Last week, we met our relatives for lunch at this iconic Italian restaurant in the center of Whitney Point. It is our "go to" when we want to meet our relatives, as it is the half way point for all of us to meet. It's location makes it easy to get on and off the highway. When we arrived, our relatives were already seated. We were placed in a booth in the main section of the restaurant. It was a quite cozy and a bit tight for a party of 5, but the food was delicious! I ordered the Caprese Salad, which was served on a bed of arugula. The portions were huge! I also had a cup of cream of mushroom soup, which was very good, with a hint of Sherry, a nice touch! The rest of my party had salads and French onion soup, which they said, were very good! Unfortunately, we were too full to enjoy a homemade cannoli! However I have enjoyed them in the past and would highly recommend them for dessert. Our overall experience at this restaurant, made our visit with family even more memorable. read more

My family had previously stumbled across this restaurant during some travels and enjoyed it. So, we made a reservation traveled an hour to return for Mother's Day. The employees all seemed to be running around frantically with no clear purpose. Our service was horrible. Waited a very long time for our drinks, food order to be taken and the food was not good. The sauce was flavorless and salty! I ordered the chicken parmigiana and the chicken was so rough, it was more like a jerky. They didn't get the order correct. My boyfriend ordered seafood lasagna and there was one small piece of lobster and 2-3 tiny little shrimps. Many service related issues! We had to ask for refills, had to ask for appropriate silverware, had to ask for salt, pepper, etc! And each request seemed to be a complete bother. We pass by this restaurant every month or so and usually will stop for dinner or take out as we did yesterday. My husband ordered the fish dinner, I the sicilian eggplant dinner, over 50.00 and barely edible. My eggplant that has been ordered by myself over the years had no sauce, no meatballs lots of cut up sausage that was tough. Very disappointing. My husbands fish dinner was okay, but not fresh. We were traveling east... this leg of our journey from the Finger Lakes toward Massachusetts. The rural roads and scenery beautiful, but not a lot of places to stop to eat. We were HUNGRY. We made a turn in Whitney Point and saw this charming old building (seen lots on the way) and saw the sign for Aiello's. They looked open and we thought we'd give it a try. Their menu was amazing. We understand they make their own pasta. They even have GF options for my wife. We could only select a few things (I added their featured Italian sausage too) but everything blew us away... service, selection and food. If you ever happen to find yourself in the lobby of Aiello's being completely ignored by the hostess and one of the blowhard owners of the restaurant, do yourself a favor: walk back out the door, across the street and into Sparky's. There you will be greeted by a very friendly person, escorted to your table and receive wonderful service. Chances are, you will be graced by the presence of Mike the owner, who couldn't be more friendly and personable. You will see him delivering food, busing tables, and helping elderly out to their car to make sure they're in their vehicle safely. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and our meal! Funny how you drive by a place multiple times in work travel and finally have the chance to stop, and it's fantastic! Driving the territory I drive, I have been through Whitney Point many times, but never stopped, and Aiello's was looking good to me! From the outside, it's a classic restaurant in main thoroughfare setup, but the inside was warm and inviting, and wafting with smells of garlic and pasta and magic! Dining areas are abundant, from entrance to the rear of the building there are multiple seating options. We chose the bar area as it was the first option. Pouring over their menu with its copious offerings, hard not to want to try everything, but I staked my claim in the steak and cheese sub. I saw a few subs being brought out and they looked marvelous! The steak and cheese sub was huge, with toasted bread, lots of chopped steak and melty cheese, and peppers and onions running through it. This place is a really nice place to eat: it is a bit expensive but the food is really good and you have excellent portion sizes. I do recommend a reservation as they can get a bit busy but once you are in their service is pretty quick. I will admit it is hit or miss occasionally with how attentive the waiter is but overall it's a good experience. The place is also well decorated and clean. One thing I don't recommend however is using their online menu to call in a order. Many times the wording or the price on things is misleading and when u get their they try to dispute what it says on the menu to make more money. read more

I had lunch here today with several dear friends I get to see once a year - at lunch at Aiello's. The restaurant occupies the first floor of a former hotel in Whitney Point. There are 4 areas to the restaurant - the lounge in the front with windows looking out on the traffic on Route 11, the center room which has built in booths and some tables, and the two main dining areas in the back. The two back rooms are quite lovely and have trimmings of a hotel from a bygone era. The side room in the back is decorated quite nicely for the holidays. We had sandwiches. 4 of us got the special which was a turkey sandwich on multi-grain roll with fries. The sandwich was very tasty. The company was even better. Aiello's has a varied menu with many Italian specialties. When I lived near here, we stopped often and had dinner. We also got pizza to take out. They have the best broccoli and cheese white pizza you could want. At lunch, there's a buffet with salad fixings, beans, pizza, and some other hot items I didn't check out because I didn't want to eat that much. We were there celebrating my grandson's 7th birthday. We were seated quickly and everyone got their drinks. My grandson also wanted water. He never got his water until shortly before we left even though we kept asking our waitress. He ordered a personal pizza, which he never got even after we reminded our waitress several times. They did give it to him upon leaving and took it off the bill. He took it home and couldn't eat it because it too was ver salty. My dish was extremely salty (meatballs), and I couldn't finish it. My daughter's pasta dish was also too salty, she didn't finish it or take it home. The two prime rib dinners were also partially eaten as it had been seasoned with a teriyaki type sauce. I was very disappointed in the food and lack in service. Lots of workers, just disorganized. It was not very busy, we were there before the dinner rush. Stopped in for lunch with family yesterday for the first time. After seeing Aiello's many times driving by, we decided to make reservations and give it a go. As soon as we entered, our table was ready. Staff prepared well in advance for a lunch for four reservation. Very punctual. I got the Chicken Parmigiana with salad and garlic knot. It was by far the best Chicken Parm I have ever have. The portion size was more than anyone could eat in one sitting, with the chicken a perfect balance of crispy, yet juicy and tender. I upgraded for a few dollars to the homemade Bucatini noodles--this was the best decision. They paired perfectly with the parm. For dessert was cannoli. Again, and I can't say this enough, it was the best cannoli I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. Our server was hit and miss, and disappeared for nearly all of the latter half of the meal. That said, everyone has their day. Don't let anyone tell you not to try this place out. You won't be disappointed. Also the pricing was more than reasonable. The quality of food is second to none! My husband and I are from PA but we are in New York for a week for our 10th Anniversary. We wanted to find a cozy place to have a nice dinner and Aiello's is 1 of the places that popped up. They had good reviews and we liked their menu and they were a Lil over 20 mins from where we were staying. My husband and I are glad we picked Aiello's the hospitality was Great and the food was Amazing, it was exactly what we were looking for. It's a nice family run, clean and cozy place with friendly staff, Amazing food and good prices. We will be eating here again before we return to PA. Summary: In top (or bottom if you like) five worst restaurants experiences for us. Details: Initially called to inquire about pasta alternatives like zoodles. I was informed that gluten-free items were available. I explained we were looking for low-carb items like veggies. Response from restaurant: "So...gluten-free OK?: Arrived at the restaurant. Seated promptly. Three other tables had people. Read through the menu once, twice, during the third time, a man came over to apologize because the waitress was having an issue with the system. Ordered drinks, promptly served. Read through the menu three more times before the waitress stopped by: "Whaddya want?" "Is the manboli customizable?" She gestures at me with her pen. "Whaddya want?" During one of the two refills for the night brought by our waitress, she stopped to make sure that we knew that none of the issues were her fault. Food arrived after a lengthy weight. My manboli looked epic and tasted pretty decent, but was a tad greasy on the bottom which quickly caused sogginess. The marinara dipping sauce was very meh. Our other dish was MUCH smaller than the photo on the menu and my husband ended up having to get a second dinner at McDonalds to fill up. About halfway through our meal, the rest of the room had filled up and baskets of bread were everywhere--except on our table. We flagged down our waitress as she was passing and asked for bread and butter. She said OK and proceeded to serve other parties. We never received the bread and butter. A terrible shame as the bread I could see on the other tables looked pretty tasty. We sat a long time after finishing our meal before the waitress gave us our second and final refill. She didn't ask if we were interested in dessert. Getting the check and paying were slightly less painful then getting our food. Waitress apologized again. Good job on being quick to take our money. We really enjoyed this restaurant. The high points were a Delmonico steak special with Bourbon mushroom sauce and a delicious cannoli. I had lobster surf and turf which was also very good (although I did like my husbands special steak a little more than mine). Honestly this place brought back memories of restaurants I went to with my family as a kid and I really enjoyed it. The staff was very nice and professional. I decided to celebrate my 50-th birthday here, because we've been in this restaurant several times while passing by in a long drive and food was always great. Our reservation was confirmed twice: a month before and 2 days before for the certain table, certain time with certain appetisers on the table upfront. NONE was done, including candles weren't lighted. Wife of the owner took an initiative to say they weren't aware of the particular conditions for the reservation, but the owner had to apologise with 2 bottles of Champaign, which showed otherwise. Till we left the restaurant, the table that we reserved, but wasn't given to us, was NOT taken by anybody else, so the "false" reservation for the larger group of people that they use as an excuse for not assigning us the reserved table was just an excuse. Food was decent, but the "atmosphere" were not pleasant for the celebration, which I inform the wife of the owner. I hope better professionals will be running this business then the wife of the owner, in order to keep up with an excellent food and service as it was before. read more
