    Chicken Shawarma

In my book, Al Aqsa is an early contender for the best restaurant to open in the area in 2023. The chicken schwarma wrap I had was flavorful, savory, and full of soft and crispy texture. The dark meat remained moist and the sharpness of the peppers kept it lively. A generous portion of hummus, flavored with beef and full of almonds, was creamy, complexly seasoned, and served with plenty of bread. I'd serve it for Super Bowl Sunday. It's relatively inexpensive, worth taking the trip up 287 for, and offers a full dining room. I'll be back!

One of the best restaurants on Main St.! Excellent Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food. The kebobs and shawarma are delicious. I always make a point to eat here when I'm in Boonton.

I wanted to try a place that I have always passed by on my way to work. I stopped in and ordered take out for lunch. There is a medium sized dining room that is painted in a nice upbeat color for you to enjoy your meal. I ordered the Lamb Kebab Platter. It is advertised as coming with two grilled skewers of marinated lamb, grilled vegetables, and tahini sauce on the side. The food service came out a little slower than expected which if it wasn't so warm and humid inside the restaurant it wouldn't have made the wait that noticeable. The lamb was a little tough for my liking and lacked flavor. The only flavor that I was able to get from my meal was a HEAVY taste of cinnamon from the rice. The grilled vegetables was a sliver of tomato and a few slices of onion. I was a little disappointed with the meal because of the lack of flavor and portion size. I doubt I will be back there are better options in the area such as kabob paradise.

Very fast delivery and my food was still hot off the grill. Filet was phenomenal, well seasoned and tender. I loved the spicy pita bread and definitely will get extra next time. I didn't love the rice, I was not a fan of the cinnamon flavor and prefer more of the kind that places like fasil and Elma's use. If you love onions (i don't) the little side of grilled veggies is all onion with a little pepper and tomato.Yogurt sauce is some of the best in the area.

Mixed grill and red snapper was a favorite! Hummus is tahini forward. Lamb chops were average. Sauces were delicious. We enjoyed this place. Did not dine in so can't comment on service or ambience.

On our way back home, stopped in Boonton, NJ and stopped here because it was one of the only places in the area open on a Sunday evening. The server was very patient with us. I ordered the hibiscus drink; heads up it isn't sweet. I expected the avocado salad to be more like guacamole but it had more herbs than I anticipated. Very yummy! I devoured the chicken shawarma and kept wanting to eat more even when I was full. I am getting the baklava to go.

I adore this restaurant! The chicken shawarma sandwich is very flavorful and delicious. I love the assorted pickled vegetables they include with the sandwich, it adds a wonderful zesty flavor that pairs well with the seasoned fries and sandwich. The fries are seasoned perfectly and are always crispy! The staff were incredibly kind and thoughtful, very welcoming. The seating felt comfortable and familiar. I included my own bread in the photo but the rest was all from this delightful restaurant!

I went when they were fairly new. The sandwiches are delicious and so are the fries. I liked the flavoring or the avocado salad but it was a bit mushy for me. We also got wings and they were good. Overall I would return! Great for lunch. I have also previously tried their shawarma platter and that was amazing.

Delicious! I love the food here. My husband and I order from here probably once a week. Sometimes more! We've ordered chicken kebab entree, chicken shawarmas, kofta, falafel, baba ganouj...so, so good! I'm so happy to have this place right in my town. We haven't dined in yet but hope to soon!

Nice spot in Boonton for Mediterranean. Opened a few months ago. Hummus was a a highlight, and the chicken shawarma platter was excellent. I can see this place taking a spot on the list for some of the best Mediterranean in the area. Service was kind and attentive. Will definitely be going back.

The bread is served fresh and steaming hot, the dips are delicious and flavorful, meat is seasoned and cooked perfectly (the chicken shish and lamb adana are my favorites), and the bitter black tea and sweet baklava are a perfect way to end the meal. We started with the cucumber, pistachio, and yogurt, with harissa and sesame seeds. Like a very creative and refreshing Mediterranean pickle. Delish. We also got the Mediterranean salad. It was much more interesting than your typical Greek salad. Excellent feta, good cucumbers and tomato, and nice little pita chip slivers. They also start you with very good bread with olive oil and some olives. For our entrées we got Chilean Seabass, Branzino fillet, and Mariscada, which is a big shellfish stew. While it's not indicated on the menu, all entrées come with saffron rice, sautéed vegetables... And their homemade potato chips. The person who got the Mariscada was so happy. It had every kind of fresh shellfish and really was enough for two people. I really enjoyed the Branzino fillet, which came with a lemon caper sauce. It was huge and very delicious, I had to give some pieces away. The Chilean Seabass is the most expensive, at $55. For me, I felt that I have had better Seabass and I preferred my $36 branzino. But the person who ordered it was thrilled and thought it was amazing, and gets it every time here. I loved the saffron rice, and the homemade potato chips. I didn't eat the sautéed vegetables (there was just too much food everywhere!). But the person who tried them thought they were extremely delicious. Overall, this is a great place for sharing, with tons of food. And the cucumber, harissa yogurt, pistachio and sesame seed appetizer showed that they are innovating and not just doing your parent's Don Pepe. Oliver was also a super server as was everyone else on the team. And we enjoyed the patio... though I must say that being over Route 46 traffic is not the most atmospheric, and I wish the patio was on the other side! But who can complain with all this yummy food? Looking forward to coming back here next time I'm in New Jersey.

It seems that the food tasted the same but presented & plated differently. I asked the waiter if the Chef remained from the previous establishment and he confirmed; this is why the food tasted familiar. I'm not sure if I'd return and would say my overall experience was just, OK. Arancini: Arborio rice was bland & cold Clams Casino: Good, but the mashed potato did not pair well Mariscada Red Sauce: Good, tiny little shrimp & obnoxiously large calamari rings. Prime porter House: Just Ok not prime but rather choice and they offer no sauces, presentation needs work.

I could not view reviews of dishes, so had to step outside to take a peak. Cannot justify paying such prices for dinning in a tiny, dark space in half-basement in the middle of NJ. Just can't. The portions are generous, which is good. But the prices are still outrageous for the location and vibe. It is BYOB for alcohol. We walked in on Sunday at 6pm without reservations and by 7pm, the small space filled up. The $12 hummus was bad. Store bought hummus of the cheapest brand tastes better. Seriously don't understand how a hummus can taste so bland and meh. No seasoning? The pita that came with it was low quality--it gave my friend an allergic reaction right away [he has sensitivity towards poor quality flour products]. $44 paidakia--lamb chops--had 4 chops that were tender and delicate. Pasnip pure was bland and totally a miss--did nothing to complement anything on the plate. Barely any demi lace sauce--definitely on the dry side. Asked for potatoes to be sutstituted for brocollini, but the kitchen did not follow through with that ask, even though our waitress confirmed it was possible. $39 lamb souvlaki was a solid dish. Filling and hearty. Good quality meat skewer. Smoked eggplant puree had a very strong smoke flavor. Lemony potatoes had bright, refreshing lemomy flavor that we appreciated. Service is attentive and quick. Complementary toothbrushes in the bathroom were a nice touch--a star for this little amenity.
