My all time favorite AYCE hot pot spot in the area. There was a wait on a Sunday at 7:30pm, we waited about 45 minutes. You do need to wait around to be called, wait list is just on a piece of paper with guest name and party size. Great seafood, veggie and carbs self serve bar. All the Asian aunties would love it here, they have tangho (crown daisy). You're allowed to mix broth. If you end up choosing a broth you don't like and want to switch your pot out entirely it will be $3 for a swap. There are a bunch of servers walking around refilling broth. Unfortunately, they only allow up to 3 plates of meat per order but once they arrive you can just flag down another server to input the next. I love that they have tofu pockets! It soaks up all the broth, be careful as it will retain heat. Teokbokki (rice cake sticks) for hot pot are just the right amount of chewy and silky. All that Shabu, but so little time! In one sentence, our group was rushed off in 90 mins, but the meat comes out very slow. That's all you need to know. I could not really enjoy the dinner because the clock is ticking. And they REALLY kick you out in 90 mins. It's not a recommendation, it's really 90 mins. It wouldn't be as bad, but they also restrict each table to a max of 3 trays of meat per order. So a table of 4, you get 3 trays at a time. The meat comes out slow and you have to track down the servers to order the next set. For $48 per person with tax and tip, you don't even get close to getting much value. While looking for dinner options, my boyfriend wanted something hearty and I wanted something healthy so All That Shabu was somewhere we could both get what we want and a lot of variety. This is an all you can eat restaurant and pricing at the time of our visit was $33.99/adult for weekends and holidays. This includes the soup base of choice, meat to order from their wait staff, and you can help yourself to some hot items, vegetables, seafood, noodles, and other common hot pot accompaniments. I was so amused by the contrast of my boyfriend and my selections. Even with our vegetables he picked the napas where I preferred the darker greens like the bok choy. Also he was more one plate at a time, where I gathered all of the items before I sat down and started eating. I really like selection of the fish balls, shrimp ball, lobster ball, crab ball, fish cakes and other things. I like the kabocha squash, which is sooooo hard to cut at home so this is a nice indulgence without the hard work. I also grabbed some eggs to poach towards the end of the meal. Yum. This is my second time dining here and both instances the experience has been wonderful. They're located on corner of Main Street/Garfield Ave. at Sprouts shopping plaza. Parking is plentiful. Place is huge inside and quite spacious. It has modern industrial vibe with ample seating. You can call ahead of time to make reservation. We arrived before dinner rush and got seated quickly. They offer so many unique and delicious options. Protein and vegetable selections were abundant and fresh. Plus seafood such as shrimp, scallop, crab, octopus, fish, and crawfish. You have choice of four kinds of soup base broth - miso, spicy, beef bone broth. You can also combine the broth. Spicy beef bone and miso broth provides the perfect kick to everything which was my favorite combo. For protein, we tried everything but enjoyed filet mignon and lamb the most. Meat was super tender and literally melt in your mouth. Service was quick and efficient. Buffet area was clean and well stocked. Only complaint, soft serve ice cream station was broken so no dessert for us...boooo! Price of the meal was $34 per person on weekends and AYCE has 90 minute limit. Vibe: The place is clean and neat! I'm not sure how well they keep it when it gets crowded but while it's just half full, they do well to stay clean and organized. You get one pot per person! Service: Did a good job for us! Friendly and helpful. Made sure to check on us periodically for meat orders or soup refills. They weren't super overwhelming though, so it was nice to have breathing space to eat too. However, I do see people complaining about bad service so take my experience with a grain of salt. The hostess was gracious and informed us that we could split up and that would make make it faster. We opted to wait to sit all together. Once seated we were asked about which broth we wanted. The place is individualized hotpot so each one got their own. I choose the spicy tonkatsu broth. I think I found another ayce hot pot spot that I want to go to regularly. And of course I found this place via Yelp. They have a good selection of broth to choose. I chose the spicy beef broth. It was flavorful and I didn't have to add too much to the broth unlike other places. They have a fair amount of meat selection during lunch time. We mostly ate the beef options. Meat quality was good. They have a good amount of vegetables, seafood, etc to choose from which is buffet style. I love that drinks are included in the price and its fountain drink style. Their sauce selection could be better. They do offer the basics. I wish though that the sesame oils, soy sauce, etc were located in the DIY sauce section. Bonus: they have a self serve soft serve!! Called in for a table of 10 people at 7pm. I arrived on time with half of the people. I asked whether we can get seated first and begin ordering after everyone arrives. The staff said they would initiate the AYCE 90-minutes the moment we sit down. I told him we will wait outside instead, then he said he will still time us at 7pm regardless. Not sure he got the nerve to demand us when we could have literally leave and eat elsewhere. Not to mention only 20% of the tables were full that night. We were seated right away which was good but after that the experience just went down hill. They had us order our meats and that was pretty much it. We asked for water and the lady rudly said you go get it yourself. We had to ask for anything we needed, not once were we actually checked on. There was only one nice young server when we asked for things. The only plates that were ever cleaned from our table were the plates from the raw meats. They never asked to fill our base soup, we had to ask. I love Shabu but this place did not do it for me. The ambiance is very nice, clean and spacious. So park in the plaza behind it where there's a blaze pizza joint and it's like less than 3 minute walk. Inside is inviting and it's great location with all the eateries and business you can explore. You sign in side and you wait outside (there's a sign about it). Was seated right away from the host/server as soon walking in. That's a plus. First timers: you choose your broth (can be spicy if ask) and your meat (up to 3 per round). Then head to the bar to choose your variety of vegetables and seafood. Soda is fountain. They do have ice cream dispenser.What's unique about this is that they have all the side dishes from a typical AYCE kbbbq like radishes, pickle cucumbers, huge fish cakes, potatoe salad and kimchi. But here are the bad things: - not attentive service: hardly see our server and had to patiently wait to ask for more meat - Sunday said it close at 10Pm on but they start cleaning up 1 hour before and last call 30 minutes before closing. The meats are great, I normally get the #3 and #4 and occasionally #2. For my past experience here, they had a mix up with the bill and mistaken my group of 5 for a group of 6 and auto charged us 18% gratuity. I did not realize this until I came home and the next day I had to come back into the establishment to get this situated. They reimbursed me via cash. They could've reimbursed me via the original form of payment but it would've taken longer for me to get my money back due to some back end logistic issues on their end. Another cold LA evening made shabu-shabu sound like a stellar idea. My wife had been here a couple times. Guess it was my turn to enjoy this relatively newish establishment in this space. It was MLK Day, but dinner service seemed to pick up only after we paid our bill around 5:30. I went with the spicy beef broth - no regrets. And that's my general impression of this place. There aren't a ton of broth elements to fill your plate with at the cold bar. They kind of have a duel service station thing that bisects the kitchen area; two sets of everything, from the veggies to the sauce carts. Their wasabi ponzu was so perfect. All of the meat cuts were pleasantly served in smaller portions. Perhaps you're more careful to order and eat your fill - with hopefully less waste. We mostly just ordered down the menu, in groups of three, until we finished it. The hot bar was not really happening here. It didn't stop them from having great fried rice though, and fried pork balls full of salty, meaty goodness. One can certainly argue that the quality upkeep is less difficult to maintain with a mirrored service area.
