This place was great years ago but lately it's been losing its service and quality of food. Today I ordered for pick-up and it took me three call attempts before someone answered the phone. I ordered the OpihiMan (kalua pork & chicken katsu combo) and asked that the chicken katsu be put into a separate container so the breading wouldn't get soggy (not an unreasonable request) because it would be a while until I ate it. When I arrived, the meal wasn't ready and I found that they charged me a $1 for the small Styrofoam box to hold the katsu. I questioned that and the guy behind the counter told me that those boxes are expensive. First off, they buy them in bulk, so charging me a dollar was unnecessary. And secondly, they might as well charge for customers using the bathroom because toilet tissue and water isn't cheap either. What made matters worse, was that when the lady from the back was bagging my food, she asked me "do you want katsu sauce" ... I said "For the chicken katsu that I ordered?, Yes." ...duh; and she gave me empty sauce containers to fill up myself. On top of everything the food was mediocre and not like it was in the past. In my opinion, when they started the UberEats program, their food and service has been going downhill. Can't keep up, then get out. This is the closest thing to homemade Hawaiian food in the Seattle area. I have family from hawaii who can make a mean spread. I had the chicken katsu beef Teri combo and a spam musubi. The hubby had chicken and beef Teri combo with a manapua. The Teri beef is just like back in Hawaii. I can't wait to try more of their menu. read more

What a pleasant surprise! Shopping nearby and a local said to give it a try - Glad we did! I had Garlic Chicken (brown butter sauce - yum!) and a side of Poke. Went here for the first time on Friday. Service was very fast. I got the yakisoba noodles with vegetables and my husband got the poke bowl and we shared the spam musing with egg. The poke and spam musing were the best the yakisoba was lacking in flavor and didn't seem like it was cooked on the grill long enough. Their sauces were delicious too, definitely made in house. The katsu was nice and crispy and the loco moco was good, but the chicken in the teriyaki was fatty and bland. Growing up in Hawaii and being half filipino, I was exposed to island flavors. No matter where you were, family, friends, local dive or fine dining, every place had it's own flare. Having been away from the "islands" for quite few years (38) I long for the local grind. Any chance I get, I will explore a new "Hawaiian" eatery in the Puget Sound area. While in the Renton area, I used Yelp to guide me to local food. At first I as disappointed as I thought my GPS was taking me to Aloha Hawaiian Grill since I have already eaten there a few times, but to my surprise, a NEW place. Actually, they've been there a year with their first restaurant in Portland over 9 years. I have tasted some good Hawaiian food from time to time, but in my mind no one can put together a complete meal where everything on the plate is pretty darn close, except this place. I have tasted awesome huli huli chicken, mac salad, lomi salmon, manapua, malasadas, and poke`, but let me tell you I ordered the laulau and kalua pork combo, with a side of poi, poke` and haupia and I'll tell you I was in a tradewind dream. SO GOOD! The owner also gave us as an "anniversary' treat his version of malasadas. I will give this guy credit, never living there, no Hawaiian blood in his family and this guy can crank out some ONO food. I'm going back, it's reasonable, delicious... beats anyone around (L&L, Aloha Hawaiian Grill and Saimin Says, might be a strong contender for Kauai Family Style) and you can't beat the service and friendliness of the ownership. The food at this place is really tasty and reminds me of the food I had living in Hawaii. The manapua brought me back to the days when Libby's was open in Oahu. Taste was good, Mac salad was just like home (Hawaii) however, the portions were surprisingly very small. Two scoops of rice however the Teri beef and Teri chicken took up a quarter of the plate and a big empty space. Weird, like half of the food fell out on my way to the car. Ooooooooh my lordy this place is awesome!!! Me and my soulmate decided against cooking in this 90 degree weather so we figured we'd stop by and give this place a try. I hadent had plate lunch in a few years and my girl had never had it. We both had a combo with teri beef and pork calua, the pork was seriously some of the best smoked meat I have ever had and the beef was above average as well. The food was ready quickly, the portions were very generous and the staff was extremely friendly. My only knock is the macaroni salad, I found it a little bland. They need to put a little diced onion or celery to mix up the consistency or maybe a small pieces of cheddar cheese to add some depth to the flavor. My first experience was impressive. Friendly customer staff, generous portions, and very good tasting food. Today, not so much. I ordered the same thing I got on my last visit - Spicy Teri Chicken. There was no consistency with how it was prepared. It tasted a bit dull - like as if the people that prepared it were sad. The portions were small and I didn't receive the macaroni salad that was previously given to me when I ordered the exact same thing. I also got chastised for referring to the Habanero Teriyaki Sauce as the Jalapeno sauce by the old white man - MY BAD.
