Came mainly because the Chinese place next door was closed for some reason. I ordered a katsu & pork combo and was not impressed. The katsu is rubbery with no flavor, and the miniscule sauce cup did not help much. The pork was fairly good but the portion is a joke. Rice is watery, mac salad was decent. Won't be back. read more

We were kindly greeted as we walked in the door. We ordered the chicken katsu and Teri beef with a spam musubi with egg. The food was fair at best. The cook and lady that took our order were very polite and helpful. Better Hawaiian food can be found at Pacific Island Grill in Federal Way #1 & Saimin Says in Kent #2!!! Urge biggest disappointment was...Immediately after receiving our order we were interrupted by some guy barging in named "Matt" and a woman with child. They came in like they owned the place (maybe they do, they clearly knew the workers) creating total chaos! The kid ran wild behind the counter while yelling and acting out. The Matt guy was turning the radio volume up and down obviously trying to figure out the radio... Neither of the adults showed any professional manner, with slippers on their feet and going behind the counter in the kitchen. The woman even started taking pictures of the guy going into the kitchen and cooking themselves food. WTF? No class! It was difficult to ignore with the child being obnoxious and the people all over the restaurant. I won't be back, I'd hate to interrupt THEY'RE family time while trying to have dinner with my wife! I was really excited to see a Hawaiian grill so close to my new job, but after eating here a couple times I'm not anymore. The first time I went the wait was a bit long, but I tried the chicken katsu, and it was perfectly cooked-I was excited to return. The second time I ordered the chicken katsu with kahlua pig combo with veggies instead of rice. The pork was very greasy, the veggies were a cabbage slaw and the cabbage had gone bad, and the chicken was rubbery like it had been frozen and defrosted. --Won't be returning. read more

The wife originally being from Oahu was happy to see a Hawaiian place in Renton other than the L&L Drive-In or the Aloha Hawaiian Grill (both of these being rated no higher than a two also). The service was nice and friendly and the décor heavily Hawaiian themed. I joked with the lady who served us about having a Maye's teriyaki burger.... and she gave me a blank stare. We ordered the laulau/kalua pig plate & the katsu chicken/teriyaki plate with a side of po'ke. The wife didn't care for the laulau and wondered if they used butter fish for it as should be, but it tasted different. The Kailua pig didn't have the flavor it should have. When I got home I was disappointed to see no sauce with the katsu chicken and for the price I would have expected a larger portion on the teriyaki beef, they placed a small amount of beef over the top of some shredded cabbage so it looked like a large portion. The cashier tells us about the price of the po'ke at the Hawaiian market in Seattle compared to theirs. We will stick to the Uwaijamaya store for ordering po'ke in the future. read more

Much busier this time than the last. Service was good and prompt. I was having trouble picking between two of the specials so the lady offered up to have a little of both put on the plate. Very nice. Curry chicken katsu and Kahlua pulled pork on rice with a side of Mac. Freaking good! Thank you ma'am! Pork was nice and tender with just enough smoke. The katsu was crispy and chicken inside was nice and juicy. Perfectly complimented each other. I might just ask for this custom combo again. We have always enjoyed the Mac salad, I have a sneaking suspicion that they may make their own mayo because it had a little but more of an egg taste to it than store bought. Anyway it's really good! Went in at 8pm so I was told I can only order take out, fair enough. I ended up ordering the loco moco as it was a staff recommendation and the menu stated it was a homemade ground beef patty. Ok, Aloha Grill is my go to place when I'm running out of time to make a meal. Went there today and ordered my go to combo plate Beach Boy, which is Teriyaki Chicken and Teriyaki Beef. I also ordered the Waikiki Mix which is the Hamburger Steak, Chicken Katsu and Chicken Teriyaki. What a surprise, the Hamburger Steak is the bomb. The Chicken Katsu was delicious and of course I already like the Chicken Teriyaki. I had to fight with my GF over the Hamburger Steak and the Chicken Katsu, our first time trying them here. The gravy was soooo good, next time I'll ask for more gravy. As for the the staff, they appear to be Micronesians, polite as hell, but that is just their culture. I would still come to this place if their food was mediocre, because the staff are so goddamn polite to you. Where else can you say that. I got the chicken katsu/Teri katsu combo. The katsu is like eating bread because there's literally no chicken inside the breading. The Teri was not cooked to order it looked like it was cooked earlier that day and was dry. The Mac salad was good though. As for service it was more awkward than anything. Three workers in the back looked at me with confusion. So I asked if they were closed and one finally spoke up and said "oh no". Then I had to ask whether I was supposed to sit or order at the front and the same guy said I can order at the front. then the lady finally came over to take my order. A little weird. read more

Visited for first time two weeks ago. I ordered chicken teriyaki after a recommendation. The portion was large enough that I was able to share it with my neice. The chicken was delicious! Macaroni salad was so good I had to order another serving. The staff was very nice a kind woman working there came out and asked how our food was and made sure we had everything that we needed. Resturant was very clean, as soon as another customer left someone was out and wiping down tables. Price was very reasonable for what we ordered. Best Hawain food around. First of all I understand we're going through a pandemic right now. As restaurants are opening I would assume they would be taking the safe precautions that are needed in a restaurant at this time. When ordering, I paid in cash. The cashier at the time handled the money. When she took the money out my hands and gave me my change, she was trying hard not to touch my hands which I didn't see the point since she was touching cash anyways then she turned around, did not wash her hands and began to serve food on the plates without gloves on top of that. I did not notice this until my second transaction when I purchased drinks to go. Also the food was really bland. Better off going to L&L. I'm really giving this 2 stars because of the unsanitary incident and the food wasn't all that great either. It wasn't busy at all but even if it was after doing any transaction at the cashier, her hands should've been washed and gloves should've been worn. read more

The signature side offering is macaroni salad, which tastes authentic, and the two scoops of sticky rice brought us back to the islands. The teri-beef is good and tasty. My favorite, however, is the Kalua Pork, which is very well prepared. Think of southern slow-smoked pulled pork with a steamed-in-banana-leaves twist. Aloha Grill just opened, and since it is in my business park I decided to give it a try. I had teri chicken and the pork. Both were delicious, but I especially loved the pork. This place was great years ago but lately it's been losing its service and quality of food. Today I ordered for pick-up and it took me three call attempts before someone answered the phone. I ordered the OpihiMan (kalua pork & chicken katsu combo) and asked that the chicken katsu be put into a separate container so the breading wouldn't get soggy (not an unreasonable request) because it would be a while until I ate it. When I arrived, the meal wasn't ready and I found that they charged me a $1 for the small Styrofoam box to hold the katsu. I questioned that and the guy behind the counter told me that those boxes are expensive. First off, they buy them in bulk, so charging me a dollar was unnecessary. And secondly, they might as well charge for customers using the bathroom because toilet tissue and water isn't cheap either. What made matters worse, was that when the lady from the back was bagging my food, she asked me "do you want katsu sauce" ... I said "For the chicken katsu that I ordered?, Yes." ...duh; and she gave me empty sauce containers to fill up myself. On top of everything the food was mediocre and not like it was in the past. In my opinion, when they started the UberEats program, their food and service has been going downhill. Can't keep up, then get out.
