Went to brunch today, a chill little spot. The inside is small but they have a large patio with umbrellas and misters. It's right behind Cornish Pasty if you can't find it. We sat on the patio under a large umbrella. 2 of us ordered the Corned beef which was really good and the other ordered the Chilaquiles which was good but spicy. They were very attentive to us as well and didn't push us out the door once we were done eating. Nice little spot in old town if you're looking for a brunch spot. read more

Amazing! Only way to describe it. We knew it would be great as soon as we walked in to a friendly welcome from the staff. Quaint inside with great patio seating outside as well. We had the Bramlet and the Breakfast Sandwich. Both were outstanding and the home made sausage was delicious. This goes to the top of our favorite breakfast places in Old Town! read more

Excellent breakfast cafe - very cute and a bit hidden. Located in a homey brick bldg in Old Town with a tree shaded patio. Stopped in on a Monday am and had a terrific experience. Our waitress doubled as our barista and was very friendly. I had an omelet, rusk and a hot mocha with a cute design on top. My daughter tried the tortilla espanola, horchata latte and a kringel .We enjoyed it all. Many unusual menu items to try. read more

Sheena who greeted me as I walked in and served me was wonderful! I heard great things about Alo last week by someone traveling thru Scottsdale and it's rare I hear about a coffee shop I haven't heard of so popped in. It's off the beaten path and has a cozy, casual vibe! Intimate inside, dog-friendly patio outside. Sheena made me a Nutella iced latte off the menu by request! So awesome and absolutely delicious! Yelped this place to grab some food as we were walking around and melting in the Scottsdale heat. There was a short wait when we got there around noon on a Saturday. We were seated outside and it was nice and cool with the umbrellas and misters going. We shared a Monte Cristo, which is served with jam and sour cream. If you mix the jam and sour cream together and spread it on your bite of Monte Cristo, it really works and is delicious!! We also shared an horchata latte, which was yummy as well. Service is friendly and fast. Single unisex bathroom available inside. read more

I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints! The patio is quaint and relaxing with ample foliage and misters when it's hot. The service is always friendly and they always treat our dog like royalty. They are knowledgeable about gluten free options. The food is unique and packed with tons of flavor. My go-to is the honey herb bramlet omelette. If you've never had herbs de provence and are down to try something different, it can't be missed! The curry ketchup is also addictive and goes great with the breakfast potatoes. The vibe and menu items really make you feel like you've left AZ and traveled abroad for a meal. This is especially true during their bistro hours. The seared provolone is out of this world! Looking forward to my next visit to Alo. read more

It's a cute breakfast place. The menu offers variety including Tortilla Espagnola (though I didn't try it). I did try the tropical French toast. It was tasty. I prefer the syrup lighter. But others who love lots of syrup would enjoy it. There were sprinkles of mango, berries and strawberries. The price is competitive for the area of Old Town. First and foremost the food was delicious! I had the BBQ pork, 2 eggs, roasted potatoes and toast. I forgot to take a picture of the food but I'm posting a picture of my plate when I was done. That should show how good it was! The place has a very cool coffee shop brunchy vibe and the owner obviously takes great pride in putting out very good food and service. Alo's has both indoor and outdoor seating, very nice staff and quick service. If you are in the Scottsdale area around breakfast, brunch or lunch time, definitely check it out! I stumbled upon this place after an event at the Hotel Valley Ho. This cafe is actually tucked in a shaded courtyard down the street from the Valley Ho. I like that it is a little distance from Scottsdale Rd where all the touristy spots are at. The cafe is named after Estonian composer Alo Mattiisen with some of the food items being inspired by Estonian cuisine. While in Scottsdale we had to go back for breakfast. Tiki Hubby and I shared the Green Hatch Chili Omelet with sourdough bread. Eggs where a little over cooked for us but for a slight charge we asked for some of there yummy salsa verde sauce to save the day. Eggs came with a generous portion of creamy cheese and chilis. Our waitress was sweet and helpful with ordering and taking care of us. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather before it was too hot as today will be 100 degrees. I love to find these little off the beaten path gems. Found this place from Yelp and so glad we went. It's small, quaint, and peaceful. Tucked away from the hustle, the service was prompt and warm. Came here during superbowl weekend with as old coworker. Was the closest spot to our air bnb and good spot to check out. Small space but we got seated not long after coming in. We came in on a day where the servers were short staffed due to a call off but you wouldn't have known if they didn't mention it! The staff were all so kind and the food was phenomenal! Food was delicious, portions were generous and prices were fair, my wife had the French toast, it was amazing, I had the hatch chile omelette, threw on some hot sauce and my goodness was that a meal, my daughter got an omelette as well and she loved it, her potatoes were Delicious and she is a very picky eater. The gentleman sitting next to us suggested we get bacon and I mean who doesn't love bacon.... Did not disappoint it was crispy, not too fatty but not overly crispy.... Came for the cornflake French toast and ended up with the monte cristo! Best decision. Very unique and tasty, huge portion! The only reason i didn't rate 5 stars is the avo toast we ordered, while the flavors were good, the actual avo on the toast was pretty browned and the fruit bowl also looked a bit old and sad. Hidden gem! This is a great little spot with indoor and outdoor seating. It's tucked away off of one of the side streets of old town. They have breakfast (that's served all day) lunch and happy hour! Their menu is very unique and the staff is super friendly. Try the pastrami burrito or the Huevos de Madrid. Both will knock your socks off. read more

Chill music playing which makes the environment even better. We each ordered the 2 eggs any style with breakfast potatoes and your choice of toast. Must try their jalapeño apricot jelly, it was so good on the toast. FYI, it's a pretty large serving. We probably could've shared one plate. Very reasonably priced too. What a wonderful ambiance this establishment has. I feel at home and welcome, accompanied by tasteful music and great smells. I always get the Belgian waffle and some sort of latte and I am NEVER dissatisfied. The service here is immaculate and anyone who tells you different is probably being melodramatic or possibly just delusional. Coffee is splendid. Waffle splendid. Everything. What a cute little find. My wife and I are from Tucson and came to the Phoenix area for the day. We went strictly by the yelp reviews. It's a very small place however the food was fantastic and the service was pretty good. I had the Monte Cristo waffle and my wife had eggs, toast, and potatoes. A little hard to figure out where to go but worth it. Look for a low sign out front. The restaurant is in the back. A few tables. Quaint. Larissa was our server. Very attentive. Met a friend for lunch, we both had never been here. The restaurant is pretty small inside. They do have outdoor seating, which is nice (once the weather cools down). Our server was great at suggesting food and drinks. I had the Chi-Town omelet and my friend had the pastrami egg burrito. We both were happy with our choices. We also had their Havana latte which was delicious. The location is a little hard to find and their parking lot is small, but I'd you're in the area I recommend you stop by. read more

Yay! We made it for breakfast! Popular place, people waiting trying to find shade, but not bad - 15 mins. We sat out on the patio near some misters. Found out you can bring a pup, so next time we will! Super cute, staff friendly. A chocolate milk and 2 caffe mochas down, we ordered a pastrami breakfast burrito (massive and took half home), the in-house cured corned beef with eggs over medium with sourdough, and their fairly new menu item (about 3 weeks now and I promise it's on the menu) the egg and shrimp enchiladas with potatoes. Hello?!? Fricken delicious - all of it! Parking is tricky and scarce in front of the cafe, but street parking is only about 30 feet away, no problem. Nice to have two handi's parking upfront. Meet the Business Owner: Steve M.

Alo's Owners, Steve and Hilja Martinez are very proud of their Estonian heritage. Their parents were among a small number of lucky Estonian citizens that were able to flee the country by any means possible. This meant a long run to the coastline, taking back alleys and rooftops to avoid capture. It also meant leaving behind all they had known, a source of great pain and suffering. As Estonians, they are very proud that no matter how many times their home has been occupied by various countries seeking a warm winter port, the people have lived on the same land, spoken the same language, danced the same dances, preserved the culture and most importantly, kept singing the songs. Singing is in our souls and in our blood!

The furniture and tables in the bar could use a reno or touchup. many of them were chipping and/or peeling. Service was okay. overall a good experience!

We were exploring Old Town Scottsdale last February when we came across this spot. We were already…read moredeep within the 2026 olympics, so, we thought it might be neat to try curling. Now I realize that the 2026 was a Summer Olympics and Curling is part of the Winter Olympics, but we didn't care Upon entry to go to the host stand and tell them what you're looking to do (activities vs bar/waiting). The space is relatively open and you can immediately see the fully stocked bar, the bowling area, the back axe throwing lanes, and the enclosed curling lanes. We opted for a package that got us unlimited games (any) for an hour. We started with curling and we didn't need any special clothes or shoes. We were lead to a lane and it's set up like shuffleboard (you can stand on either side and there's two separate color stones). There's ice where you glide your stones and you stand on rubber for traction. You can glide by hand or use a piece of equipment that is essentially a stick to help push and guide your stone. There's an attendant on duty to help any stones that are stuck or that don't make it down the lane The experience was awesome. We've always wanted to try curling, but it's difficult to find somewhere that is set up to let you do that. We were amazed that we finally tried it in a desert of all places. There are no brushes like in typical curling, but you still get a sense of the Olympic activity. The bowling was fun too, but it's a smaller version like you might see in some novelty bars. Axe throwing was that of typical ax throwing. You had a couple different sizes of axes, there's lanes and you throw at a wooden target. They had computers to input your name and keep track of points. It was sometimes difficult to stick the wooden target, but it was fun We didn't try the food or drink, but everything looked good. The staff were very helpful. It was a weekend, and it wasn't overly crowded which was nice. Overall it was a fun experience Some tips: If your stones seem to be getting stuck down the lane, ask the attendant to move you to another lane. That's what we did and it made all the difference Explore the rest of bustling Old Town Scottsdale. Our friends even made an unsolicited comment that my tacos did not look good. Luckily, I selected fries as my side, because they were the best thing on my plate. With a name like Montauk, and the beach decor, I expected more fresh seafood options on the menu. More than half the menu was not seafood (Mediterranean platter, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, brussels sprouts, salads, etc.). Unfortunately, Montauk does not live up to the hype.

I write this as someone who enjoys their food and has spent many hundreds of dollars there in the past. Last night, I arrived a few minutes early for our 6:15 reservation for a party of 2 while my dining companion was parking her car. The hostess took me to a table outside, on their empty patio, and said it was the only table they had. I explained that sitting in 105 ℉ heat and very high humidity around a sea of empty tables would not make for a pleasant dining experience. Do you have another table, please? Recognizing that their tables were probably all booked, I offered for us to sit at a high-top in the bar area or at the bar, if that would help. There were open high-top tables and several open seats at the bar. Well, even that was fruitless. I was informed that the open bar seats were "reserved for the owner's daughter," which was an effective way of telling me my business is unimportant to them. Meanwhile, an older gentleman in a suit who appeared to be a host, stood there watching the situation and doing nothing to help honor our reservation. So, I left. As someone who enjoys their food and has patronized DiMaggio's on multiple occasions, their dismissive treatment left me not wanting to return. So, if you have a reservation, I suggest confirming that they have an acceptable table for your party's needs. And as for the guy in a suit, next time do something to help your guests and hostesses alike.

Took the dog and we were comfortable in the sun enjoying the Housemade Corned Beef Hash. Very tasty!!! I would've loved a little friendlier service but the sever seemed a bit preoccupied. My guest had the Monte Cristo waffles. She said they were fabulous! Have to try those next time!! Always love a good find on a road trip. Very cool military decor surrounded us with pics of Marilyn singing to the troops and Elvis in uniform! I love the theme, and whoever designed the REMI hotel and its restaurants did a wonderful job. I went with the chicken and waffles and it was perfect top to bottom. A passion fruit mimosa?! One of the best I've had. My date had the pancakes and was equally impressed. A bit touristy? Very much your typical, nice hotel bar. Service (4.5/5): There were two bartenders working and not a lot of customers so that made things easier but my bartender did a good job taking care of me. He wasn't friendly but he was efficient at his job. Food (N/A): Only drinks for me on this visit. Drinks (3.5/5): During happy hour, all cocktails are $2 off. While not a huge discount, they do have a nice list of 12 or so craft cocktails. I tried two and both were hits. One was a gin-based cocktail (Stone Fruit Collins) which was refreshing. The other was a vodka-based cocktail. This one was more on the sweet side. Solid all-around. If you're looking for some nice cocktails, this makes for a nice selection. It's more laid back than some other spots in Scottsdale which may be exactly what you're looking for.

However, the spinach quinoa that came with it was way too salty. Overall, the service was nice but could have been more attentive. The décor of this place is more on the rustic modern side; with a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating.

The Christmas decor was a vibe, and lots of fun Christmas props to take selfies by. I came with a group of 15 ish people, and had a reservation. There were a lot of other large groups there that evening too! Food and holiday themed Christmas drinks were available for purchase, as well as some of the cups that the drinks were being served in. They are on the pricier side but they are worth it. The decor here was amazing for the holidays. Our server told me that the lights were like as if Santa has vomited! I also had a Southwest chicken sandwich with green chillies and I loved this sandwich! It was very tasty, fresh and not too spicy at all. Parking available on the street, did not have any trouble. I liked that they have a daily specials menu, and food prices are very reasonable compared to area restaurants. We started off with wings which were on special, and they were of decent quality and taste. For meals, we ordered the Mykonos salmon and rice, Sonoran cheeseburger, and cheese pizza flatbread. There were no weak points to the meal, as all the items were tasty and prepared well. Even the flatbread pizza hit the spot with us. The waffle fries had a special seasoning to them without too much heavy potato flavor, so were worth the upcharge to try out. The burger was well above average and cooked to wellness as requested, although the crispy onions on top weren't the best. The owner/bartender mentioned the one wait staff member called out sick, so did an incredible job of running the show attending to all the dining patrons himself, and checked in on us quite a few times. It take a little bit to get the check at the end of the meal, but service was great otherwise. All in all, although Metropolis is a bit hidden and probably doesn't get much tourist/visitor business, it's a solid and reasonably priced option for food in an area of Scottsdale that can get get quite expensive for meals.

I booked a solo seat at the bar just two hours before dinner, which, in hindsight, should have been my first clue. The night before, my plans at Chilte had evaporated after I arrived to discover the owner was hosting a baby shower and the ceilings were being painted instead of dinner being served. I wasn't eager to go 0-for-2 on my Scottsdale food pilgrimage. Pulling into what looked more like an aging roadside motor lodge than the home of a James Beard-recognized restaurant, I wondered if Google Maps had developed a sense of humor. I parked around back, followed the sign to the dining room, and found... a locked door. Naturally. For a brief moment I thought the Arizona restaurant gods were playing another practical joke. Then I spotted another entrance simply marked "Bar." Inside, Hai Noon revealed itself as a tiny oasis. Phoenix met Tokyo somewhere in a dimly lit room with clean lines, warm wood, and mellow music humming through the speakers. Three other guests occupied the restaurant--a couple finishing dinner and what appeared to be a delightfully intimate two-person baby shower. I took my place at the bar. The server welcomed me warmly. When I admitted I was in town for work and wanted to experience the restaurant rather than order safely, he smiled and took control. A few menu staples were unavailable but he confidently selected four dishes. The grapefruit avocado hamachi spoons arrived first and immediately justified the trip. Rich, buttery fish balanced against bright citrus acidity with avocado quietly stitching everything together. It's the kind of bite that reminds you why chefs obsess over simplicity done well. The white fish carpaccio followed with a little theater. Hot sesame oil was poured tableside, barely kissing the fish into submission. Fun presentation. Beautiful execution. Though once the spectacle faded, the dish itself never quite reached the same emotional high as the hamachi. The garlic butter mushrooms arrived... in a plastic bag. It shouldn't have worked. It absolutely did. Deeply savory, unapologetically rich, and refreshingly unconcerned with appearances. The house chicken, unfortunately, couldn't keep pace. Twice fried and topped with egg salad alongside a chili vinegar, it sounded far more exciting than it tasted. Sometimes clever combinations simply refuse to become memorable food. Cocktails, however, were another story. My first choice--the Kosho--was unavailable, so I settled on the Japanese Moss, a gin cocktail topped with yuzu cold foam. The foam leaned aggressively tart but never overwhelmed the drink. Later, after finally coaxing the bartender away from his phone, he suggested an off-menu serrano-infused rum cocktail with miso. Complex, vegetal, spicy, balanced. Exactly the sort of drink you hope to discover when you stop ordering from menus. By 7 p.m., I was the only customer left. Summer in Phoenix is merciless. One hundred thirteen degrees has a way of convincing even adventurous diners to stay home. I watched two reservations cancel while chatting with the bartender and server, who explained that between May and August, three tables can qualify as a good night. Location doesn't help either. Hidden behind an unassuming hotel, Hai Noon isn't exactly benefiting from walk-in traffic. The chef emerged from the kitchen several times during service. Each time he glanced at the empty reservation book, quietly acknowledged another cancellation with a shake of his head, and disappeared back into the kitchen without speaking to anyone. There was something heartbreaking about it. Here was someone capable of creating award-winning food, still chasing perfection while circumstances far beyond the plate slowly worked against him. Hai Noon isn't flawless. Service occasionally drifted. One dish missed the mark. The room felt almost too empty. But I'd rather spend an evening in an imperfect restaurant full of ambition than a polished dining room serving food without a soul. I just hope Scottsdale's relentless summer doesn't prove too Hai for many more Noons.

The flavor was there, but the temperature made me nervous. Maybe order: the yams. For me, it had way too much topping in a small bowl, which made it overwhelming. Some of the yams were undercooked, but there is a lot of potential for this dish!
