Came in for the first time on Sunday afternoon for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. It was nice being able to get into the waiting list online so we didn't really have to wait to be seated. It took a little while to have our orders taken but that's really the only negative. Their coffee was great, I love Intelligentsia. The food was delicious also. I had the French Connection with the creme brûlée French toast and it was delicious. My husband had the butcher's block skillet and he enjoyed that as well. We'll be back for sure. read more

After 3 plus months of staying at home, decided to venture out with a friend today for breakfast. While the tables were evenly spaced 6 or more feet apart, and the food was ok, the hostess seating us had her mask on her chin, and several of the wait staff had their noses sticking out of their mask, including our waitress. Covid is real, numbers have slowly gone up again in Kane county the past few days. We live in North Aurora and Alexander's has been my favorite place for breakfast in the area for years. Lately though the service and food have been going downhill. The scrambled eggs used to be perfect and now they are overcooked or burnt. My family has just told me that maybe we need to find a new breakfast place. We went this morning for Father's Day by my choice and it was the worst visit yet. Our server was Nit great again today forgetful and inattentive. We would ask for things and they never did show up. One order didn't have the right potatoes and when crispy hash browns came back to replace the cubed potatoes they were the burnt scraps from the grill. We were shorted bacon, and a toast order never came out. My mom didn't even eat her eggs because the were so overcooked. I understand that it's hard to get good staff but there was lots of standing around by the servers. If it were up to me this would be our severs last day and the same for the cook. Very disappointed in how far the quality of the restaurant has fallen. I hope you can turn things around. read more

We frequent Alexander's and are usually very happy, but lately every time we've gone it seems to be getting worse and worse. Today we had a terrible experience. And let me just say, they weren't on a wait when we arrived and from the looks of things they didn't go on one the whole time we were there. (Point being they were NOT busy.) Our service was just plain awful. She never brought my husbands soup he order, my daughter ordered Mac and cheese and she brought out a Mickey Mouse pancake, I asked for a VERY simple skillet with just potatoes, cheese, eggs and bacon. I was given one with TONS of onions and when I went to return it, the chef came out and told me I was wrong and that there wasn't onions in it?!? And he was not nice about it whatsoever. They didn't take the skillet off my bill, nor did they take my daughters off even though that WAS NOT what she ordered. It was such a disappointment and we won't be returning as I genuinely felt we were not taken care of. With that being said, my husband enjoyed his sandwich and my mother in law enjoyed her burger. Such a bummer that one of our favorite spots has really gone down hill. read more

Sandi and I are out on a beautiful day and decided to eat brunch there. We discovered there is more than one way to exit and enter by street and by Main street entrance. They also have an extra parking lot across the back entrance road. Now for the inside. The building is well lit and airy with a fireplace and a television in the center of the restaurant. They have a patio out in front on Main Street. The music seems to be from the 1970s and 1980s. We both ordered breakfast dishes for lunch. The cheese omelet was huge. I chose the butcher block skillet with egg whites. I enjoyed the skillet. It could have used some spices but was very good. I tried the pancakes for my side with cinnamon butter. They must like ball Mason jars as they use them for drinks and as bathroom containers. You can add this place to your breakfast, brunch and lunch places. read more

Alexander's Cafe was definitely worth the wait!!! You can't knock off points for waiting, both because how packed the place was and how popular it is. They speed things up with integrating their wait time with the app "NoWait", an app you use to hold your spot in line without having to be at the restaurant. Noice!!! Had their Raspberry Lemonade while we waited on our orders. They were cool, refreshing, and a little tangy. Good stuff!!! The fiancé had the Berry-Good-Pancakes, and the couple bites I had out of those were great!!! The fruit topping they used actually tasted berry, rather than just pure sugar, which I was impressed with. I had the "Fathers-Day-Only-Exclusive" Prime Rib Skillet. Every bite was savory, and hearty enough not to finish!!! Service was great, drinks were great, food was great, and environment was great. Good food. They were v busy but we seated and ate in 15 20 minutes. Everything was tasty. We got the veggie omelet, chocolate chip waffles (they did forget bananas and i forgot too until after i was done eating), kids chicken fingers and small choco cakes. Everything was delicious. Been to Alexanders in Elgin (which is by my office) and this one, which is only breakfast and lunch, and I have to say I prefer the St. Charles location. The one complaint I have is the same one I have at a lot of breakfast places-- you can't order anything small. It's all WAY TOO MUCH to eat in the morning. [Review Update: They now have added some smaller items to the menu! Yay!] That said, nobody's ever had anything here they didn't like, and they get my crispy hashbrowns and crispy bacon orders executed correctly, so points for that. read more

My wife and I stopped on a busy Sunday morning at the peak rush around 10:30 AM. We were told it would be about 1/2 wait and provided a pager for when our table would be ready. During the wait the owner offered coffee which was excellent. The table became available in about 20 minute. It's a nice open layout with stone walls and a nice fireplace. The have great fresh squeezed orange juice and espressos. I had the apple cider French Toast and my wife had the waffles and chicken. This is a fantastic breakfast/brunch place. Their menu is a bit fancier than your normal breakfast place and very delicious! And the prices are great! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself is always clean. The only downside, if you can consider it a downside, is that it can be very busy and you might have to wait a while, but they have a coffee bar where you can be served while you wait and a nice waiting room. read more

I was working in the area and there used to be a diner type restaurant in this location and I thought we'd head over there for breakfast. What a wonderful surprise to see that it had been newly built and changed hands. It was wonderful, welcoming and DELICIOUS. I have some dietary restrictions and our server (and the kitchen!) were more than helpful in preparing something that I could eat. The breakfasts were flavorful and - REAL FOOD. This was not processed junk. Four stars only because they were quite crowded and the configuration of the tables made it feel very claustrophobic. I LOVED our server and the food. I want to start off by saying that Alexander's has great coffee, pancakes, friendly service and option for coffee to go. This restaurant has an option to join a waitlist without being there through an app. I've always enjoyed this restaurant until recently, this is the 3rd time I've been here and left dissapointed. Food is not what is used to be and the wait for food has taken longer than usual. This visit I waited 45 min and the food was definitely not worth it. My daughter's food came out burnt. I ordered chilaquiles and the consistency of it was pretty much mush at the bottom. Unfortunately I will not come back here unless it's just for coffee and pancakes. read more

Great location, easy aces from street with ample parking. I was pleasantly surprised that the once former restaurant that didn't make it has become this wonderful breakfast and lunch place! The service was very attentive and the items we had were outstanding! I thoroughly enjoyed the generous omelette with a good combination of cheese and vegetables. You have several choices with your entree for a side. I chose the potatoes which were slightly crispy with slight flavor of bacon flavor and right on. The surroundings were typical of a breakfast place pleasant and comfortable. It was busy but the food was moving and they kept up with the crowds. I was a little worried to try this place because it is owned by Rookies, which is not exactly my speed, and because the location seems to have bad luck in terms of holding a restaurant. Nonetheless, Alexander's was fantastic! It completely changed by mind from the get-go, as the restaurant is well-appointed with bright colors, trendy decor, and a surprisingly quiet atmosphere (thank goodness!). We barely waited for a table, despite the clear crowd at the front door. Our waitress was attentive, though not overly friendly, and the food was excellent. I ate the turkey burger and fries and thought it rivaled that of my former-favorite (and no longer available) from a competitor in Geneva. The fries were delicious, and I really enjoyed the potato pancake, even if it was a little undercooked in the center. It looks like the hubs and I have a new local brunch place: Alexander's. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a large menu, tasty food, and a great atmosphere. read more

While waiting for tires at nearby Fox River Tire, we walked to Alexander's for breakfast. My rating is for superb Breakfast Tacos along with the service provided, which though friendly and responsive lacked . Flour tortillas, lightly crisped, held some very good and spicy chorizo; topped with scrambled eggs; sour cream cholula drizzle and topped with a nice slice of avocado. The employee that came with our items apologized when I informed him I didn't order the burrito he brought. So, while my husband began, (or his would have been cold) and I waited another 15 minutes, 2 more employees came over to apologize. How nice . When we got the bill, both the burrito and the tacos were on it. So....after a few more apologies we waited while the bill was corrected with no offer for even minimum recompense, (could have removed the 1 pop) packed up the 2 uneaten of the generous serving of 3, paid, left an 18% tip and departed. 5 star breakfast!!! I love love love coming here for breakfast! I always get the Farmers Market skillet with a side of pancakes. The skillet is perfect, the pancakes are amazing (I really think it is the cinnamon butter that does it!). I can't testify to anything else on the menu as I always get the same thing. But everyone I make eat breakfast here has been impressed. I will say that friends who have had lunch menus items were not as impressed and I have also been told the bacon is a bit too salty by a couple people. Stick with breakfast items and I doubt will be disappointed! read more
