Wow! So, it's really difficult to impress me when it comes to Levantine food, but this place takes the cake! Wow! Okay, we were there on a Saturday late afternoon and it was pretty slow inside but let that not fool you! From what I hear, this place is pretty poppin' in the evening with the outside patio area full of hooks smokers! In any case, we were a large group celebrating my cousin's wedding, about 18 of us. We were immediately greeted by our host and were attended to by three individuals. As we were all coming from different areas, they generously allowed us to wait for our entire party while seated. We ordered family style. After about 15-30 minutes they brought out four different cold mezzas (appetizers): hummus, tabouleh (finely chopped parsley with tomatoes and bulgar doused in lemon juice and olive oil) , baba ghanouj (broiled egg plant) , and fatoush (a salad with sumac and fried bread added): they also added two warm mezzas: kubbeh (balls made from bulgar stuffed with pine nuts and ground beef) and cheese boreks. This sounds a bit cliche but it was ALL delicious! I don't even know what to say. The eggplant was roasted and you could taste the smokey flavor. The hummus was delicious and the tabouleh is basically the way you assess any middle eastern restaurant. Aleppo's tabouleh was exceptional! About 20 minutes later, we were brought a family style plate with various meats, kofta, chicken kabob, filet meat, and rice. Much like the mezzas, the meats were delicious and cooked to perfection. I didn't try the rice but my girls loved it too. I would definitely recommend Aleppo's kitchen to anyone and everyone. In fact, I think it's worth the trek down to the OC! Sahtain! This is the best middle eastern food I've had in LA. Everything my wife and I tried was fantastic: chicken shawarma plate, rice, hummmus, pita, fries, garlic sauce, and tahini. I had the cheese sandwich and baba ganoush. The food was ordinary. But respectable. The pita was not much of an experience. I would have preferred better. I like stronger olive oil, more garlic and more spice. I make all of this at home so I have some perspective on it. The sandwich had a nice crispy texture since it was pressed. Needed more sauce? This place serves the most authentic and delicious Arabic food I tried outside of my family. The chicken is juicy with spices and not so much salt. The hummus is zesty, stuffed grape leaves are amazing. Rice is just how its supposed to be. Falafel was different than what I am used to from my Arabic family. It did not have any or little parsley and was not green, still was delicious. Very fresh and good ingredients. Thank you for making great food, wishing you lots of success. Fresh olive oil and tahini just made this spiced "Fool Medammes" a wonder! I tried the "fool" (beans with tahini), the falafel (made of garbanzo), the cheese sticks (those were big, with delicious haloumi cheese), the samboosa (amazing beef), and my wife tried the chicken shawarma (clean, right amount of garlic, and well spiced). The only reason I came here is because the food is good. If it were for the customer service, I would never step a foot in there. The young guy working the register needs to learn a few things about how to treat customers. We drove 1 hour to get here and arrived 25 minutes before closing, he didn't want to serve us and told us he will only allow us to take food to go. We asked him if we could please eat here because we drove far and are visiting from out of town, he said he would put the food in boxes for us to go and we can start eating there but would need to leave when they closed. We also watched him turn away a party of 5 because they were closing in 20 minutes. There's no greeting or welcoming smile here from the staff. The food was good though, gotta give that to them.
