Expensive but worth it. This is a local steak spot located in Waikiki I know I know typical tourist trap when it's inflated prices to cater to tourist who are willing to pay the exorbitant prices. I would dismiss the idea since there are several local YouTubers that swear by this pace. Whether they are being paid by the restaurant to give a subjective review that is a different story but I have to say this restaurant is pretty solid. Would I go back? Absolutely but maybe this time I'll try a smaller cut rather than your typical 16oz steak. It can get pricey pretty quick with all the add ones since the entrees do not come with sides so they would have to be ordered separately. The Waygu tomahawk is what people will typically order especially if you are part of a larger group to help share the cost and taste. Our hotel was directly across from the Aloha Steak House and the smell captivated my attention the minute we got there. I decided to walk across the street to check it out and to my surprise the wait was 2 hours long. I found a couple seats open at the bar and met Brian, the bartender. He was very friendly and pleasant from the start. He recommended a few drinks and went over the menu and suggested a few popular items. We decided on the crab cake, wedges salad to start and for dinner, we ordered the bone in ribeyes, a side of their local mushroom, mac & cheese and the corn soup. WOW !!!! Now I see why there's a two hours waiting list and sold out reservation every night since New Year's Eve. I wanted to highlight Brian for making it a fun and entertaining evening for both my wife and daughter. If you're looking to get your steak fix at a reasonable price (especially for Waikiki) now's your chance! I've always wanted to try a tomahawk ribeye but never ordered one, because it's just way too much meat. So when ST invited several of us to share, I finally got my chance. If like me, you've always wanted to try one, the tomahawk ribeye is a kama'aina special right now (June 2020) at a very special price, but they only have a limited number per day, so I suggest you call ahead. To start with, the service was really super, and when I say super, I mean SUPER. They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating, and we even had the pleasure of Chef Keigo coming to our table to chat with us. All of the food that was supposed to be hot was served piping hot. The sides I tried were the sautéed mushrooms, the mac & cheese, the garlic fries (with several cloves of baked garlic), and the cobb salad (with extra chunks of thick bacon for ST), and they were all delicious. Next came the tomahawk ribeye (pictured) expertly carved at our table, which was a show in itself. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and the special onion sauce was really delightful! The sauce is made by grinding Maui onions until they are the consistency of daikon tsuri (I admit that I thought it was daikon at first), and really complements the steak. The dessert was just amazeballs. Watermelon flavored soft serve with chocolate chips to stand in for the seeds in a wafer thin matcha cone (dyed to look like a watermelon rind). Stumbled upon this place on Open Table looking for somewhere to eat in Honolulu last night. It is advertised as Honolulus most casual steakhouse and that is spot on! We loved the traditional steakhouse quality without feeling like we had to totally dress up while on vacation to enjoy. They serve their steaks on a hot skillet and recommend you order it to be prepared one less level than you would typically order because it continues to cook on the skillet as you eat. We eat steaks this way at home and loved to see a restaurant offer this. Every bite of steak was perfectly cooked to our individual likings and so warm! We started with the Garlic Shrimp appetizer which was delicious along with a whole egg Caesar salad. We each ordered a filet and enjoyed the skillet to heat up our bites as we went. The Garlic Shrimp comes with a few Brussel Sprouts so we could've done without the side of them as well. The Mac and cheese wasn't our favorite but we still enjoyed a few bites. We also added a Jumbo Lobster tail to split which was delicious! It came with their house sauce that was buttery, herby and delicious. The staff was wonderful as well! The Manager, Kenny came over to help us box our leftovers and talked to us about the restaurant and it's unique style. We passed on dessert but they still brought us a pallet cleanser of a watermelon sorbet with Cocoa Puffs, sounds weird but I promise it was the best thing after a hearty, hot meal. We ordered the GIGA HAWK 4LB STEAK Wow the steak was so soft and soo good my favorite by far, only thing not that much meat the bone was so huge it must have weighed in 2lbs. we also got the oysters and Rib Eye steak also good and the Premium Filet Mignon so soft and just so good. Also got the Kona Abalone Escargot style it was okay, and the Truffle Liver Pate not for me very strong taste. For the Starters I wish they had more variety. Will be back again. read more

The ASH was a nice surprise in an area inundated with Hawaiian style food. The ASH menu offers a selective menu of choice beef cuts, without loosing its Hawaiian identity. I didn't have a reservation but was able to be seated. I had Ribeye and Shrimp. The Shrimp are soft shell and you get all of the shrimp (soft-shell) and cooked perfectly. I came here with my mom and an ecclectic mix of her friends. I was peer pressured into ordering and trying a tomahawk steak on my own which I was a bit intimidated by. Waikiki was eerily empty with mostly local couples and one or two mainland tourists without masks walking around. This restaurant is on a sidestreet of Kalakaua across from a bar and gyukaku (I think). In short, because the staff were so friendly (super fantastic!) and the food sounded delicious we ended up ordering a lot. I only had a bite or two of different things: the delicious garlic fries and fondue which were both delicious, but I was mostly saving room for finishing off a tomahawk. After drinking half of my beer (the alc is yummy and pretty cheap) the steak arrived, sizzling on a hot plate and attached to a bone the size of my forearm. After taking photos it was impressively carved by our waiter-cum-saltbae, easily over a pound of meet. It was juicy and tender, with pieces of succulent fat and a crispy savory exterior. Fantastic. It came with an onion sauce which the others on my table loved but I enjoyed dipping it in fondue and downing it with the (unlimited) rice. It's a pretty price for such a large and good quality steak, but I think the big takeaway is that it was good enough that, despite my stomach punishing me later, I finished the whole thing myself. Overall it's nice and fun restaurant but I wouldn't go back to the restaurant. It's "Steakhouse" but their steak was totally overcooked. We were a big group. Most of us ordered NY sirloin and ribeye rare or medium rare. But our steaks were cooked medium or well done. *as you can see in the pics We told our server that we ordered "rare". But sounds like those happens to everyone because they serve with hot iron plates. That means they serve overcooked steaks to everyone. So if you go there just order hamburger steak or something except steaks. Looks like there're similar reviews that says "their steak was overcooked" . We visited aloha steakhouse to celebrate my dad's birthday and the food was great, but the customer service was even better. We had a party of 6 that night, and the restaurant was packed. Our food took a little longer than normal, so our waiter and the manager Kenny came to our table to apologize and offered us a round of free drinks! And even complimentary desserts afterwards. The manager then came back to our table to apologize once more and explained the situation they were dealing with in the kitchen, and why the food was taking longer than normal. Some of the BEST customer service I've ever experienced. Our waiter who's name I can't remember, (it could've been haku?), was very informative and also gave us top notch service. He seemed to just know what we needed, was so attentive without being overly intrusive, efficient...really can't say enough good things about him! (This was during Covid time) We saw the menu outside and what caught our eyes was the $10 steak and shrimp plate! It's normally $20 but for Saturday and Sunday it's only $10. Our first visit here and we tried the dinner special for two with the wagyu picanha steak. We also had a wedge salad, stuffed mushroom, twice baked potato, asparagus, and watermelon sorbet. The food was amazing, especially the steak! We ordered the steak medium rare but liked how it came out on a hot plate so we could cook some of the very rare pieces a little more. Meat here doesn't only taste good its definitely a spectacle, the meat is brought to you on hot skillets so once it reaches the table its hot and sizzling. From the moment you walk in, you'll feel the gravitational pull from the energetic "HI! Welcome to Aloha Steak House! Party of 2?" I was instantly excited when I saw how excited the host was. We sat at a centered high top which was really, the best seat in the house. If you enjoy the visual of a restaurant with a glimpse of it at all angles, you'll catch my drift. I love to see the action of a dinner crowd and this wonderful "Ohana" they have really make it all entertaining. We started with some waters and cocktails. Friend of mine chose the whiskey sour (pic) and I asked for the Bartenders choice. The Bartender's choice ended up being a delicious Cooler that had a hint of carbonation that just broke the whole drink down beautifully, refreshing to say the least. Moving on, I chose the Kona Abalone (pic) to start and just the fact that it was served in a gratin dish with small lightly toasted baguettes. Enough to cover every pocket of that sectioned dish. We then moved on to the Tomahawk(pic). Go big or go home right?? (Not worth the dock of the star but just a hint when ordering, if you want it medium, order med rare. If you want med rare, order rare. It's brought out on a skillet, cut right before you then placed BACK ON the hot skillet with a slab of butter until you decide to take it off which means it'll continue to cook it. We ate our cooked to brown when we would've loved a little red to it. Still so delicious). The Tomahawk did comes with a side so we got the Bacon and Brussels sprouts. Here's when the photos stopped because nothing else mattered at the time haha. The aprons are such a great personal touch. You can choose between a few fun choices and because I can be messy, I used it.
