What happened to this place?! I used to like coming here for breakfast with my bf. The bacon was so overcooked, there was no point in using a knife to cut it. I can tell they are using a different company or brand (cheaper) of bacon because before it was long and thick. It was very thin and just broke apart when I tried to use a fork to eat it. Crispy mini bacon chips, anyone? The chicken fried steak was also overcooked, it was dry and the edge was hard to eat (the gravy couldn't even save the edge). The waffle was cooked way after we received our plates. Not sure why it couldn't come out w our 2 orders or even soon thereafter. I thought they forgot abt the waffle but then I saw the person making it and saw it just sitting there marinating in the butter for a while. By the time the waitress gave it to us, the waffle was kinda mushy. Mushy waffles, anyone? Complete fail all around and the service was mediocre at best, asked for more napkins and she gave me ONE. read more

Looked up site online and one had operating hours of 7am to 6pm and photos of the current menu had 7am to 3pm. I called at 1:40pm and the main Almansor Court answered and I was told the Grill is open then I was transferred again then a cleaning person answered and told me she was cleaning the cook top and someone would be back soon...30 minutes. I called AGAIN in 30 minutes and no one answered. Get your act together...you probably lost a customer. read more

We usually go to Almansor Grill for breakfast on the weekends. It's a good neighborhood spot. The staff is friendly and the food is yummy. Today, Dolores was our waitress, she's very nice and great customer service. All the staff at the Grill are very attentive to all their customers. I ordered an omelette, so did my husband and my nephew ordered the French Toast. We were all happy with our meals. read more

The menu allows for customization! You can either create you own breakfast with any 2, 3 or 4 items or build your own 3 egg omelette. They also offer breakfast specialities and sides. Create Your Own Breakfast (3 items each - 2 orders) * Hash brown was piping hot and crispy * Scrambled eggs were dry * Sausage links were juicy but on the salty side * French toast was fluffy and soft * Waffle was crunchy on the outside For the waffle and french toast, they don't skimp on the butter and you can pour as much syrup as your heart desires. TERRIBLE Customer Service! Waited in the foyer with a sign that says "Please wait to be seated" - waited for approximately 10 minutes and no one acknowledged us. Hostess/Waitress finally came to the front and said she'll be right with us but then left out the front door. She came back 10 minutes later and said she was going to check the kitchen, not sure for what. Waited another 10 minutes - a party of 2 and 8 showed up and wondering the same as us whether someone was going to come to acknowledge us...nothing! We overheard the hostess/waitress say it's going to be a 40 minute wait to another hostess/waitress but didn't communicate that to any of the parties waiting in the foyer. Can't comment on the food because we didn't end up eating there, but as far as the customer service it sucked and lacked professionalism. read more

Old school since 1986. It's not great but it's better than going to corporate Denny's. I've never eaten breakfast here so we decided to try it out and see what we would experience. We sat outside in the patio, the table we chose was dirty but the waitress cleaned it immediately. You can watch the golfers teeing off from the patio area. The service was good and the food came out quickly for a Sunday morning. It's your average breakfast experience something in the line of Denny's, so if that's what you like it's worth trying. read more

I came here with hubby on a Sunday in September. I always wanted to come here for breakfast and finally got the chance. This place is a hidden gem and the prices are affordable. We went inside and got and greeted by a nice waitress while other waitress was grumpy. The menu was easy to read and to order. I got one French toast, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 bacons, and side of hash browns w/soda. We waited awhile because the place was busy and crowded and we were warned ahead of time. To get the most bang for your buck, you can chose 4 items to share between two people for the price of $6.75. (2) waffles, (1) two sausage links, and (1) two eggs. Just ask for an extra plate. Sharing four items is cheaper than ordering separately since the base price starts at $4.75 for 2 items. The waffle is big enough to share with a friend but delicious enough not to share at all! The butter is scooped into an individual cup from a large tub of soft butter. The syrup and butter are on the side so you can customize the waffle to your preference. My only complaint is that the waffle was a little burnt compared to my friend's waffle. Slightly inconsistent. The sausage links and eggs were solid. Definitely recommend for a quick breakfast. After breakfast, you can walk around Almansor Park (small pond, ducks / geese, and turtles), practice your swing at the driving range ($3 for 30 balls / equivalent increments and free clubs to loan), or play some holes on the course. Great local breakfast joint! I have lived in San Gabriel for over twenty years and only found out about it like four years ago. Its located at the gold course so I can see why it gets overlooked. My sister told me about it one day and we have been coming here ever since. The food is always good, the prices are super reasonable and the waitresses are always so sweet. I always build my own breakfast with the waffle, potatos O'Brian, sausage and eggs. My favorite thing is to get a side of biscuits and gravy to share. (Birdies is located at the golf course) My husband and I love Birdies for the customizable breakfast option. So we always get what we want. Also the prices are so affordable! Thank you to a friend who loves to golf, I've found a hidden gem. I would place Almansor Grill or Birdie's in my top 5 brunch spots. The menu is simple, but the food is delicious! The restaurant itself is a bit smaller, the times I've been it has been self seating and we haven't had to wait. They also have patio seating for those nice sunny mornings. Oh and they have a bar with seating. I've read some other reviews complaining about their service and you have to remember, this place is at a golf course. They cater to the golfers coming in to eat and grab a drink while they play. Yes, sometimes the service gets slow, but they never forget you and with a few servers trying to accommodate all the customers its expected. I've even had a time where a server forgot to add an order and when we asked her about it, she admitted to the mistake and added the order. Yes, we had to wait a little longer and she apologized for it. When you're sitting in any restaurant for that matter and realize how busy the place is, you understand. Back to the food, its brunch and I love brunch. They have the fluffiest pancakes! And they have bomb chicken fried steak. The coffee they serve is Starbucks brewed. They serve alcoholic beverages and I think they have a mimosa package, I can't remember. The best part is the price, you get great quality food for cheap. Came to eat brunch here yesterday and at first I thought I found a hidden gem but I was super disappointed. As soon as we came in we waited to be seated in which we were told would be around a 20 min wait (only one party was ahead of us). A couple min later a group of men walk in and seat themselves until we asked as to why they didn't have to wait as like the rest of us, they explained it was their mistake. Finally we get seated shortly after that and got our drinks. After receiving our drinks, we were left alone for about 45 min. All the servers were attending everyone eating already versus taking our simple order. We were busy that morning and didn't expect to wait this long. Many people were complaining for the wait, a lady was sat down right away due to her complaint and her order was taken right away, even though we had been waiting for the longest already. By this point my husband was very upset and at the point to leave but we were starving. Finally we got someone's attention and they took our order. After another long wait for the food, we ate. The food was good, but certainly not for that wait, I would have chosen ihop if I wanted the same meal but faster. I enjoyed my meal but I really disliked how there was no communication, when I walked in I waited without being approached right away until 15 min after I walked in, sitting down knowing it's busy we weren't told any apology, there was no communication between the servers and us. This place is very well a hidden gem at the golf course. Over the years the prices have gone up but the quality of their food had certainly remained the same. It use to be named birdies but recently it has changed its name to Almansor Grill. Im thinking because there is another restaurant named birdies somewhere in LA. I usually order breakfast here, hardly lunch. They use to have a build your own breakfast for under 10 bucks but recently like I said the prices has gone up and their menu has changed. I get the omelet with ham, onions, mushrooms and cheddar cheese usually with a side of o'brien potatoes. Luckily the mushrooms are not canned and they use fresh ingredients. Sometimes the food can be a tad on the greasy side however its always very tasty. The service is great too, majority of the lovely ladies working here are a gem such as Sonia shes awesome. I really like coming in when shes working and try to order from her. The rest of the workers are just as nice. I have yet to play a round of golf here but for now I will just stick to this little hidden restaurant. 5 stars for food. 5 stars for service. read more

I got the Cobb salad and it was delicious! If you're a blue cheese fan, this is your dream salad. I asked for blue cheese dressing on the side and they crumbled a lovely blue cheese fresh into the dressing rather than giving me something bottled, or something that was sitting around.
