What a treat - I've been missing out! My friend and I decided to have our quarterly brunch here after having pre-game coffee at Common Wealth. I was iffy at first - we could have just had brunch at the coffee shop, but once I saw the menu I was convinced. My sister had been here before and suggested the Tacos Gringos (with pastor pork). So my friend and I split a ceviche appetizer, and I had a pepino (cucumber) gin, and the pastor tacos. The ceviche was unconventional, but it somehow worked! I'd never had ceviche with green olives (or any olives) in it. And while I didn't eat the olives, the brine imparted a different, but welcome, salty flavor. The tacos were GREAT. I was confused by the menu's description of calling the tortillas "action-packed" but I feel like I got it. They were slightly crispy and held together well. The rice and beans were also great. The drink was super refreshing. Staff was wonderful. The view? INCREDIBLE. The weather was gorgeous. Cool, slightly windy, so we sat outside and admired the view of north San Antonio. Amazing. I visited Aldaco's on a busy Saturday evening but we were able to get a table outside for a group of 6. The food was good, I had a cup of the Chicken tortilla soup and of course chips and salsa. My favorite part of my meal was my jalapeno hibiscus margarita, it was a 10/10 for sure. I tried a taste of the enchiladas as well which were delicious. The views are gorgeous from their outdoor seating and the bar area is very spacious. Parking can get spicy during busy times but overall it's a great place to gather when you are in the mood for Mexican and in the area. read more

It is Mother's Day weekend so this may be the reason for the lack of service. We made reservations for a group of 14. We did get a courtesy call about our table which was nice. We sat down and had our drink orders taken. The main issue was it took one hour and half for food to come out. I had chicken enchiladas which were good, the beans could have had more seasoning and my daughter has chicken quesadilla with fries. Over all the food was good just slow service during busy weekends. It's about a 30 minute drive from downtown San Antonio, but well worth it. I've never had an avocado margarita and wasn't sure I would like it. I was wrong, it was great! No after taste, and it pretty strong. The mango jalapeño margarita had the perfect blend of mango and jalapeño. The outside patio was closed, as it was under construction but we were able to go out there and take in the view. The only thing I would say is the portions were a bit on the smaller side compared to other restaurants, but we will definitely visit again. Great food! read more

When I worked downtown, I was a regular at Aldaco's Sunset Station. I was eager to find out if the Stone Oak location served the same delicious food. I eagerly browsed the online menus to save time. The lunch menu at the restaurant was streamlined from the online lunch menu but my server Haley assured me and my dining companion that we could still order chile relleno al cilantro and beef enchiladas lunch special. The online lunch menu needs to be updated. I read on other reviews that chips and salsa was an extra charge so we skipped it. The chile relleno topped with cilantro sauce was flavorful. The ensalada tres marias was disappointing...soggy greens drowned in lime cilantro dressing. Haley brought me another salad with the dressing on the side, much better. My dining companion was underwhelmed with the beef enchiladas. The enchilada sauce and rice lacked flavor. How interesting that the online lunch menu described the dish as two beef enchiladas in TexMex meat gravy sauce. There wasn't any meat in the sauce! My other dining companion ordered the Jose special, 2 cheese enchiladas and a beef fajita taco. The beef fajita meat was not grilled and lacked a smoky charred flavor. Be sure to ask for tortillas if you want some since they are only available upon request. Overall, we weren't impressed with the food. It was average but nothing we'd order again. We visited this restaurant for a late lunch on a Saturday. It is in a shopping center and had plenty of parking. It wasn't busy when we got there, but started to fill up as we were leaving. We were sat right away. The restaurant is very large and has an amazing view from the patio. We don't normally pay for chips and salsa, but they were cheap and really good. My wife got the flautas and I got the tacos al pastor. Both were delicious and the portions were large. I had so much al pastor that I had to ask for more tortillas. This relleno has a wonderful sauce, but the batter was soggy and the filling was less flavorful, there were no mushrooms as the previous menu item. Sooo good! We're staying close to the Alamo but in a recommendation, we drove 45 min in rush hour traffic to have dinner on a rainy Tuesday evening. The patio was under some maintenance but it looks gray for a party or a sunset dinner. The indoor is brightly decorated and the staff knowledgeable and courteous. Our server recommended Hibiscus jalapeño margaritas and it was a great starter. We skipped the appetizers and ordered Chile Relleno Enchiladas and Street Tacos San Miguel. The food was outstanding, but the service left much to be desired. I swear I said "Thank you" to our server (Ever) a minimum of ten times. It actually became a game between my wife and I. And no matter how many times I said it, I never got a "You're welcome." There was no welcome greeting, no smile, he just did his job in silence and unpleasantness. Like I said though, the food was delicious. I've been coming to Aldaco's since 2000 when I worked at the one inside Sunset Station, also worked and patronized the "Paloma Blanca" in Alamo Heights, and visited the one on I10 multiple times. What a fun place to dine! We dropped in after mani/pedis in the same complex. They have a stunning patio that has the most beautiful view overlooking really breathtaking scenery. You can eat outside or inside and there is plenty of room for both. We ordered the flamenado as our appetizer. Our waiter Cesar lit it on fire with 151 and it was the best we have had. We each ordered different meals and Cesar was amazing dealing with our allergies. They substituted our rice for vegetarian rice and it had corn, chick peas and squash in it. I can only comment on my appetizer platter (la botana), as it was the only thing I ordered. I didnt have high hopes for this place, considering how hit and miss it was. Overall, this place does rest heavily on its interior and hilltop view to attract people, while serving traditional tex-mex that doesn't reinvent the wheel from servers who aren't that attentive or friendly. They also put limits on how long you can hangout on the outdoor patio. So either people are camping out while enjoying the view, or this place has tons of foot traffic that end up waiting just to have a good view. I do like that they open at 10:30am on Sundays. Gives early birds like me a chance to get in and out without dealing with the crowds. I find it almost appalling that you have to pay for the chips and salsa. In my case, I didn't need anything, since I was going to have plenty of food on my plate. Everything had a great melted cheese texture that wasn't burnt or undercooked. The fried corn products tasted average but at least had a corn oil taste. The quesadilla had a soft but sturdy texture. I wish the items in the middle were easier to spread (guacamole, pico, sour cream) but this is my being nit picky. read more
