So, I'm not sure where all the 4 and 5 star reviews come from. My only analogy would be if someone only ate $5 hamburgers and you brought them to a McDonald's for the first time in there life and ordered a burger off the dollar menu. Not as good as the 5 dollar burger, more bread, smaller party etc, but you can eat 3 and feel full. Prices are low here and you will get full on rice. Not the kind of place I would take someone who really enjoys sushi but if you have an urge to fill up on rolls, you will be stuffed for under $10 read more

Used to love this place when the first opened. Now their service is slow and often takes a long time to be counted out to leave. Sushi isn't as good. Most of it tastes old. I will give it to them that they have a creative list of rolls, some for people who won't eat raw fish. i.e. Bacon roll, steak roll. Prices are very reasonable too. read more

We decided to have our supper at this restaurant only because of its location (it's close to the mall),five stars reviews & the fact we haven't been to a running sushi place for years. Akira turned out to be a disappointment for one important reason---food,which was mediocre. I am not a sushi expert,but an enthusiast,who has been to the running sushi restaurants in a number of countries across Europe and in different states within the USA,so in my opinion,their sushi wasn't flavourful and it felt as if the rice wasn't cooked right. We tried a lot of different kinds,I found that the best one was a shrimp nigiri,yet,everything else was kind of meh. Sushi from a local Fred Meyer is definitely better! They have just opened,so I hope they will improve as they go because right now it feels like their chef is an amateur. I found the interior very boring,it didn't feel like a restaurant,even though there are some prints on the wall,but they don't help that much. The staff was attentive and friendly,therefore,5 stars. When you live on the SE Portland side, you're looking for a go to, cheap sushi places to eat. This place is it due to the quick and friendly staff and affordable prices. This is conveyer belt sushi, not the high end stuff with creative and fancy house rolls - it's a fairly basic selection, lots of different ones to choose from but nothing I found really spectacular. Some of the rolls are pretty Americanized (steak and cheese sushi!) ...but that said, it's pretty great given how cheap it is. You can get really full on totally decent sushi for a low price. I'm a 6ft tall, 200 lbs fat ass who loves sushi cause it's freaking amazing. And now I'm a 6ft 200 lbs person who has found the greatest place for sushi. Seriously. I spent exactly $15.15 on 13 plates of sushi and I'm more than full! Are you kidding me? Is this place planning on making my girlfriend leave me for being too fat? Well it may work. We travel all the way from Beaverton to eat here. They have some of the best sushi rolls and prices in the Portland metro area.

Food is super cheap and the staff is incredibly nice. I love the way they set up the sushi bar, i.e with labels and pictures, they don't just randomly put the plates out. They are quick to refill drinks and don't have obnoxious music or T.v show/games playing, it's a great play to go for a cheap and simple date, or just a quick bite :) They also do to go! read more
