What a gem of a place! Stopped for a late breakfast on our way from SF to Santa Cruz. We sat outside, which was so comfortable and airy. This cafe is always busy! It opens at 9am which I think is a little late for a breakfast place. They don't take reservations and the wait was like 7 min. We sat inside because the cigar shop next door overpowers the smell outside. I got the Mediterranean scramble and it was amazing. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the sun dried tomatoes added a great texture. The potatoes were okay, i was turned off by the amount of oil used to cook them. Our waitress was very nice. I would give this place a 3.5 because nothing on their menu is especially amazing, its solid brunch food. They claim to be famous for their oat pancakes, so I of course got those filled with bacon and topped with an apple cinnamon concoction. And yes, they were good but not absolutely divine. One thing I love on their menu, however, is their avocado toast. Some of the best avo toast I've had (I always get mine topped with locks at this place). I had their huevos ranchers, not my absolute fav. They have a pretty diverse menu, so there are a lot of creative options to choose from. But definitely, a place to go if you're in Burlingame. There is usually not a wait, as opposed to stacks (another popular brunch place in Burlingame). Actually comparing the two brunch spots, Alana's is a lot homier than stacks and I pride them on that. Cute ambience, definitely a place to go with your grandma or mom. That's what i did and she really enjoyed it. Keep it a small group though because it's a small place so 2 is comfortable but more than 4 is pushin it. We went at 1 to miss the brunch crowd and it totally worked in our favor! We were seated as soon as we walked in. We ordered the most popular dishes here which are the Company's Calling and Oatmeal Pancakes. Those oatmeal pancakes are the real deal like not sprinkled in the way chocolate chips are but literally oatmeal batter in the form of a pancake. My grandma felt like they were a bit stingy on the syrup because they give you 2 itty bitty cupfuls of it. Companys Calling was pretty tasty but beware it's not a light bite either. I came here a few days ago. It looked like a nice brunch place. I was very excited to try it. I arrived and had to wait to be seated. My friend and I were on the wait list as a party of 2. Imagine my dismay When I saw two other groups of two get seated before us by the owner of the restaurant. I explained to her that we were there first but she dismissed me Saying that it wasn't her fault that the waitlist was confusing. I really liked the potato hash that came with it which was salty, savory, and had an extra crispy exterior. Homemade hot sauce was spicy and yummy with the potatoes. This place gets busy during weekend brunch. We came on Sunday around noon and waited about 30 minutes for a table for 2. We got seats at the bar which I liked since we could watch all the cooking in action! A tiny but super popular place for brunch on the weekends. Our wait for a table for 3 on a Sunday morning was about 30 minutes at 10:30AM, which is pretty standard for downtown Burlingame. Once we got seated, we ordered the oatmeal pancakes with cinnamon apples ($11), the farmer's garden ($13.25) and company's coming ($14.75). The farmers garden consisted of sautéed veggies and melted cheese on top of potatoes, with two poached eggs, while the company's coming was that with an addition of Italian sausage. Both dishes also came with your choice of a scone, coffee cake, English muffin or toast. I would highly recommend the company's coming for meat eaters since the sausage adds extra flavor. The portions were decent and both dishes were filling and delicious. The oatmeal pancakes were a twist on your classic pancake. They tasted fine, but kept falling apart due to too much oatmeal and not enough binding agent. Overall would definitely recommend Alana's over some other breakfast/brunch restaurants in Burlingame. read more

This is an awesome brunch spot - great food and hearty portions. There was a ~15 min wait for two at 10:45a on a Sunday. The only complaint I have is that we were pushed down the list a couple times because the host said he "couldn't figure out how to pronounce" my name after I finally got up and asked why he kept skipping us lol. He could have at least tried!! Oatmeal pancakes are unique and I would definitely recommend trying these. Comes as a stack of three which we couldn't even finish. The farmers garden was delicious - veg hash was mixed with lots of melty cheese and the eggs poached perfectly. Try the scone that comes with it rather than the toast! Mimosas came with an adorable little bottle of champagne and fresh OJ - wonderful. 2 hour metered street parking, unless you come on a Sunday then it's free. I was initially extremely disappointed because we put down our name early in the morning right after they opened for 7 people and they told us it will be a 40 min wait. We arrived there 20 minutes in. The attendant told us that the table they plan to give us, the people are still eating so it will be a while "it is more near than far" or something alike. Since we had time to kill, we went aound the corner and came back after ~ 20 -30 min only to see that they had given our table to someone else! Apparently they called out our name but in this day and age, they need to have at least a simple system to take out phone number and call once the table is ready. Most places have a self check in QR code and a waitlist, and you get text updates. This experience felt so ancient! We have to wait more than 45 minutes beyond that to get a table. We were waiting by the door and they rudely told us to move away. The soju bloody mary was a disappointment. The veggie burger we got had mushrooms in it which was not mentioned in the description on the menu. Everything else in the food was pretty good and the oatmeal pancakes were really soft, quite mind-blowing actually. Egg dishes were quite good, portions were decent. Overall I highly recommend the oatmeal pancakes and generally food and vibe is good but please improve your check in system! read more

I had a very disappointing French toast this morning and I'm still craving French toast to make up for it. Maybe I should have tried the more popular oatmeal pancake, but I was just craving something more bread-y and soft and sweet. Their menu says they use raisin focaccia bread, but it didn't taste like any kind of focaccia I've ever had, even if it is day-old bread. The bread was rather thin and seemed a bit more like two pieces of sliced bread put together with raisin in the middle. I had a few bites of my friend's egg scramble and potatoes. It was over-salted, for sure, and we remedied that with lots of ketchup. Note that you must have your full party in order to be seated! read more

This place is perfect , we came here on Tuesday and there were a lot of people at the outside tables but we did sit inside and loved everything ! The one waitress (I don't remember her name ) suggested that I try the salsa and promised it wasn't spicy and I trusted her and thank the heavens I did !
