First off this place was really clean and very modern. As I walked in we were greeted by a guy who was really nice and said if we had any questions about the menu to just let him know. The food isn't your typical Mexican food. Which is why you're probably interested in it. I thought it was great. Everything had like a Hawaiian vibe twist with everything. We ordered the Mr Pete's breakfast burrito and chorizo burrito. Chorizo could have used a little longer in pan but still really good. The Mr Pete's burrito was the best! Beans were fresh. Excellent breakfast stop. We found on yelp on our way back north from San Diego. I had a bacon breakfast burrito and my husband had the island chilaquiles. As foodies, we have a new favorite breakfast place in San Clemente. This is @alohamrpetes off El Camino Real. There are sooooo many awesome choices so had to make a few tough choices this morning. My wife had the loco moco with chicken Katsu & steamed rice. I had the kalua pork omelet with onion, cheddar / jack cheese & added a side of their green salsa. It's normally served with a chipotle ranchero sauce. Not only was the food delicious, but the customer-service was top notch. They came over multiple times asking if they can refill my coffee & my wife's soft drink. The manager even came over to check on us. SUPER impressed with the entire experience. Aloha Mr. Pete! How I have never been here before I have no idea. Firstly I'll start off by saying I have looked everywhere for a good hawaiian breakfast place. This place delivered! I changed up the loco moco, which cake with several different meat options to have it with chicken katsu. The meal consisted of rice, chicken katsu, and two eggs your style. I swapped out the brown gravy for the spicy mayo (heresy I know) but boy was it satisfying. I also go their homemade POG which was fresh and delicious. They have a mimosa version which I may have to come back for. Overall there are tons of options! My whole meal came out to about $17 and there was more than enough food. The service was also very fast and they have a drive through. Plenty of parking and plenty of seating. I can't believe it wasn't more busy. 11/10! read more

Not sure what's going on these days with Mr. Pete's. In the past couple of years, they would randomly close early or run out of popular menu items. More recently, the quality of food is compromised. From watered-down ranch (which is normally amazing for ranch), to overly greasy zucchini fries in tiny bags (soaked through 2 paper bags - gross)! The fact alone that it costs $30+ for 2 burgers w/zucchini fries didn't sit right with me, now the food and portions are sub-par, too. read more

I have really enjoyed finding this place. I originally saw positive reviews on Dana Point Unplugged, how the owner of Stack Pancakes has bought Mr. Pete's in San Clemente. On my first visit, I tried the spicy chicken and waffle. Completely out my normal choices, but OMG delicious I appreciated the staff a patience with all my questions since their menu was new to me. I loved how warm and relaxing the atmosphere was. The decor has a nice modern island vibe accompanied by hawaiian music. This place has old-fashioned hospitality , which is really rare today. On my second visit, I had the club sandwich with Avocado on toasted sourdough. It was just as fresh and hot as before. I loved they served it with a side of ranch. Since we like Stacks in Dana Point we thought we'd try the new Aloha Mr Pete's in San Clemente. The menu is very similar except the choice of side slides doesn't include pancakes so we had to order a short stack separate. No problem. The California omelet was good but since it has bacon they don't need to add salt which made it too salty. My pancakes took some time to come out. I actually had to go and ask about them. The pancakes had a slight dusting of powdered sugar which I don't expect on plain pancakes. Even with my nitpicky comments it is a good place but needs a little work to bring it up to the other Aloha Stacks standards. I want to go here since it's closer than the Dana Point location but it needs a little work. read more

Well, it's neither Mr. Pete's nor Stacks. Basic breakfast only comes with one side, so you end up paying extra if you want toast. Only Pepsi products, so I opted for ice tea. They only have fake raspberry tea from the fountain, so I got water. I really enjoy Stacks. The lava pancakes and island chilaquiles are both phenomenal and are available at the SC location, just as good btw. I've never been to Mr. Pete's. I usually don't care for burgers. I've been to Aloha Stacks in Irvine and had their breakfast before but it didn't stick to me. However, Aloha Mr. Pete's is what I was hoping to find here in OC. This place sold me on their aloha concept and the Hawaiian fusion. I like that we were able to order both a breakfast (macadamia vanilla pancakes) and a burger at the same time even though it was 9a. I wish more places would allow that instead of waiting until 11a to be able to order a "lunch" item. As for the hellfire burger - I absolutely loved the spicy kick. The grill master did a wonderful job with the crispy cheese edge. It added a special touch to the burger that set it apart from other burgers too. I liked the brioche bun too. Tried this on my wife's and mine first trip to San Clemente as it looked really good and we wanted a Hawaiian burger. Well, my experience was not a good one. We ordered 2 burgers, a fry and drink. Our Fries were cold & hard, they didn't bring our drink to us, my wife's burger was to have grilled onions & it didn't have them and the burgers were on the dry side where the bun disintergrated. I am glad I tried this place, but Would not come back with other burger places with just as good reviews. Cross this one off my bucket list. read more
