    meats and spicy beef broth

I had All That Shabu a really long time ago in Irvine and remember loving it, but there's just so much competition in OC so I haven't been back in years! I tried it again with my friend the other day because we were in the area. I thought it was just okay and probably wouldn't come back here specifically because there's just a lot of better places, but this isn't bad at all for the price. The inside was huge and dimly lit, and they had a large self serve bar for hot sides, drinks, hot pot toppings like veggies and seafood, sauces, and dessert. It was a great vibe! There's a pretty large variety of broths to pick from which is nice. We both got the spicy beef, which tasted rich and tomatoey so it was different than a typical beef bone broth that I expected! It was nice because the acidity helped to balance with the richness of the meats. Of all the meats, our favorites were the brisket and the beef short plate. Personally I like to know which meats are which but sometimes when I asked, the servers couldn't really tell them apart so it kinda sucked because I wanted to know which ones I actually liked to order more of those. They were quick with taking our orders though and meats came out really quick. For hot sides, they had a large variety of things, such as fried rice, crab, crispy fried chicken, kimchi, and more. I liked that there was variety! I just think that overall, the experience didn't wow me as much as it did back then, but definitely cheaper than most places and so you get what you pay for!

Personally i like number 2 for meat it is fatty. Alot of the other meats dont have enough fat in them. But everyone else likes to eat the other ones. For the broth i get bone. Some people get half spicy and half bone. Service was really good. When we were running low on meat they came by to ask if we wanted more. They have a sauce bar where yiu can make your own dipping sauce. Mines consist if garlic, green onion, ponzu and the wasabi green things. The middle sections have veggies, noodles, seafood, etc for your hot pot. They also have fried food at the far right. When the crab legs come out fresh, they are amazing but on the sweet side. Definitely recommend trying it. I forgot to get ice creammm.

I came here with a friend on a Saturday night, and there was about a 30-minute wait. We waited and were seated within that time frame. I honestly can't believe how busy all the AYCE places are on a Saturday night. After we sat down, a server came by to ask which broth we wanted. I asked what was popular, and he recommended the beef bone broth, so I went with that. My friend ordered the spicy beef broth after the server assured her it wasn't too spicy. I ended up finding my broth a bit bland and later added some of the spicy beef broth to give it more flavor. We tried different beef cuts as well as lamb. Honestly, there wasn't a huge difference among the beef cuts, except that the filet mignon was leaner and therefore chewier than the others. The lamb was okay. We ended up eating more from the bar, which included vegetables, seafood, and cooked dishes. I really liked the corn because it was sweet, and I also enjoyed the chrysanthemum greens (tung ho), which I ate a lot of. As for the cooked food, the deep-fried crab was just okay. The highlights were the japchae and the tteokbokki, while the bulgogi wasn't anything special. At the sauce bar, they had a lot of Japanese-style sauces like ponzu, sesame sauce, and wasabi ponzu. Soy sauce and chili oil weren't at the sauce bar but were located near the drink station. Speaking of drinks, the unsweetened green tea and black tea were also bland. They weren't sweet, but they also lacked a strong tea flavor. I'd say the drinks here aren't great unless you're going for soft drinks. They also had rice available in a large rice cooker if you wanted some. For dessert, they offer soft-serve vanilla and chocolate ice cream. My friend tried it and liked it. I had the sesame balls instead, which were okay. Overall, everything here was just alright. With a $34.99 weekend dinner price, I guess it's reasonable given inflation--if you can eat enough to justify it. I did feel like I had to push myself to get my money's worth, so I'd only come back when I'm really hungry and have the appetite for it.

Great all around shabu place. Would recommend coming for the weekend/dinner only meat that includes filet mignon, ribeye, and beef chuck flap cuts. Spacious place and place does get busy. Waitlist in the store. Lots of sides and hot foods to choose from. Plenty of veggies and frozen items for the shabu. Their hot items are tasty and made fresh. You can see them frying the crabs at the counter and preparing their other hot foods. Broth is solid and tasty. Meats here a very thinly sliced and cooks instantly. My favorite was the ribeye. Due to its tenderness and fat ratio. Big sauce options and aromatics to choose from. This plaza gets busy and parking may be hard. Have had their other location in Irvine. Solid shabu place. Host service can be better. Saw customers standing in front a few times and didn't acknowledge new customers coming in. Was not a welcoming experience.

This was definitely a great Hotpot place to go if you love a variety of vegetables if you love tons and tons of meat in your soup. It's a great time if you have plenty of time to do hot pot. I don't recommend this if you don't really eat a lot at hot pot places or if you really like just the one bowl of food this is not it for you but great for groups. Great for people who wanna share. I love the variety. I think my favorite part was the dessert. They offer a soft serve ice cream. Really love the options so many different types of vegetables and if you're looking to get your protein on, this is definitely a great place. I live a high protein diet life and this will get you all your macros. Will get you all your proteins and all your fibers so go now go often!! I love the lunch special pricing by the way. Super solid deal for all that you get. It's really a great time. Great bang for your buck.

Genuinely love this spot for shabu shabu in Alhambra! Their service is quick and super friendly. There's a huge amount of options at the self serve area and the sauce bar as well! Their meat quality is always on point and the portions are good value. Love that I can finish my meal with ice cream at the end too! Super underrated spot!

I've been to All About Shabu several times, and while the soup and meat quality are somewhat still solid, this visit felt a bit underwhelming. Service was just okay. It wasn't as quick or attentive as usual, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. I've been here during peak times and still received better service, so that was disappointing. What stood out most was the decline in the quality of the warm food items. Still an okay spot for shabu.

Food was alright, I would stick with the short plate, and the sesame sauce was pretty good. Service was honestly pretty bad. The Korean guy with the glasses better be the owner's son, seeing how he ignores tables and presses us for trying to order rounds. Had to flag down someone every time we wanted to order more meat or needed more broth, probably could've gone 30 mins without anyone checking in. They handed us our check after 90 mins and we asked if we could order one last round since we absolutely should've been able to order more frequently throughout the meal. The Korean guy then comes by and questions us for having ordered more rounds. Not sure what this guy's problem is but hope he gets it together

This my family favorite hotpot place. They always have a ton of fresh ingredients for your hotpot. The cooked stuff could be better though as its probably been out in the heating lamp all day and has dried out or gotten hard like their popcorn chicken. But the broth are good and the servers and very efficient and nice. The place is good and not overly expensive for what you get

AYCE Shabu what that gives Vegetarian/Vegans a $5 discount.... That is better than most who don't give discounts at all. The soup bases are good and the veggie offerings are pretty good as well. I've been here a few times now...and don't mind going back. There are so many choices...only thing is this place is such a huge location and I've never seen it have a wait or even filled up.... I definitely will be back though since it is pretty good overall.

If you're looking for a wide variety of items, this is a great hot pot place to go to. I love the self-service aspect of the non-meat items (veggies, seafood, noodles, sauce, etc). Each table can order 3 meats per round. The meat portions are small (but it's all you can eat) so we found ourselves calling the server over quite frequently to order more. Meat quality is just okay. You definitely get what you pay for. Most of the meat didn't have lots of marbling so nothing was "buttery" or "melt in your mouth." At most AYCE restaurants, you sacrifice quality for quantity. This is a great place to go when you want a little bit of everything but don't need super fancy wagyu or other cuts of meat. The $28 AYCE lunch is an unbeatable price!

I came here for Father's Day Sunday dinner with family. (Party of 5) it was very crowded! This place is definitely a hit or miss depending on what day you come. I guess since Father's Day was busy, the time it took to get the meat slices you order was very long which kind of ruined the all you can eat experience for me. But the quality of meat was still good for the price. I tend to order their ribeye cuts a lot as they are tender, but everything is pretty good. I appreciate that they always have lots of sides to get as well and they have daisy crown vegetables which are my favorite. Bone broth went well with the meat!

    Rosa R.

Been wanting to come here for a while, this is "all you can eat." I tried but didn't like the pre-cooked food, except for the noodles, they were OK. I loved all the fresh vegetables, meats and seafood to create my own delicious soup. I loved the miso broth with pork belly meat. There is a station for different sauces. Service was very good. Will definitely be back!

    Reservations available for 8+people?

    Do we make a reservation?

No! But it tends to be an hour wait around 6pm onward ish

Can you share a meal between 2 people here?

Yes, as long as you pay for 2 people lol

Does this place have waiting list?

Yup, put your name down when you arrive. Need whole party there to seat

    Can you make reservations?

Can one person eat here? Or do does it have to be 2 people or more people together to eat.

Absolutely, solo eaters are totally welcome. The tables are set up as 4 sweaters but worth their own individual burner stations. I've been there several times and often see single diners especially around lunchtime.

    Is the vegetarian broth vegan?

Hi do you have outdoor dining as of December 2022?

No outdoor dining per se. They do have some bench seating but it's for staff last time I was there.

What's the price per person on the weekend? (adult and kid 7yrs). What is best time for weekend dinner?

$31/adult & $16/kid (5-8y/o) or $19/kid (9-10). Best time for dinner is probably before 6/6:30pm, gets crowded around normal dinner rush. Reservations fill up fast too, so might just have to walk-in & wait.

    Do you allow solo diner?

Yes, they do. I've dined here alone several times and they are very welcoming and accommodating of their solo diners. :)

Is there a non ayce option here?

No, the only options are Lunch AYCE or Dinner/Holiday AYCE

    Do you take reservation?

Yes, but only for groups of 6 or more is available. Reservations was almost always available during the daytime on weekdays. It was very good for birthday parties with affordable price and great quality! :)

Hello, are you open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

    That are open.

Is this location still open? Yelp has it as closed and their number does not seem to be working.

yes, just went there yesterday 12/1/21 for lunch..

Today (12/2/2021) I was looking at Yelp and saw that All That Shabu has closed? Is this accurate? I thought this restaurant was popular and profitable. Why did it close?

It is no accurate. I think Yelper report it closed but Yelp hasn't has chance to verify it. It is Still open as of Yesterday 12/2/2021 8:30PM. I went by to check.

Is the side dish selection the same for lunch and dinner/weekends?

Will it be weekday price for lunch this friday?

It was $24.99 for lunch on Friday 4/29/22

    9:30pm

Do you take reservations for a big group?

    Yes they do.

I read reviews which expressed frustration over the service, and I felt like that helped manage my expectations. I know it's a very tough time for restaurants, and I hope they are able to smooth things over soon. We were greeted when entered and we waited a bit to get seated. We were seated at a very large table, which felt funny since it was just three of us. It took some time to get menus. I walked up to grab them, but staff said they would bring it over. Once we ordered, food was quick to come out. Refill requests initially were promptly responded to, but as the first round of customers ended their meals, the service was backed up. It took some time to get refills and the check. Luckily we weren't in a hurry. The menu isn't entirely clear, so we had a couple ordering hiccups. Generally, easy problems to resolve. My family and I enjoyed the food. The vegetables, meat, and sauces tasted good. I really liked their goma dare (sesame sauce), which is my favorite part of shabu shabu. The brown rice portion was substantial, but the rice was reheated and dry. The ramen portion, while tasty was small, like ~1/3 of the rice portion. I personally, like to eat the carb throughout the meal, which means ordering more. The space is large with a lot of hard surfaces. I wouldn't say it is a quiet space--it is good for groups. We also sat closer to the door, so my elder family members were a bit cold while we waited. However, once the burners were going, it didn't feel as cold. The three of us ate for ~90 without tip, which can make sense for folks who don't want to pay $55pp for AYCE dinner. However, I think AYCE lunches at other restaurants during the week are a better value and can have smoother service. Just like many things in this world, my experience isn't black and white. There were things I liked and things that could be improved. I think it's worth a shot for others to try, as long as they can be open minded about the experience and patient.

Not the first time but very satisfied for our most recent visit here…read more It's been a while since we last ate here and we had family dinner as a party of 10, so we were given a private room with 3 hot pots. We had beef, lamb, and pork slices for hotpot which we ordered 5 each per order. We had two pots original and one spicy. The meat slices were very thin so cooking time wasn't long and we paired it with various sauces, so if you make a good sauce it'll be even better. The buffet selection definitely changed, there's more hot foods and they no longer have mini sausages. I do enjoy their char siu and their varieties. Staff were pretty attentive with making sure our tables are cleared and if we need more meat. Since we were in a private room, they still came by to check on us. The restaurant is a decent size with a small private room for private parties. The restroom was decent clean, they do have a B health rating at the moment as of 7/5/26 if that matters to you. Now the hot food buffet section was not a huge section food was a hit and miss, the bbq pork if it comes out fresh was really good, as well as the cucumber smashed salad. The did have salt and pepper shrimp on a skewer, not bad tasting but if it was double fried and bit more crispy would have been better. The pork fried dumplings were ok. The rest of the stuff was meh. The video on post will show you the buffet section. Soft drinks are included in the buffet price. The plates weren't all that clean for the buffet that was an and miss and they were still wet. I also paid $5 extra for the all you can eat dip sum which was basically the worst thing. First it takes 20 min for the order to come out and your expecting fresh made dim sum. Not the case, I feel like it takes that long so you'd fill up on the buffet before it arrives. It was the most pathetic dim sum I ever had, the other reviewer were right on when they said it was horrible. First the selection is very small. The shrimp har gow filling a shrimp paste filling. The soup dumpling was dry as it can be. The shu Mai was decent not great. All the dim sum felt like left over reheated that they didn't sell the night before, really bad worse then frozen stuff. If you plan to go avoid it like the plague. The so call black sesame custard bun, was just standard white bun with grainy cream yolk. False menu item. Overall the food was 2-3 stars, after tax and tip on a Sunday afternoon I paid about $38 per person. Totally not worth it for me. I wasn't in the mood for the hot pot and to me the selection wasn't all that from looking at the hotpot section. If you like mediocre Chinese food with the worse dim sum if you can call it that go for it. They definitely use msg in their food, I was extremely thirsty after the meal. The service was nonexistent, basically you order they come by too pick up you done plates and that's it.

A darker possible peanut sauce, a sesame sauce, a pinkish possibly fermented tofu sauce and the standard chili oil. I wanted more as far as the sauce goes and I thought a sauce bar was pretty standard these days Second there is no AYCE bar with small snacks. Kind of interesting When ordering the meat, I guess they wanted to save a plate so the sliced meats just came in plastic containers. That loses some points with me on presentation Other than that everything is fine. They charge a little less for the broth than a lot of places do, so that's nice Got vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, noodles and a couple of meats. Overall it's a fine experience, mostly Ok to Good. But the lack of some things makes it more second tier for me and it would not be a go to hot pot place for me

I found this place to be a bit pricey, particularly because almost all the veggies/noodles/non-meats were priced at $4.95. In my opinion, the end pricing should better reflect the ingredient pricing. Service was very bad. We were seated, ordered, and brought the food. We never were spoken to again and had to call over two different staff members to get the bill, then pay for it. They do have large tables for groups. Overall, this is the best hot pot restaurant I have tried so far, but I didn't love it.

The mushroom soup base is a must--rich, flavorful, and especially perfect when paired with rice. It's one of those broths you actually want to finish, not just cook in. For meats, I always go back to the fatty beef belly and the Angus beef ribeye. Both are high quality, well-sliced, and cook perfectly in the broth--super satisfying every time. Service here has consistently been great. Yes, there's usually a wait, but that's because this place is always packed--it's constantly poppin, and for good reason. The staff keeps things moving and still manages to stay attentive. But honestly, my favorite part? The snack bar. It's such an underrated highlight. They have a variety of snacks available, and I always end up grabbing extras to take with me for later. It just adds to the whole experience and makes it feel like you're getting more than just a meal. Overall, this spot lives up to the hype. Great food, great energy, and definitely worth the wait.

The hostess asked for our information to get us to a table more quickly, which I appreciated. The food options are vast! The basic meats are far cheaper than Hai Di Lao. The sauce and snack bar had many options that I couldn't decide how to build the sauce correctly. The soup bases were good. The cost is good for not having to drive to Hai Di Lao and getting basic meats. What's problematic is getting service. The servers are so busy, it's hard to get their attention. It took more than 10 minutes to get the bill and receipt. I would give this place better stars if they had more servers. Hai Di Lao is far more attentive and the tablet is very helpful. Lastly, the restaurant is small so it feels like you're in everyone's way when you're at the sauce bar.
