This is Akura's sushi deluxe with ponzu and a Diet Coke, $47 all in (delivered with tip) . That's a good price, and it comes with miso soup and a spicy tuna roll. The fish? Fresh, nice-sized nigiri. But here's the problem--every piece was overdressed like it was trying too hard. Uni piled on tuna with caviar? Weird, bitter. Salmon roe on top of salmon nigiri? Redundant. If they dressed a few pieces with intention, no problem, but this felt like forced luxury. And nothing kills sushi faster than fake luxury. Also, I don't love when the roll is a heavy spicy tuna. I'd much rather see a clean salmon, toro, or simple tuna roll as the sidekick. This had the makings of a high score--fresh fish, solid nigiri--but the gimmicks drag it down. Akura, do what you do well and don't chase trends. C+. Follow The Raw Report on TikTok for more NYC sushi reviews.

    - Ok I am actually obsessed with this restaurant. They have hands down the best quality fish for such a good price. The beautiful colors of the fish themselves are just the start. Immediately when you put it in your mouth, you can taste the freshness of their fish. Absolutely amazing. I've ordered from this place so many times and will 100% continue to do so. - I always order their Salmon Lover and Sushi Deluxe dinner entrees. Their rolls are great too. I've had their tuna, tuna avocado, spicy salmon, salmon avocado, eel cucumber, and lobster rolls and all of them are great. But my favorite is definitely the Salmon Lover entree. It comes with 6 pieces of salmon nigiri, a salmon avocado roll, and a spicy salmon roll. Dare I say, their salmon is the freshest salmon I've eaten in New York City! The insanely fresh salmon combined with avocado literally melts in my mouth. Such a perfect roll. And the spicy salmon roll has just the right amount of spice and crunch to it. I couldn't recommend a better sushi place for this price and top tier fish quality. I think about this place all the time.

My favorite go to sushi place at my job. Usually order through grub hub and delivery is always fast. Love getting the lunch special option of 3 rolls and miso soup. Their miso soup always hits the spot. Usually get the lobster roll, spicy tuna or salmon crunch roll and salmon avocado roll. Quality is always super fresh with large chunks of meat. So satisfying and delicious for the price.

Delivery was fast and convenient. I ordered the Beef brisket soba noodles and miso soup. The soup was delicious. The noodles...not so much. The whole dish is extremely grey/brown - the noodles are literally indistinguishable from the beef in color; there is very little beef; calling it brisket feels inauthentic. And the taste is meh, bland.

Ordered delivery lunch and everything was good and fresh. Delivery took more than 1h though (wednesday ~12pm order, hot it at 1.30pm...) Total price was $18ish without tip and no delivery fee. I bit pricey for my likes

Crab Stick Tempura Roll as a coned was a cool idea. I can't choose between this or the Calamari Tempura Roll. Almost same in taste/texture.

The food was good, I enjoyed eating the mochi as well as the calamari and crab tempura's. Look forward to trying some new things on the menu. There was a lot of options on other dishes.

this is a basic and solid place for sushi. They have all the standard rolls and you can definitely get both sashimi and Nigiri here. They don't have anything like an Omakase menu of course but they do have great lunch dinner and snack options. I came here during lunchtime and they do serve some sake as well as beer and wine. We ordered a platter of a variety of sushi and I will say that all the ingredients were really fresh. I don't think it was extremely creative or out of the ordinary but it was a really great option for the area and if you're hungry they have lunch specials as well. I would come here to pick up food as well as for a quick grab and go option or if I needed lunch in a hurry

I cannot win tonight. After a disaster at previous place, wanted to get something different. So I ordered chicken teriyaki. The worst chicken teriyaki ever i ate. No teriyaki taste at all. It was just steamed chicken and teriyaki like some sauce on it!! With my Asian food cooking knowledge, i could have made better. Also i got some rolls; spicy tuna, salmon and eel avocado. The most i enjoyed from this meal was eel avocado roll. Won't come back.

Incredible! I couldn't wait to finish the sushi so I could post this review. The fish is super fresh and the sushi is very very tasty. Their fish to rice ratio is also great! The food was delivered within 20 mins of placing the order and every single bite was satisfying. Ever since a local sushi spot closed down I'd been on the hunt for my next go to and I can confidently say that I found it. Can't wait to work my way through the rest of their menu soon

Nice spot with a lunch special till 3pm weekdays. Great service, very quick and friendly.

3 sushi lunch special- full plate of rolls but they are small. Got the 2 shrimp tempura and 1 lobster roll. Temperature shrimp were extremely tiny (see photo). The lobster had a very fishy taste which I didn't like, it made me feel as though it was actually crawfish. I thinks it was crawfish because disassembling the food the pieces resembled a crawfish. Overall the flavor were decent. The customer service was GREAT!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

Now, having said that although the food was decent, there were a couple of questionable choices in the overall presentation and plating and the sauces that accompany the black cod bento box I ordered, which did not actually come in a box. Everything is brought out piecemeal so you don't get an actual meal before you, but a lot of little plates brought out at different times, kinda like the Japanese equivalent of Tapas. We have been to this location twice, hoping the first time was a fluke, and trying to give them a chance only for the second time to be worse. The waitstaff is entirely disengaged from the customers. They rush you through the order process and don't explain any of the menu offerings, such as what is the difference between the different platter options. When they do come over, you are greeted with the sweetness and warmth of an unemotionally flat "What do you want?" After you get your food, no one comes over to refill water and cups are initially filled halfway with too much ice. No one comes over to remove plates afterward, and they definitely show no interest in finding out if you are enjoying your meal in the least. The booth we were sat at had not been cleaned after the last party's use so there was sauce all over, and it got on the back of my pants, which I later discovered while walking home...the joy. After eating comes the best part, they come over with these tablets outlining your check on the screen. Meanwhile, the tablets are strapped to their bodies the entire time. They don't allow you to scrutinize the charges in peace, no, they stand there impatiently for the duration either swerving from side to side of tapping their foot signaling discomfort that you're taking way too long. The funny part is the straps have clips to remove the tablets so it's not like it's impossible to leave the tablet and come back shortly. The whole process feels very rushed and pressurized for you to tip with one of the predetermined button selections, which start at 25%. Ummm, service sucked so no, we're definitely NOT starting there. I guess now we're both disappointed. Eventually, you get no paper receipt for your records even if you ask for it to be printed. And the whole time, the waitstaff is with you judging you on your tipping and not even being graceful enough to restrain their reaction. So no, not going back, and definitely would not recommend as a place to have a good time. Now, if you're looking for an uncomfortable experience served by someone that completely ignores you during your entire time there and expects an exorbitant tip to boot, then yes, this is the place for you!
