It came with a guava drizzle that wasn't overly sweet, perfectly balanced. The drinks were great as well. My wife, our kids, and I waited in line for about 10 minutes before reaching the counter. When it was our turn to order, my wife politely asked the employee at the register a simple question: whether seafood is cooked separately from other dishes. This was an important question for us because of seafood allergy concerns. Unfortunately, the employee responded with a very unpleasant attitude. Instead of answering professionally or showing any understanding of why we were asking, she replied that everything is cooked together and that "everything cross contaminates," and she said it in a rude and dismissive manner. Her tone and facial expression made the interaction uncomfortable and unwelcoming. What was most concerning was not just the rude response, but the complete lack of effort to accommodate customers with allergies. For a restaurant that has just opened, I would expect some level of customer care or at least the willingness to say something like, "We can prepare your food in a separate pan," or explain possible options for customers with dietary restrictions or allergies. Food allergies are a serious issue, and many restaurants make an effort to handle them with care. Being told bluntly that everything cross contaminates, combined with a rude attitude, left us feeling like our concerns did not matter at all. We were excited to try your restaurant, but this interaction made the experience very disappointing. I got to-go, but there is PLENTY of seating indoors and outdoors. You order first, then grab a table. I got the ube pancakes and the katsu and belgian waffle. The ube coconut pancakes were delicious and unique. Not too sweet, can definitely taste the ube, and the coconut/Macapuno sauce were a divine match. The waffle and katsu is a take on chicken and waffles and I am here for it. The Katsu was well fried, and not overly greasy or too dry. The waffles were a tad soggy, but I think that's because I took it to go. Not at all the fault of the restaurant. Service was super nice and really on top of it. This is a new restaurant that opened up in the city of Whittier. Business seems always busy. Arrived at noon. It took about 25 minutes to get to the register and put in our order. After we had to go look for a table which was difficult because of the restaurant being busy and needing a table where we can use a wheelchair and put the walker to the side at least . Personally, I don't like when restaurants have you look for your own table as people will always go and sit before they order to save a table. Our orders came out separately and wrong twice. The Mac nut banana pancakes were delicious. The dried oxtail tasted amazing, but the rice was undercooked and almost bland . The burger was basic; nothing special about it . The overall experience was alright, but not a place I'd be in a hurry to go back to. Stopped by during the week for mid morning breakfast. We walked in between rushes and only had to wait for about 10 minutes to order. Staff were all friendly and helpful and I was happy to see the manager constantly walking around refilling water and coffee. Managers at other restaurants don't usually do that. I had their chimichurri ribs and they were so amazing and my wife & MIL had the strawberry waffles. We also had a Loco Moco for the table. Everything was really good. All their drinks I've tried were very well balanced. Omurice omelette - 2/5 this was on the special menu and not on the regular menu. It has fried rice and Portuguese sausage inside an omelette with cheese. Lacked flavor and tasted a bit bland so I wouldn't get it again. Chimichurri fried beef ribs - 5/5 looooved this dish especially the sauce! Item was also on the list of specials. It was pricey at $20-ish but came with 3 large beef ribs, 2 eggs and a side. Well worth it imo. Ube pancakes - 5/5 omg soooo good!!!! It comes with a purple ube drizzle with coconut flakes on top and white syrup (coconut maybe?) on the side. This was my favorite food here. I really want to like this place because it's walking distance, you can pay ahead of time so you're free to leave when you're ready, and the staff is friendly. The savory food hasn't quite lived up to the rest of the experience for us. The breakfast burrito had good meat, but overall it was a mushy, soggy mess with very little texture variation. The island chilaquiles were fine, but not especially memorable. I know our experience doesn't seem to match a lot of the glowing reviews, so maybe we're just not ordering the right things. We did have a decent experience with the pancakes on a previous visit, but I also remember the waffle with chicken and cheese being very dry, with textures that felt off. Overall, the food we've tried so far lacks a real wow factor. The portions have been craftily changed. For instance, a Kalua pork breakfast burrito, now comes mostly with potatoes and eggs. Bacon, will come with one half cooked and the half will be completely raw, white even, and they will sometimes give me what look like scraps of the bacon at that. We ordered the chorizo scramble, garden crepes, chicken fried steak, Nutella crepes, a stack of pancakes, and the coconut pineapple muffin. The garden crepes were savory but not too rich and the hollandaise sauce was tasty but mild enough not to overpower the other flavors. The coconut pineapple muffin was very flavorful and moist. Walked in and saw a loooong line so was already dreading a wait.....but this place worked through the line efficiently! It was definitely worth the short wait! We ordered and could only find a table that hadn't been cleaned yet by the previous guests but as soon as Monica and her coworker noticed the table they came up, greeted us, smiled and immediately started clearing a table for us while engaging in polite and friendly conversation, which you don't always get at places these days. I've been anticipating the opening of this restaurant for some time since I pass it all the time and saw the outside signage come up. We came for Sunday breakfast and weren't disappointed. The patio was under repair so there was a short wait to order. However the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive especially the Manager, Jay. He was very apologetic of the wait and made several visits to our table and even brought us a complimentary dessert. This was our first time here and counter attendant went over the menu with us, which added another layer of enjoyment to our dinning experience. They should really take their Teriyaki Chicken off the menu. It was basically quarter of a chicken breast with a bit of teriyaki sauce poured on top. The chicken was not marinated and had it not been for the sauce, it would have just been plain chicken breast. To charge $16 for that tiny, bland portion was a bit egregious. For a Hawaiian place to have teri chicken this mediocre is sad and kind of insulting. I can't imagine what a local would say about it. And for those who might say that I ordered the wrong thing, my retort to that would be to not put something that mediocre on the menu or to actually put some effort into serving a quality dish. I'm not a fan of anything soggy, and the top pancake was a little soft for me. The flavor was good though, and the coconut topping was really good! The pot pie was just okay. The filling was very thick and only had a couple pieces of soft chicken, no carrots. I'd probably order it again on a cold day, but otherwise maybe not. The sandwich was good!
