My friend and I decided to hang out one day but I had to pick him up at the Renton Honda but we wanted to eat lunch somewhere nearby because I had to finish some holiday shopping. He was craving Hawaiian food so luckily I found out about this place through Yelp when I was searching for places to eat nearby. The menu had a wide variety of the classics as well as a mix of some classics. I was actually craving chicken katsu when searching for a place to eat, and I knew this restaurant would have this, but they had chicken katsu loco moco and I knew I had to try it because I love both chicken katsu AND loco moco! My friend had a kalua pork loco mix. I also saw on the menu that they had poke and cakes. I was hungry and considered getting those but decided not to because I get full pretty fast, but I was really happy to know that that was an option. Most likely getting one or the other for the future. Our food came out pretty fast, and it was pretty good! I wouldn't say it was the best thing in the world though. I liked how crispy my katsu was and the gravy had a nice flavor to it. The macaroni salad and sunny side up eggs were good too. There was also a lot of rice on the plate, which is good, but unfortunately I got too full to finish it. There's something missing though that doesn't make me love the dish too much. But I would still order it again if I was in the mood. If I could, I would give this place 3.5 stars but I'll rate it at 3 for now. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best either. I ordered some of their food off of doordash and the moment I opened the box there was hair in the food. I called to let them know and right from the first encounter the lady was rude. I explained the situation and all she said was "I don't know what you want me to do. We wear hair nets so I don't how the hair got in there". After going back and forth she finally said I could drive down there and pick up a new one. When I got there you could clearly see the people in the kitchen were in fact not wearing hair nets like she tried to tell me over the phone. The girl at the register was just lost. And the customer service overall was terrible. I brought the food with me so she could see for her self if wasn't like a hair fell on top. It was intertwined with the chicken. Any place that has a comfortable outdoor, covered seating where I can bring my dog with me when I eat out is a 5 star place in my book. Add in amazing food, great service, friendly staff -- well, then it'll be a place that I'll be coming back to quite often! Been to Aloha Grill quite a few times -- this is one of our go to spots when we're just not truly up to cooking our own dinner ;) We've ordered dine in, take out, sat and ate at the outdoor patio so our dog can hang out with us. The food -- YUM! My go to dish is the chicken katsu -- love this. The katsu is fried just right that it is crunchy and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Of the few times we've been here, I admit I haven't tried anything else. My husband though has tried their loco moco plate, and their lau lau and kalua pork combo plate. While I'm a "chicken katsu loyalist" (haha), I of course steal some from his plate, and I have to say their loco moco is really good! The gravy is just right -- not too salty like other places I've been to. Both my husband and I agree that their lau lau and kalua pork was just okay. For the lau lau, we both think that the ratio between the taro leaves and the meat could be better (a little bit more meat please) and kalua pork was a tad salty for my taste -- nevertheless still good. Definitely recommend trying out the chicken katsu and loco moco! Additional note: When you dine in, they serve your food in plastic plates and you get real cutlery. Don't forget to get katsu sauce from the counter, if you've ordered the katsu. It's in a bottle at the counter -- if it's a slow time at the restaurant I usually just take the bottle to my table, but if it's rather busy I ask for a small bowl so I can just get some katsu sauce for myself. read more

Given the current pandemic we are facing, employee did not use gloves to make the musubi I ordered-she was making it with her bare hands after I saw her using the phone to take orders. Short version: I'm in love. Longer version: Don't be fooled by the restaurant's appearance. Not that it looks dirty or anything but the look leaves much to be desired. THE FOOD, however, is a whole different story. I was a bit wary of Aloha Grill. I can't really pinpoint the exact reason why, but expectations were low. It didn't seem as if many people went there and there must be a reason for that. Boy, I was wrong. I ordered the Beach Boy with spicy teri chicken. Best. Decision. Ever. The teri chicken wasn't too spicy but there was just enough spice to be satisfactory. I didn't think I would like the teriyaki beef that much but afterwards I didn't know which I loved more. The chicken was tender and was full of flavor. The beef, the same. The spam musubi wasn't particularly mind-blowing but it was still really good. In regards to portion size, it was just the right amount. After coming here that first time, I came back at least 2 more times in the following weeks. I can't speak for the other menu items, but I would highly recommend the Beach Boy with spicy teri chicken. Recommended for: anyone and everyone. read more

I haven't written a review in awhile being super busy working so here goes. Craving any sort of rice plate, I decided to choose Aloha Grill getting the Chicken Katsu rice plate. Walking in, the floors, counter, tables were clean with condiments and silverware organized neatly on the side. On the flipside, the floor at the drink dispenser was very sticky indicating a lot of spills and no cleanup. So if you're reading this business owner/manager, pay more attention to the floor in that back area for you and/or your employees to look at that. Regarding service, the worker that helped me did her job exceptionally well and was very courteous in taking my order and delivering it to my table. Eating, I felt that the portions were a little on the smaller side compared to L&L and other Hawaiian BBQ places. Then again, I have been working a lot to the point where my appetite is bigger than usual so take that statement with a grain of salt. Rice was typical, macaroni salad was ok, and the chicken katsu was good. Anyways, the atmosphere was fitting, a lot of people on break go to eat there, the food was ok, and the prices were typical in this current cost of living. Finally got a chance to try this place after bookmarking it months ago. I was relieved to see another Hawaiian place open in the area, especially in light of the poor offering of Aloha BBQ down the street (in Kent). I enjoyed it. Went for lunch, it wasn't too crowded. They have many of your typical Hawaiian offerings and I went with the kahlua pig. The server was accommodating to my request for no rice and substituted vegetables. They do offer brown rice in case you're wondering. To be fair, the food wasn't stand out but the proximity, the ease of ordering, the array of condiments more then convince me enough to come back for my Hawaiian fix in the area. read more

The beef patty was a bit meaty rather than savory like it should be. The type of meat in a Loco Moco makes it a loco moco, . . not a burger on top of rice. The pulled pork was a bit on the soft side...I would say mushy to describe it. The pork was also missing some flavor as it seemed to be just slow cooked and didn't have that good Hawaiian twist to it. The mac salad was on the fresh tasting side and not what I was used to. I do recall having this type of mac salad in the country side twice before, perhaps that's what they were trying to copy? overall, this place goes through the motions but lacks the hawaiian flavor. They have the products and the combinations but just doesn't hit the spot for me. but they do try and the place is nice with great people. The price is very good for the amount of food you get...as usual in hawaiian style but the place down the street is a little cheaper and more authentic. I am head-over-heels in love with this place. Easily some of the best Hawaiian food I've had (and let me tell you, I've had my fair share). Obsessed with the fact that you can order a kalua pork loco moco; these are two of my favorite dishes and combined it's ever better. Portions are massive and the food is so so so good. The mac salad is drool worthy, swear! We recently had Aloha Grill cater for one of our parties and my god they did not disappoint. "Serving size for 10" is easily enough for 15-20 people especially if you order rice & mac salad. The staff was so genuinely nice and carried all the food out to our car and even hooked us up with a bottle of house made sauce, which fortunately but unfortunately all of our guest used up. Safe to say we received so many complements on the food and we've been eating left over kalua pork, rice & mac salad for a week straight (but hey I'm not complaining). Tiny little place in one of the strip malls along the road so is hard to spot while driving. Had the loco moco oh man the gravy is awesome. So good. One of my burger patties was a bit cajuned which detracted slightly from the flavour. Had the loco moco with some spam. Delicious. Hawaiian sun drink to wash it down. Chicken Katsu with the Macaroni Salad...is best combo. They make their macaroni salad good where it isn't too strong or bland. The combination plates are good too, but I tend to just gravitate towards that katsu and mac when I order here. This place was great! I can't wait to go there enough times to eat the entire menu! We had the aloha platter that had 3 different meats, rice and mac salad. It was super great. The flavors were definitely different in each meat unlike other hawaiian grills make everything taste the same. My kid got the burger with onions and pineapple and devoured it! I ordered a kalua pig cabbage plate and my husband got the mixed plate which had bbq beef, bbq chicken and kalbi. I liked that they gave a decent amount of food in each plate. WOW! I don't care for loco mocos, but this place is an exception!! The gravy is SOOO good! A lot of places I've been to either make the gravy too bland and always drown the patty in it.
