shouldn't overshadow the star of the show. 4) The seafood Sukiyaki was bland. I was so excited to see this on a menu. 5) The scallops were bitter. Bottom-line: you'll wait longer at a place like Mikuni, pay the same prices, and get better service and higher quality ingredients. This wasn't a good value and I won't be back. read more

We haven't been here in a few years. It was pretty crowded and we over heard the server tell someone else that they were short staffed. Many of the tables had left over dishes on them and needed to be bused. There was a party of 7 in front of us. She just cleared off the table by shoving all the dishes on another table next to it that had several dishes already on it. It was kind of comical. We finally got seated and she washed off our table with a dirty towel that she had wiped off the last 3 tables. Luckily we had brought in wipes and I cleaned the table again. A male server came over and took our drink orders and said he would be back to take our order. It took a little time but we were finally able to order. We started off with the Agedashi tofu, shrimp Yakisoba, and 2 rolls the Paris and the Ryanon roll. The sushi rolls came first. The rice in the sushi rolls was really bland and actually made the rolls taste bad. The salmon in the Ryanon roll didn't taste to fresh and the tempura inside was fried in old oil. The unagi was ok in the Paris roll but just like the Ryanon the tempura inside was horrible. The Agedashi arrived next. Oh my just tofu coated with tempura batter which is not what Agedashi tofu is supposed to be. Yuck we had to send it back. Didn't like it at all. Finally the Yakisoba arrived and thank god it tasted alright. We finished all of that. We were so disappointed. I couldn't believe the food was so bad . Especially since the place was packed and more people were coming in. I ate all the unagi off the sushi and left it. I didn't finish the salmon or the rolls of the Ryanon. I don't think we will be coming back again. The server didn't take the Agedashi off and we had to remind him. read more
